I found an Incredible on the ground...yeah on the ground...I charged it up and powered it on but it stayed at the white boot screen...I tried to do a master reset and got the same results...the next time that I did the vol down + power I noticed some green lettering saying checking sd...then it said no image...I don't think it has a custom rom but it could(I found the phone) I also noticed that it said S-on at the top of the screen...Someone please help...

Try doing an ruu thru hboot. Download this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.06.605.3/PB31IMG.zip, and place it on the sdcard in no folders. Then boot to hboot ( vol down + power ). It should find the file and prompt you to press vol up to update. If all goes well it will prompt to press vol up to reboot, and then boot up normally.

You shouldn't need to keep them pressed. For me I just hold vol- and as soon as I've pressed the power button (and it's obvious it is powering on - normally instant) I let go.
Just as a by-the-by comment, being someone that looks at a lot of posts I see more issues with RCMix ROM than any other especially about recovery or flashing (even taking into account the popularity or it).
So here's the deal. I tried to unroot my phone back to stock, following instructions from the youtube video
How to Un-Root the HTC Droid Incredible by droseum20
I managed to find the files elsewhere, since megaupload is down.
Went through the steps, and in the end, once i tried to turn my phone on, it vibrated once and stayed on the black screen.
I tried to turn the phone back on/go to hboot screen, with the power button + VOL Down button, but nothing. (still black screen)
So I would like to try this method, since the screen is black and I can't see anything:
Method 1:
Download: liveimage.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_F...crut4wrv30.zip and rename it to update.zip then follow instructions given by teppic74

1. Make sure the update.zip (NOT update.zip.zip!) file is on your goldcard and correctly named.
2. Take the battery out first to ensure the phone is powered off. Then hold vol down and press the power button, and hold vol down for about 5 seconds. That will get you into the bootloader even though you can't see it.
3. Press vol down once. This will select recovery.
4. Press the power button once. This will start the recovery. The phone will vibrate briefly.
5. Wait 20 seconds or so. Then press vol up and the power button and wait a few seconds. You'll now be in system recovery.
6. Press vol down once to select 'apply sdcard:update.zip'.
7. Press the power button once to start the recovery.
8. After a few seconds press the power button once again.
The link provided in this instructional is down and doesn't work.

But what do I do with them?
How can I basically reboot my Droid Incredible blindly?

Not sure where you got those instructions or files from, but there not for the incredible.
Heres what you do.
Download this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.06.605.3/PB31IMG.zip, and put it on the root of your sdcard in no folders.
Pull the battery, reinsert, and press vol down +power for 5 secs then wait for 5 mins not touching anything.
Press vol up and then wait for 20 minutes touching nothing. The phone will reboot once during the process, this is normal just let it be.
Press vol up, the phone should reboot and come up being able to see things and boot to the os normally.
I keep getting messages telling me that the original PB31IMG is an older version and I cannot get my phone to boot up. I get the white HTC splash screen and it shuts off and reboots again and again. I can get into HBOOT Menu, but cannot seem to install any ROMS.
I am clueless about all this stuff.
Any help?

Hey I have an evo that was running madwoz jb rom. like a dummy I try to put it to stock using older ruu. it went through setup and said it was finished. now my evo only turns on to a lit black screen. vibrates once with power button with black lit screen. with power plus vol down it doesn't vibrate just lit black screen. thought it was total brick. but when I press vol down and power I can press up or down a couple time and press power and either restart phone or I think enter recovery but with black lit screen. I say that because when plugged to usb and messing with buttons pressing vol and power after it shows on device manager. also adb devices will recognizes the evo but it has recovery beside the serial number instead of device. in this state I cant even read and copy files through adb. but phone stays blank. I really need help. I have no clue what to do.

Only thing I can think of is putting the stock pc36img.zip file on the sd root folder and trying to get into hboot. If you still cant see the screen check you tube on evo hboot and then at least you can see if you need to hit up or down to confirm installation.
I have a desire hd which was previously at Android 2.3 Sense 2.1. I used AAHK2 fastboot mode to install custom unlocked hboot. After custom hboot was installed, I downloaded the official update for Sense 3.0 Android 2.3.5. The update downloaded and booted into recovery and it stuck on the recovery. After some time, the stuck still remained so I removed the battery and tried to reboot into bootloader but instead of bootloader, the same recovery opens which is stuck. Please help sorry for my bad english.
Bootloader not opening nor phone showing any response when I connect it to PC in semi-recovery state.
can you more cleared explained what do you mean by "semi recovery state"?
is the phone still can turn it on..?
what happen while you tried pressing and holding vol down+power button...?

Thanks for your reply, I have attached the screenshot to show you what I mean by semi-recovery state. When I tried pressing the Vol Dn + Power button, the screenshot I attached appears. Also, I wanted to tell you that before applying the official update, I used AAHK 2 to attain S-OFF and SuperCID on my device :'(

if the process bar is not ever finish..just tried removed your battery..then removed your sdcard too..then put it in back again just your battery (leave the sdcard out)..then try it to booting your phone to the bootloder with pressing and hold vol down+power again..just let me know what happen..?

Hey Guys
So my friend gave me a Note 2 with 4.1.1 that's stuck in safe mode.
So i tried installing TWRP to install a KitKat rom, but i forgot to format data "stupid me :\"
anyways at first it booted till the part where it's "optimizing apps"
after it got to "finishing boot" it rebooted and, well, it's stuck in a bootloop.
so i tried getting into recovery by pressing the 3 buttons, it just continues with booting into the bootloop.
then i tried getting in download mode, it gets to the warning screen, but it refuses to continue when i press the volume up button :|
any help?? thank you

perhaps try to reboot you phone by long press power button...
if you could get the phone to be recognized by adb then you could use:
adb reboot download
to get to download mode.
Just a reminder:
TWRP :Vol Up + Home + Power (Release Power Button when samsung logo appears, keep holidn Vol Up + Home untill you see TWRP )
Download Mode: Vol Down + Home + Power, then press up when warning appears.
Hope this helps.
