[Q] RESET Phone with a broken LCD (touch unresponsive) - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

so one morning i dropped my gnex and broke the lcd, i can see half of the screen, but the touch is not responding, replacing the display cost me 180 euro, so im planning on selling this broken device on ebay. which means i need to delete/reset all the data on the phone.
honestly i miss how easy it was to restore an iphone via itunes.
anyways, i read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25609098#post25609098 thread, but im stuck right on the 2nd step.
can some1 help me out?

Do it via adb. Flash stock image via fast boot in bootloader

My question is: how can I take my file from my broken nexus, cuz when I connect it to my PC i have to pass the pattern lock screen
Now i can’t do it to access my files on the phone memory.
Pls... Your F1 is appreciated

I had the same problem with my GNex. What I ended up doing is using the Galaxy Nexus Tool Kit. It will do a backup of your phone and will also boot it in ADB mode Fastboot mode or Recovery without having to touch the screen or unlock it, Here is the download link http://www.mediafire.com/?bcsg3s9gcw23c9a . Good luck
Its possible to replace only the glass lens and not the whole display......search this forum or YouTube for "glass lens replacement galaxy s3" it costs about 20$

[Q] Mother board swap/MEID

Hey guys,
My GN's screen randomly just wont work. The system boots up and everything (I can tell from vibrations and notification light). Its unlocked/rooted and running a 4.2 rom. I went to verizon this morning and theyre shipping me out a new one this week. My question is would I be able to swap out the motherboard so I can avoid having to completely reset my phone etc, and avoid any worries regarding them finding out that the phone is unlocked and rooted, I dont think I can unroot it without use of the screen. So can I swap out the motherboard or is the motherboard married to that individual MEID number? Any help would be great, thanks in advance:good:
anyone?
nevermind just gonna swap the screens

[Q] Broken Screen - My Options?

Hi all,
Firstly - I apologise if this is in the wrong section, mods - please move if you so wish.
OK now to my dilemma. My beloved Galaxy Nexus (stock 4.2.1 yakju - locked bootloader and no root) has had its screen broken by a toddler.
The phone still powers on but no display and there's no tactile response from the screen either so I can't actually see/do anything with it! I have it plugged into my PC and have transferred my photos/documents so data is not an issue.
The handset is not insured so that is not an option either. I have seen prices quoted for around £150 (I am in England) which will replace the LCD panel and digitiser but I do not want my phone going for repair with all my accounts etc still on the phone, ideally i want to completely restore the phone to factory default, is there anyway I can do this from my PC?
I have already sourced another Galaxy Nexus from Gumtree and happily using that... my immediate thought was to replace the broken screen with the one from the working handset but then I run the risk of having two un-usable phones!
Just throwing out there to you wonderful people... is there anything I can do to wipe/control my phone from my PC?
I think if you flash a factory image from fastboot then it will also delete all your data including the accounts.
Me personally I'd try to open it and check the connections that the screen and digitiser are correct and tight I know in the UK I live here to I've got a crack on my screen and was annoyed when I got quoted 150 for a fix

Thanks for the response guys, I don't think I can even flash via adb as it would still require some screen input to get into fastboot and i just can't see anything on there - its blank.
Fury - yes i was annoyed... especially this close to christmas! no where could repair within 24 hours so decided on a secondhand phone from gumtree which seems to be working perfectly well.
If anyone has a barred or a broken Galaxy Nexus with screen intact then please get in touch
Best thing to do is throw it in the garbage as your accounts would be worth far more that what the phones worth in that condition an just get another phone.

The cost of replacing a screen is simply not worth it unless of course you do it yourself which is a delicate procedure, most ppl who get screens replaced have insurance otherwise they usually just put up with a broken screen if they can still manage to use the phone until they decide to purchase a replacement or get an upgrade on contract.

Need Help : Galaxy Nexus Bootloop Issue

Hi Guys,
I have been lurking around these forums for a while now and finally decided to post.
I need some help with an issue with my wife's unrooted GSM Nexus. She happened to drop her phone cracking the front glass but thankfully still functional otherwise, so i decided to replace only the glass myself using one of the youtube guides out there.
I was able to successfully replace the glass but since then the phone has gone into a bootloop at the Nexus Logo. I even tried re-installing the motherboard but no luck. Not sure what i did wrong as i did not tamper with the other components in anyway (i did not initially dismantle the mobo parts to replace the glass as the glass was accessible after removing the back cover).
I am getting nowhere with my research on this so i ask you guys for help. First priority is to get my stuff backed up off the phone (dumb of me not to do it in the first place i know) and Secondly to see if i can get it running again.
I am otherwise a complete noob when it comes to messing with the software part of it so please forgive me if i dont follow
Thanks

broken lcd screen, need to unlock and wipe data to sell

My bro broke his S4 lcd screen 2 times within 1 month. We already had it repaired once that costed over $250 to replace the screen. Somehow tmobile f'ed up when we bought the phones and they did not add insurance to ours plans even though they said over the phone over 5 times that it was on all of phones. We are trying to cut our losses and now we have to sell all of our phones and rebuy them to get the insurance that we requested in the first place. My bro's lcd is still broken and now we are trying to sell it. How can we sell my bro's s4 with the broken screen for the most money so we can throw less money into the pit. I was thinking if we got it factory unlocked we could probably sell it for $100 more. His screen wont turn on at all. It seems that everything is working except the screen. Are there any ways to unlock the phone, back up everything and erase everything before we sell it with a non functional screen? How much do you think that could fetch on ebay and do you think it will sell for less once the note 3 comes out? Thanks.
Have you tried hooking to PC via USB cable to see if you can access the sd card?
That way you can get pictures off the phone and delete the one on the phone.
If you have "wipe device" enable in Google settings you could wipe all the data from the phone before selling it. Without a working screen it's kinda hard to do much. Does the screen still react to touch or is it completely dead?
If the touch screen still works buy an mhl cable and connect to your TV so u can navigate to setting and do a reset or even unlock it.

Is the wipe device setting need to be turned on or is it on by default? How does it work/activate? He somehow needs to get some information from an app. Is there a way that I could just copy the data while connected to a PC and somehow load it on my phone so he can get the info that he needs. I have not used Samsung Kies, do you think that could help me out in any way? Are there ways to control the phone through a command prompt while connected to a PC, his phone is rooted? If somehow I could do a nandroid backup that would help things a lot. If I can't wipe the phone through googles settings should I just delete as many files on the internal sd I can without corrupting the phone. I don't know which files are crucial without breaking the phone. Where should I start? Thank you.

I do have an mhl adapter but I do not think that the screen is responsive. However, the soft keys are reacting. I do not have the mhl adapter with me right now to test it out. Doesn't the screen need to be first unlocked for it to show up on the TV? Lucky, I did not set it up with a complex unlock method. However it still could be very difficult to unlock the screen. If this does not work out do I have any other options? What about the value for resale? Should I try to sell it before the unveiling of the note 3 or do you guys think that the value will not drop much?
I noticed that the screen that was used to replace the original broken screen was a little less vibrant and clear than mine. The repair guy swears that the screen was made by Samsung. Are there other companys now making screens for the S4 that are inferior to the originals? Could that be why the screen broke so soon? Thank you all for helping me.
Wipe device feature would have to be turn on by the user (not default)
