Choppy sound during calls - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hi there.
My girlfriend has a Galaxy W which is acting a little strange.
The calls are, not always, choppy. I thought it could be her carrier, but I used my sim, from another carrier, and it acts the same.
It's not always, but almost every time.
Before sending it the an authorized repair shop I'd like to try some things.
I don't have the phone here right now but I'll get it in some hours. What do you guys suggest?
Try to reset the phone (she already upgraded to the latest firmware)?
Try to change radio?
I believe she doesn't want a rooted and customized phone, because she likes it the way it is. But I need to know also how to backup it all up.
What do I use? KIES? And will KIES restore everything back after I reset the phone to fectory default?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanx.

Debranded Desire won't connect to mobile operator

I bought a HTC Desire branded to Orange UK trough eBay when i was working there last month. The First thing i did was to debrand it using the 1.15.405.2 that i found on MoDaCa, and i bought a unlock key on eBay. This solution worked pretty well until the OTA update showed up, the i got the known WiFi issue. That was no biggie either, just installed the RUU of the 1.21.405.2 and the new Radio, and everything seemed to be perfect again
BUT THEN, two days ago, my phone suddenly lost it's connection to the my mobile operator . I tried to swap my sim card with another sim card, and the result was that my HTC Desire wouldn't get connection while my sim card worked well in the other phone. I also browsed trough my menus to try to find something that might be wrong, but no luck. If i tried to connect to my mobile operator manually, i got a message saying something like "SIM-card doesn't allow connection to this network".
Yesterday morning, i called HTC to try to find out if this might be a hw or sw malfunction, and he advertised me to do a factory settings restore and felt pretty confident that it only was the sw letting me down. I did as he suggested and boom, it worked...for about 5-6 hours, then it came back. As if that wasn't annoying enough, a factory settings restore didn't do the trick this time, and neither did a reflash with the goldcard. I even formated my mSD to be sure there wasn't any kind of virus on it.
So please, if anyone in here got a tip regarding sw, let me know. I'm helpless without my dear phone...
Hmmm this is my biggest concern... I'm just about to buy an ebay Orange Desire and flash it with a stock ROM and unlock it.... kinda worrying as I'm no Linux man really...
im not sure if its the same thing but i have lost conection to t mobile on my desire twice now. first time was fixed by re entering the apn. this time no change. the differance is mine is un branded. i also cant do mms any more.
Unbranded and debranded, same ****, isn't it? Niter means branded...
Seems like i'm not the only one with this problem: http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/topic/5...nt-re-connect/page__view__findpost__p__405655
Lots of Vodafone users in that forum has similar issues, but most of them seems to have a workaround by turn off the back on, or go by airplane mode to get signal back, tat doesn't work for me. I tried to flash my phone once more, but still no luck.
I'm considering a root operation and install android 2.2 aka froyo, but i'm not even sure if that is possible since i got the bootloader version 0.80...
ive just got mine working again by resting the apns to default.
mms still not working though. i hope its not a voda problem i just paid off t mobile a years contract to join voda due to terrible reception and crap tech support.
what is that, and how do you do it? I would guess that a reset to factory default and/or a complete reflash would take care of such, whatever it is...
Yep I was about to ask the same thing! what is it and how do you turn it on/off?
go to settings - wirless & networks - mobile networks - access point names - then press the menu key and hit reset to default.
hope this helps you
That did the same thing as a "reset to factory defaults", but still doesn't work
I've an unbranded unlocked desire on 3 UK with original firmware and mine does drop out occasionally but always comes back perhaps its a desire quirk !

Suppose so, but unlike you and many others, mine doesn't come back I was hoping for a fix for this issue, but i'm afraid were talking about hw malfunction, let's hope i'm wrong...
Little update, just followed this guide, but that didn't change anything. As far as i know, i now got some kind of rooted version of HBOOT 0.75 and fw.ver. 1.15.405.4, dunno about radio version. But it also says that i'm not able to install a custom rom with this rooted version, but i might be able to completely root it now and then install a custom rom?
Yet another update, i did install the 2.2 Froyo following this guide, and unlike the HTC roms, this one indicates that i do have full/optimal connection to my mobile operator, but it still won't let me call, just replies with 'Mobile network not available'.
I kinda courages me to scream out loud ****!!! Yes, i mean it...
Feedback would be nice
Just a thought, may i be that the guy i bought the phone from could have reported it as stolen with the intention of getting an insurance fee? And as a result of that, my phone have been closed by the operator? Don't even know if they mind doing such across the border. So the question would be: Is there any way to find out if my phone has been remotely closed?
Call your carrier.... they will be able to tell you if the phone is connecting to the nextwork correctly... ask them if not... why not?
I second that suggestion, try calling your carrier. Also I have found that switching the internet on directly through settings rather than using the widgets solved my connection problem.

Yep, i got contact with the seller from eBay, and he is very helpful, so he will do what he can while i will call my carrier first thing in the morning. Seems like there might be a glitch here, but i'll keep you updated on my progress.
argh, it seems like i wont get anywhere with my phone. I'm considering trying to change the IMEI, i know it's illegal, but i paid £360 for this device, and atm it's useless to me. If i only knew how tho change the imei, not exactly easy information to obtain, not even with google...

So have you found out why your having problems?
ah, sorry, thought i already told u guys, lol. Well, for some reason the phone is IMEI locked. The seller says that he did call to lock a sim card when he lost his iphone, and it might be related since it's the sim that was suppose to be in my phone. however, i think he either claimed the phone stolen to commit insurance fraud, or it's simply stolen. Another thing i came across was that the operator might blacklist the phone if it's unlocked without their blessing, don't really know if they can do that.
Either way, the only way for me to make this phone work is to convince the police that it's not stolen (i need a recite for that which he won't provide me), or to change the imei code with my "awesome" hacking skills...

Unique problem with Captivate Glide

Hi. I am in India and got an unlocked Glide from US via Ebay. The phone was in the box with all accessories and is the 2.3.6 AT&T stock rom. No mods yet. Setup, synced everything, and it worked fine.
When I call one specific number the phone force closes the dialer, loses network and it shows a null imei. If I switch off, remove battery & sim and reinsert and start, it works fine... till I call that number again and the same thing happens. Incoming call from that number give generally disconnect only the network and the phone is back online after a couple of mins without restarting. It even disconnects the social hub and FB, etc. if I go to the contact and explore that area.
Just to be sure, I did a factory reset and tried again. Nothing else has given me any problems so far (not tried the GPS) and I was using the phone for 2-3 days. No problem with any other numbers. Tried calling with and without the country code with the same problem. SMS to the number works.
Never heard of anything like this..
Not flashed any Samsung device yet.. Is flashing a new rom the only solution?
Appreciate some advise
Thanks
Maybe you're trying to call chuck norris, that could be the problem, because, remember, you don't find chuck norris, he finds you.

Its neither Chuck nor Rajnikant ... my younger bro actually..
Anyways, will flash some custom rom and try..
If I were to wager a guess I'd say the SIM is trying to do something special with that number, and the phone doesn't like it. You could ask your carrier, or maybe try a replacement SIM.
Maybe try another sim card of another carrier and dial the same number?
Can that be something like carrier not liking the generic imei?

Nothing like that. Think it was a problem with the ROM. Flashed Osimood and problem gone. Used same sim with other phones without any problems..

Weird maybe you had some Virus that when you flashed the new Rom it cleaned your phone and made it Virus free.
Solution
Just don't sync Linkedin, Facebook or any SNS applications that download into phone book and try to dial the number and see if it will work or not , I think thats deserve a Thank you
I had an antivirus (Avast) on the phone. New rom is synced with FB, linkedin, skype, viber and a couple of other services.. no problem at all... Seems like some one-off problem... One big difference is that new rom has not been connected to Kies.. have a suspicion that Kies had something to do the problem with the stock rom.

Can't send SMS and Calls after 4.3 update

I saw a topic almost the same as mine but I don't really understand what they're all saying as I am an Android Noob.. I think my case is different because I upgraded my phone without using the leaked one..
I just upgraded my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to 4.3 last Tuesday, 12/24/13 and today, I noticed that I can't send and receive SMS and Calls on my phone. I don't know if the problem is my phone or my sim card. I tried restarting the phone and reinserting the sim. I almost tried everything. I can't try a new sim because I have no extra micro sim in my house.
When I send a text, it says "currently unable to send your message. it will be sent when the service becomes available" then it goes on a message loop. When I try to call someone, it says "Not registered on network". The signal bar is full though.
Is there a way to solve this issue without having to root my phone? I still have it on warranty and I can't really follow complicated instructions since I'm new to Android.
if there is really no way of solving this issue, then i'll go to the SSC. however, i really want to fix this alone cause' i'm pretty sure that they'll wipe off everything from my phone. if wiping every off of my phone will solve the issue, than i guess i'll just have to give it to SSC.
Thank you.

Signal Loss - 1 bar - No Sevice I747m - Cant receive calls

Hi,
I have a fido I747m I baught off someone and tried before buying it to see if my rogers and Pc mobile sim works. Did placed call and was ok. After placing a few calls I was having trouble getting them to go through. Only 10-30% of calls go through. I noticed the signal strength is one bar and increase to full when placing the call and if it does quickly the call will go through if there is a delay the call wont go through. Now to receive calls I cant unlesss by chance I have more than one bar when someone is trying to call me so less than 1% of calls I receive. I've wiped and reflashed the fido rom bell rom and the new pc mobile rom the result is the same. Turned on/off airplane mode to get to work for less than a minute. Ive rooted the phone and modified to downgrade to 4.1.2 still no luck. Some people are telling it may have been unlocked badly. What can I do. I want to try to flash EFS but Im seeing I need to jtag which I dont have. Please let me know what I can do or if there is nothing that can be done.
EMEI OK

Your NV file might be damaged/corrupted, which seems to be quite frequent with unlocking. You could copy one from another phone with nv-reader-write.
Before going that route though, you can try flashing another modem. I believe the latest one for Canadian users is ND3.
That's what I actually did and worked. I didn't even modify the nv file and change the imei on the file. That easy it kept its own imei.
I tried flashing radio before and didn't work.
Is it normal I didnt have to change the imei number of the nv file.
Never try to "change" the imei. Unless meeting very specific criteria that is illegal.
Didn't you just say its working now though? Or did I misunderstand? Imo, messing with NV data should always be a last resort. If something goes wrong you can cause irreparable damage to the device. Plus ime, many people find they don't even need to go this route and just flashing the stock firmware often solves the problem.

Please I Need HELP!! :( Cant Hear Phone Calls

Hi guys i recently received my Galaxy S6 from sprint that my brother bought on may this year and loved it, but then fell in love with the Note 5 and saved this one on the box. Like i said the phone is exactly the same way it was when he bought it, so damn new! so i was very happy when the phone arrived and i quickly called my brother so that he could have it connected to the sprint network. He did and the phone worked awesome, we even changed the old number he had on that line he connected to my phone and got to call a friend of mine so everything worked, but! The next day i wake up to make a call and as i'm waiting for the 00:00 minutes to start rolling it took about 5 to 9 seconds to appear on screen and when it does, i CANT HEAR THE RING OR THE PERSON WHEN I MAKE A CALL! and so cant the person i'm calling, they get the call, but when they answer it they cant hear me. I tried everything sprint has told me from resetting the phone in many ways and nothing seems to work. Also everything on the phone works, trust me i've tried every test, i can hear on the lower speaker and on the top one also (my brother left a voice message and i could hear it loud and clear) so i know its not the speakers or anything hardware. I've tried everywhere and no one seems to have the answer to my problem can anyone pleaseeeeee help me , this phone is new and nothing is broken in it. I made a test to the microphone and i could record and talk to anyone on messenger, whatsapp, etc... so i know the mic works. Everything works, the only problem is that when YOU WANT TO MAKE A PHONE CALL OR RECEIVE ONE, YOU CANT LISTEN ANYTHING ON THE TOP SPEAKER, neither can the other person hear you. Please anyone :/
Thanks in advance!
I know this is way out there, but make sure you turn Bluetooth off. It may be connecting to a Bluetooth device and expecting you to use that.

Factory reset isn't going to do it. You need to Odin the latest tar file to clean up whatever you have done to your phone. That will reset you to stock where Factory reset only deletes user data.
Here is the tar file:
File name: G920PVPU3BOJ7_G920PSPT3BOJ7_SPR.zip
Link: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087002159
md5: fe1d4a7b3ad20f3e79efc7526e95143d
Pm if you need a replacement screen
Hello @cruise350 and thank you for the post. I have some questions before I start on your advice, what exactly do you mean by "odin" the latest tar file? Also, what do you mean by reset me to stock? Stock as in when I bought the phone for the first time or another version of android?

Here is a video of how to reset your phone using Odin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv0BnfpNxEs
The TAR file linked above will reset your phone to the latest Samsung Sprint version, as if you had just bought it from a store. (Including all the latest security patches.)
It is not a customized ROM, it will be "stock." You will not have root, which is something added afterwards. You can find a thread here for how to add that, if you need it.
Same Issue With BRAND NEW PHONE
I am running into the same issue with my fiancee's mom. She bought an S6 from Best Buy last Wednesday and had this problem the next day. We took the phone back to Best Buy, only to have the same problem all over again.
Now that she is on her second phone, she took it into a Sprint store and called Sprint. The Sprint technical people who took her call gave her a code to punch in the dialer, but it has not helped.
