Need Help! Only displays lit black screen! - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey I have an evo that was running madwoz jb rom. like a dummy I try to put it to stock using older ruu. it went through setup and said it was finished. now my evo only turns on to a lit black screen. vibrates once with power button with black lit screen. with power plus vol down it doesn't vibrate just lit black screen. thought it was total brick. but when I press vol down and power I can press up or down a couple time and press power and either restart phone or I think enter recovery but with black lit screen. I say that because when plugged to usb and messing with buttons pressing vol and power after it shows on device manager. also adb devices will recognizes the evo but it has recovery beside the serial number instead of device. in this state I cant even read and copy files through adb. but phone stays blank. I really need help. I have no clue what to do.

Only thing I can think of is putting the stock pc36img.zip file on the sd root folder and trying to get into hboot. If you still cant see the screen check you tube on evo hboot and then at least you can see if you need to hit up or down to confirm installation.

desire z stuck on android skaters screen

Hello Everyone, I am a totally newbie.
I had a opening problem of Desire z with my first time root tried.
I followed every instructions, first of all it seems that everything was ok,
after adb settings, it was stuck on HTC logo screen. so I started with Hboot menu and I had to choose factory settings, secondly I cleared wipe datas, after it my phone was rebooted,
Now my phone was stuck on 03 green android robot which are skating on white screen. There is no text at the top or bottom.
For now i can not use hboot menu even I tried volume down + power button.
There are some options;
When ever I tried to press and hold volume up + volume down + power = it
has vibrated 4-5 times and green red light blinks.
Screen is black and nothing happen
When ever I tried to press and hold volume down + power = red led ligt blinks
I also tried to plug it on my computer via USB, nothing changes. Only my computer recognise a usb entrance but can not find any driver ( it is the same sound when you plug a usb into your computer)
I hope that I can explain my problems....
Waiting for your help, thanks
no reply i'm losing my hope to get my phone back
can you show a link to which guide you followed and where things went wrong exactly, also if you remember any specifics about your phone before you started

[Q] Phone won't boot. Vibrates three times. Need advice.

My G2 won't boot normaly and is acting very straingly. I did a search of other similar problems people have had, but nothing matches what is happening to mine. It started when I noticed my power button and volume up button stoped working. I assumed it was a glitch and thought a reboot might help. Since the power button wasn't functioning, I pulled the battery to reboot it. That's when it stoped working. When I turn it on normaly with the power button, the screen stays off, it vibrates three times, and the led blinks orange untill I put the battery. If I attempt to boot into recovery with the button combination, it does the same. If I attempt to boot into HBoot, it vibrates five times and the led lights up solid green. Here's where things get realy strange. When I plug the phone into the charger while the phone is off, after about five seconds the phone comes on into the recovery bootloader even though when I boot while holding the buttons it dosn't work. I have the ClockworkMod touch recovery installed. From within the recovery I have full access to everything including ADB with root access. When I select the reboot option from recovery, it does the same thing with the vibrating and the blinking led. I tried the key test in the recovery and I discovered that my volume up button only works intermitently and my power button seems to be working fine. I haven't attempted to flash a new rom yet because I'm assuming it must be something else since I can't even access HBoot, and I'm scared if I touch anything I'll loose access to recovery and ADB as well.
Any advice? Could a damaged volume up button contact cause all this to happen? Should I try flashing it from recovery even though I can't access HBoot?
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.

Just tried it. Screen goes black, vibrates three times, and led blinks orange untill I pull the battey. It was a good Idea though, I didn't think to try that myself.
you know what, are these very quick vibrates? you mentioned there is a problem with your volume rocker (sticky keys?) your phone may be trying to get into the jtag/download mode.
not sure how to use this mode on the vision but tell me if this is the same response you get.
take out battery, hold both volume buttons, plug phone into computer.
it should vibrate three times rapidly and computer should look for driver :
Qualcomm CDMA Technolgies MSM driver
not sure where to get the proper driver for the vision but ive used this mode to root other android phones and i know there is a "unbricking project" for various phones that use this mode.
nothing for the vision that i know of though.
but being you have adb access maybe test a few things first like see if anything is accessible from your emmc
type:
Code:
adb shell
dmesg | grep mmc0
and see what happens
edit:
i can replicate you situation by holding volume up while powering on
you have a stuck volume up key, almost 100% just open up phone and clean it out and you should be just fine!

HTC Desire HD won't boot up (rooted)

My friend gave me HTC Desire HD (for free) saying I could keep it. It worked for about a month and then out of nowhere just stopped working.
I tried:
- Holding power button
- Holding power + volume button
- Holding power + other volume button
But nothing happens.
When I connect it to USB cable, an orange dot starts blinking on the left top of the phone and ClockWorkMod opens (note: I'm not pressing ANY button, it opens itself).
But after Clockworkmod opens, it closes before I can get to do anything. Clockworkmod is there for about 5-10 seconds and then the phone shuts back down and I need to reconnect it to usb cable again to show clockworkmod again, or sometimes the clockworkmod shows itself back again for no reason.
I tried doing some stuff like installing rom from sdcard, but clockwork mod closes before I can even choose any option, or even if I do get to choose it, the screen turns black again in the middle of the operation.
I sadly don't have any other info on the phone at the moment because my friend isn't available, All I can tell is that the ClockworkMod is version v5.0.2.7 and it says "Ace hack kit" with blue font in the middle of the screen.
I need the phone for development purposes so it would be really great if someone could help me fix it, any idea what could be wrong? thank you!
EDIT: I also have no information on which ROM was on that phone and if it is really rooter or not (but since there is ClockworkMod on it I'm almost sure it was rooted, I don't know much about that stuff though so I can't say anything

Can you get to fastboot if you hold down vol down while you plug it in (from completely off)? This would help to get some more info on the phone status.

[Help] Need Help [Please]

I tried to flash a kernel s-on from recovery and now my screen won't turn on. I can hear notifications and even took a call but I can't see anything on the screen. I have a nand backup but I am having trouble accessing bootloader or recovery. I was using Dirty Underground rom I believe so I'm not sure if USB debugging was enabled. I currently only have access to a Mac computer. When I hold down the power button the notification light keeps blinking and the phone stays on, when I hold down power + volume down nothing happens, and when I hold down power + volume up it just reboots briefly showing the splash screen with red text and bringing me back to my black/dark gray screen. If anyone could help me get my phone back to working order I would be extremely grateful. Thanks for reading my post

Hold Volume UP + Power button for 10seconds, device will boot then, then immediately press Volume DOWN + Power Button to enter Fastoot.
Connect phone to PC, open command prompt and change directory to adb folder. Type in fastboot erase cache then fastboot reboot to see if it helps. If it doesn't, repeat process to enter bootloader then go into recovery and reflash.
What Kernel did you try to flash? ElementalX?
If you have adb access then just plug in your phone and type "adb reboot recovery". Then restore your backup or push a working kernel to your phone to flash.

Stuck at bootloader unlocked warning

I have TWRP and LineageOS with Magisk installed on my A50. Normally, when my phone boots, I get the following sequence:
1. Phone vibrates.
2. Samsung Logo appears for a very short time, with bootloader unlocked warning at the bottom.
3. A screen showing a bootloader unlock warning at the top and "PRESS POWER KEY TO CONTINUE" appears.
4. After a while or if you press the power key, an additional unofficial software warning appears in red letters at the bottom.
5. After some time the phone continues to boot normally.
My problem is that after the latest reboot ("reboot into recovery" via power menu), it gets stuck at step 4 and won't continue to boot, neither recovery nor system, even if I wait for tens of minutes.
What I've tried:
-reboot with volume +/-/poweroff
-reboot with volume volume -/poweroff
-all of the following with and without USB connected to PC:
-power/volume +/- at boot, both starting after logo screen as well as starting before logo screen, as well as releasing power at logo screen
-power/volume + at boot, both starting after logo screen as well as starting before logo screen, as well as releasing power at logo screen
-power/volume - at boot, both starting after logo screen as well as starting before logo screen, as well as releasing power at logo screen
-volume + at boot, both starting after logo screen as well as starting before logo screen
-volume - at boot, both starting after logo screen as well as starting before logo screen
-volume +/- at boot, both starting after logo screen as well as starting before logo screen
None of these helped. I just get the normal sequence 1-4 and then stuck every damn time. Can't get into recovery or download mode. Can't even power off, obviously.

With some help I managed to get into download mode, and from there reflash stock rom with ODIN.
Basically, you need to reboot the phone with power/vol+/vol- and as soon as the screen goes black, you release power but keep pressing the volume buttons, and also immediately connect the USB cable with the PC. Timing is key.

bro, you helped me alot, i'm stucked at this screen maybe 2 hours I didnt know what to do.
Btw, I've it just in 1 time =))
I got a way easier Method which has saved me several times
Is something i came up myself
Il be as precise as i can be so everyone understands!
1.Plug the phone to the wall (Your charger to the outlet)
2. Hold Power And Volume - (Volume down) until the phone shows the second charging animation (Which is the one after the first image of the phone charging [A circle with the lightning icon in the middle], this second screen shows a charging animation and the percentage of the battery) This indicates that the phone is fully Turned Off
3. Unplug your phone and the charger off the wall and bring it to your computer
4. Plug your cable to your Computer then back on your phone Hold Volume + and Volume - (Volume up and Volume Down) and plug your phone to your computer WHILE HOLDING BOTH VOLUME BUTTONS.
This little trick will put your phone in download mode so you can restore your device using Odin OR Flash Twrp with Odin and boot to right into Twrp (There is a way to do it without turning the phone on and having to go back to step 1, Follow this Tutorial to do it
(
)
I Hope this helps you all
And Happy Flashing!
