So.... I wrote an app... - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.threesixtydev.gtalkshare
It adds an entry to the Share menu letting you share with your google talk contacts...
I got tired of cut and pasting links out of my browser, reddit is fun, and the xda app.
It's free / no ads.
Let me know what you think
*I just published version 1.1 which uses oauth instead of user/pass. But it hasn't appeared on the market quite yet. (lags a bit)

that's not something that i personally need, but I will say thanks for making, and giving

What exactly can we share? I installed it and tried to share a picture and the app didnt appear anywhere ... any insights as to how to use it? It seems pretty straight forward but no luck.

Anything text...
gtalk uses a proprietary file transfer protocol So files are out.
Browser links, Apps from Play, Links from reddit apps (bacon reader, reddit is fun), etc

Aww ok, thanks for the quick info.

Dude. This is a great little app. I don't know how many times I'm helping someone fix their phone through Gtalk and need them to go to a thread. So I go to tapatalk share the thread to my messenger then copy and paste the text into Gtalk. This makes that so much easier. It needs access to write to Google talk which I understand. All in all great idea and it works as advertised. Thanks.

[Q] Can anyone recomend a good RSS reader?

Hi,
I've tried a number of them so far and none of them are what I want:
gReader for whatever reason deletes a post as soon as you've read it return to the list of articles it didn't do that until this version and I can't figure out how to turn that off, there's no OPML import or export and it seems to not find a single URL I feed it for any new valid feed.
I've tried others but so far none has done what I need it to do, just download feeds, and images, if associated, have links showing, be customizable in that it can be organized into folders for feeds, not take over the entire device while sycing as gReader now all of a sudden does. it's become a huge CPU hog while syncing.
Any and all suggestiosn would be most appreciated.
NewsRob is what I've been using since I got my first Android phone, sounds like it should do what you're looking for and it can sync with Google Reader as well.

Funny, just installed it. How do you import or export an OPML file using this application though?
I have looked extensively for a good rss reader. I found Newsroom to be the best out of all of them. Personal opinion, but give it a try. Its functional, pretty, and works well.

I appreciate the recommendation, only issue with Newsroom is that it doesn't have gReader support. there is a four-month tech support thread that has the devs at the trileet company saying because the back end of Newsroomis proprietary and google reader isn't, that they would lose major functionality.
If they can't support google feeds then it's just not worth it.
I think gReader works great. I was one of the people who pushed for 2 way syncing and he made it happen. As for the article disappearing after you read it and press back, it's been like that for a while. If you want to save it, mark it as unread or star it. This is exactly the same way it works in Google Reader. I add or subtract rss feeds maybe once a year so I don't care how well gReader does it. I can just wait till I get to a real computer and do it there.
I use Greed (Lite) - free in the market. It integrates nicely with google reader, has the ability to follow links, and filter read/unread. Also has widgets that can be placed on your homescreens. No importing/exporting required... just provide your google account info and it syncs all of your feeds/folders.
Its worth a try... doesnt cost anything
Been using FeedR. It does cost some money, but its a very good reader with Google Reader support. Works fast, and looks great.

I currently use gReader. The problem you're describing about articles disappearing is that the app is set on default too only show new articles. The circle icon toggles between showing new articlesand showing all articles. Just toggle that and it will give you back your read articles. The check mark icon is to mark all articles as read. After I'm done skipping through the articles I don't want too read, I mark off all the remaining articles as read so it doesn't show up anymore
ive been using pulse and feedr. and so far. feedr seems to be the best one ive tried

[Q] Best Google Docs App?

What is the best google docs editing app in your opinions?
im currently using GDocs and it works good although i wish the UI was better.
any suggestions?
I know ThinkFree office supports google docs, never tried it.... you should check it out.

It would be nice to have a program that actually allows you to edit Google Docs from the site rather than download them, change stuff, and upload them, or worse like GDocs does, just links you to them and opens up your browser. I have bookmarks if I want links! Useless apps, seriously.
I don't know if ThinkFree office seamlessly integrates with Google Docs or not, but it would be nice.
Have you guys tried going to Google Docs on the phone's browser? They updated the site a few months ago to allow on-phone editing...
Documents to go is supposed to have excellent Google Docs support. I just can't bring myself to pay that much for it. Wish the trial supported it but that feature is locked. I don't need a full featured office app on my phone or I might consider purchasing.
Same thing with Quick Office, but I haven't heard if that one is good or not.
Google is well aware that we want an Android editor for Docs.
But until then I'm stuck using GDocs, which isn't very good, or stable.

Uploading files

Is it possible to upload files straight from phone to site? If so explain how please, tried advanced options for ' quick reply', but couldn't get past choose file screen. I have two leaked Galaxy S 2 lwp that are pretty cool. Windmills and beach that change with time of day and weather.

Try using dropbox that's how I do it at least. It will let you upload pretty much whatever. You can get it in the market free!

I agree, Dropbox is great. I've been thinking of upgrading to a paid account when I get a little more money saved (I just went on an app buying/dev donation spree, so definitely over my online quota right now). I just found out the hard way that there's a 10 gig/day bandwidth limit for public links, but it's definitely a great site.
If you're talking about on xda, I haven't found a way to do it yet. Even with the user agent set to desktop, it won't work. I think this is because it doesn't integrate Android file explorers. You can always use Dropbox or another hosting site and link others to the file. With Dropbox, I just use the mobile app. Once you've uploaded whatever you want to share to your "Public" folder, long press the item, choose share, and then "copy a link". This will result in a direct download, which I prefer over other sites.
If you want extra space, sign up with my referral here:

EDIT: First link was wrong, so I fixed it. I believe you have to install Dropbox as well to get the extra space.
Thanks for your help...uploaded both live wp in the Themes and Apps section.

Kindle for Android mods

I love my kindle for Android! Being able to make notes and highlight is awesome. I read in the dark with the fonts white and the backgroud darkend...my wife is not disturbed in bed anymore with reading lights. Lately, the weather has chilled a bit here in SoFla so I like reading on the pool patio in the dark. Thanks to calibre, I can take all my .pdf books and convert them to .mobi...but...
My problem is:
I read from two devices (for example: Dell Sreak 5 and Toshiba Thrive and work with .mobi files on the laptop. So I've got two Androids and a pc that I switch back and forth. The laptop is NOT very important because I doen't read w/ it. Just proof files w/ it. As you are likely aware, I cannot sync my notes, etc accross the devices.
I see two problems. I want my Kindle for Android app to refer to a cloud (like dropbox) for books.
...and I want it to store the notes, highlights, etc there too. Or at least sync them to the cloud location.
I figured out how to get the app to sync with the cloud in a rudimentary way. I used foldersync from the market to sync the ../kindle on my local to the ../kindle in my dropbox. This does not have an effect on notes, etc. They do note sync.
From what I know, the Kindle app writes these notes and marks to a text file on the device. I believe that syncing this file to the cloud wont work because it will simple overwrite the older file. It cannot update the actual file contents so I think I require that the Kindle app write notes directly to the cloud. Now I understand this would require I have an internet connection at all times for this to work. I can live with that unless someone can come up with a better idea.
I do not want to break any forum rules so how do I go about getting this done? I am, of course refering to hiring a Kindle Geek to possibly modify the Kindle app for my purposes.
I am not sure if it does notes, but if you use Amazon Calibre plugin to add the amazon id (ASIN) to your .mobi files. I know that furthest page read and bookmarks sync across all of your devices/apps.
I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for but it may still be helpful.

Could you elaborate on this? Point me towards a 'How to...' Section somewhere. Im interested.
This belongs under questions, not development.

Just update metadata after installing amazon plugin. I'm mobile right now+ will try to find a howto when I get home.
Essentially it finds amazon asin and sets book type to ebok

My apologies if I posted improperly. Since I directed my request to the developers, I figured it belonged here.
Lemmee 'splain were i'm at right now. I stumbled on repligo for .pdf's and wow! It does more than I wanted on the android platform. It integrates with dropbox so the master is easily kept on the dropbox folder and annotations are all kept within the .pdf itself.
My only complaint is there is no dictionary feature for words within the doc and saving is not automatic. You have to push the save periodically or when your done. I had to get used to dropbox cuz it was saving on the cache folder on my sd and changes did not migrate. You must make sure you are working from the cloud version and not your cached version, although I believe that is easily fixed if that did happen.
This option is ok for me, however, I am looking for a more simple scenario. I do not want to set my wife up with this because she doesnt get into the details that much. She just wants a kindle experience with annotations on both of her devices for ebooks that are not on amazon server.
For the moment though, this repligo app has rich features that make this experience wonderful. For me!

too bad i have to upload them before i can view it. Why cant they just let us view pdf's/books from my phone.
This is a great addition, thanks for the heads up
In case it hasn't been noted by anyone yet, you can add PDF files to your library straight from Drive.

This way you don't have to copy the exact same file to all devices. This approach makes more sense to me actually.
may i know how bout the user located outside u.s . how they can upload the epub or pdf file to play books.

Use this link on a browser to upload files to Google Books: https://play.google.com/books/uploads
FYI
For your information, you can upload the books via VPN to the upload books area, and they will still be synched to devices, even without VPN .
I just tested to connect to play store via UK, and it worked (my N4 then uses my mobile connection in HK, and they synched fine)
Hope that helps

How will I do if I should upload a pdf to Google Play Books outside of US?

Also, I don't want to complain, mate, but the answer to your question is litteraly one post above yours... Really could take the time to read a little?
