too bad i have to upload them before i can view it. Why cant they just let us view pdf's/books from my phone.

This is a great addition, thanks for the heads up

In case it hasn't been noted by anyone yet, you can add PDF files to your library straight from Drive.

This way you don't have to copy the exact same file to all devices. This approach makes more sense to me actually.

may i know how bout the user located outside u.s . how they can upload the epub or pdf file to play books.

Use this link on a browser to upload files to Google Books: https://play.google.com/books/uploads

FYI
For your information, you can upload the books via VPN to the upload books area, and they will still be synched to devices, even without VPN .
I just tested to connect to play store via UK, and it worked (my N4 then uses my mobile connection in HK, and they synched fine)
Hope that helps

Upload outside of US
How will I do if I should upload a pdf to Google Play Books outside of US?

Use a VPN to connect to US or UK. UK worked for me.
Also, I don't want to complain, mate, but the answer to your question is litteraly one post above yours... Really could take the time to read a little?

Try using dropbox that's how I do it at least. It will let you upload pretty much whatever. You can get it in the market free!

I agree, Dropbox is great. I've been thinking of upgrading to a paid account when I get a little more money saved (I just went on an app buying/dev donation spree, so definitely over my online quota right now). I just found out the hard way that there's a 10 gig/day bandwidth limit for public links, but it's definitely a great site.
If you're talking about on xda, I haven't found a way to do it yet. Even with the user agent set to desktop, it won't work. I think this is because it doesn't integrate Android file explorers. You can always use Dropbox or another hosting site and link others to the file. With Dropbox, I just use the mobile app. Once you've uploaded whatever you want to share to your "Public" folder, long press the item, choose share, and then "copy a link". This will result in a direct download, which I prefer over other sites.
If you want extra space, sign up with my referral here:
http://db.tt/7wtj3Nc
EDIT: First link was wrong, so I fixed it. I believe you have to install Dropbox as well to get the extra space.
Thanks for your help...uploaded both live wp in the Themes and Apps section.

don't know dude, I just liked the app so thought of sharing it...btw I found the app in xperia x10 forums
you have to be part of the beta before the app offers you the beta services.
Sign up on music.google.com
but you have to be in the USA...unless you...erm...use a proxy...or vpn... but I am not telling you to do that
It might take several weeks before you get your invite though.

I signed up to the beta and registered via a vpn but have been using it recently through my normal UK IP. It seems to be working pretty nicely so far
I signed up for the Beta the same day it was annouced/offered and didn't get my invite until June 2, so don't give up yet.
How is this one different than the android market version?
Im guessing for those outside the US, but thought I'd ask.

Got it two weeks ago, uploaded almost 15.000 songs and mixes already. Pretty awesome, songs play almost instantly and completely load over 3g in like 10/15 seconds.
Can confirm you only need a USA IP for actually signing in and agreeing to music manager then installing the app.
After that your normal IP will work with it.
Currently uploading my tunes to it, and working well
Loads quickly via 3G as well, quite handy having access to your library from anywhere.
I don't think you need a USA IP at all. I requested an invitation with a Google Account where the country was set to "UK" and received one weeks ago. I sign into music.google.com using the same account in the UK and have no issues.
YMMV.
I am still trying to find out how I can let Google Music download the Offline content to my external_sd card instead of the internal.
Where is google storing those music files now? Any idea.
Was anybody able to set a song as a ringtone that has been put as offline content?

[APP] [NEWS] Google Drive on HOX - Now Available! :D

Just unlocked my HOX and saw that their was an update notification.
It was Google Drive!!!
Apparently, the Docs app has been updated to Google Drive.
Still exploring. More to follow.
Update 1: You get 5 gigs of storage space to begin with.
Update 2: It is ICS optimized (no annoying 3 dots). Why the Docs app wasn't optimized becomes clear now.
Update 3: The app is a bit rough around the edges. Stuttery scrolling and some low-res graphics.
Update 4: Drive supports upto 30 different file formats. Some (like PSDs) cannot be previewed by the app but can be in the web version.

Simple - Docs. That's my primary office suite. And I'm sure it will have a lot of other (free or otherwise) goodies to offer as well. Basically the ability to sync with all of Goog's services.
Also, Collaborative editing - A boon for people like me.
Support for 30 different types of file in the browser – including Photoshop and Illustrator files
Upto 16TB of purchasable space
It could go on and on... ;-)

Not to get off topic, but I will probably be getting Google Drive, as I do use Google docs quite extensively when working with teams. Looks pretty cool!
You mention that only 30 types of files are "compatible" with Google Drive. Do you mean that only 30 file types are viewable, or only up-loadable?
Look at http://www.google.com/policies/terms/ in "Your contents and our Services"

Hello here its works great
Just to clarify: It doesn't roll out automatically, it is an updated version of the Google Docs app. If you have Docs installed, it will be replaced by Drive. If you don't have Docs, you'll need to install Drive manually.

The reason why you have a "Google Drive" app is because it was just an app update to Google Docs.
The apps update automatically, but people (myself included) are still waiting for Drive to get "turned on" for our accounts.

Tell me about it. I'm interested to see the integration vs. Dropbox, because honestly I have 9.25gb of free Dropbox storage and it integrates with OSX and Android perfectly, so it really needs to be good for me to check it out.

I can tell you right now that the integration is nowhere near the level of Dropbox. I was disappointed.
Although the price per GB if you pay for it is a lot better than Dropbox.

Tbh they're both about the same integration, just a couple of things missing here and there from GDrive.
Personally I prefer GDrive purely because of how you can create, edit and share documents, as well as use it as an online storage service. You can't use Dropbox to edit documents. If Google gets around to integrating some of their other services into GDrive then it can really take off.
At the end of the day, it's been less than 24 hours since the birth of GDrive. Give it time to settle and mature.

With dropbox, I can share a link very easily. Not so with Google Drive. There is no integration with context menus in Windows, and there is no Mac or Linux client. I am aware it is new, but what I said is still pretty true.

My drive activated about 30 mins after I installed it. Haven't tested it fully yet, but it is somewhat limited from initial impression. Also, it is a Google app so it needs some time to mature. I thought everybody knew that we are perpetual beta testers by now.

Aww ok, thanks for the quick info.
Dude. This is a great little app. I don't know how many times I'm helping someone fix their phone through Gtalk and need them to go to a thread. So I go to tapatalk share the thread to my messenger then copy and paste the text into Gtalk. This makes that so much easier. It needs access to write to Google talk which I understand. All in all great idea and it works as advertised. Thanks.
