You'll have to Root and Install a Stock Unbranded ROM.
OR
Root and remove the 02 Splash screen using Root explorer.
Either way, you need to Root.
Thank you for your reply.
Can you tell me which method is easier and where do i get step by step instructions?
Thanks

You can do titanium backup (market) but I am not sure if you can backup system apps+data without root. But most of things can be saved.
Nothing on internal memory - virtual server - will be lost so photos and music is safe..
Don't forget about nandroid backup

Hello TommUK.
I have full root and am using ES File Explorer fully set up to mount read/write Root.
Could you please tell me the location of the splash screen on the One X and the file name ?
the usual splash1.img as per all my other HTC's doesnt seem present.
Any help would be unreal, I have made custom up and down animations and would like a matching splash before I post them for all to see !
Thnx.

Cant remember where it goes but i remember having to rename the zip file to bootanimation.zip. If you take a look in themes & apps section there are plenty of threads explaining properly

He's talking about the splash screen, not the boot animation. On previous HTC phones you needed s-off to be able to write to splash using fastboot; I imagine it's the same on this phone, which means currently we can't change it (until someone manages to obtain s-off). I certainly haven't seen a method mentioned anywhere.
Sorry, but there is NO possibility to remove a splash-screen on One X. You can remove/exchange boot-animation, but the absolute first picture shown during boot is hidden in a partition that is not accessible without s-off. And even with s-off would be a rather complicated adventure, becasue all the tools existing for older HTC-Phones do not work with the resolution of One X.

I replied to your question in modaco but I mentioned again here, do you do the bootloader unlock procedure first before you run the superboot ?
I'll make a simple tutorial later on how to unlock and root the htc one v.

hii, sorry i havent checked modaco yet. i just got the phone like 2 days, so i havent done to the bootloader. it's still s-off tho. so what am i supposed to do before flashing the boot.img ?

If the phone is S-OFF then you don't need to unlock the bootloader. Just root it.

Right... if it is already s-off, just download the SuperSU from Play store and you are done.

S-OFF doesn't mean that the phone is rooted. He needs to do this first:
ckpv5 said:
Rooting with Superboot
1. Download r1-primo-superboot.zip to your computer and extract in any directory.
2. Download the modded boot.superboot.img
3. Replace the boot.superboot.img in the folder that you extracted just now (r1-primo-superboot).
4. Power off your phone by holding the power button down for 10 seconds
5. Power your phone on by holding power and volume down (going to Fastboot mode)
6. Highlight Fastboot With Volume+or- then press Power
7. Connect your phone to PC
8. Double click ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’
Once it complete, the phone will reboot on its own. In app drawer you will see a SuperSU icon, click on it and update SU binary then you are done with rooting your Htc One V.
You can try any app with root access to confirm it is working.

He needs to do that only to have root and full ADB root access, if he already s-off and needs only root, just download the SuperSU from Play Store but no ADB access.
But I guess his One V is S-On, that is why he failed to flash the boot.img the first time he tried.
I just s off it and root it. But it seems it doesnt have root access yet. But i already have SU app.
Everytime i go to root uninstaller app, it asks me for adb access which i dont know how.
And also, when o try to update SU binary, it always fails. Everything is ok except the busybox checking and Gaining root access

Hi. I asked my friend that is new to android:
to root his android phone n flash his phone so he can become somewhat of a modder:
however he has just told me that he has got into a bootloop after flashing the cyan theme on a stock HTC ONE X bootloader unlocked.(international)
He had not made a backup & wants the least complicated method
Do you have a simple solution so he can boot his phone into his phone?
Edit: I have looked on google but cannot find the right solution for his situation.

Hold the power button down til it turns black and the lights blink then hold volume down to boot into bootloader.
Then select recovery and reflash his Rom. Or push the stock files that got edited using adb.

If recovery doesn't boot tell him to go into bootloader -> fastboot and then use 'fastboot erase cache'.

Yes he can get into recovery, i kinda feel responsible cause i told him to flash something.
Anyways I've searched on google n i can't find any clear instructions on erasing fasboot cache
Why did you tell him to flash something he knew nothing about? Surely you advised him to read up on everything first, download the right RUU as backup, etc?

Just grab a Rom and flash it in recovery that will fix it. Don't make it complicated. No need for anything else he only changed a few files like systemui and framework.res, once they get replaced again with the new Rom it will boot as normal.

First and foremost, please know that I have searched and searched again for hours and really have exhausted what in my opinion is my skill level for the rooting process. Previously hacked a PSP but that seemed easier than this.
I have tried the one click method and I have tried the HTCDev method. Both to no avail. I've run the .bat, I've tried the cmd cd Download cd OneXRoot... I couldn't get the One click .exe to run on my Windows XP even after installing .net framework. Can anyone help? I will divulge phone software versions, firmware etc if anyone decides to help me... And please only comment if you can specifically help... No trolls, no haters, no unconstructive comments.
Sorry for the noobism...
Thank you.

hi , try using this it should be what you need if you are going to flash custom rom's go to htc dev to unlock bootloader thats the first and foremost thing you need to do . Htcdev is just to unlock your bootloader and nothing else
http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
if i helped you say thanks =)
What issue are you currently having with 'HTCDev'? Did you successfully unlock the bootloader?
Try checking this post out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832891
Also, check this out, more specifically:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439
Hope that helps
I promise you all those methods do not work. I tried to run the root.bat access denied. I tried the one where you open up cmd and type cd Download, access denied... Finally I tried One Click but the .exe wouldn't open due to wrong .net framework, which I then downloaded but I was told by XP was not able to install 4.0.3...
Obviously I am going to need a work around on this but like I say One Click is no good for me... I'm going to reply again with my phone's info... I'm guessing the cmd way will be best to eventually get to work for me...

---------- Post added at 08:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:17 PM ----------
have a careful read through this, this is the most complete guide for rooting manually, if you don't want to backup to start with you can go straight for unlocking your bootloader (after that to installing the recovery, then to installing the rom )

Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Hi mate, firstly u need to install the SDK etc,
Then you unlock your bootloader
Then you can install the custom recovery
Then you need to install the super user app (or SU etc) This will give your rom Root privileges (i.e you can install mods etc) This is not installing a custom rom
If you want to install a custom rom you can skip the step above as all custom roms have these root privileges.
Download your rom and stick it on your SD card
Make a backup through the custom recovery (you can revert back to stock if things go tits up)
Boot into fastboot and flash the boot.img via fastboot commands (or use a fastboot kit if one is supplied with the rom)
Go into recovery, flash your rom and reboot
The above is just summarizing whats on the guide I gave you so you should know what order you need to do things and where to look on the guide

Okay thanks. Some last question. I have a HTC one x (international) version. That will work for me?
And will I lost all that I have on my phone?
And the last, do this will install another rom or kernels? Cause I want to stay on stock..
Thanks for a quick reply friends.

You will lose all the data on your phone, so a backup is recommended. If you follow the guide only through the first post like was said, you will remain on stock kernel and rom and only have root.
Okay thanks a lot. But I'm a little bit confuse, with the two link. Is it the same?
And on the HTC one x forum, I've see a "root info" can I follow this?

The one in "root info" is a one click method, which is quite simple.
I, however, recommend you to use the other guide (linked by requiem), because by using it you will learn something about adb/fastboot and recovey usage.
If you get in trouble in the future, then you will have the knowledge to recover from it.

Take the first backup of your sd card by using usb cable. Just copy all the stuff from sd to pc. Photos, music, etc. will be saved.
Take second backup, nandroid backup, when you have flashed clockworkmod, by tapping the backup/restore in recovery menu. This will backup your ROM. Nandroid backup will not backup your sdcard.

YOU MUST BE SOFF TO USE THIS MOD, IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THAT IS YOU DONT HAVE IT. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKS DUE TO YOUR NEGLIGENCE. Now lets continue.
You can find the hboot here to download: Download
Once you download this zip, extract all of its contents. You will need to verify the md5 of the mmcblk0p18 so be sure to pull the .md5 as well. Once you have the files, open the md5 in a text editor of choice. Then, put the mmcblk0p18 into your adb folder. If its in your path, I will make the assumption you can modify this to your needs. You will now need to use the code below. Be sure you are booted into android!
Code:
adb push mmcblk0p18 /sdcard/mmcblk0p18
adb shell
su
md5sum /sdcard/mmcblk0p18
#now check the output of this command with the md5 in the file you opened in notepad. If it DOES [U]NOT[/U] MATCH, [U][B]DO NOT[/B][/U] proceed
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p18 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
diff /sdcard/mmcblk0p18 /dev/block/mmcblk0p18
# IF THESE DIFFER DO NOT REBOOT, try the command again. If you are not S-OFF then you will see that the files WILL differ.
Now, you can reboot and the red warning text will be gone! Enjoy!
After you do this, it will look like this (Hboot will show 1.18.9999):
In addition, phone will no longer be recognized in fastboot mode on USB 3.0 ports
