Here's the link, just a tip for next time... use the search function and the root info section
Unlock bootloader, install a recovery and flash supersu.zip. That's it!
If you need more specific instructions, check the guide you can find at one of the tabs of the one x forum index.

The other thread posted above is also good. In fact they are practically the same thing for your purposes. See, the info was there all along in more than one place.
Okay thanks. Some last question. I have a HTC one x (international) version. That will work for me?
And will I lost all that I have on my phone?
And the last, do this will install another rom or kernels? Cause I want to stay on stock..
Thanks for a quick reply friends.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
You will lose all the data on your phone, so a backup is recommended. If you follow the guide only through the first post like was said, you will remain on stock kernel and rom and only have root.
Okay thanks a lot. But I'm a little bit confuse, with the two link. Is it the same?
And on the HTC one x forum, I've see a "root info" can I follow this?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The one in "root info" is a one click method, which is quite simple.
I, however, recommend you to use the other guide (linked by requiem), because by using it you will learn something about adb/fastboot and recovey usage.
If you get in trouble in the future, then you will have the knowledge to recover from it.

Take the first backup of your sd card by using usb cable. Just copy all the stuff from sd to pc. Photos, music, etc. will be saved.
Take second backup, nandroid backup, when you have flashed clockworkmod, by tapping the backup/restore in recovery menu. This will backup your ROM. Nandroid backup will not backup your sdcard.

Use hasoon2000's one in all kit for unlocking bootloader and installing a recovery.
Use jbfw toolkit for hboot updating if you need to.
Use recovery for taking nandroid backups.

You'll have to Root and Install a Stock Unbranded ROM.
OR
Root and remove the 02 Splash screen using Root explorer.
Either way, you need to Root.
Thank you for your reply.
Can you tell me which method is easier and where do i get step by step instructions?
Thanks

You can do titanium backup (market) but I am not sure if you can backup system apps+data without root. But most of things can be saved.
Nothing on internal memory - virtual server - will be lost so photos and music is safe..
Don't forget about nandroid backup

Hello TommUK.
I have full root and am using ES File Explorer fully set up to mount read/write Root.
Could you please tell me the location of the splash screen on the One X and the file name ?
the usual splash1.img as per all my other HTC's doesnt seem present.
Any help would be unreal, I have made custom up and down animations and would like a matching splash before I post them for all to see !
Thnx.

Cant remember where it goes but i remember having to rename the zip file to bootanimation.zip. If you take a look in themes & apps section there are plenty of threads explaining properly

He's talking about the splash screen, not the boot animation. On previous HTC phones you needed s-off to be able to write to splash using fastboot; I imagine it's the same on this phone, which means currently we can't change it (until someone manages to obtain s-off). I certainly haven't seen a method mentioned anywhere.
Sorry, but there is NO possibility to remove a splash-screen on One X. You can remove/exchange boot-animation, but the absolute first picture shown during boot is hidden in a partition that is not accessible without s-off. And even with s-off would be a rather complicated adventure, becasue all the tools existing for older HTC-Phones do not work with the resolution of One X.
I was getting to root my OneX and I just water some help on things to do before.
Original RUU, I tried looking that original ROM thread's and couldn't find 1.29.720.11. Nor did I find the stock recovery for it. Where can I find these? I need them to go back to stock, right?
Also, once I go to HTCDev, and unlock. Can I flash CWM directly form fastboot or do I need to something else?
Then do a nandroid backup.
And flash.
Am I missing something?
You are perfect. Don't forget to take nandroid backup.

Can I extract the recovery and RUU from my phone?
Take a look here http://hoxroms.serveftp.com/ then you will find what you need
Or if you see here http://www.filefactory.com/f/7cc7b2fbdd03c031/ you may also find some...
nope not available there, in the same position as OP, dont know what to do

Or there a way anyone can upload their stock rom which i can use?
Please help anyone...i dunno what to do!!!
Hey there. Just wanted to introduce myself(Jason). I'm gonna be getting the One V next week and am considering rooting it...just reading up and trying to understand everything right now. Won't actually do it till I'm comfortable that I know what I'm doing and why. Anyway, if you have any tips..always cool! take it easy!
Don't ever use combo buttons Power + Volume Up!
Well, the best thing to do at the beginning is to make some back up of your current stock ROM, before doing something like unlock your bootloader and/or rooting your phone...:good:
Just rooted today for my first time, it isn't as hard as you would think just follow the instructions and make sure u have a good amount of free time. Also like he said never boot holding the volume up, because that will brick you. And make a backup of your stock rom.
Welcome to the One V section
Hope you'll enjoy your stay here
Welcome bro..don't do anything n a hurry
Read instructions clearly

I was confused at this point too, there are basically two steps to rooting:
1) Unlocking Device Bootloader
1b) Booting ClockWorkMod to make a nandroid (aka backup image I think) of your current setup.
2) Rooting

you CAN'T make a backup of your stock ROM without a custom recovery. and this implies also unlocking the bootloader in order to install a custom recovery

First unlock your bootloader then install clockwork mod recovery then for rooting simply flash supersu.zip which you can grab from cm9’s development thread....

first of all u need to have s-off and root privileges on your phone. u can find multiple guide here on the forum choose one. then u instal rom manager from app store and after install u open the rom manager and choose option flash recovery and the only option should be G2. Choose it and after few seconds it's done.
or u can use 4ext touch recovery. you shold easily find guide here to do that just use search option
sry i can't get way to root my phone , any one can tell me how root step by step and easily
for future reference google works well for searching as does the xda search button
Read up!
oky thank ,,, but any one have easy way to do root tell me please
Best way? If u have rooted phone download ROM Manager and after you accsess it click install cwm...easy
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Best and easy are two different things, and truthfully you should root your phone any other way. Useing rom manager is fine and dandy but you don't learn how to do anything yourself then, which means more often then not when you run into issues later on, which you almost certainly will, you won't know what to do.
Not trying to be a ****, but the directions are pretty straight forward and amount to copy and paste with only a tad of computer knowledge.
If you want "easy" just htc dev unlock your bootloader... but in the long run it will be harder for you

Are you serious? I linked you the step by step process, if its too complicated I also said to use the htc dev unlocked bootloader method (which I'm sure you can work google to find out how)
I'm sorry this seems to complicated for you but there is no safe one click method. again, not being a **** here but if you can't follow the step by step process laid out in the wiki then you shouldn't root your phone, it will be a bad idea... but if you must still and refuse to root the proper way then unlock the bootloader with htcs method, but chance are you will run into more issues.
I'm guessing you will be happier just not alowing yourself root and stick with stock though

if your to lazy to use the search button, rooting is not for you
find strawmetal pdf and follow instructions, read carefully or your phone get bricked
Hello,
I currently have HTC One X and will buy One X Plus in a few days.
I want to backup all my data(music,pics...) but as well apps and settings so when I get the One X Plus it will have all data
my One X had. It will be like a same phone.
I know I can do this with Titanium Backup PRO but I don't have a rooted phone and don't want to root it.
Is there another App/Method to do this full Backup?
I should mention that my current One X is 4.0.4 while the One X Plus will be 4.1.1
Thanks for help!
Then, also hox had android 4.1.1, why your not?
However, for music, pic, etc that you have in SD card, you can make a copy/paste to computer and after to HOX+.
For the apps, you can use Carbon
It doesn't require Root

Hi Guich,
I have an Almost 1 year old HTC One X withn official OTA jellybean 4.1.1 update (I liev in the Nederlands).
I've decided to root my phone but before I wanna make a back up ofcourse! I've just finished to try it for the 3rd time today: I press power button + volume rocker down. Get the fastboot menu; go down to ''recovery'' with the volume rocker. Press power button and ....I GET A TRIANGLE WITH A EXCLAMATION POINT ON APHONE ICON. My phone stays like this for ± 2 min and restarts normally. What I'm doing wrong here? My phone is now not fully charged. Is this the problem?
Thanx!
