[Q] One X odd tint - HTC One X

Hi all
Well, I bought a One X from Amazon UK which unfortunately kept dropping signal no matter what network provider I tried so Amazon had no problem with sending me a new phone which arrived today (signal perfect). I still have the faulty unit here and apart from the signal issue the phone was perfect, no screen issues etc which I have read others experience. My ptoblem is this, when I hold my new replacement next to my previous handset, the new one has an odd tint to it. Almost like a slight yellow. Visible mainly on whites and greys but you can tell on other colours also. I have Googled and read threads about the Yellow Dots some people have and I do not have this issue with my screen. My screen is like the "Warm" setting you see on many HDTV's today.
Should I try another one do you think? Amazon have absolutely no problem with replacing but I also do not want to be to much of a fusspot.

Did you mean to post this in the international One X section?

If it bothers you then try another one, but first send back the one with the broken antenna lol

[Q] dead/stuck pixels, how common are they on the Defy??

Hi, I have my Defy for about a month and just now noticed 2 tiny stuck pixels of green/blue colour. They are actually visible only on black screen and in normal usage you can only find them if you know where they are, otherwise it only looks like a tiny particle of dust.
Since I only noticed it now it's too late for me to send it back
Have tried different software solutions and ran them over some nights, but nothing helped. So it seems they are permanent. I'm still on stock firwmare and havent flashed it yet.
It's sort of psychological thing... personally, I find it frustrating and it pisses me off because I know the problem is there and I have paid the full price for the phone to be perfect.
I was wondering how many of you experienced this and is there any chance that motorola would cover this problem under warrianty (in EU)?
My first Defy got a stuck pixel within the first week of me owning it. I phoned T-Mo and they sent me a replacement the next day. Before I did that though, I asked a T-Mo employee in one of their shops about it. He told me that if I couldn't get it sorted over the phone, to come back into the shop and they would help me get it replaced under warranty.
I don't really know how it all works but that was just my situation - hopefully it's of some use.
My defy that I just sold had two dead white pixels. One in the middle of the screen and one about the height of the volume rocker. Only visible on black screen though.

White One X issues

Hi, this is my first post so id like to say hi.
This place has been a mine of info for me during my two weeks of owning my HOX.
I am now onto my third White HOX.
This morning i swapped it as the screen flexing was becoming too much of an annoyance. The first phone had a faulty battery, the second one flex and low and behold this one also has flex issues.
I swapped it at carphone warehouse. I have to say they have been very good. The manager served me today and bought out 7 white phones all of which had the flex issue. He has given me the best of the worst. I just hope this battery is ok. He apologised and said maybe the new batches would be better but its shocking quality control and he is sending all of the white ones back to HTC asap and demanding an explanation.
My main issues with the flexing is i am worried i might break the screen.
anyway seen now that Amazon have withdrawn the white HOX, wonder if CPW will be next! (and no im not flaming this i actually want to like the phone i came from an Iphone 4)

what is CPW?
why do you associate it with colour? The same didn't apply for the gray/black?

My own survey of a number of headsets does actually suggest that flexing is less on grey handsets. Hamdir supposed that the accuracy of the moulding of the polycarbonate has an effect on this. If so, then assuming the grey ones come out of a different mould, perhaps they are generally more "to shape" and hence are having fewer issues. All guesses of course
Both phones have the same issues, just majority of people are buying the white whats why there are "more" defected white HOX.
I wonder what's going on with the white phones. Me and my friend both bought ours from amazon around the 20th of April and we both have perfect ones, no issues that software updates didn't fix. I thought it was just a minority of people having problems, but now I'm starting to feel really lucky!!

I too have had no bother with my One x....got it from Amazon ,pre ordered it a week before the came out.....
MY phone is 100% except for the software fixes that they have got.....
I am thinking I am lucky also .
My HTC ONE X is white and model number HT23HW.
yeah there is a return and replacements thread for this kind of thing. there are probably threads about the issues like that flex already as well. but congratulations for making another post just like the others so that more people will follow and do the same. =]
Must admit mine is fine too .Its grey and I've had it since launch. Really am beginning to think mine is an exception

There's no such thing as a "white" One X. There is a One X which is built as a single unit and during the last stage of assembly placed in to either a white or grey body. I'd also venture to guess that the both the grey and white bodies are pressed using the same molds. I can't imagine anything unique about the white polycarbonate body that could possibly make it perform differently than a grey one. It's a piece of non-conductive plastic.

Quite simply if the body was undersized, or distorted in some way, such that it was pressing where it shouldn't, then a number of issues could result. I doubt that the white and grey bodies come out of the same mold. That would mean they would have to produce one or the other at any one time.
I agree, if the moulds were some how off ever so slightly then the phone wouldnt perform correctly (flex, ripples etc) my new one has a gap at the top of the screen where dust likes to gather.

There have been more polls, informal counts, and banter about issues on this forum than any other I've ever participated in. One went down to the day and month the phone was built. With all of this searching for a pattern, I assure you if color played a role it couldn't have escaped the eagle eyes of the participants of this forum who examine each phone with a neuron microscope. I've been in product management and can also assure you that the tolerances capable of drilling the microscopic speaker holes mean that the formation of the overall body isn't what's out of spec and causing technical challenges. It's not a piece of Lego.
Believe what you want, rationality left this forum weeks ago.

[Q] Is anyone happy with their One X?

We've all seen threads about issues with the screen. The update is out (somewhat) and new manufacturing dates have been found. Is anyone out there with no issues?
I'm about to buy mine in about an hour or so and this has freaked me out.
I have absolutely no issues with my unbranded One X. No flexing, no yellow spots, not dust, no dead pixels, excellent battery life (charging every other night) and no flickering.
I feel like I have a special device with all the moaning going on

Thank you. Do you mind telling me the manufacturing batch?
The only fault I've seen is flickering, HTC are clearly well on top of that and it is software, every clue is that the latest update fixes it.
So.... Yes, I am happy as Larry with mine, despite the slight screen flicker.
Please do yourself a favor and get an unbranded handset from cpw of p4u who should match any deal you're getting elsewhere.
Very mixed feelings about the Tegra-based 1X here. No screen issues, flexing, etc., like others have complained of, but my particular unit has *terrible* GPS. I'm not talking about long time to lock, I'm talking about position that jumps 100s of meters constantly, making GPS tracks useless. This problem has really destroyed my enthusiasm for the device.
I love the screen/display. Except for the lack of the inky dark blacks on my Samsung phones, the 1X has the sharpest screen I've ever seen, and great color reproduction.
The phone gets very hot if you tax it, ie., with heavy games. I was playing Dark Meadow: The Pact yesterday and the screen was so hot it burned my fingers if I kept then still too long.
Good luck with yours if you buy.
its really a great phone, go and buy it. i have no heating issues, but i am not a gamer. dont forget to use a custom rom
Can we please stop posting these useless threads. There are so many of them.
I'm happy with my sim free UK one x only the battery the let down as I'm a heavy internet user.

I am getting an unbranded one. From a brick and mortar store though. Call htc to confirm international warranty. I am in India or Canada hence cannot use CPW. Don't know about P4U. Will check it out.

That's certainly true, but if nobody says anything, new users will keep posting these threads.
let the rookies reply to such questions and have the mods or admins deleted if too many asking same questions and always open a new topic for that.
so far i never had to ask something, because there was always someone who post the same question and i found what i was searching for
Bought one. No appearing issues. There is a slight screen flex but no discoloration on pressing. No screen flicker (not yet at least). No yellow tint. I don't know how to keep it safe. Already have a little scruff on the bottom corner.
No problem whatsoever on my HOX ( unbranded )
Till now at least ...
Love it but unhappy with current battery stats.
Other than that it's a good phone, the screen is lovely. I just sometimes look at it in awe. Sure would have been nice to have removable battery/microsd/better SQ but it will do me for the next few months until next Nexus/iP5/Sony Mint etc.
SGS3 - I have preordered from Amazon and will make use of the 7 day return policy so I can test it and compare against the HOX.
I have had mine for a few weeks now and everything is perfect, no flickering or spots anything like that. Only thing that is slightly annoying is the battery life, i finding myself charging it twice a day but I'm a heavy user and the phones always in my hand

I've had my phone for around a month now, though it's not perfect (the screen it's sealed in 100% on the left meaning a 1mm gap allows light to shine out in the bottom left corner) I'm glad I got it.
It is a lovely phone. The screen is crisp, it's responsive and coming from an HTC Wildfire it's a real joy.
If you're one of the lucky few to get a phone with little to no faults then kudos and I'm sure it will make your phone seem even better.
I am confused and I truly don't know what all the fuzz is about.
* Yellowish tinge on the screen?
- Nope.
* Phone not booting after updating?
- Nope, and I've done 3 updates since I bought it.
* Battery draining like crazy?
- Nope, been using the phone the entire day and still at 73% (and even Bluetooth was activated the entire day to call hands free in the car)
* Wi-Fi problems?
- Nope.
If people are so unhappy about this phone go and buy a ****ty galaxy in blue

I have a question, what will happen if making brightness full and leaving it overnight? does it makes some difference to the LCD? or does this works?
nothing will help you trying to get rid of those yellow spots. They appear when phone gets warm and they disappear when phone gets cool, the only way to remove yellow tint is to send it back for a repair.
BTW, used phones got warranty too. But you have to have INVOICE/RECEIPT - any prove that you bought it in a legal way. Buying used phones is legal, but you should get some sort of proof.
If you are without warranty there is a posibility that you got your phone ilegally (stolen/ditched batch).
And one more thing - there are two types of HTC One X out there
1) TRADE ones - usualy they are cheaper with more problems (screen, yellow spots, bad tegra chip, hot as hell) and are usualy sold WW mostly via internet. Usualy they are some sort of "not so good at quality control but we (htc) need money so lets sell them for a lesser amount of money".
2) SELLING ones - they are more expensive and sold by official HTC distibuters and carriers. They have outstanding performance and build quality due to good quality control. But remember, some of SELLING ones can end up with TRADE batch so some might be lucky (I am sorry but AMAZON, EBAY, EXPANSYS have the TRADE ones so you will most likely have some problems with the phone.)

I got a yellow tint at the top of my screen about two weeks ago after having my One X for about 4 weeks. I noticed the phone was getting hot with just about anything I did i.e. using Facebook. I downloaded Dead Pixel Detect and Fix off Play Store, set the colour to yellow and put it on full brightness overnight. I also pressed gently on the affected area with the yellow tint and that helped "massage" the tint away a bit. The next morning it had pretty much gone and stayed away since.

OK, Now I have downloaded "Dead Pixel Detect and Fix" from Play Store, now what should I choose? There are 2 options.
"Fix It" and "Colour"
what should I do next to resolve yellow spots?
was ur issue resolved?
I had two one xs and both had yellow spots. In both phones it went away on its own.
Yellow Tint
I too had the Yellow Stains on the screen. Resolution "HTC replaced the screen". However they took 3 weeks for replacement as the parts were not available. Contrary they provided me +1Month of warranty on the phone.
I am using the replaced screen for 3 weeks now and i see a Yellow spot on the right bottom corner. Will be giving this to the service centre again this week.
I came to this forum to know why the spots occur in first place

had the yellow spot bottom left of screen, fridge trick seemed to work for a very short time, then I came to the fix (for me anyway) I had a rubber type skin/cover on the phone, I took it off and within an hour the yellow dot had disappeared, this may sound basic, but those of you with a protective case and a yellow dot, simply try it and see.

Screen problems

So I've been having some issues with my G3 and have been searching around with little luck. Does anyone else have these issues?
When I use my touchscreen, I can see distortion from the pressure placed onto the lcd screen. I'm not pressing hard on the screen at all.
Also, I've seen some people write about being able to see the digitizer in the background of their screens. Is this common on all G3's? It's very noticeable on mine and is really bothering me...
Also, this is my second G3. The first had a perfect screen (without noticeable digitizer), but had a VERY sensitive touchscreen (also viewable distortion from just normal swiping). My phone came from BestBuy and the only store with a white one in stock is 40 miles away from me. All the other BestBuy stores that are close to me all have black in stock. I know it sounds dumb, but are the problems I mentioned isolated to the white models only? So far both the white G3s I've had are having these problems...
Don't have either of those issues, but mine is a Best Buy purchased black version (AT&T)
Don't see how the color of the phone would have anything to do with this, doubt there is a difference in production. Good luck.
