Transfer Txt Messages - HTC One X

Hi,
Just got a One X and I want to transfer my txt messages from my old Desire HD to the One X...
The Transfer app will only transfer contacts and nothing else.
I know there are some backup apps that do this, are there any other ways to do this?

Just use SMS Backup & Restore
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
Just install it on both devices, backup the messages, copy the backup over and then restore them on the new phone.
It's really easy so you might aswell just do it this way.

Hiya Lee
Had the same problem and couldn't find a easy way to do it without too much faffing about, I ended using SMS Backup + by Jan Berkel (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync&hl=en) and backing up the messages on my old desire and then restoring them on the one X. Not the quickest way to do it but it does have the benefit of letting you have a copy of your txts in your gmail for searching through etc..
(note the app does seem to take a while to restore initially for some reason)

Or you can install SMS Go and do a backup Same thing~

I can vouch for SMS backup and restore. Very useful app for constantly changing rooms like I used to without sg2! Then upload to dropbox for even safer keeping ;-)

Pretty much what i do but once i have the messages on the device i just tell titanium backup to backup the sms database.

OK - thanks guys...
I'll do it that way.

My previous DHD was running ARHD 7.0.3 so I used the back up facility in Sense 3.6. Then I copied the file from the sd card (in sms_backup) and placed it in a folder called sms_backup on the sd card of my HOX and then pressed the menu button in the text message app and selected Back up SMS and then select Restore SMS... Select the listed backup and wait....
It was really simple and worked flawlessly

[Q] Restoring messages?

Hey,
Today at my first time, I Installed ROM and Kernal and Radio and all this essential crap.
Before I started, I went to HTC Sync software on my PC, and backed up all my files, Calender, People and thou..
But I guess I didn't notice that the SMS messages are not included on the backup list.
So now with my new ROM, when I synced back the files from the HTC Sync, it only bringed me back the Calender, People.. but not the messages,
Witch is pretty important for me, I had alot of important SMSs which I wish to restore.
When I installed the ROM I went through all the steps on the guide including the Wipe thing that I understood it is something backup?
Also I used the google's sync all the time,
Is there any option to get my SMSs from there?
Thank you very much,
Yarden.
As far as I know HTC Sync and Google Sync no backup messages.
You should have previously backup you messages with (for example) Titanium Backup.
If you haven`t Nanodroid Backup previous rom - you can`t restore you messages.
I don't love you..
oh crap. stupid ROM..
and what about the applications?
I see that they also gone,
Can they be restored?
No, apps can`t restore.
Before flash everything, I advise do backup all with TB, nanodroid backup and then flash all that you need.
These actions will help you keep all the data and, if anything, to restore everything as it was.
Good luck.

If you downloaded them through the marketplace they'll automatically download and install when you sign in with your google account on your phone.
sromer, titanium backup does not wipe messages. To backup messages use sms backup+ which is free. If you have a nandroid backup, restore that, backup messages and do your rom thing again.

SMS Backup & Restore would also be a good choice
MyBackup has successfully restored sms, mms etc. for me 10+ times now. definitely worth using. great program!
If you want constant backups I use gosms and only use it yo schedule backups every day at 6, then all is good, but I'm going to start backing up on every text I get

What + How do you backup before a full wipe?

Hey,
I've been on holiday and the new version of ARHD is out, but requires (well, recommends) a full wipe, but I'll take that recommendation considering how long it's been since a full wipe and my phone could probably do with it.
So my question is really, what should I backup before a full wipe, and how?
I've got app apks + data with titanium backup, and seo's sense3 sms can backup and restore texts (also I get them saved to gmail), but what else?
Thanks
reply
Hello,
use the Titanium Backup app and back up all user applications with data and system data.
With this method you back up everything, what you can move to the new rom.
Best regards,
Herold
Also, you can "nandroid backup" from clockwork recovery just in case rom flashing fails.
Edit: which is not the case really with arhd. Only themes flashed wrong got me into bootloops

i usually do "adb pull /data/app C:/random_folder" and "adb pull /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf C:/random_folder/wpa_supplicant.conf". This copies all of your apps and your wifi networks to your harddrive.
Titanium backup, apps and data only, manual everything else

any suggestions..??????????
I have got many apps including...........F secure.......
thanks in advance...........
This was also something I wondered about before I rooted.
First, if you are connected to your gmail account, all of your contacts, emails, sms, phone log etc will be synced by Google (backed up). Even better, if you are connected to htc sense, it will save all of your WiFi passwords!
Second, you won't be able to take backup of your apps and data without root, although Android market will try to restore every app that you have downloaded from it (still without data). Remember I said try, because it doesn't always work. Therefore I recommend that you use an app called "app list backup" by pun software
to make a list of them.
Third, make a note of all your home screen elements and where they are placed.
Fourth, download bookmark sort & backup by happydroid a to make a backup of your bookmarks.
That's about it, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Backup, but not the usual way

I got issue a week ago where almost every app randomly crashes on my phone. It is Desire running CyanogenMod, with app2sd (including data). I tried upgrading CM, restoring stuff from nandroid backup, and changing SD cards, but the problem always comes back.
So I want to wipe everything clean and install system on fresh device.
However, I also want to keep my contacts, text messages, call history and stuff like that. How can I do it without using nandroid (which would also transfer my old problems)?
I use sms backup+ for sms and Call history. Are your contacts not google contacts?
Not all of them are google contacts. I'd also like to keep some other settings from other apps...
When you restore SMSes with SMS backup+, does the stock android message app still see the correct dates of text messages, or are they one big mess cause all the dates are reset to restore date?
Basically, I want to backup everything that does not have a chance of transfering the error form the old systme.
Do you think full system Titanium Backup would do it? Does it only backup app settings and saved data, or whole apps?

Backup app data & messages

Hi everyone,
I was wondering how you can backup your app data from your device, and also transfer it to another Android/HTC device.
HTC has HTC Sync, but it doesn't backup messages, app data etc from your device.
Now I was wondering, how you can do it, without rooting your device.
Is there an official Google or HTC way to do that?

If its not rooted you can use smsbackup : https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS56ZWdvZ2dsZXMuc21zc3luYyJd to backup ur smses to ur gmail account and restore it again. about data i dont think there is a way
Thx for your help. This is quite annoying if you're going to get a new phone

you can use Titenium backup for backup your spp data.
In HTC Sense 3.0 you can make backups from menu - Backup messages on Message App.
Try TitaniumBackup for preserve your contents. Or use an alternative app sms form market.
Be careful most of these backup programs do not backup MMS messages. I found Sprite Backup the only one to do all SMS, MMS including pictures.

WhatsApp restoring issues

Hi, I rooted my phone yesterday and now I'm trying to put back all apps, but I have a small big issue
I have a msgstore.db.crypt7 file on my PC with all my old messages. When I switched from an M7 to M8, I used that to restore my messages and it worked. Now for some reason, WA won't restore my backup. I have the file in the Databases folder, it just does nothing. Also, if I try to back up the conversations I have now (a grand total of 2 messages xD) and I re-install WA, I get to restrore them :|
Basically, old backup (I have 3, none works) doesn't work, new ones do. Why?
I have the same problem. Moving to sd card made no change.
