[Q] Is MaDaCo only stock rom? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is MaDaCo the only stock like rom? I don't care much for the bookshelf but I like the way it handles the books while reading them. Thanks in advance.

From what I have seen, it is the only stock.

Well that's what I thought. I keep looking and all others seem to be ICS. Thanks for your reply.

I also recommend twa's ROM. Hash's is nice, just too stock for my needs.

Reliable Rom?

I got my dad the A100 for his Birthday(54th) back in April. He uses it to play games like Angry Birds/fruit ninja, read books on the Kindle app, listen to music and surf the web occasionally. He enjoys it but he complains that it acts weird. It will boot him out of the kindle app, it will switch to another book that he isn't reading at the time, and some other buggy things. It is running the official ICS update. I was wondering if there is another ICS rom(or maybe JB) that is reliable. He is a casual user and doesn't need all kinds of crazy tweaks and customizations. Just needs his tablet to work right. I am familiar with rooting and flashing roms. I have a custom one on my phone, but not familiar with his tablet or the roms people have created for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Flex reaper is the most popular modded stock ROM and is stable.
I prefer CM10 but Id try modded stock just because ICS is what he is Familiar with.
Sent from G2x running BuROM v0.2 (root; mod stock 2.3.4) w/ faux's GB kernel 014b2-ext4.
Thanks. I will check it out!

If his main issue is with the Kindle app, I would start there, by reinstalling/updating. Even checking online for similar issues with the Iconia's and the app. Even something like a factory reset (backup files on the internal memory) may iron out some bugs, especially if it was an OTA to ICS.
But I agree if your set on flashing, Relix Flex is very stable and an ICS rom.
I don't like ROMs bloated with apps, cm10 was great for me, stable, fast and not bloated!

Well some idiots harrased the devs so many have stopped or taken their ROMs down. There are some good private builds, but your going to have do some digging. Im am not at liberty to discuss them, as asked by the devs who created them.

Idiots is incorrect, idiot is more correct... besides that now. Sdx may have something in the works but I don't think it necessary, I haven't found anything that doesn't work, and its quite fast. The private builds are an alternative method of activating the combined bar, don't ask me how, and I don't recommend them for everyone. Also, there's a super awesome memory usage bar. If you really want a copy just message the devs!
PS. Hahaha....

I would say idiots. The one you mean is one of a few people that made me decide to stop building. That aside, goo.im does have alternative cm10 builds if you want something different to run but stay on cm10.

Take a seat, relax and search. No one knows what apps you need, the games you like and what rom is best for you. Read threads, install, flash, reflash, experiment and have fun.

[Q] Is android 4.0.1 safe for everyday use?

Hello everyone! I just installed glazed ICS rom, and am LOVING it, but I was just wondering if the version of android it uses (4.0.1) is safe for use. It's pretty old, but if I keep all the apps up to date, is it safe? Thank you for your time

Most certainly but I think there are other even more customizable ROM that are more Recent. Yes its safe, although there are still a few bugs left, and because there is no development you won't have them fixed or updated, there most likely won't be any support.

My Dads nexus 7

First. I hate doing this. I know there is no one best ROM for everyone. But I need a quick answers for tmr morning. But its not a open question. I am looking for a couple things
My 60yo dad wants me to root and put a new ROM on his device
1. Must be stable
2 perform at least as well as stock ROM. No beta or buggy roms
3. Does not need crazy options to customize.
4. Aosp browser, he needs flash for his stoner pot websites.
Have to have all of those
* cm looks like a contender because its over air updatable.
Anyways. You guys are smart and my dad is a bit of a technophobe. So keep that in mind, i have first gen n7 so I know nothing about this device.
Thank you for your charity an opinions!
He won't care about kernels or root apps. We just need to future proof it now and get flash working.
Thank you thank you thank you, please don't flame me. I know that everyone will have a different opinion on best ROM. But this is not a general best ROM question. Need an old man ROM.

try out Minimus http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388599
and use the gapps from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
with this rom
very stable and no bells and whistles like roms with many addons
I would simply flash a Stock based ROM, custom kernel and remove some Bloatware, install an Adblocker I guess your Dad wouldn´t spend his time with some benchmarks ? I use a customized Stock based ROM myself and don´t miss any features since I use my tablet more productive :cyclops:

Considering his interests, I really recommend keeping him on a stock ROM. Any other ROM will have irritation points I don't think you will want to deal with.
