Hardware Issues Thread - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Does anyone else have some phone hardware issues?
My power button works only if you press the back of it and my USB port randomly disconnects from PC mounting. I don't understand how this phone is supposed to last 2 years. I've had mine for 9 1/2 months and it already has some problems.

Yeah I'll be possibly replacing my power button soon. For as great a phone as this is it does have some major hardware issues..
I think Verizon must pay HTC less than the other major stores..
The Eris had a bad trackball but the hero worked great..
Never had the Inc so I can't speak for it..
This phone has the bad charge port and power button but the evo, evo 3d, etc all seem really solid..I think the Inc s even has less complaints.
Idk though.

Yeah, this is probably my last HTC device for a while though as my next one will be the Galaxy Nexus or the S3 depending on release date specs, etc.

I know this is not completely on topic, as it was a software problem, but my phone lost the ability to receive texts whenever I flashed anything. Apparently it was a problem with the code and I found a hot fix from the Inc to fix it.
I don't think we should be running into code problems from a year ago still.

If the galaxy nexus runs anything like the nexus s 4g from sprint I would avoid that phone, my fiance has one and I had to root it just to get it to work work better but it still has issues like slow to load web pages and not connecting to the market both over mobile network and wifi

1. You probably had a lemon.
2. Read a Gnexus review
3. Issues: battery life and signal
4. 4.0.4 fixes signal
5. AOKP with GLaDOS/lean kernel fixes battery
6. You now have a phone with no issues that runs with no lag.

My power button was broken the day I got it. I told the Verizon rep that I couldn't press the top button correctly (being left handed doesn't make it any better). He said it was fine so I just believed him. I got a silicon case with a "button replacement" for the power button. It would push the button in. I can't live without the case. It takes me forever to lock the phone without the case.

USB mode
When i connect my usb to pc it doesnot show the diskdrive in my computer...i did check in settings and selected DISK DRIVE option but it does not show the drive in my pc...but my phone charges on connecting it to pc...i am all confused what to do....

knock on wood ive never had an issue with the htc phones ive owned...my inc2 has been rock solid since i got it last july, and my og inc is still chugging along (now being used by my parents) 2 years later
my wife's tbolt has been fine hardware-wise, just the general terrible battery life associated with first gen lte devices
my other experiences with non htc are mixed: my first fascinate lasted from october 2010 until last june when the speaker gave out (inc2 was actually a warranty replacement for it), but the 2nd one i had (donation) was pretty solid and is also currently being used by my parents (not sure which one uses the og inc and which uses the fascinate)
when i had a droid x, it was ok on the hw front...but generally speaking moto is ok with that...its the software issues that kill you

I recall people having power button issues a few months after the phone came out and some of them returning it because of it. I mainly saw it on another forum but occasionally it popped up here.
I've had the USB issue be weird but only on my Mac, when I use the phone on a Windows desktop it's been fine with USB.
I got this the day it released and have been more than happy with it but I may jump ship to the Inc. 4g LTE or the rumored device for fall. I don't want to jump ship but I feel like this is going the way of the Eris. Promised an update to 2.1 for "Q1" only to have it come out much much later. I like the phone a lot but I'm left wanting a bit more.

DINC2 Issues
Amphibliam, in my experience with the DINC2, the random USB disconnects are a pre-cursor to the micro-USB port failing completely. I had to get my phone replaced under warranty at 11 months due to this. No power button issues with either phone.
On a positive note, the new phone is much better. The old phone's display was pulled away from the glass on the left side and had been that way since day 1. The old phone would also FC voice input if the orientation of the phone was changed from landscape to portrait or vice-versa and would also not work when I had my bluetooth headset enabled (it works now with the headset enabled but I still have to talk into the phone's microphone).
I am now VERY careful with the charging port as I need this phone to last 12 more months. I have found on eBay where the charging port module can be purchased relatively cheaply and it really doesn't look too bad to replace since my warranty ends this month.

Here's a note on VZW's forums that describe the repair (briefly) -
https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/803023#803023
Just an update for those who don't have the warranty for some reason and don't mind DIY repair...
New USB port pcb board was $16 on ebay. Replacement requires a star tip screwdriver and involves removing about 10 screws and disconnecting a couple of small flex cables. No soldering required. It was not hard, but it's always better to let somebody experienced do the repair

USB not working. Going crazy. Ready to throw the Tilt 2 onto the ground.

I have no idea what's going on, but I can't get my Tilt 2 to tether, sync, or even see my PC. It was working fine one day, then it stoped working only to start working again. Today I spent over 4 hours trying to get it to work. I looked on all the forums to try to get help without any luck. I even hard booted (reset the firmware) and blew out everything in my phone. That didn't do anything other than to lose all my settings and configurations. Anytime I plug the USB cable into the phone (I've tried 2 computers and 3 different USB cables) it just charges the unit.
Would anyone have any ideas or tips I can use to get this darn phone tethering again or seeing my PC in general?
Thanks!
Nathan
Had the same happen to me. I had to use task29 to erase everything on my phone, then my computer recognized the phone as a storage device. I flashed a new ROM and ActiveSync worked again.
Yeap .. I Had This Happen ...
Had This Happen To Me to..
I had to bend the connector on the tp2 .. so the usb cable "fit" better

Ahah. I don't know. I never bothered figuring that part out. My Tilt 2 suddenly became very problematic, not connecting to the internet, or connecting via Active Sync, so I just used the program tool and task 29 and it worked out.
I just checked out the USB port on the phone. I got a pin that you would normally get when you buy new shirts and poked around in the port. I pulled out a bit of lint. Saw one gold pin was crossed in there and fixed it. Since it was on the bottom though it really didn't make much difference with tethering and such since a regular USB port seems to only use the top.
Plugged in the computer USB into the phone and nothing. Same thing. To think I started all this because first I need to sync my phone with Activesync and second I wanted to flash the ROM with the new AT&T ROM that's out. Doesn't seem I'll ever be able to do that. I think a call to AT&T is in order and maybe I can get a replacement unit. This one is really pointing to a hardware problem.

AT&T was no help whatsoever. They didn't even know what I was talking about when I said tether. Their suggestion since I didn't have insurance was to buy a new phone. Sigh. I saw that AT&T has the phone for 1 cent but I'd have to change my data plan to 2GB with tethering from my current plan of unlimited with tethering for the same price (damn Apple who made them do that).
Anyone have a suggestion on getting the phone I currently own to work? I'm not really inclined to buy software as someone mentioned (sktools). Someone mentioned replog.exe but they never specify if it's on the phone or the PC. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Nathan
Silly question maybe, if so I am sorry but,
have you checked through the Active Sync settings on your phone and, if you have settings for the USB to PLC connection, check those. Also start up Active sync on your PC and check how that is set up.
Again, sorry if you have done this.
Seems to be a TP2/Tilt2 issue that's ongoing, the connector on the bottom of my touchpro2 stopped working as a USB connection a couple months back. Lately I've even been having trouble charging it in the car (since the cable bounces around). I'm using a non-stock ROM so I have to find a way to re-lock the phone (after re-flashing OEM ROM) without connecting to my computer.

Hi, not a silly question. I tried the phone on 4 different computers that had activesync on it and the phone wouldn't even recognize that a USB for data was plugged in. It worked fine for charging though.
I couldn't find any configuration for the USB port, so I may be SOL.
I was going to just buy a new Tilt 2, but thinking back the USB connector has been pretty flaky to begin with. Sometimes the unit will work when plugged in and sometimes I had problems. It could be that my phone was failing all this time and that's why it's been flaky, but others have had the same problem. Since I need tethering I might still buy a new HTC phone (I hate to do that since I'm not too thrilled with the way they design the phone) but just not the Tilt 2.

The phone hasn't been out for even a year, so you must have had it for less than a year. So its still on warranty, unless you bought a refurb. All ATT's phones are warrantied for one year. Refurbs are warrantied for 90 days.
http://telephones.att.com/telephones_ui/support/dsp_limited_warranty.cfm
Also, assuming you bought the Tilt2 at the subsidized price, you will not be eligible for the 1 cent discount price. You only get to purchase one phone "upgrade" at the subsidized price every 2 years. You will have to pay full price ($400) minus the $250 discount they have right now, so it would still cost you $150.
Try calling ATT again, it seems the rep you talked to didn't know much about smartphones or their company's data plans (since they didn't know what tethering was), or about their warranty policies.
Unless your phone is very different to my UK version it will have settings to allow it to use USB and maybe you should look further into the set-up on the phone itself.
The settings I have are in
Start/Settings/Connections/USB to PC.
Also,
if you run Active Sync on your phone and select Menu the connection needs setting there for USB.
Bluetooth
Have you try teether with Bluetooth? It is not a fix but at least this would be a work around plan. I can teether with Bluetooth or USB connection.
Thanks for all the help and suggestion everyone. They've been very helpful.
tjhawkes, I've been using the USB to PC for as long as I have had the phone. I guess that's what was meant when it was suggested I configure the USB?
chompx2 - I don't have have bluetooth on my desktop PC.
Redpoint - my phone was a refurb so I guess no warranty for me. I would be happy to pay $150 to get a new one though if that's what it cost. I tried to get the representative on the phone to do it but she refused(!) thinking I could get it cheaper somewhere else. I looked on ebay and everyone seemed to be selling it for $250. So, if $150 is what it cost, then I'm game for that.
That said, I have an old Tilt with a broken screen. I was going to take the USB port from that phone and install it on the Tilt 2 and see if perhaps that was the problem all along. I just looked at the USB port in my Tilt2 and one of the bottom row has a pin missing. Must have broken off. However, I can't imagine that being the problem though since a regular USB on a computer only uses the top row. Sigh. Technology.

Appears I was wrong about having to wait until your contract was up to get the 1 cent deal (check out posts 13 and 14 on the following thread):

I say go for it, since it sounds like you have a hardware issue (pins on USB port damages).

You will need to buy a phone that works on the AT&T high speed network. I don't think a "world" HTC phone will work with anything except EDGE.
I had the same no USB problem with my phone. Would charge fine via the cable, but no transfers, PC's wouldn't recognize it, etc, etc.
Took it into an AT&T store and they accepted it on the spot for a warranty exchange. They did the usual inspection for damage, water/moisture contact & such, but were happy to replace the phone for me.
I had a non-standard ROM on the phone, and changing the ROM and Hard-SPL back to stock via the MicroSD card was a bit of a challenge, but I did get it done in the end.
I was still able to sync via Bluetooth and use the Wifi Router on the phone for internet access for my PC, so overall, I would say that the lack of USB functionality wasn't a game ender for me, but I agree that it is annoying!
Cheers and good luck.
Because I like beating a dead horse with a stick, I thought I'd let you know what I ended up doing. I went to the AT&T store as suggested and they wouldn't exchange it. I called AT&T warranty and they wouldn't do it. The USB port's right audio pin got pushed into the phone so any type of USB damage would have ended up costing me over $300 for a new phone. I bought what I thought was the right port from a cellphone parts company in Hong Kong. Turned out the USB port was soldered onto the motherboard so I couldn't use the part. However, while the phone was open I pushed the pin back out and now the audio works again.
Syncing and tethering, however, is still dead. What's interesting was that it was working reliably, especially while on vacation just a week beforehand. Not sure what caused it to die.
So, I've basically given up. I fixed my old HTC Tilt (Kaiser) LCD screen and now I'm just going to tether with that phone instead. Sad because that phone is more reliable than the Tilt2. Too bad it didn't have the nice screen and a nice music interface.
Ouch, I had similar problems but with my Kaiser not my TP2 so I hope the same doesn't happen. I did some research and it turns out that the reason that micro USB connections are now the standard are that they have a much more reliable life cycle than the mini USB connectors the TP2 and Kaiser use (and lots of other Kaiser users complained of the same failure).
In brief, we're all doomed.

[Q] getting a new phone?

hi everyone. ive been a tmobile customer for quite a few years after leaving alltell and i love it. in march of 09 i got a brand new motorola cliq. i loved the phone. a few months after having it, i receieved a software upgrade for the phone. just a minor upgrade. i went to install it and my phone bricked. i called tmobile about it and they sent me a new motorola cliq and i sent them my bricked one. free of charge. well in the recent months this cliq has been through a lot. ive dropped it into the kitchen sink while washing dishes twice. but it still worked. its fallen out of my pocket quite a few times while jogging around the neighborhood. so now its got quite a few problems. ill try to list them all.
1. Whenever i turn the phone off, it decides to automatically turn itself back on.
2. In order for me to use it as a USB device on a computer, i have to plug in the cable, turn off the phone, allow it to turn itself on, and then it will be recognized.
3. In order to charge the phone, i have to plug in the cable to both the wall and the phone, and then power off the phone and allow it to turn itself back on. then it starts charging. but if i bump it even just a little bit, i have to go through the process again.
4. A fairly big piece of the touchscreen at the top of the phone is missing due to falling out of my pocket. Therefore resulting in nearly half of the touchscreen not being able to be used.
5. The phone itself runs very slow and laggy. Its running android 2.1-update 1. It takes nearly 10 minutes for the phone to be functional once turned on.
6. Using the web browser and or sending mms/sms messages takes much longer than other android phones
7. Sometimes while the phone is being charged, it thinks the charger is being removed and then plugged back in when its really not. so it vibrates like crazy.
8. The hinges holding the screen to the keyboard have been damaged so now the phone is hard to slide open. Also anytime time i slide open the phone, the letter "p" on the keyboard is always pushed down.
Ive contacted tmobile several times about these problems and they said that i am not able to get a full upgrade. i really am hoping to get the g2 as i cannot go without android and a keyboard. So i was just wondering if any of you would know some tips on getting tmobile to send me a new g2 free of charge as i am very very tight on money? or even some things i could say to them to get one?
I think you have to go through 3 or 4 replacements before they recommend changing to a different device, but I highly doubt they will swap it out for a G2 since the price difference of the phones is huge. Other than an upgrade I don't know of any other way they will give you one for free.
There is no way they'll hook you up with a G2 for free. Maaaybe another Cliq, but its rife with user inflicted physical damage issues so who knows. You could call tmo and ***** your way over to retention and as a last ditch effort to salvage you they will offer you a full upgrade, but even then you still pay a couple hundred. Free is just outside the realm of possibility I'm afraid. Good luck though. My sister has the cliq and has a few of those issues too.

ahh. i just cant stand to have all these problems. several of my friends have gotten free phones from tmobile by complaining and saying that they were going to go to other carriers. i was told before by a few customer service reps that i would be eligble for a full upgrade now but they lied about that

Woot, finally got a G-Nex, hope I'm not disappointed XD

I findally got a G-Nex. Been having WAY to many problems with my Bionic and they're sending a G-Nex out to me tomorrow. I know it's not the latest anymore, but unlockable bootloader, etc is gonna be awesome. Is the storage onboard a plenty or is that gonna gimp me from being used to an SD Card now?
So, did I make a good choice coming from the Bionic, with little dev to the G-Nex? Is development gonna be alive on this device for a long time seeing how it's a Nexus device?

Subjective, yep, yep.
I was just tired of my bluetooth dropping every 10-15 seconds, still haven't figured that out either. Call quality was horrible up in Boone, NC, which I know shouldn't be perfect since it's in the mountains, but you would think it'd be somewhat decent and not drop every few seconds while a dumb phone on the same network would be fine, perfect, etc.
But I'm excited, can't wait to see what I can do with this phone.
Got the phone today, guess what it is -_-
An LG Revolution. The very first phone I had replaced 6 times for overheating, freezing up, etc. Apparently the rep didn't note that he was sending me an Nexus and so I had to spend an hour half on the phone with Verizon to get it sorted out and just why would they send a phone I've already called and had issues with 6 times again after sending an upgraded phone to me 4 times.
The only downside now is I've got to pay the $49.99 for an extended battery and cover for the GNex, which I guess is better than the $700 for the phone itself. Now, they told me my Bionic charger will work for the GNex, but I didn't ask about the USB cable just in case they put 2 and 2 together, but will I need to go buy a Samsung usb cable for connect it to the computer or will my Bionic one work? Is it as finicky as the Bionic was with having it's OWN unique cable or no?

i use a cheap chinese usb cable for my gnex for data and charging, works fine
actually what i use
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/585606895/Micro_USB_Cable_charging_and_data.html
Do you think them charging me for the battery was fine though, or should I try and call back and get that reversed? Is that standard policy for the 2nd different model phone?
No big deal just curious on that one.
It's not standard policy to make you buy a battery. They gave me a free extended battery when they gave me a Rezound to replace my Bionic.
I left Verizon about 4 months ago for the GSM Google Play Nexus and Straight Talk Sim. Best decision ever. Verizon sux at life. Tell them you are going to file a complaint with the FCC next time they give you trouble, about a week later they will meet your needs.
I still use a Moto cable from my Droid X for charging and USB use. Works fine for both.
This is the 2nd upgrade though, so I don't know. I dread having to call them up if something is wrong with the GNex.

T-Mo G3 Problems? (Trying to get some D851 Specific Discussion)

So... over on the main G3 section, there's a lot of talk about several issues.
1) Phone randomly shutting down, or failing to come out of deep sleep (after overnight charging, for instance - but also at more random times). Often, folks are having to pop the batter to get it to come back to life.
2) Problems with using the headphone jack as an aux-output (for car or home stereo, as an example). There are glitches with the phone not realizing it's plugged into something, and glitches with the phone sending out dirty signals in between tracks (pops, crackles, etc), and with a buzz or hum in one side or another.
3) Problems with the phone becoming exceptionally warm. All phones get warm, but some users are reporting that their phones become extremely uncomfortable to hold, and simultaneously begin to have hardware problems (phone just dying completely, or screen flicker).
4) Those who have purchased multiple phones have reported issues with screen variances (some screens will appear warmer or cooler, more blue or more yellow), even with phones that were purchased from the same store on the same day. Some have reported needing to get a replacement phone and noticing this.
I'm curious about getting some discussion going here. Have any of you here had these problems with your D851 (T-mobile) G3's? have you had any major problems with your devices, or needed to get a replacement? Why? It seems like many of the problems are with the D855s, but I'm curious how many are truly affecting our D851s.
Thanks for the feedback!
TL/DR: What big problems have you had on T-Mo G3? Needed a replacement? Thnx!
My first G3 I bought on launch day from the t mobile store had overheating and rapid battery killing issues even after resets and doing everything from scratch. I swapped that one out yesterday and the second one I got was running good but then I ran into the headphone jax bug where it doesn't recognize the headphones being plugged in and after about 4 or 5 resets and wipes it finally starting working.... Right now I am debating if I should just get another G3 or what because the next one might have something else wrong lol.. I go to t mobile today so hopefully everything will go well.
Only one of those I've experienced is the problems with the aux jack
My G3 is perfect to the point I even recommend it to my girlfriend who ended up paying cash for one... Well with hers it wouldn't wake up from a deep sleep while charging and needed a battery pull. I'm definitely going to keep eye on that.
Haven't had any of the issues with mine. Although I just got it yesterday. It worked fine with headphones but haven't tried plugging into my truck yet.
Aux worked fine in my truck..
The only issue I have is the aux in my car. I turn on Bluetooth so I can still play music in my car. I'm ok but lg should definitely fix this.

Hopefully won't get scolded because I already mentioned it in another thread... :/
- My first G3, an AT&T had an issue where knock on didnt work most of the time. Returned it and went to T-Mobile.
- My current T-Mobile version has display issues. Screen has an overall yellowish tint and has been getting worse by the day. The top right corner of my screen just started getting more discolored as well. My brightness is abnormal... it looks as if it goes to 150%, lol. Too bright even on 0%.
Went back to the store, after comparing my phone to the demo models and the salesmen's personal phones, mine was determined as defective. Was going to exchange and they went back to get one phone after another - all 3 that they opened had worse screens than mine. They think they may have gotten a bad batch and advised me to come back in a week when they hopefully get a shipment from a different batch. I dont feel like waiting a week and gambling again, so im going to return it for a full refund. Going to get an AT&T version and unlock it for T-Mobile.
Quick update to what I posted earlier... I went back to t-mobile to replace my 2nd G3 due to Aux port not working and they gave me a new one and I have to say that this is the best one i got screen wise. OMG its beautiful.... colors are balanced, temp of the screen is near perfect not to cold not to warm, sharpness yes its still crazy high but it doesn't have the blurry looking effect with text and certain apps and everything else seems to be working like it should be. Hopefully the 3rd device is going to be the charm if not then idk lol...

Did you buy your device outright? I'm just switching to Tmobile, ordered my G3 online. And for now, I used their equipment payment plan. I'm gonna wait and see how bad the network is in my area. If I go for it, I'll be paying it off straight away. Just curious how Tmobile is about replacing devices that are defective. Are they pretty on top of it?
Or should I invest in some kind insurance? (actual insurance... uggghhh... or the Jump program (also doesn't appeal, but as flaky as these things have been, I'm worried))

Yea I bought the device outright because I sold my S5 and I don't use jump since I switch phones a lot. As for insurance and defective devices I use Tmobile's just without jump and they are pretty good with swapping bad devices. My M8 had a network/sim issues they literally sent 5 M8's because the issue wasn't going away but they made sure the problem was fix lol. Even my S5 screen went bad and they had me a replacement device the next day... so I can't really say anything negative about there warranty/insurance polices. Even with the G3 they replaced the device as soon as i showed something was wrong with a brand new one in box
My opinion

Well.... Ive had my g3 since wednesday and yes the headphone jack works but this thing refuses to enter deepsledp for some reason...and im noticing some almost grayish lines behind text when I'm reading a webpage or text
@Eldartho well i would say get it replaced. I did notice the lines with one of the display units in the store. LG is very hit or miss with the displays on the G3.... My current replacment is saturated like my s5 out the box but my last one was dull like z2/z1 so the displays are going to be a raffle on getting the right one. As for the deepsleep that sounded like the problem my first device had and it would always stay hot and drain extremely fast

I guess I'm either the luckiest guy in the world when it comes to getting phones, or just not anal retentive enough. I've never had to return a phone due to the issues that people post on XDA. I guess I'm just really lucky.

You are lucky, lol. Last 3 phones I bought from T-Mobile (M8, S5, G3) have all had to be exchanged due to hardware issues. Beginning to think they build the T-Mobile phones with bottom of the box parts, haha. To be fair though, I first bought the AT&T G3 and returned because Knock On wasn't working.
I bought mine off of swappa from a beta winner and it is perfect. Same with my s5. I am lucky x2 it seems
Sent from my LG-D851 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Is anyone else having issues with pressing the settings icon in the notification pull down?
I keep trying to press the top right gear but nothing seems to be happening.
Is there some setting I'm missing or it just not suppose to work that way?
Thanks
Has anybody else had "Cell Standby" high on the list of battery drain?
I have issues with the keyboard reverting back to the stock keyboard even though I was using Swype. I had to freeze the stock one to stop this. I also have some apps logging out occasionally.
Had the headphone jack issue ... Went to the store to exchange n it worked all of a sudden ....bought bluetooth headphone just in case lol got the LG tone pros

It was a good run HTC

My phone just shut off at 19% as I was plugging in the charger. No orange light while plugged in. I've tried multiple cords/charging blocks. Holding the power button does nothing. Guess it's time to move on from HTC and Verizon.

Just plug it in and leave it plugged in. Something similar happened to me about two weeks ago while streaming over BT at work in freezing temperatures. I just left the phone plugged in for an hour or two and it booted up again just fine.
P.S. : I got myself a Pixel 2XL last week. I'm still using the 10 more as a daily driver for work (I'm in construction and the 10 is solid), but the 2XL is my phone for nights and weekends and I love it! Plus Google will keep their update promises. HTC has not been able to over the last few years even though it was part of what they promoted.
I still have love for HTC though, and I hope they get their act together

Looks like it's back from the dead. I was able to finally boot up into download mode. Once there, I booted into the bootloader mode and rebooted into recovery. Then rebooted system and bam...back into my phone. Hopefully it'll last 2 more month lol.
have you identified what was the issue with your phone? What cause it?
I hear ya....just sold my HTC 10, only to have 3 days later to be contacted by the buyer that the charge port is garbage all of the sudden. I contact support, they swear they will contact me in 24-48hrs to work and resolve the issue. 5 days later now...nothing.
I already bought and moved to a OnePlus 5T. Way better phone than any HTC I've owned, or they make now. Seems like for 5ys I've been constantly buying a phone with very marginal design and feature improvements. The 7, 8, 9, One, A9 and 10 also can't forget, the Google Nexus One...the original and why I moved from iPhone like 10yrs ago to Android. Not even going to make an effort with the U11 and saying goodbye. Nothing like HTC Dev Support here on the XDA forum for years.
Guess I have to call them and demand to get my phone fixed so I can resell it again and recoup some money and get on with my life.
Just look at all the HTC phones, as others have been saying, nothing hardly changes every year with each model..until you see it on a web page with photos...now I get it.

Good luck TS.

No idea what caused it. I do know that the battery is starting to fail.
