The devs are still waiting on kernel source.

They are all running Android Gingerbread.

Everyone has a different experience with the modems and the kernels too. You will have to experiment. Calkulin's GB 3.0 comes with a modified Rogue Gunslinger 1.4.1 kernel.
Located here are most of the Rogue stock and custom kernels:
http://www.android.net/forum/downloa...=&do=cat&id=20
Here are the custom rogue kernels that are missing, scroll down to -Archives-:

Most users prefer the custom kernels since they offer more support than the stock kernels.
Okay, let me experiment and get Back. Thanx

I am actually surprised that stock kernel with Tegrak is giving higher numbers than our current overclockable kernels. It was never that way on the OG Epic unless you really got brave. 1.4 was safe Max on OG Epic and people got brave and got it to 1.6 with Tegrak and insane voltages...but not daily use stable. Just to run some benchmarks ans snap some screenies. Then there was Marcusant's UberQuadrant terminal command that gave 9000+ quadrants. Its easily tricked but a good tool to gauge differences in your personal setup

I think it has to do with the source kernel not being 100% compared to the actual kernel that comes on the phone. Was going back and forth with sammy about this and with some recent info from mkasick I'm hoping the next response I get is something along the lines of "Oooh **** our bad here is the correct defconfig"
hey I can dream can't I?
My Score
this is my best score that i have achieved so far. 5223
Here is a good one. My best so far was 5689, but this one is nice. My rom is a mutt between calks and phantoms, kernel is LoSt with my own init.d scripts.

You should so troll the evo3d crowd with that lol.
Lol. I liked that phone, just not as much as this one.
I am running Blazer 4.1 with the Gunslinger kernel and FD19 modem.
It is my understanding the FC and FD kernels are only ICS compatible, is this true or am I missing something?
Like everyone else I want to be running the best combo and wanted to check before I do something stupid like flash an incompatible kernel. If anyone has any better suggestions for my setup let me hear them. Thanks!

Yes fc and fd kernels are only ics compatible. As for your setup, its good. That is the exact setup that I was going to be using when I go back to gingerbread today.

I like Gunslinger because I can undervolt it, I on the other hand have not used the stock Rogue so I do not have a comparison.

I will have to try it to compare the two and let you know which is better or worse

So before I ask my question I wanna make one thing clear. I have 100% respect for the devs that work on our phones and can't wait to see what ICS source brings us.
Now to the question. Before all these ICS leaks we had EL29 source for our phone. However we only ever had on variant of custom kernel (Rogue). All I keep hearing is that once source drops for ICS we'll see a lot of custom ROMs and kernels. If we have source for GB why aren't there any other custom kernels? I guess I'm just a little confused on what source will bring us, besides allowing us to build a pure AOSP kernel and allow over and underclocking on TW roms.
Are you saying rogue was the only gb kernel for this phone?
If so you haven't been here long..

I believe he is referring to gunslinger/hitman and all the kernels before it made by team rogue which allowed voltage changing and overclocking. Not the repacked stock kernels.
LoStKernel. Zedomax. Plus kernel. That's without actually looking.

I have a question on if a Rom is built using a kernel, is the rom built to be the best on that kernel(optomized) or will it run better on another kernel? I am running the people's rom v2.2 with the samuri-mtd kernel that was flashed with it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
Kernels aren't built for specific ROMs they are built for specific phones . However they are built for specific android versions. Like an ICS kernel won't boot on a GB kernel... for obvious reasons. So you can flash any GB kernel for any GB rom.

Thank you for the quick reply. So as long as I use the GB kernels I can try any of them out?

No. Only ones that use the bootclasspath and drivers for your specific ROM type such as Touchwiz or Cyanogenmod7.

Whoops... that slipped... forgot about that.
Currently the only choices are the Samurai kernel TPR came with, shadowkernel (either EL30 or FC09 versions will work but FC09 version still has no LED notifications I believe), Nubernel and CleanGB kernel.

I really want to use this kernel and try these settings: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26755476&postcount=850 for better battery life.
However, i know that flashing this kernel will cause me to brick.
So my question is, Is there any kernel for the Epic 4g Touch that is equivalent to the SiyahKernel that will allow me to use the settings in the thread posted above??
Thanks..
Closest one I've seen with those features is the BLU KUBAN kernel but it's only for touchwiz roms. Siyah kernel I believe works for both AOSP and Touchwiz. So if your looking for that then no we don't have any.

Damn...Well what kernel would you recommend to use on akop,cm10,asop,etc roms? Governor?
If you mean jellybean kernels only the one in your rom. There are no others.
sent from my BAD A$$ Epic touch
^^ what he said, no dev is working on just AOSP kernel alone to add those nice fancy tweaks, they're rather focused on making the whole Rom stable ,then additional tweaks come later, plus we have no source for jelly bean.
