[Q] Questions regarding software update& keyboard - HTC One X

I'm a new owner of an HTC One X and I really like the new device but have a couple of questions.
I have an unlocked HTC One X (I think its an Asian version) using it on ATT
Software update: currently im on version 1.26.708.2 and ive read that there is a new version put out. Ive tried doing the software update on my device but it tells me there is no new update. Do I need to connect the phone to my PC and update that way?
Keyboard: I hate the arrow keys at the bottom of the screen during messaging and emails. Ive tired editing the keyboard but I cant find the option to remove the arrows...
Sorry if these are noob questions but im Noob to android and a super noob to HTC Sense.

Try 3rd program keyboard like smart keyboard pro or Swiftkey X

yea I was gonna do that next, I kinda like the ICS keyboard but just didnt like the arrows...
Any information on my software version? Is there something I missing to download the latest software?

[Q] Chinese Keyboard gone in .62

I always used the Chinese Keyboard on my play, don't know why, I didn't type Chinese or anyting, I just liked it more than the International Keyboard.
Recently I flashed the newest .62 firmware and have found the Chinese Keyboard is gone...... Luckily (I thought) I had a back-up of it in Titanium, so, I reinstalled it, and BAM! Forced close every 2 seconds
My question is this, has anyone found a way, or know a way, to get it back?
If not, can anyone suggest any good keyboards from the market I can try, as I really don;t like the International Keyboard, my thumbs are hitting the wrong buttons, even when using the 12 button keypad thing
Thanx in advance
Hhmmm, over 80 views and no replies not looking good
do you mean chinese keyboard was typing in English? I did not know that and always froze it actually. What exactly was different on it?

[Q] How do i install official new keyboards to my GS3?

I got the new JB update and i am loving it! Now, if i remember correctly with the JB update you can install 20 different custom keyboards one of them being the US PC keyboard. I keep looking in Language and Input. But i don't see an advanced button anywhere!
Since this is sprint did they remove this feature? If so i'll be mildly sad as i hopped over to sprint just so that the OS wouldn't be gutted that much (and their awesome unlimited data).
Am i missing something?

Question about one x update (and alittle rant ? )

Hi ,
first excuse the grammar and spelling - i'm from norway so it might be alittle wrong.
I just wanted to ask ( alot of technically good ppl in here ) if there is a way to revert back the last update for my one x ?
i mean, i guess it is possible if i "work around" the original software but it is 3 months old so not sure i want to risk it.
(had a tp 1, tp2, hd2 before that i bought "used" so it wasnt so serious if i bricked them )
not sure what i had before - think it was 4.3 ?
I now got android 4.1.1 and sense 4+ - BUT :
i REALLY dont like the "shortcut settings" and where i have to go to adjust diffrent things - that was changed.
got more bugs -
alot more BLOATware -
the "phone keyboard" when typing sms is worse ( want to have the arrows in bottom ),
the new color scheme is "not so distinct to see" ( turquish over green when "selecting" items , new sms/phone call alert etc )
got some sync problems with win xp and outlook
the mode selector when connecting it to pc is gone ( liked the "charge, disk drive, HTC sync " )
still there is more to "put the finger on" but the basic functionalty I (and i guess alot more people too) need in a phone is
1, good call quality
2, good sms typing
3, good calendar sync with outlook
i guess you can say that i "don't need the HOX" but always liked htc and a fast phones.
But after the last update i really consider selling the one x and go back to my good old TP2
i would really apriciate some good advice here guys, and thanks for a good forum
You can re enable keyboard arrows in settings.
I like the blue.
Bloatware comes from your carrier, not HTCs fault.
You probably had 4.0.3 before the upgrade.
You can't go back to ICS.
What bugs are you speaking of?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
There is no way without unlocking bootloader.
If you are planning to sell it anyways just unlock bootloader and install an ics rom. That way you get the arrows in keyboard and all the other stuff.

thank you - i found the arrow settings, was so "angry" i guess i didn't see straight
the bloatware i talk bout ( maybe i misunderstood the term bloatware ) but example is alot more "integrated" stuff like "flickr, facebook, dropbox, etc - google play music ( still have the old "music" though" but they added play music ) stuff like that.
My carrier doesnt add anything specific from them.
i guess you are right - 4.0.3 sounds familiar
bugs : wallpaper on home screen tends to disappear when i lock the screen and press power button to get it on ,
hard to explain the sync bug- i will try to get a better "overview on it" .
thank you for help

[Q] i got some questions about the UX 4.0 and more

i dont know if this is the right place or the general forum is ,but...
1.does the phone have silent mode? with lolipop silent mode was kind of canceled at stock android smartphones and you could only put the phone on vibrate, but the manufacturer UI still had it...
2.thats kind of stupid one but...one of the things i like about sense is the dialer it does not rotating at all! only when in car mode,so in UX 4.0 does the dialer rotate?
3.one of the features i like about touchwiz is that when you watch a video you can see it while it floats around,i know lg got qslide but i dont know if thats one of the options.
4.what apps coming with the phone and can you remove them?
5.did any of you tried greenify ? why do i ask ,well i tried to use it with samsung devices (actually s2,s4.s4 lte-a,s5 all not rooted) and it seemed like greenify didnt get along with them some why...(keyboard didnt work well, talkback didnt stop working, sms app failure and more)
6.do the camera have burst mode like sense? its not a must have feature but its a nice to have...
7.what are the sort categories on the gallery and on the music player?
8. its not a direct question about the UI but still, som one posted on the general furom that he got an update to his lg g4 i did search on google and found nothing about it,so my question is where can i find update list/changelog/or any thing that is connected to software updates...
9.do the headphone plugin on the bottom is comfortable?
keep in mind few things ,i am coming from HTC Desire so...its a huge step forward, i have bad to good english so i am sorry for the spelling mistakes and those question came from playing with other people smartphones

I will try to answer a few of these.
1.does the phone have silent mode? with lolipop silent mode was kind of canceled at stock android smartphones and you could only put the phone on vibrate, but the manufacturer UI still had it...
It does not have silent out of the box, not sure if that can be changed once root access is found, but straight out the box, only way to mute sound is to have it connected to a bluetooth device
2.thats kind of stupid one but...one of the things i like about sense is the dialer it does not rotating at all! only when in car mode,so in UX 4.0 does the dialer rotate?
It rotates whenever you turn the phone on its side, unless you lock the screen in place
3.one of the features i like about touchwiz is that when you watch a video you can see it while it floats around,i know lg got qslide but i dont know if thats one of the options.
You are able to watch videos in Q SLide, its a small window that floats
4.what apps coming with the phone and can you remove them?
I was given the International Version, so as for what apps come on it, depends on which variant you get, whether its ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile, so on. But I can say with experience, that ATT comes with tons of bloatware.
5.did any of you tried greenify ? why do i ask ,well i tried to use it with samsung devices (actually s2,s4.s4 lte-a,s5 all not rooted) and it seemed like greenify didnt get along with them some why...(keyboard didnt work well, talkback didnt stop working, sms app failure and more)
Have not tried Greenify
6.do the camera have burst mode like sense? its not a must have feature but its a nice to have...
The camera does have burst mode, just have to hold down the camera button, and it will burst until you take your finger off
7.what are the sort categories on the gallery and on the music player?
Havent really messed with this enough to notice
8. its not a direct question about the UI but still, som one posted on the general furom that he got an update to his lg g4 i did search on google and found nothing about it,so my question is where can i find update list/changelog/or any thing that is connected to software updates...
There have been no updates rolled out for the G4 as far as I know, unless you are not in the states, then I do not know
9.do the headphone plugin on the bottom is comfortable?
Its like having the plug on the top, you wont notice it any differently
Hope this helps some

first of all thank you for your time and answer ,now follow up questions.. =)

1.sinse i have HTC Desire running GB 2.3 i can not test it out but...i heard that there are alot of widgets offering to add silent mode to lolipop is it right?
It rotates whenever you turn the phone on its side, unless you lock the screen in place
2.ho well i guess i can live with this...
You are able to watch videos in Q SLide, its a small window that floats
3.Yay.
I was given the International Version, so as for what apps come on it, depends on which variant you get, whether its ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile, so on. But I can say with experience, that ATT comes with tons of bloatware.
4.i will get that unlocked international version,i saw some where that mcfee come with it so..,anything else and can i remove mcfee?
Have not tried Greenify
5.you should try it does wonders to the battery life, if you do try it some when let me know(you dont need root for it)
The camera does have burst mode, just have to hold down the camera button, and it will burst until you take your finger off
6.Yay.
Havent really messed with this enough to notice
7.actually the most important thing to me at the music player is folder category and that you slide your finger to move to the next song or previous ,so does the lg g4 have that?
There have been no updates rolled out for the G4 as far as I know, unless you are not in the states, then I do not know
8. this is what makes it weird some one on the general furom posted he got an update ,thats why i wanted to know where i can see upcoming updates or changelogs
Its like having the plug on the top, you wont notice it any differently
9.i can imagin you are probbly right, you can get used to anything.

Htc one m7 keyboard on the m9

I would like to know how can i get the m7 keyboard on my m9? Tbh i like the keyboard on the m7 a lot more.
Which keyboard do you mean - the build-in HTC Sense Input?
I'm skeptical about the possibility of bringing the old keyboard from a phone two generations back (and an earlier version of Sense), but perhaps you can try grabbing the APK and installing it on the M9.
Yes, the htc sense input on the m7
How do i grab the apk of the keyboard?
