Incoming or outgoing calls not possible unless soft reset. - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hello. My first posting. I have looked to see if this has already been asked.... After using mute or vibrate function on my XDA 2s unit, and then switching to making a call or trying to receive a call I can't hear the dial tone, or the other person on the other end of the call. I can only make and receive calls once I soft reset the unit. This is becoming a regular occurence. Any ideas would be much apprecaited.
Craig.

same problem
I also have same problem. my XDA IIs often have a problem with the incoming/outgoing calls which is I can't hear the tone nor the person's on the other end of the call (but the person on the other end of the call could hear my voice). It often (not always) happens without the device had a recent setting change or running program so on one occassion it just handles the calls perfectly and suddenly the problem happens and I also have to soft-reset it to make it back to normal, and it is becoming regular.

This is unfortunately a well known bug that none radio upgrade could solve so far...
Look at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40417
The problem seems to occur only when Bluetooth is off... So the solution is to turn Bt On (and then off if you wish so) and it's ok without soft reset...
The best way to avoid it is to let Bt ON but to uncheck "Allow other devices to detect me" (forgive me if the english translation is not accurate but my PocketPC is in French) in the Bt parameters to avoid power consumption.
It worked for me so have a try

Akono HBH-662 not answering calls properly

Does anyone else have this problem...?
I've just got an HBH-662 for the Universal and it pairs fine and can make calls, but answering calls it doesn't work properly.
The headset recognises incoming calls and rings okay, but when you press the button to answer the call, it doesn't put the sound through the headset, only through the phone.
Maybe it's a setting I'm missing, but it's a tad annoying!

I'm not sure I can help much, but I have no problems with my HBH-662 and my Jasjar.

I too have no problems with the HBH-662 and answering calls.
Will give it loads of testing later and see if i can get it to act the same as yours
I have been using HBH-662 with JJ for few weeks and in general I have no problem. I just wish that the Caller ID issue (the ability for the JJ to send contact name to the BT headset instead of number only) is resolved very soon.
I've not had any problem answering calls. The only problem I've experienced with this headset is an apparent clash with programs like GSPPocketMagic, MagicButton and HandyMenu. With either of the three apps running, my headset drops the connection after 20-30 seconds and I have to press the button on the headset to pick up the call again, which it drops 20-30 seconds later, etc. The moment I uninstall these apps it works fine again.
How strange. It seems to have sorted itself out!
I paired my old BT330 to compare it, it worked fine, so I removed the Akono and re-paired it and it seems to be working.
Thanks for the comments folks, it's useful even though you didn't get the same probs!
Now the next issue is how to reconcile the fact that SE say this thing provides "Caller ID", which I took to mean the NAME of the person, with the fact that it doesn't do anything of the sort... only the number.
And who really remembers the numbers of their friends these days?!

It does provide CallerID name... but only with certain phones WM phones being among those that don't provide name information. It's my understanding that the problem lies in the bluetooth stack on the phone and not with the headset. I did see a post a short while back that suggested the issue was being worked on and would be resolved in a ROM update, so I have hope... but I'm not holding my breath.

Hehehehehehehe.
Microsoft 'working on' the bluetooth stack...
hehehehehehehehe. Sorry. I just find that really funny. The idea that MS are actually working on anything to do with the BT stack on WM!
I don;t really understand why it takes so long to program a bit of BT to provide something like that (or, say A2DP!). I mean, how hard can it be?
Well I'm not a programmer so I won't moan.

Any more comments if Sony Erickson Akono BT headset HBH662 really clashes with magic button and handy menu?

Dash rejects calls

My Dash lately has been rejecting calls for no apparent reason. I get one ring and when I look to answer it there is a message on the phone saying the call was rejected. When I call the person back, they say the call went right to voice mail. I thought it had to do with the data connection being active and turned off my direct push email to eliminate that as an issue, but it still does it several times a day. Anyone having that issue with their Dash?
If you tap the volume touch-pad once, the incoming call ring is muted -- if you tap and hold on the touch pad during an incoming call, it's rejected -- I was doing this at first without realizing the features existed -- maybe you're doing the same. If not, no idea, as it hasn't been an issue for me since I realized why it was happening...
This is a fix for your problem:

Does anyone have this CAB file.... i just Hard reset my phone and now i cant find it anywere... i keep rejecting calls when i pull the phone out of my pocket... it gets frustrating having to call everyone back... :/
i have this same problem, where can i get the file from????
Try this link. Many good apps for Dash.

[WM6.5.1] Am I the only one who needs a keypad when answering calls?

I have an intercom in my building that is routed to my cell phone. I need to press number to open the door. In the latest builds of 6.5.1, when I receive a call, the option to show the keypad does not appear and no hardware buttons seems to trigger it either .
Is there a setting or registry key somewhere to force the keypad to appear also when receiving calls?
Also, when making call, is there any specific registry keys that control the screen turning on and off during call that I could control? I can understand the problem of having the screen active while the phone is on the hear, but I find it very annoying to have the screen turning off automatically while im answering questions from, i don't know if you remember the time, when the automated voice answering systems were only understanding key tones...
I find it ironic that my smart phone with gps and internet is not able to mimic the same functionality as any land-line phone can. Its like, yeah look at my new phone, its great for everything... except for the 'phone' experience.

I love XDA and its community and thanks to every hard working rom cookers. MS should pay you all big time for what your doing.

[Q] Speaker Issues

Hi,
I've been using a DESIRE HD for a long time , suddenly an issue has cropped up
1) My phone automatically uses the speaker when i receive or make a call !
Any Idea why is this happening?
i had the same issue for the last few weeks. i couldn't find a fix so ive just got into a habit of hitting speaker as soon as i make or recieve a call (to turn it OFF speakerphone) But...
the issue has now developed! one i make/recieve a call, and turn off speaker, the speaker continues to flick on and off throughout my call, mainly as it moves, depends on the tilt of the phone during the call. its like an overly sensitive exaggeration of the "flip for speaker" feature, as it happens when its vertical. thing is, ive turned this feature on and off many times to try and resolve it, but it still happens!
has anyone got any ideas that might help???
thanx

[Q] Strange problem with call audio... silent speaker

Hi guys, hope you can help with an odd problem...
Very, very occasionally (maybe 1 in 50 calls) I get an issue where I can't hear the other party, as if the earpiece was dead. If I drop the call and re-dial, 99% of the time everything is fine. (I think I had one time in 6 months where the 2nd call did the same.)
Now, I can't decide if this is a network issue (Vodafone) or a phone issue. I mostly use a Bluetooth headset due to the size of the Note but I doubt it's headset related as I have tried two different high end brands and it happens with either.
Things I have noticed:
Problem applies to incoming AND outgoing calls
I have checked I haven't accidently muted the call
My Bluetooth headsets all chime at the start of a call but there is no call audio
The other party can hear me but I can't hear them
System sounds are all fine, only call audio is affected
Switching between headset, phone and speaker phone make no difference
Applies to all incoming call audio, including ringing tones and busy tones
I reboot my phone sometimes but as the issue is rare I couldn't say if it makes a difference. Also this is a standard Note II (not a branded Vodafone one) with all the latest patches downloaded. Looking through my app downloads I can't see any obvious ones that might affect the phone. Apart from the stock Samsung apps I most connect to CCTV systems. I have CSipSimple but I haven't used it in ages.
Any suggestions on how to investigate this further?
Regards,
Andy
Seriously... no ideas?
So, no one's ever had this problem and no one has any ideas?!
:crying:
