I haven't test this mod yet. May I know whether the audio quality is changeable? If not, I would suggest keeping the original Camera.apk while make this Camera mod as another user app (since higher audio quality = higher MB consumed)

Well, the apk is deodexed, but if u rename ur Camera.odex in Camera.odex.bak (so u can have it as backup), u should be able to use my apk

No, audio quality isn't changeable. Thanks for the suggestion, if it's possible to make it as another user app, I'll do it

Update: added higher video bitrate in 720p mode. In first post i add link to thread that motivated and helped me to understand how to do changes. U can see that to modify media profiles there are just a bit of hexdecimal codes to change and they works the same in some devices (i see these changes also in galaxy S, S+, etc), I hope my changes can make relevant improvement to video and audio quality.
I'd like to make some other mods to remove limitation when battery is low, or to can use power button to make photos...unfortunately the codes for these changes is little different, and for now it's difficult for my knowledges to do but I'll return on it when I'll find some ideas on how i can do it
Also I need to learn some other things, for example how to make cwm flashable zip

Added new version that allow usage at any battery life

The application could not be installed

Are you trying to install like a normal apps? Since it's a system app u can't, u have to to do like i write in the how to, just go in /system/app, rename the old camera.apk in camera.apk.bak (and camera.odex in camera.odex.bak if u are in odexed rom), than put the new camera.apk...now all is done, in app drawer tap on camera and it should works

Since u are in stock rom, u have to rename Camera.odex in Camera.odex.bak (this is just to don't lose the file if u want to return to stock apk), and also rename Camera.Apk in Camera.apk, to be sure it is like mine

[31-MAY][FIX] Glitches on Ace/Desire S 2.3 ROMs - breaks Camera!

Hey guys,
just wanted to provide the fix for the graphics glitches on newer HTC 2.3 ROMs. Just replace the files from the attachment (gralloc stuff in /system/lib/hw) and the glitches will be gone. I tested it with my own Desire Ace ROM.
Maybe i forgot some dependencies, it has to be tested.
Thanks to Markinus for pointing me to it.
cheers
thanks mate. As i m a beginner, wonder what method should i use to apply your fix and other patches? Do I use the "install from .zip" method under CWM? thanks!
I get a File type not supported error on my phone after the download:-(
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
You have to place them in /system/lib/hw either by extracting it to your pc and uploading it to your phone via ADB, or do it on your phone somehow, or just wait for someone to make a CWM-package. I don't have a clue about CWM stuff so far, because i don't need it.
can you make cwm update .zip from this 7z file... plz
for all... its extract in PC...and than copy to sd card...and with root explorer replace files in system/lib/hw/
SO is this a fix for the sense 3.0 graphics glitches?
stability? does it kills camera?
need feedback!
uploaded a flashable zip file, based on a guide, haven't tested myself, do nandroid backup before flash!

Haha, hope this isn't another lib that kills the camera, or video playback for that matter.
I wouldn't be able to thank you enough gauner, if this works.
I replace the files....result....
The Glitches gone!!
But also the camera gone!!!!!!
Sooo I want my Glitches back
Yeah, this is just the original file that made the camera stop working, but had no glitches. Sorry gauner but this has been posted I think atleast once in each new sense 2.1+ thread, as everyone always asks how to remove glitches, but are always un aware the camera stops working..
Probably post that its the normal breaking camera file, so no one thinks its the source fix that should allow us to have a camera and no glitches coming out down the road (hopefully soon...)
close and delete this thread. completely useless.

you are not correct atleast he try
So these egl libs breaks the camera again? Can anyone confirm this?
yeah broke the cam on LeoRCMix S v.1.2 rom but the bug is still in gralloc.qsd8k.so and that broke the cam but when i replaced gralloc.default.so cam still works
Replaced only gralloc.default.so on LeoRCMix S v.1.2, camera works, weather videos became more choppy, but there are now less glitches, than it was before the fix

i noticed that but when i rebooted the phone it started to work normally.
Hmmm...might hold off until we get confirmation from more people....
No, i compiled these files myself. And i didn't notice it breaks camera, because i barely use it.

[RINGTONES] 20 Classic Ringtones [CWM package]

This is a CWM package that contains 20 ringtones made using theme songs from classic cartoons, TV shows, movies, video games and the ringtones from the Classic Mobile Phone, the Nokia 3310,converted into .ogg format. Some files have been obtained through the internet as mp3 files others have been recorded by me from the source (example video game themes).
You may open the package to listen to the music files ( .ogg Opens in VLC Player )
You may also delete the music files that you don't want, before installing the package.
All the 20 files start with the letters 'aa' to keep the ringtones in a group.
It is the first time I am doing this.
So only for those who want to take risks.
Make a back-up.
If you have any problem after the first boot try rebooting.
If you want to delete the files from the phone, the system should be write-enabled. For this you may use an app like Damian Tweak from the market.
You would also need a system file explorer like Yaffs Explorer. If you are using Yaffs Explorer, go to its settings and enable root. The ringtones would be located in the folder /system/media/audio/ringtones/
Enjoy the ringtones .
NOTE: Make sure that you have enough space in the system before you install this.

Is this only applicable for SGS i9000 or other phones as well ?
Edit--
Can confirm this as working on Galaxy S II I9100 as well and yes, the ringtones are awesome!

I have not tried on any other phone.
You may try it if you want to .
Please reply if it works .
Make sure that your other ringtones are in the folder /system/media/audio/ringtones/ using a system file explorer.
Alternative method
- Find out where your ringtones are located.
- Download the zip package.
- extract the .ogg files
- copy the files to your sd card
- make sure that the system is write enabled
- copy the files from the sd card to the right folder
it works great on my SGS II. just flashed the file through CWM and voilà
Thanks for replying
Stays it the original SGS melody after installing these tunes?

Modded media_profiles.xml for CM7 [BETTER AUDIO QUALITY WHILE RECORDING]

I have been working on a modifying the Media_Profiles.xml file from the original CM7 rom to try and get better Audio Bitrates while recording HD Videos as alot of you might already noticed.. the camera audio is SH#T at stock.
So here it is! Modded and ready to be tested!
Now, when you record in HD, audio will be 128 kbps CD Quality!
By installing this mod, I take no responsibility. If your device explodes after installing this, well it was your decision to install it
Instructions:
**The Zip contains both old Media_profiles and the new Modded one**The zip is not to be flashed directly with Recovery**
**You must extract the Media_Profile Manually**
1- Download the Media_profiles.xml attached to this post
2- Transfer it to your phone
3- Get Root Explorer or something similar to.
4- Copy it from your SD-Card and paste it in System/Etc
5- When it asks to overwrite existing, say yes. (make sure you Mounted R/W)
6- Find the new Media_profiles.xml you just pasted in the System/Etc folder
7- Long press it and change permissions, (I basically checked everything to make sure)
8- Reboot
9- Voila!
Note:
Tested to be working on CM7 Only.
Won't work on HTC Roms (you can try but most likely, it wont work)
After applying the patch difference:

If this is in the wrong section, well move it to the right one Thanks

I will test this out this weekend when I have a few spare minutes.

Sounds alot better than standard, do I need to add this even if I have Cyan 7.1 RC?
I think so.. never tested on cm7 rc1 (I'm on rc1 too) but since I got a real camera.. I don't need to do this anymore..
I suggest you back up the original and try this one.. (nandroid backup is recommended just in case cuz this ffile is not from rc1)

Hacked FM radio?

A couple of roms have a hacked fm radio that works on low battery and without the headphones.. any separate APK. That can we download and install. (Or flash )?
You need modified services jar not an apk
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
SO, where do I get or how do I modify services.jar ??
btw, @DAGr8, you used to make HTC Touch Pro ROMs right? I remember using your ROMs, there were great. (or maybe that was another person?)
firs place would be searching modification thread

Camera fix for CyanogenMod-7-20120920-NIGHTLY-gio

View ROM thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899615
For me it's a great ROM, it's fast and stable. THANK YOU marcin1147!!!
But it has one nasty bug that seems to have not been fixed in a long time: Captured pictures and videos are rotated.
What i did is take an older camera.apk (from phiexz's CM 7.2 20120421- Nightly; Thank you phiexz!!!) and replace the original one.
Download here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/p666az1ed9lpfo2/Camera.apk
Copy the downloaded camera.apk to your SDcard.
I used Link2sd to remove the original camera app.
Then with file manager navigate to SD card and install downloaded camera.apk
Use link2sd to make system app (so not to uninstall by mistake).
Reboot.
Enjoy!
You can also replace the camera.apk in the zip before installing the rom.
I posted here because i can't yet post in dev section. If someone wants they can move this to ROM thread...

This fix has only one downside... Has the bug of ignoring turning off shutter sound. Is there any chance there will be another release with none of the two bugs? I mean rotation and shutter sound bugs.

Actually for me it's already bugfree .. i installed camera patch and that the FM radio is not working i don't care (never use it ) haha but it will be cool if we have official .. just that feeling xD

I agree that this build is pretty cool. For me FM radio is not a issue, I do not use it. After replacing launcher with stock one and some personal tweaks it is by far best rom I ever used on GIO. So if this little bug with camera is fixed, I will be fully satisfied.
