[Q] Help upadating radio on my HTC Desire/Bravo/G7 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello to everyone,
First of all I really tried to find a dumb proof guide on how to update radio but... no success.
My Desire is rooted and S-Off and cm7r2 HBoot with 5.11.05.27 radio and running Runnymede AIO V6.0.4.3 S.E. from Sebastian15 and tried a couple of times to flash the 5.17.05.23 radio but I got both times errors.
Forgot to mention that I have 4Ext recovery and tried to flash it in recovery. I don't know if it was the wright way or if I should have done it another way.
If I offended anyone with my english please do concider that this ins't my native language. If there is a post out there on how to flash the latest radio with my HBoot please just point me to it.
I thank you all in advance.
Best regards.

Just one more thing
Forgot to say that even though some things, like this little one, are new to me I don't concider myself as being a noob. I admit that I am a constant reader of this vaste forum even though I haven't made myself noticed by posting, mostly due to my work, far too little free time on my hands.
Restpectfuly.

on cm7r2 hboot, your cache partition is now too small to flash radios, so now must be done through fastboot (safer anyway).
guide here
extract the radio.img from the zip, and always verify the md5 of the radio.img before flashing, can/will cause permanent brick if they don't match!

If I understud correctly I should extract radio.img file and move it to the root of the sd card and boot into recovery and flash it in fastboot.
Are there any other things I should know before proceding?
As always a nand backup.
After flashing the radio must I do anything else?
Thanks in advance.

don't think you can flash it from your sd card as far as i know.
you put the radio.img on your computer. put it somewhere easy to get to, like root of your c:\ drive.
then you can use the fastboot commands in the guide i linked you (skip the adb bit), or use the tools posted above.
remember to check md5 of the radio, search for it online and use a tool like md5check. a bad radio flash = brick!

Thx for the prompt reply. Will try tonight to flash using the utility.
Hope it will be flawless.

Hy guys,
Finnaly got to flash the radio.img yesterday using abd shell. Don't know why but never got android flasher to work.
Updated .NET to 4.0, installed the android USB drivers but it just hanged after it got my Desire into fastboot.
Read the instructions like a million times to see if I missed something, but no success.
Anyway... just wanted to say thanks for the help.
Sorry for the delayed reply but I'm between work and exams right now.
Best regards.

For all of the fun, dare you to look at this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958475&page=44 Post #440. It's funny, but it's not.
Anyway see the photo attached / below? Eng HBOOT done. Root done. CID done. Flashed 10x more ROMs in 2 days than I have had sleep in those 2 days.

How to flash radio without PC

Hi guys. I recently changed my desire for dhd and I would like to flash the latest radio. However I am away from home and don't have an access to PC. With my old desire I could flash the radio via clockwork. Is the same possible for dhd.

if you have the zip image flashable with clockwork mod u can... browse in the Desire hd radio thread...
but i do not recommend to you flash any radio from recovery... its not A safety mode....
use fastboot commander tool or flash it via adb of the sdk
take the radio thread link... and read the 2# post

cheeers
TAKE THE FASTBOOT COMMANDER TOOL link... flash radios with CWM its not a good idea... it´s old method ;D

BETTER IF U WAIT FOR TO USE A COMPUTERbecause i seen some threads of OP´s that has BRICKED devices for use CWM recovery for flash his baseband radios... the handset completly dead

I'd recommend the method from this thread instead as it's for the DHD and not Inspire: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054304 You don't have to use command prompt (adb push blablabla...) to get it on your sdcard, just copy it to your sdcard anyway you like (or download it to your phone and move it to the root of your sdcard) but remember to check md5sum!
I think its not blablabla,
there are many opinions about how to flash... Ihere are 3 or ..4,methods ro flash radios... Now he can choose one of them.. THIS IS THE REALLY IMPORTANT

You must have misundestood me, the OP was asking for a method to flash radio without a computer and the thread marsdta suggested is from the Inspire 4G forum. I atleast want to be 100% sure that the method used to flash the radio works on the DHD, as flashing the radio is one of the few ways to brick your phone if it goes wrong.
The thread that I suggested uses adb to move the zip-file from the computer to the phone, which isn't necessary. You can just download it straight to your phone or drag and drop it from your computer and move it to the root of your sdcard. I wrote the "adb push blablabla" just to show what I'm talking about and because I thought it was unnecessary to copy the entire command lines, no depreciation was meant.
Maybe we are talking of different things... Sorry if i offensed you... when i arrive to my house I'm going to edit the post for not create confussion...

I posted the link for the inspire thread because I was in it prior to posting here. In the thread the links were to the dhd radios. I found it easier for a quick response to post it. So apologies if I added to the confusion. But flashing for the dhd and inspire are the same as they basically the same phone.

Your find that is an incorrect statement, DHD as a back Radio, in case something goes wrong with flashing a new Radio.

Yes I know some people have thought of the possibility, but I haven't seen anyone confirm it? Except the story where leith flashed the wrong radio, but if he had let it boot normally how knows what would've happened. You still can brick your device by flashing a corrupted radio or by pulling the usb-cable/battery out during the process or are you willing to try it and prove me wrong?

Alright, well in that case But I still would recommend people to be sure they do it right (the radio flashing guides also tell the same story) just in case and be aware that there is a small chance. Maybe some people have just been lucky.

Different HBOOT TYPES.

Hi all. I'm new to this world so asking a, may be silly, question.
I play with roms every now and then. Change my rom from one to another in couple of weeks. I found STOCK HBOOT OFFERS LESS INTERNAL SPACE THAN CM7 OR CM7r2 hboots for custom roms.
I haven't experimented yet with these things. Can someone tell me how to convert my hboot to cm7 or cm7r2? I haven't done anything with my hboot so I suppose I'm on stock hboot. Difference between cm7 and cm7r2?
Any drawbacks of doing this? And will be able to flash app2sd and data2ext normally as I do now?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
The difference is that the hboot versions offer you a diffrent internal partition layout
you can look them up http://alpharev.nl/ <-- there
also you can download it from there
You can flash it via fastboot or via the PB99IMG.zip method or you simply use android flasher(recommanded, it´s selfexplaining)
Is there any chance of bricking my phone?
When I switch between roms sometimes I get stuck in boot loops. *no worries*
I just pull out the battery. Reboot in recovery and restore nandroid backup.
In this case I'm cautious because if I'm stuck where would I go because I'm playing with hboot. I think I won't be able to access recovery in that case, right?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You can brick it if your downloaded hboot.img is not downloaded correcly
If you are in a bootloop you simply go into fastboot and flash the correct table(hboot) and flash your ROM
and yes you will be able to boot into recovery(if youre in a bootloop)

If your download was corrupt or you pulled the cable in the seconds during the flashing period then you'd most probably brick your phone, but during my time on this forum I have never heard of any such misfortunes occurring..
By the way instead of posting try searching... this is just common knowledge info and can be found with a quick google search or a visit to alpharev.. it really isn't hard and not really worth posting a new thread about.

The nandroid needs to have the HBOOT you had, when you made that nandroid.
So if U had STOCK HBOOT when making a nandroid wich U like to go back to, then flash STOCK HBOOT - BEFORE - U nandroid back.
So for now... flash the HBOOT U want, and then right after the ROM.
And if U wanna restore your nandroid, then flash STOCK HBOOT, and then restore nandroid.
AND remember... U CAN NOT FLASH RADIO IF U ARE ON CM7R2 HBOOT,
that will brick your phone.
So flash RADIO before, OR do the procedure with ADB if U are already on CM7R2.

You do realise... the point of an md5 match is so that you know the thing that is uploaded.. is exactly the same thing that you downloaded... so... when it matches "hooray lets flash away"... when it doesn't "holy mother of god get the hell of my computer"... you sure you used it right?

he is using clockworkmod recovery uh the latest version. 5.x

Memories (even if they are right) does not help at all.
So tell your friend the following:
He should turn off his Desire, then press and hold volume down plus power button until a white screen with the androids at the bottom appears (he should see HBOOT in capital letters, blue highlighted). Now he should tell EVERYTHING what's written there and you post EXACTLY that here.
After this done, advise him to press the power button. Now he should see FASTBOOT in capital letters, red highlighted. If that's so, ask him turn off his Desire. If that's not so, let him tell you what happened instead and you post that here.
sorry late reply the hboot is the .93 one I said above.

[Q] HTC Wildfire S got boot looped !! I need some help

Hi everybody,
Good Morning. I Installed Tamil Unicode Font app on my rooted HTC wildfire S. That caused something wrong with the device. Now the phone shows the brand name with sound again and again (15-20 seconds Interval) when switched ON. The problem is I didn't have back up, since i rooted (@ htcdev.in) few days back only. I have installed CWM 5.0.2.6, Superuser, ROM tool box, busybox. Using Android 2.3.5, ROM ver is 2.13.720.1, HBOOT-1.08.0099.
What caused my device to boot again.?

Thanks for your reply.
I Have already downloaded this 164 mb exe from FOOTBALL's Stock ROM (RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.3_Radio_47.23c.35.3037_7.54.39.28M_release_236989_signed). Is this the right RUU (since my phone shows ROM ver 2.13.720.1)..?

I don't think that one will work. You have to use one that has a higher number than yours. And don't forget to make a goldcard.

Thanks for your effort. I followed the xda link.
When I run the flashy.exe no response from the phone (I have .net framework installed on pc)
The phone does not reboot and could not flash img's. The phone reboots again and again as usual.
thanks for reading.

Did you try running the Ruu normally? If that doesn't work, you can try my 'return to stock tutorial'

thanks. I tried running RUU from PC.
But couldn't get through. You can see in this attach file.
Thanks again.
My HTC Wildfire S has got stuck in boot-loops a few times, when a flash has gone wrong, for whatever reason. The only way I got mine back on track was to use Rezo's All-in-one tool to flash CWM Recovery, and go from there.
Link to Rezo's wonderful tool, which, by the way, is the only one that actually managed to root my Wildfire S in the first place... all the rest failed.

There is a file called runme.bat. Run it.
Menu after that is self-explanatory... you probably want option 10, "Install CWM Recovery". Do it, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Let it do its thing, and then hey presto, you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed. Your phone should automatically boot into it, so make sure you have the ROM you want to flash ready in ZIP format on your MicroSD card. Use the Volume Up/Volume Down softkeys to navigate the menus... you need to select "Install a ZIP from SD-Card", and then select to browse the SD card to find the zip... you use the search softkey to select items, rather than the power button. Browse to the ROM ZIP, and select it, let it flash it to your phone, and you have your ROM.
I Got back my Device !!! Thanks to all...
OMG !!!
I Got Back my HTC WildFire S, after 8 days of hopeless and restless !!.
But I never lost the confidence and keep trying (on the right track).
The method which helped me to clear the problem is here :
[TUTORIAL][NOOBPROOF] Return to Stock Rom after flashing CustomRom
go to :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21891784&postcount=1
and followed the instruction simply.
and it worked !
Now my HTC Wildfire S is working perfectly.
(Damn i will never install that Font App again)
Anyway thanks to all who supported me......
Note : If anybody wants to know more step by step details, I can certainly help. (post it here)
