For some reason I cannot seem to get VVM to work properly. I can receive voicemails but they don't show up in VVM. I've tried some of the options found here but I can't seem to resolve this. I'm missing something here but I'm not really sure what to do from this point. Could anyone give me some direction?
What Rom are you using? Make a backup of the vvm app from a stock sense Rom, flash Rom of choice, and restore app+data from titanium backup. That should work. Worked for me every time

I'm using OD Bliss 3.5 rom. VVM is listed as included and no one else seems to be having issues. Is there a particular 1.0 rom you used to get the working version?
I just flashed the legacy classic rom. I'm still getting the issue that instead of showing up in vvm i just get a text message saying I have a voicemail. Maybe i'm misunderstanding vvm in general.
I backed it up from the original stock Rom. I know swagged out vvm works. I always had problems with 3.5 Rom vvm as well. It never worked without restoring

I'm an idiot, I hadn't disabled google voice so it was overriding vvm, I'm going to back it up and see if it works with 3.5.

Oh ya, that google voice will highjack your phone. It screwed my phone up really bad before. Couldn't make or receive calls.

had the same reaction..use youmail its free and it works
There's a thread over in the evo general section that explains how to get sprint vvm working on cm7.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
You need to:
1. Flash a sense rom, verify your voicemail is working, backup the app and data, flash back to CM7, restore app and data
or
2. Use google voice, or another 3rd party app.
I am running salvage mod 1.1 after switching from a sense rom. I set up Google voice and thought everything was going fine. Well I received a couple voicemails and they keep trying to go to my sprint voicemail. I tried to delete Google voice and reinstall and it still wouldn't work. Any suggestions?

Not trying to be an ass but try posting this question in this thread!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881557
The reason I'm saying this is because you have a better chance of someone answering your question then if you post it here where you have people with all sorts of different roms installed........BECAUSE it might be a problem with your ROM not Google Voice......hope you fix your problem soon!
When you reset it, did you set your voice mail carrier to google voice, and call that number it tells you to?

Glad I could be of help.
Has anybody had issues connecting their Google Voice to their voicemail? I just tested it, but when I got to the "configure" screen where it has you select Google Voice or Voicemail in the options, nothing else happened, and when I tested it, my voicemail went to my TMo inbox instead of Google Voice.
I'm running frostyjb R3, default modem.
Same thing happened to me, so I un installer GV and reinstalled it with no problems.

If you uninstall Voice, and then re-installed it and no luck, try calling up T-mobile and have them switch your voice mail provider to Google Voice. I had to do it on my wife's phone and that fixed it.

What ROM are you using? I'm on a stock-ish jellybean leak, not stock or CM-anything.
I know calling T-Mobile would probably solve it, but their phone tree is terrible, and I'd like to avoid it if possible (even though it's probably inevitable)
So there are numerous posts and questions on how to get sprint visual voicemail working with miui or aosp roms.
For the life of me I can't get it to work no matter what method I use.
Can someone please help who has successfully got it working on there rom please reply with the exact steps you used.
Would really like to figure out the proper method on this.

Once you have it installed, click the mic icon up top on the right, record whatever(background noise is fine) then click send and send it to [email protected] this will provision the voicemail so that it works. You will receive annoying texts from 9016 everytime you get a new voicemail but using the spam block settings in you messaging app will hide/block them
I like to break stuff!
I have tried that numerous times. All I get is a bunch of 9016 messages but no voicemail ever comes through.

That's weird. Have you tried making a backup in titanium backup of it working on a tw rom and then restoring the app and data on miui?

Unfortunately it doesn't work properly on every rom, because if 9016 texts get blocked to the phone completely, then vvm never receives the message, vvm has to receive these messages in order to function. The rom I'm running has a blacklist option that allows me to block 9016 from messaging app only, keeping 9016 coming through to phone, which vvm then picks up perfectly. Their are apps to do this, but some block it totally, which is not what you want.

Every time I've used custom ROMs since my original Evo 4G, I've had issues with voice mail. It's not just visual voice mail, it's the Sprint voice mail call in and notification. The long press 1 gives me a carrier automatic message for not available and my notifications are all text messages with a hyper link and phone number to call that don't work. I have to manually call my number to access voice mail and check for messages.
I've tried the Google Voice option and did not like it. I love switching ROMs like socks and giving them all a whirl, but I cannot live without better carrier voice mail integration or a better solution for tracking missed calls, my job won't allow it.
If anyone can explain why AOSP/AOKP ROMs I've used have this problem and stock framework ROMs do not, I'd be grateful for the education and would also welcome work around suggestions so I can keep ROM hoping.

Because it's not built into aosp ... It's a carrier thing which is why you can do it on a touch wiz rom but not aokp or cm10 its not there to fix on aosp

So is basically hardwired into the framework of the ROM. Modified stock ROMs would work by maintaining carrier framework but AOSP/AOKP based ROMs would not because their framework is based off Google source code. That about sum it up?

To get voicemail working on aosp, install the VVM app, go to menu and record a message, then send the message to [email protected] and wait for a return message. This will provision voicemail to work on aosp. After you do that VVM will work, with the exception you will receive a text from 9016 as well as the VVM notification, and long pressing 1 will work. For long press 1 you may need to go to the dialer > settings > voicemail and add your phone #

Awesome, I'll give that a shot! So the previous comment about vvm being tied to the stock ROM framework isn't true then?

I'm on the Avatar Rom and all I did was install the latest VM apk and it works. It has a dark theme now which is nice. Not sure if there's a block text option in the Rom or have to download a app to block the texts.

It is to an extent. It only works automatically and self provisions on stock based samsung roms, it has to be done manually on AOSP/CM based roms. The other alternative is to use a 3rd party vvm app from the playstore like youmail. But manually provisioning and setting up the carrier VM options in the call settings from dialer should get the sprint VVM working. You'll get your regular vvm noti but you'll also get a text from 9016 everytime you get a message

I'm going to flash Paranoid after my next conference call and load the vmm app to activate. I'll let you know how it works. I wonder if I can blacklist 9016 to prevent those texts from coming through as a work around.

When I used gosms I used to blacklist them, you could probably spam filter them in the stock messaging app tho

Stock messaging app doesn't have a spam blocker, but I got one that works. However, I can get the VVM apk installed but it won't work right and the activation vm I sent did not return a message to me. Also, with Paranoid I'm not able to change my voicemail number from *86, whenever I enter a new number and hit OK it changes back to *86.

Try vanilla rootbox. I prefer it over PA has the same features plus more and my vvm works on it. I actually cloned rootbox to a twiz rom, has pie, pad the themeing most of the customization and still has all the samsung features like spen and multiwindow. Once I get it updated to ma7 I'm gonna release it. I was about to release my ljc version when ma7 went ota and decided to hold off til I update

Not yet. I've been having issues with the latest update and some of my mods, and have been too busy with work to actually put enough time and effort into fixing it. Seems like every time I get it ready and update comes out before I can get mine finalized. Works been way busier this year, which is good for my wallet but bad for my hobby time :sly:
