I'm running AOKP Build 36 on my Kindle Fire and i cannot manage to install Swype. Using the LCD density switcher, i have switched it to 240 then tried to login and install but i keep getting 'screen size is not supported'. I've tried every other standard dpi listed in the app as well but get the same message.
I've been running ScreenMonitor as well and sure enough, the screen size isn't supported by Swype. They are off by some pixels.
Anyone experience similar problems or have success where i've failed?
Thanks.
This may sound like a stupid question, but did you reboot after setting your screen density?
Swipe works fine for me.
Maybe it's the app you're using? Seems like it would be easier to open the build.prop file with a text editor and change the line that way or get an app like build.prop editor and it works the same, but with nice organized dropdown boxes.
Thank for your responses. I'll try editing the build.prop file and see if that works. The fact that i'm running AOKP 36 shouldn't matter, right?

I restarted after every change.
Even if you manage to install Swype, you won't be able to download addition language in ICS, so you'd better backup, install CM7 bare bone (the smallest CM7), install Swype, back it up using Titaniumbackup then restore it to aokp.
That's all.

Are you getting your swype package from the official swype beta? That's where I got mine from and it works perfectly... I followed these instructions (half of it is just rooting): http://blog.pathany.com/2011/12/swype-on-kindle-fire.html
I tried the build.prop method and that just didn't work at all. It wouldn't load it with the right screen density.
I looked at those instructions, but my problem exists when i have to login to download the actual apk through the swyp-installer.apk.
I suppose i could try loading CM7 then backing and reinstalling aokp.

Don't know if it will work, Swype active code maybe hardcode inside Swype.
Just back it up once and you're free to use it even if you wanna flash another ROM.

I would really love to use SuperNote on my Kindle Fire, but it is designed for ASUS tablets only.
I have the apk but since it is for 10'' screens it doesn't fit in the Kindle Fire, is there any chance to port this app for the resolution of the Fire?
Thank you!
Handrite Pro is a very good handwriting app that works on Kindle Fire. Checkout a review here (http://bit.ly/y5asjn). Maybe you can use it until you can find an answer for SuperNote.
Change your DPI to 120 and this works fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah but I hear its a little cutoff. Changing the DPI does seem to fix it though.

God damnit! Read post nr 3!
Hi, Can you show me how to change DPI. I'm new in Kindle Fire
Thanks
its 120dpi!
What app are you using to chage it? Or do you direct modify the build.prob?
//i used LCD Density Modder Pro to turn dpi to 120. and i did install supernote 1.4 on the stock rom, but i got force closed when i start the app.
///Ah, think its needs android 3+ right ? So i have to flash cm9
Anyone get the tablet UI working on GSM GNex with Stock 4.0.2?
Tried a lot of DPI like 160, 180, 192 ... but System-UI crashes all the Time.
Had a lot of work getting my locked device to work again. Stock launcher closed direct after booting at 180 & 192. On 160 the launcher runs great but no nav. buttons appear.
Any ideas? I want a small Tablet!

U have to hide your navigation buttons...customs roms like AOKP have the feature, but idk how to do it with stock

Think it is: "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" in "build.prop".
But that hide the Touch keys also.
Had a lot of trouble get the buttons back on my locked device.
Had forget to launch USB debug before rebooting. After booting only black screen and no adb, no settings, no buttons and no launcher...

That is the correct line to add to the build prop if you are not using AOKP. With AOKP you just need to close the nav bar in the power menu.
When you boot into a tablet density of 192 or lower you should get the Nav buttons on the bottom within the tablet bar.
On the CDMA versions, we needed to swap out the Phone APK with a WVGA phone APK in order for the phone not to close. Not sure if GSM is the same. The density's that worked were 192 - 185. 160 will force close the phone.
I haven't tried the tablet mod on stock though. I ran it on CM9, AOKP, and Axiom.
Also, I freeze the stock launcher with titanium and use Apex.
Okay.... I added this line and had no more nav bar, no buttons and no tablet bar! Nothing!
Phone works on 160, but no buttons! But 160 are also a little bit to small for me!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Use AOKP milestone 4 and change the DPI to 160. It has the tablet status bar, soft keys, etc. Even the notifications work the same way that tablets do!
If you want the phone app to work, it has been suggested to take the one from the Droid Incredible (just check the aokp downloads and take the phone apk from the droid incredible zip) and to push it to the phone via adb
I don't want to unlock and wipe my device if possible!
Other ideas?

Change back to your regular resolution and remove the line in your build prop. You can use an app called button savior if you need to navigate...

I just remembered you need to have root to use button savior anyway. I thought you wanted to get back to stock.
Why don't you just root your phone. It is so simple with this phone. The tool does it for you.
You can never win with a non rooted Nexus no matter what you are trying to accomplish. That is just the way it is.

Hey, just a quick question. Is it possible to get the eReader app that comes preinstalled on the Kindle on a different ROM like CM9? The one that comes with the Kindle is so much better than the ones I have seen in the Play store.

Did you try Titanium Backup?
Gửi từ Kindle Lửa của tôi qua Tapatalk 2
I personally have tried using a Titanium Backup version of the stock Kindle Reader on ICS AOKP Build 32. It worked when I first restored it, but when I rebooted it always force-closed when I tried to open it. I don't know if this was a kernel issue or a ROM issue, but both have been updated since then, so it might be worth another try. Also I have never tried it on an CM9-based ROM.

Hi folks, I was trying to do some work with my tablet and I was using calculator pop up window, but it was so annoying because I could edit the size of the window and hence it was bothering my job. Is there any way to change that? I found a tweak here on the tab s forum to add four Windows in multi window feature but anything to resize the pop up window.
Thanks

yes there is a way...several actually. Without adding any extra apps u can just hold the edge of the pop up window and u will see a yellow/gold outline appear then u can stretch or shrink it where u want it BUT there is a minimum size (the outline will turn red when u reach the smallest window possible). Also...there is an app by a guy named @xperiacle which i'll link to below thats lets u create shortcuts on your home screen then have them open automatically in floating mode with a custom size of your choosing
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.xperiacle.penwindowshortcuts&hl=en
^floating window shortcuts app
@amadoaramendiz1
i forgot one MAJOR detail...u can only resize from the right or bottom sides! The yellow line will appear when u touch the top but like u said it will only allow u to move the window...while nothing happens at all when u touch the left side
Never mind, yes the solution is to find the edge in the right corner. Genius!
Thanks for your help

If u install my rom then it has a mod built in that automatically makes all apps available in multiwindow...if not then u will need to use another app such wanam xposed module or @xperiacles multiwindow manager to add them to the list

For some dumb reason samsung seems to have removed the floating window feature from the stock rom so unless the creater of thunder rom specifically added it back then no its not...i have included this function in my SuperSamsung rom which is compatible with all version of the tab S so feel free to flash it
