SiyahKernel Alternative - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I really want to use this kernel and try these settings: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26755476&postcount=850 for better battery life.
However, i know that flashing this kernel will cause me to brick.
So my question is, Is there any kernel for the Epic 4g Touch that is equivalent to the SiyahKernel that will allow me to use the settings in the thread posted above??
Thanks..

Closest one I've seen with those features is the BLU KUBAN kernel but it's only for touchwiz roms. Siyah kernel I believe works for both AOSP and Touchwiz. So if your looking for that then no we don't have any.

Damn...Well what kernel would you recommend to use on akop,cm10,asop,etc roms? Governor?

If you mean jellybean kernels only the one in your rom. There are no others.

^^ what he said, no dev is working on just AOSP kernel alone to add those nice fancy tweaks, they're rather focused on making the whole Rom stable ,then additional tweaks come later, plus we have no source for jelly bean.

Everyone has a different experience with the modems and the kernels too. You will have to experiment. Calkulin's GB 3.0 comes with a modified Rogue Gunslinger 1.4.1 kernel.
Located here are most of the Rogue stock and custom kernels:
http://www.android.net/forum/downloa...=&do=cat&id=20
Here are the custom rogue kernels that are missing, scroll down to -Archives-:

Most users prefer the custom kernels since they offer more support than the stock kernels.
Okay, let me experiment and get Back. Thanx

Best All-Round ROM+Kernel Combination on Jelly Bean?

What are some of your deadly combinations in terms of JB ROMs and kernels for the GNex?
I've got:
ROM: Jellybro CM10

Never encountered anything better than this.

+1 Really haven't found something like what I had on ICE (Rascream + Franco). So far I've tried SuperRom, AndroidME, Thunderstick and Bigxies Stock ROM all of them with Trinity Kernel and Franco Kernel.
James Bond 3.3, Air Kernel r177, Franco 223 are all super smooth for me on the latest Modaco JR4.

CM10 [jellybro] + kernel of your choice (franco or trinity)
I was using black jelly bean + Franco. Was smooth and fast! Loving the dark theme.
But I just switched to CM10Hybrid ParanoidAndroid 1.8
Using the tablet mode. Its a nice change. Different. Paired it with Trinity 537GPU alpha32. I like! Then I just added the paranoid darkness blue theme. That was the icing on the cake.
I'm new to ROMs. Is trinity the only kernel that has a blue tint to it? I feel like i can't go back to the yellowish stock tint. Lol
MoDaCo latest with Franco kernel..
No bugs, no lag and more importantly no slow downs over time.

Why would the stock ROM have lag? Everyone seems to have this assumption that your average dude who does some Android development in the spare time that his real job affords him will make a better ROM/kernel than Google's highly skilled engineers that do this as their full time job. Stock ROM is awesome. Custom ROMs and kernels aren't needed to reduce lag or anything like that but to use different mods or features that are not part of stock. Everyone will say this and that kernel gives them better battery life but I really don't think undervolting or whatever has much of an effect. It's all about the screen and your connection quality. And of course how often you're waking your phone and using it.
Right now the stock ota with the trinity kernel is amazing!

ICS Rom Decision

I know everyone in this community hates questions like this, so I apologize. I'm currently on Blazer's ICS rom and loving it, but was just wanting everyone else's input on what they like. I'm not asking which is the best, that isn't a thread like that, I just want to know what you guys are running.
I like Touchwiz based ROM's opposed to the AOSP style (Dunno why, I just appreciate the Samsung nonsense). I tried Blu Kuban but was having issues with it being sluggish, and I know it's not the ROM's fault, it was most likely the way I had the CPU settings tweaked, but I couldn't seem to get them right. I was also am not a huge fan of overly theme'd ROM's. I like the ICS blue in the status bar and things like that, but when EVERY app is theme'd, it gets old.
Anyways, what are you guys running? If you could post your Kernel as well, that would be much appreciated. :silly:

Does it run pretty smooth with that kernel? I'll try flashing that kernel on Blazer again tonight and see if I can configure it decently. I am on Agat's right now, and it's doing well. I need to do more research as to what all of the Governors do. There are a ton on that kernel, and a lot of them I have never heard of.

Aokp, cm9, aosp ics. Or cm10 or aosp jb. I prefer the stock android look without mfg skinned UIs. I'm on aokp m6 ics right now, have been on one version or another since TCP started porting it in march. I use blu kuban to flash to to do prl and profile updates every so often but never stay on twiz roms more than 10 mins. On m6 I use the stock kernel times included, but have tried some of chris41gs kernels, however they broke a few things cuz i flashed them over an already set up rom instead of flashing them after a clean install, and the m6 I'm on has the internal and external SD locations switched around which confused the kernel and broke my SD storage so i went back to the stock kernel on this build til i decide to switch to another rom and do a clean install and start over from scratch

Galaxy Nexus Kernel?

Hey guys,
recently rooted my phone (for the first time) and flashed CM10. I've been reading about Kernels and how they can improve battery life and performance and stuff.
I haven't really understood how a kernel would work. Can I just flash it like how I flashed a ROM? Would it 'delete' my earlier CM10 kernel?
Which kernels are compatible with CM10? Which is the best for battery life and snappiness of the processor?
I've heard of Lean,PopcornKernal, and of course, francos.
Thanks,
Sahil
All of them are good. There isn't a best kernel. You should really stay away from asking those questions. And if you don't tune the kernel there is no way to get any difference than from stock.
Sent From My Toro+ via RED Tapatalk
Im not sure if cm10 requires its own set of kernels but my phone liked the air kernel (ran cooler) and lean (as a bonus removed the purply tint at lower brightness)

depends on the kernel, on the device and on the user.
mpu/core/iva voltages, smartreflex and color control are a few examples.

kernels are like the engine to a car/rom. They're pretty much what manages and drives everything, whereas the rom is like the entire OS.
Every ROM comes with a kernel by default but it can be replaced simply by flashing a kernel on top of it. Conversely, flashing a rom will replace whatever kernel you're running now with the rom's kernel.

Many kernels come with their apps (which can be found in their threads), or some apps might have access to some properties. Also, some roms (cm comes to mind) have access to some properties of some kernels, though there was a recent fuss made about incompatibility so its not perfect.
Franco Kernel
Hey guys! I want to root my GN and I'm a bit confused about what Kernel use...
I have seen this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367341
Did anyone try the newest version of Franco Kernel (r292)? What's about stability, battery drains, lags... ?
I'd recommend trying Franco's kernel out, it is supported by a nice updater app that can auto-flash the kernel and keep you informed of updates. Doing a bit of research yourself is also always recommended here - this site is for learning about your device. Good luck!
James bond kernal claims to be best in battry life , bt acc. To me trinity alpha 67 with setcpu profiles provide best results.

That doesn't indicate if its CM or TW. CM kernels are based on source from Samsung same as TW. OP should be updated to indicate TW-based kernel which I see has been done.

Agreed :good:
I just done some benchmark tests and they are pretty good in terms stock or ktoonsez kernel ( I've tried few configs about KT, but nothing like this one ) So the results are:
Quadrant: 6653
AnTuTu: 10469
Vellamo: Metal 627, HTML5 1889
20mins (on screen) doing benchmarks 5% battery
EDIT: @eaglerazor123 can you add date to the topic? It is easier to check for newer versions
And to ask again is it possible to ON the Fast Charging? In the very first post you say it is off by default so it means it can be enabled?
