Rooted + CWM recovey
I had problems installing as it kept failing then when it looked like it installed most apps rebooted the phone.
How I resolved it, flash stock recovery then install the update.

Battery life is so much better now
Still no update
Hello all,
I'm new here and new to Android phones... I've already found lots of useful info on this site. Thanks.
However, one thing I can't find. As it says in this thread it appears that Orange finally released the 1.28 firmware update for the HTC One X yet my phone tells me that it is up to date and there are no updates available.
My firmware is still on version 1.26.061.2. I have tried forcing a recheck, I have tried winding the date forward as has been suggested for similar problems on other android phones and I have also tried a factory reset and none help.
Am I the only one without the update, is anyone else having this problem? Is there anything I can do to get the update?
Thanks in advance
Tim
Bump
Just bumping this as I am still on 1.26.061.2 and I see on here that some people on Orange are getting versions at 1.29 now. And yet my phone still tells me it is up to date.
Any ideas gratefully received.
Many thanks
Tim

Your phone's probably branded
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
you flashed an RUU to an non updating version.
everyone else had 1.26.061.5
I have ...2 like you and have also had no update.
Maybe its just me but i got this on 5-5-2012
Getting confused now then...
So, if 1.26.061.2 is a non updating version will it ever get the new updates to fix some of the issues seen?
Yes. it is a branded phone but many people with branded Orange phones seem to be getting updates to 1.28 and now to 1.29.
Is there anything I can do to get the updates or am I stuffed?
Thanks
Tim
convince someone to grap the ota zip from their temp directory and post it here.
Else contact Orange customer services.
Even if it gets posted you can't flash it manually. Pretty sure the RUU is in the Shipped ROMs thread now
I made the foolish mistake of going into an orange shop and asking if they knew. They told me that there obviously isn't any updates to apply. They were completely unhelpful.
I have managed to download 1.26.061.5 from the HTC Dev website. I'm going to try and flash this onto the phone and see if it then lets me update to 1.28 or 1.29...
I will report back on my success (or failure)
Tim
Just download the 1.28.061.9 RUU - no point using an old one. Get it here:
http://dl.dbank.com/c0bkjt78jg
And there isn't a 1.29 Orange UK ROM yet

What you've downloaded is the kernel source, not the RUU
This RUU worked. Hopefully this means all future updates will happen automatically.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

I performed the update on my brand new HTC Hero and I found out I am stuck in the middle of nowhere with no chance to root until somebody fixes the problem. During my reading, I tried almost everything, and the closest I got was to try and flash an update.zip with the original ROM back onto my device. Yet, at the moment of truth just a stupid white triangle with an exclamation mark appeared instead of the other icon meaning the thingh is working. I can't wait to root for a number of reasons, if I am getting this wrong and there actually IS another solution please help :-((

Hi mate,
I'm new to the Android OS and just got my hero as well. The first thing I did with it was to update the firmware (as recommended by Orange). Little did I know that this would prevent me from rooting.
I've tried several steps:
1. The One-Step Root Process
2. Flashing an image with the SDK
3. Rolling back to a previous version of the RUU
Nothing works, anyone have any ideas about how to get round this problem or if there's a way to 'un-update' the device, please help!
FYI: I have an HTC Hero on Orange UK running the latest HTC firmware, unrooted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VZHT389eR4
Thanks in advance.
if your phone is NOT CID locked (no clue about orange) you can go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622
and download an older RUU (1.76.405.1_R3) and downgrade, then root and upgrade.
problem obviously is that this only works if your phone is not cid locked, or somebody find away to bypass the cid check on the ruu process or finds a way to do this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559806
on updated rom versions......
Thanks
Thanks for the link, I'll take a look into it.
closing this one as currently it can't be solved.
I've started a thread that looks into this here:

Three said that they weren't releasing 1.28 but were working on the 'next update' instead.. but we got it pushed today
I spoke to three today about the update the said they dont know when it will come out its still in testing, I said to give their guys a poke as the 1.28 fixes many major problems especially the screen bouncing software bug.
Chances are that had nothing to do with it but hey I like to think it helped
Guys, what about the 1.26 RUU?
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_H3G_UK_1.26.771.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13H_release_251403_signed.exe is the file name I found it by googling the other day, cant remember the link now as im in work. If you really struggle I can upload it someplace when I get home.

Doesn't work as my hboot (I think) is too new now after flashing a 1.29 custom rom.
Fails on the update.
how do you revert when that happens
I don't know where RUU's originally come from however I have emailed three asking them to provide the 1.28 RUU.

Mate, you need to flash boot.img from the thread you downloaded the rom from. It'll stop all your issues.

Thanks I also needed one since my phone has some grip of death that not only flexes but turns the screen off (loose flex cable perhaps).
Just came home now and this download was for 1.26 Work PC isn't able to use these links.
I need for 1.28.771.9
Just released and downloading now
Yes, I've picked this up too. Upgrade went smoothly, now waiting to see what gets better and what breaks...
Nice to hear that - my operator sucks ... vodafone is this time so damn slow ....
Maps live wallpaper still crashes...
Quite impressed with Orange - they're consistently only a week or so behind the unbranded release.
Downloading it now.....

1.29.061.11So what's new Pussycats?
Anyone got a link to the changelog??
There is NEVER a changelog for OTA updates, at least not from HTC - when will people remember this!!
The ONLY one I've ever seen was for the unbranded 1.29.401.7 OTA - you can read it here:
http://www.htc.com/uk/help/htc-one-x/#download
Orange do seem better these days with updates maybe its just because this phone is more upgradeable than my old desire.
Just downloading my update as I type.
Nice surprise to start the weekend o/
Installed smoothly.
My phone had ruu 1.29.061.11 however I bricked my phone and I need to find this RUU so I can save it. But I cannot find the full RUU anywhere

Thanks but I have tried this RUU and it failed. I have been told this because it wont allow you to install an older RUU then you already have. I really need the 1.29.061.11 or newer RUU because this is what my phone had before I messed it up.
(This is where I read this)
' Note that the RUUs will all function on any of the phones, but the CID locking prevents you from 'debranding' your phone by installing a generic [[#RUU]]. Additionally, the CID-related software also prevents you from installing an older RUU than what you are currently running.'-The android dictionary
hmmmm. Well I started with 1.26.061.5 and was able to install .2

hmm maybe its only the '1.26' or the '1.29' that need to go up. Also would you know if It makes a difference if the bootloader is locked or unlocked when installing a ruu?
I imagine you're supposed to reflash the generic recovery and relock but I'd have to go have a read.
I've been holding off rooting myself in the hope of discovering s-off.
I will just have to wait for the latest orange ruu to be uploaded
I am enjoying my new One X, but I have some minor issues with it. The phone I got is a prize from HTC after I won a competition they conducted. I picked up my phone myself from their office and found out that the phone I got is a demo phone, the one that comes in red bubble wrap. When I checked the software number on my phone, it showed a version number of 1.15.401.1 while the latest here in the Philippines is 1.29. Anyway, the thing is, I can't update the phone. Whenever I try to update it, it says that there are no available updates for my phone. I've already tried calling HTC and contacting their email support but I am not getting any straight answers, all they're saying is to regularly check for updates. Is there any other way to update it? Like, is there a "1.29 firmware version file" here in xda that I can download and install? Any reply regarding my issue would be of great help! Thank you!

If you have Fastboot files, can you issue a
Fastboot getvar all
And copy the output here? You can find fastboot files in the development section

Search for 1.29.401.11 RUU and try that, there is a thread here with all ENDEAVOR RUUs on filefactory.
Similar sort of thing, I have a Telecom NZ One X and it's on 1.26. Telecom NZ are taking far too long to update.
Can I flash a stock unbranded ROM and have it update as per that ROM?
I don't want to have to reflash for each update, I want it to update OTA when new updates for that ROM are released.
Possible? I really hope so, 1.26 is so crap on battery that I can't use it as much as my Desire :crying:
I'd say you need to find an Endeavour RUU, Ask Mike1986, I think I saw somewhere that he has one.
Try unlocking the Boot Loader and then flashing the latest 2.05.401.2 ARHD Rom onto the phone, then it's rooted and it's basically all stock.

Im on the same version of Android since i got the phone, the bootloader is unlocked with S-ON and it has been working fine since i got it. I heard 5.1 had been released, is there a H3G RUU for the new version or can i use the Europeon one.. my CID Num is H3G__001.
Because i am rooted it says it cant check for updates, can anyone tell me what i can do?
I thought about restoring the original software RUU and then updating, but what if my service provider hasnt released the update, unless their is another H3G M9 user on the forum who can tell me different.
Thanks.

Your best bet is to S-OFF, then Super CID. After you have done that just restore the newest WWE RUU. That way you're on the latest version and can continue to receive any new updates a lot sooner - none of that waiting for the network to release the update. Especially with marshmallow round the corner.

Other than the way you stated not really. If you don't want to go S-OFF then you'll need to restore stock and update, then root again.
Hey there buddy.
What the chance you backed up your stock H3G recovery.
I flashed TWRP and forgot to take a backup, now can't flash the update.
I posted in this forum asking in anyone had the UK H3G stock recovery but no answers.
Cheers.
