Modded media_profiles.xml for CM7 [BETTER AUDIO QUALITY WHILE RECORDING] - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

I have been working on a modifying the Media_Profiles.xml file from the original CM7 rom to try and get better Audio Bitrates while recording HD Videos as alot of you might already noticed.. the camera audio is SH#T at stock.
So here it is! Modded and ready to be tested!
Now, when you record in HD, audio will be 128 kbps CD Quality!
By installing this mod, I take no responsibility. If your device explodes after installing this, well it was your decision to install it
Instructions:
**The Zip contains both old Media_profiles and the new Modded one**The zip is not to be flashed directly with Recovery**
**You must extract the Media_Profile Manually**
1- Download the Media_profiles.xml attached to this post
2- Transfer it to your phone
3- Get Root Explorer or something similar to.
4- Copy it from your SD-Card and paste it in System/Etc
5- When it asks to overwrite existing, say yes. (make sure you Mounted R/W)
6- Find the new Media_profiles.xml you just pasted in the System/Etc folder
7- Long press it and change permissions, (I basically checked everything to make sure)
8- Reboot
9- Voila!
Note:
Tested to be working on CM7 Only.
Won't work on HTC Roms (you can try but most likely, it wont work)
After applying the patch difference:

If this is in the wrong section, well move it to the right one Thanks

veeeeery interesting. I'm intrigued.
I will test this out this weekend when I have a few spare minutes.

Sounds alot better than standard, do I need to add this even if I have Cyan 7.1 RC?

I think so.. never tested on cm7 rc1 (I'm on rc1 too) but since I got a real camera.. I don't need to do this anymore..
I suggest you back up the original and try this one.. (nandroid backup is recommended just in case cuz this ffile is not from rc1)

This mod should really be brought up to CM7 Rom makers, works like a charm!

UPDATE: here is the URL for the other topic on this it is more stable and recommended to this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885967
This will help you remap the personalize shortcut on the DHD roms to either the browser, contacts, facebook, gallery, gtalk, gvoice, maps, market, or messaging. I have tested this on Evil D's DHD rom. DOESN'T WORK WITH GORILLAS ROM.

Before I post anything all credit goes to the1wingedangel I got all the files and information from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=887208
All you have to do is rename Rosie_XXX.apk to Rosie.apk and with root explorer (or something similar) overwrite the Rosie.apk in the /system/app folder. I will upload the files on here for convenience, all the files are named after what the application that will replace the personalization icon; for screenshots go to the above link.
P.S mms is messaging.
last 2 files
These wont work on Gorrillas Roms. Was going to post the1wingedangels link in my thread to try and keep all this stuff together. These Rosies will only work for 1 rom on these forums and it is Evils 4GHD port.
You can get these mods in my post HERE along with the ones for Gr8Gorilla's Rom. And they are in zip format so its alot easier and works better than trying to use Root Explorer.
I tried Rosie_facebook, copied from SDcard root to system/ app. Reboot phone and it got stuck at the HTC quietly brilliant for 45 min. Had to boot into recovery and reflashed evil d HD 2.2
I haven't rebooted yet.let me check that out

No, audio quality isn't changeable. Thanks for the suggestion, if it's possible to make it as another user app, I'll do it
Update: added higher video bitrate in 720p mode. In first post i add link to thread that motivated and helped me to understand how to do changes. U can see that to modify media profiles there are just a bit of hexdecimal codes to change and they works the same in some devices (i see these changes also in galaxy S, S+, etc), I hope my changes can make relevant improvement to video and audio quality.
I'd like to make some other mods to remove limitation when battery is low, or to can use power button to make photos...unfortunately the codes for these changes is little different, and for now it's difficult for my knowledges to do but I'll return on it when I'll find some ideas on how i can do it
Also I need to learn some other things, for example how to make cwm flashable zip
Added new version that allow usage at any battery life

Are you trying to install like a normal apps? Since it's a system app u can't, u have to to do like i write in the how to, just go in /system/app, rename the old camera.apk in camera.apk.bak (and camera.odex in camera.odex.bak if u are in odexed rom), than put the new camera.apk...now all is done, in app drawer tap on camera and it should works

[UPDATED][Share][Tweaks] PIMP MY ROM (Try V.2.1 out!)

Original thread, link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908269
Basically this tweak will modify "Init.d", "Build.prop" and add some features.
I've been using it for a day now without noticing any difference (not that I expected to be super noticeable), but I'd like to know if you guys notice any performance boost.
Lets share and compare!
edit: it should work now, but if your installer takes a second to finish, read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32865023&postcount=20

edit: additional lines in "Init.d" and "Build.prop" are added, just check yours to confirm.
Using MIUIXXX, selected AOSP Gingerbread when installing this. I installed this on the Nexus 7 as well and the installation (after picking all the items) took about 15secs on that one, but on my SGA it took 1second instead, so I'm not 100% sure it's working. The difference between the options that I used on the Nexus 7 was that I also installed 6-7 themes (which might explain the longer wait). Still, it does makes sense that the installation would take really fast since basically the only thing that was added/changed in my SGA was plain text.
I posted it here so maybe some of you could confirm that it does improve our phone.

Hey, guys! Tried V.2 for MDPI, I flashed it choosing stock gingerbread (instead of AOSP) and
I instantly felt a faster overall performance! I'd like someone else to test it out to confirm that this isnt a placebo effect xD
And also, it took like a sec to install this time as well but as I said, it seem to work!
note: I skipped the multitasking step since I had no idea which one suited me.
Make a backup before flashing
edit: for instant, try opening titanium backup (which usually takes awhile)

Swap files!
HEy. IF you were to go see the original PMR thread, you would see that in order for it to work on some devices, you have to switch binary-update-installer from the ROM you have (the roms' .zip file) to the PMR zip file.
Just follow my guide:
Open the zip of the rom you are running (the .zip file that you flash in recovery)
Inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android
Extract the file called "update-binary" and rename it to "update-binary-installer"
Open Pimp my Rom's zip (i.e : PIMP_MY_ROM-v1.4.1-Universal.zip)
Inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android and delete "updater-binary-installer"
Now copy the "update-binary-installer" file you extracted from your rom to Pimp My Rom's zip (still in META-INF/com/google/android)
Close the zip and flash it, the installation process should now work normally so you can Pimp your Rom !
this goes to everyone who experience a problem when pressing INSTALL and it finishes in a second, without any logs showing.
Have a nice day, press THANK YOU if it worked

Camera fix for CyanogenMod-7-20120920-NIGHTLY-gio

View ROM thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899615
For me it's a great ROM, it's fast and stable. THANK YOU marcin1147!!!
But it has one nasty bug that seems to have not been fixed in a long time: Captured pictures and videos are rotated.
What i did is take an older camera.apk (from phiexz's CM 7.2 20120421- Nightly; Thank you phiexz!!!) and replace the original one.
Download here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/p666az1ed9lpfo2/Camera.apk
Copy the downloaded camera.apk to your SDcard.
I used Link2sd to remove the original camera app.
Then with file manager navigate to SD card and install downloaded camera.apk
Use link2sd to make system app (so not to uninstall by mistake).
Reboot.
Enjoy!
You can also replace the camera.apk in the zip before installing the rom.
I posted here because i can't yet post in dev section. If someone wants they can move this to ROM thread...

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this working?

Waiting for your Android 4.0.4 Sense 4.1 :good:
Well I managed to get it to show Boot animation, I edited the build.prop.
I still can't get a logcat, I tried to make an init.d script to logcat a file to the sdcard, but that didn't want to work.
I'm using my own guide now, but no matter what I do it doesn't boot.. anyone else able to help?
I've also switched base to Asia HK 2.24.708.1, it isn't much different from the telus_wwe base I was using.
That thread your using wont work for Sense. You have to use Rom Kitchen Porting. I managed to get the Desire X 1.14.401.1 working but the camera didn't. And it was real slow. I've been trying the same. I've had a bunch of working ones, they just sucked.

I don't use that thread anymore to port. Link me to the ROM kitchen porting? Oh, and for camera:
libchromatix*.so
LibOlaEngine.so
LibOlaEngineNew.so
libhtccamera.so
liboemcamera.so
libcamera*.so
libmm*.so
In /system/etc:
media_profiles.xml

I don't know of a guide. Its pretty self explanatory in Rom Kitchen using its porting tool. Maybe I could give it a try and upload a base for you.

I'm going to try using the kitchen porter.. just downloaded the master from github, just waiting for 1.18.401.1 from DX to finish downloading.
Delete- figured it out!
I used the android kitchen to port it, I can't get it to boot now. Does anyone have any ideas? (Sorry for all the double posts ._.)

Yeah I've been trying without luck as well. It probably has to do with different screen size, symlinks and or 4.03 as base. Ill mess around for a bit. I'm not sure if your just trying to get 4.04. I managed to port Desire S 4.0.4 but it was slow and the camera didn't work as I said.

I got http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006392 working. For myself. Thats the one I had problems with though. You need to gut a lot of stuff out of it. And I don't know if he would allow public porting or not. If you want help we could do it together. I still have a booting rom from that. I know a bit more now so I think I could do it better.

Yeah, I've also got my own method of porting that doesn't require a lot of gutting and produces a working ROM. It just doesn't work for Desire X sense ports..
