Hello. My first posting. I have looked to see if this has already been asked.... After using mute or vibrate function on my XDA 2s unit, and then switching to making a call or trying to receive a call I can't hear the dial tone, or the other person on the other end of the call. I can only make and receive calls once I soft reset the unit. This is becoming a regular occurence. Any ideas would be much apprecaited.
Craig.
same problem
I also have same problem. my XDA IIs often have a problem with the incoming/outgoing calls which is I can't hear the tone nor the person's on the other end of the call (but the person on the other end of the call could hear my voice). It often (not always) happens without the device had a recent setting change or running program so on one occassion it just handles the calls perfectly and suddenly the problem happens and I also have to soft-reset it to make it back to normal, and it is becoming regular.
This is unfortunately a well known bug that none radio upgrade could solve so far...
Look at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40417
The problem seems to occur only when Bluetooth is off... So the solution is to turn Bt On (and then off if you wish so) and it's ok without soft reset...
The best way to avoid it is to let Bt ON but to uncheck "Allow other devices to detect me" (forgive me if the english translation is not accurate but my PocketPC is in French) in the Bt parameters to avoid power consumption.
It worked for me so have a try
I have this weird UI functionality issue where the phone redials the last dialed number exactly when I want to hang up. This actually is not a bug in the system. Its just a design issue.
Here is what happens: I make a call using the dialer. The call connects fine but when I'm about to hang up and if at that instant or just before that, if the person on the other side hangs up, my end key becomes a dial key and a new call is initiated to the same person.
I want to be able to exit the dialer once I hang up a call that I've initiated. Is there a setting for it? Can I do some mod that can allow me to do this?
The same problem isn't noticed with an incoming call. Basically I'm doing something or the phone is idle. Once I'm done with an incoming call, the hang up / end button sends me back to the previous state. This is exactly what I want the outgoing call to do.
Any ideas? Is someone else facing the same issue with some other handset?
I'm on an HTC Desire (Bravo) SLCD with an InsertCoin Sense 2.1 ROM 1.1.4 release.
a temporary workaround is to install a sencondary dailer, so when you do press dial again, it prompts you to choose one, thus preventing the call to go through. Although this can be irritating sometimes.
I use GVoice for incoming/outgoing calls. When I receive a call, I swipe to answer, GVoice then announces the caller, and tells me to enter "1" to connect. When I activate the dialer touchpad, there is no response when I hit "1" and the screen blanks. I'm sure there is no touch tone sent.
What's wrong here. I've had to turn off GVoice's caller announce because I can't connect to incoming calls.
This is a VZW Nexus FWIW.
Are you running a custom ROM? perhaps something has been disabled. I run codenamedroid, and when I press 1 I here no tone yet Google voice still connects me to the call.

Pure "out-of-the-box" ROM. No root. Plain vanilla.
EDIT... this is interesting... I ran into a related problem. I answered a call I was expecting on the first ring, and GVoice told me to press "1" to ensure I wasn't an answering machine. Of course I couldn't do that since the keypad was disabled on received calls. Out of curiosity I disabled the pattern lock I was using, and now I can answer immediately. Just wondering if the pattern unlock is related to my keypad disable, since my incoming calls come to a locked phone. I haven't tried other lock mechanisms because frankly I'm tired of this problem... waiting on CM9
I have a N7102 with the stock ROM. When I am in a call, say, calling some customer service number, that will require to enter number on keypad of the dialer to navigator thru the menu, I cannot hear any sound feedback. Before making the call, when enter the phone numbers on the dialer, I can hear the water drop sound. I have checked all places for settings but cannot find any option that seems related to this. It is really wired to hear nothing when touching the keypad. Anyone can help? Is this a ROM problem?
I am trying to find a SIP client that works on CM10.1 over wifi. I have tried the following:
CSipSimple(latest trunk): whenever I try to make a call it unregisters an re-registers so nothing happens. When I try to receive a call it unregisters and re-registers.
SIPDroid: Try to make an outgoing call and for some reason it goes to the lockscreen while making the call. If the other end picks up I hear nothing and I have to force stop the app to end the call. With an incoming call the same thing happens. Locks the screen, I try to answer and it's dead air on both ends and the only way to end the call is to force stop.
Zoiper: It registers but there is no audio either way on incoming calls. On outgoing calls I can hear the other party but they can't hear me. I have the codecs set correctly.
Has anyone gotten SIP/VOIP to work on this phone with CM10.1?

I have gotten it to work and use it pretty extensively. I use csipsimple with pbxes.org but I don't use their gateway because I have had the problems you have described with them. Instead I use simontelephonics gateway with pbxes.org. My sets up is kinda complicated though because I have two lines and two gateways that I'm useing

What ROM are you using? I'm using the CM 10.1 nightly from a few days ago. I've tried PBXes.org and I get the same issue. When I try to make an outgoing call it unregisters and then registers again a few seconds later but the call is never made.

I do a lot of VOIP work and it almost sounds like you don't have the ports open to your phone box. If you're on asterisk TCP/UDP 5060-5080 and UDP 10001-20000 to get audio to work. Just a stab into the dark.
Just found one that works with CM10.1 (I'm on 06/02/2013nightly), MizuDroid. Works great so far and has tons of options!

As you might already know, you have to change some Sound settings first, especially if you want calls through the ear piece. I believe this is why the built-in SIP client in CM10.1 doesn't work, it's using the wrong audio inputs/outputs.
The Audio recorder should be set to use the mic, not default or auto guess (Voice call, Voice downlink, Voice uplink, Voice communication don't work either). The Audio player to use System sounds (only option that routes the call through the ear piece). Speakerphone player is set to Music playback, and Speakerphone output to Speaker Forced, although Speaker works also.
Groove IP works.
Csipsimple doesnt.

Your tips proven to be right. the only sip client can be configured like that is mizudroid. Finally I jump into 4.2.2 boat. Thanks.

I got csipsimple to work by changing the following option:
Settings (Expert) > Media > Audio Troubleshooting > Audio Implementation > change from OpenSL-ES to Java
Apparently CM10's OpenSL-ES doesn't work.
