Hey there ppl, has anyone tested 4.1.B.0.431 enough to say that the video cam, the sound, the smoothness and battery life are any better?
What is this version? The unreleased version of ics that Sony is working on ? Or just a Rom tweak?
Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk 2
it is an unreleased branded version of 4.0.4. It is branded to 3UK however, zdzihu has removed the 3UK bloat and made it available for our Arcs.
which means that Sony will test this version, 4.0.4, and release it for the rest of the us soon right?
I bought the Arc S in India 2 days ago with ICS out of the box. I found some minor and one major problem. The minor problems include laggy and sometimes unresponsive software, the phone app takes a lot of time to launch, and once or twice the screen froze with an incoming call, and I couldn't pick it up. I guess a firmware update would fix these. But the major problem I am facing is with the camera. It takes fine pics when all settings are in AUTO mode. But, whenever I change it from AUTO to NORMAL, I see a green tinged circle at the center of the picture, even while it is being taken (i.e. on screen), and circular tinges on the 4 corners. On more investigation, I found it to be a problem with the White Balance setting. Whatever I set for White Balance, I face this problem. However, everything is fine if White Balance is set to AUTO. I don't know whether this is a hardware problem with my unit, as if it were, the AUTO mode would also show the same tinge. Anybody else have this problem? I'm a little apprehensive of taking this down to the service center, as SE service is horrible, and they will totally wreck the phone cosmetically. Any ideas? Please help.
I'm attaching a couple of pics to demonstrate the problem. The upper one is in AUTO mode, the lower one in NORMAL Mode, with sunny day white balance setting.

Greetings,
I just bought an htc desire. I do however have BIG problem.
As soon as i call someone, the screen goes dark (read it is normal) but, i CANNOT get out of the dark screen, i cannot hang up or unlock the phone, the unlock key does nothing, nor does any other key.
Whats happening?
maybe youre holding one of your fingers over the proximity sensor left to the phone output, or your proximity sensor may suffer hardware faults
the second option really does not sound too good, for a NEW phone
is there no way to disable the sleep option on call???
I don't think there is, that is a needed function. Otherwise, you would do many things with your face over the screen.
Still, my sensor works normal. If I cover it (hand, ear or whatever at the earphone), the display goes off and locks, if I uncover it the display is on and active. And I can do this many times.
i installed "show sensors" and for the proximiti sensor (cm3602) it says reading 0.0 and accuracy high, the number NEVER changes :/
I don't think that anyone from the forums can help you, it's obviously hardware problem. Why you don't just take it to HTC for repairment/replacement?
Btw, show sensors for my proximity sensor say 1.0 when I don't touch it, and 0.0 when I place a finger on the earphone. It's too obvious that your proximity sensor is off.
looks like i have no choise, im gonna have to bring it back in and wait it comes back from support, gonna be without phone for a while :'(

Do you have a case or an "invisible" shield covering the sensor?
Regards,
Dave
sadly, no, its out of the box. i dont even know where is the sensor tough
It's on the left side of the earphone
Aproximate position, not sure about the exact position.

It should read 1.0 unless the sensor is covered (moving an object over the sensor changes its value to 0), so it appears that you have a faulty device
is the support of htc any good? will i have to wait long to get my baby back? anyone knows?
I called HTC belgium this morning. They made a ticket and said ill receive an email that i have to print and give to the delivery guy tomorow with the phone, between 8 and 12 am.
Now the funny part is, I STILL DID NOT RECEIVE THE DAMN EMAIL.
I called 3 or 4 times, send 4 messages via their ticket system, gave 3 different email adresses to be sure. And i STILL DO NOT HAVE IT, its been like SEVEN damn hours...
They are one hour out of closing, and there is no way ill get it tomorow before the delivery guy comes.
I'm about to go berserk right now, is it always like that with them?
Hey,
i had the same problem that i noticed after root... have you rooted or installed different rom?? Also i send it to repair what they did was updated the rom to the newest one and and restored contacts of the sensor.... but it might be only the rom if you had flashed it. If not then you have to send it to repair or exchange it.
i did not flash it nor root it

Then its a hardware problem, maybe loose connection from the sensor, in that case either repair or exchange
I feel sorry for you... I was without the phone for about 2 weeks for exactly same issue
Hi there,
i am fairly new to the HTC and Android scene. Yesterday i got my HTC One X and the very first i noticed is a problem with the contrast.
Especially when it goes from grey to black, there are blocks visible. It is a bit difficult to make a photo of this issue, but i think you can see it clearly.
Is this a known issue? Can i do something about that?

Many thanks.
That's not contrast.
That is an image that seems to either compression artifacts or was produced with too little bit depth.
There's nothing wrong with the phone, it is faithfully reproducing a crappy image.
This was just an example. It shows the menu of a program (i think google maps).
I have also some photos that look the same where a black area goes into a brighter area.
Also some of dark HTC widgets, like the clock show this.
Like i said, difficult to make a photo of this issue:
Any problems viewing this?
Probably you mean these horizontal stripes. They are there when you look at the angle, but when you look straight, they are not there. I guess this is a problem due to technology used and it looks the same on mine One X. Also, AFAIR there are two different displays used in HOX, both from different manufactures and one of them doesn't have this problem but there are some other minor problems like smaller contrast or brightness, can't exatcly remember right now. It also annoys me but generally it is still the best phone screen I've ever seen and somehow I can get over it

these widgets in particular, and a lot of other things are supposed to change colour gradients, the notification bar being another.
just makes it look more fancy/3d
personally i don't think you have any problems except for the colour depth of the image not being enough, and that is why you see that, if there was more depth, then more detail and you wouldn't see that blocking
try switch your pc to a lower colour depth and youll see the exact same effect.

Thanks. I had the same idea and it looks normal. I also upgrade it to CM10 which does not have these grey to black transitions at all.
So no problem there, just poor graphics by HTC.
Thanks
My big problem, that you can see it on image, is always after I have my note 8 some minutes with screen off. I push power button and it apears something image. After some minutes, or if I shake it a little, or if I touch somewhere on screen (not always), or aleaotory, it becomes in good image, and, it doesn't repeat problem until I close screen and wait some minutes again. One intend to found the origen of problem: software or hardware, I have rebooted note 8 quickly while problem is active, but it resets showing problem from initial splash of note 8 starting process... anybody with same problem?

never seen another user complain about that one...that is definitely an issue id want fixed via warranty
did you try to do a hard reset? like brand new out of the box?
if it still persists then...then its def hardware
I've seen this before on other tablets and laptop LCD screens.
It's almost certainly a hardware problem. The display cable that connects the screen to the mainboard is either coming loose or nearly broken.
In your case, it looks like the cable or connector is being shifted when you shake it. When that happens, the pins on the cable that carry the vertical data lines are being disconnected, so you see the horizontal stripes on the screen.
Eventually, or through another shake or touch, the failing cable makes contact again and everything seems to work fine. Until the next time it happens.
This problem is only going to get worse and more frequent over time. It's definitely a warranty issue.
I don't know if enyone encountered this but I thing there is a bug with either with gyroscope calibration / accuracy or new google camera
I recently tried the photosphere and panorama on cm11 and I noticed that direction is changing kinda random so when I took a shot it isn't aligned correctly with others and all ends up in a mess .
If google camera works well for you then how can I reset the gyroscope / compass ?

Most likely something it's wrong with gyroscope indeed . I tried other apps and like teeter or lane spliter and it's not very precise .
I hope it's not hardware fault so does anyone know a software solution to correct this ?
Any idea appreciated !
This is probably not anything to go after, but:
When I first installed the Google Camera app and tried it out, it worked as you would expect. Wasn't perfect, but definitly didn't "drift away" by itself while capturing a panorama/sphere. When I tried watching a sphere, the app prompted me to download "google services" from play store, which then let me watch the sphere.
But now I have the same problem with "drifting away" gyro, as you have.
So maybe the google services is messing with the gyro when using photo sphere/panorama.
I have the same issue. The gyro world's fine for a few seconds then it starts drifting away. I've always had this issue.

I have this problem too on S2 Plus. Trying to take a panoramic picture but the image drifts by itself to the left.
I have the same issue on my 2 years old htc one m7. Also same issue appeared on 1 month old LG G4 !!!
I take the first frame in photospere mode, and then blue dot drifts left or right.

Today I noticed interesting thing: in pthotosphere mode I took first frame and passing bus hit the shot. After that, orientation started sliding to the side where bus was going, although phone was still. So I believe its software issue of application itself. Seems that it is trying to syncronize video flow to compass and somehow fails in it...
Thats what i got

Greetings, now that there is a new root method (towelroot) for the new firmware 15.4.A.1.9 (Android 4.3) for single sim Xperia M I am interested to update but ONLY if the camera's blueish tint problem has been fixed. Otherwise it's pointless.
I am on Android 4.1.2, 15.1.C.2.8 and the blueish tint problem under certain lighting conditions is well documented. But what is not documented is whether the newest firmware fixes this...
Can anyone help a brother out?
Questions go in the Q&A section and not here. Please post questions there in the future.
Darn, didn't realize this was gonna be such a hard question to answer. I guess this phone really is a low-use device
No I didn't notice anything blueish... It is fine by me

Yeap,still there.
Not sent from my Xperia.
Well, there's no more bluish tint in my camera in JB 4.3.
But, if it still bluish, try to use other camera software :fingers-crossed:
If it really still bluish, well you need to go to service center :silly:
Bug is still there but not so common. This bug can be easly "enabled" via few steps:
1. Find place with weak light source
2. Open camera - everything is fine
3. Cover camera lens with something for few seconds
4. Uncover it - everthing is blue
For me it happens with JB 4.1.2 with certain types of indoor light and background. Often I would be at a restaurant and take pics of my girlfriend with the white balance set to Auto and the whole pic is bluish. Changing the White Balance to fluorescent then fixes it. Have duplicated this blue tint problem at many locations and backgrounds. My girlfriend also has an Xperia M with the same problem so I know it's not my phone specifically plus this problem has been talked about many many times on this and other forums.
Using another camera app does not help (I tried at least seven different ones). But I chose Snap Camera due to the ability to place a quick toggle for the white balance (so not to get blue freakin pics all the time)
