I hope this isnt a re-post
I am curious as to what device if you were to switch would you be switching to?Seeing as Sprint is moving in the direction of LTE very fast starting with the launch of its first 2 devices coming this weekend the Galaxy Nexus and the LG Viper, who is ready for the switch?
Evo 4g LTE?- Definitley an interest for me
Galaxy Nex?
LG Viper?
Galaxy S3?
Samsung Note?
iPhone 5?
Just wanted some thoughts thank you
I'm going to stay with what I have until LTE becomes available in my market I think. If I switch to an LTE phone that means I have to go back to 3G until LTE arrives here. No thanks.

this.
the lte upgrade will take a while to reach significant amounts of people, and wimax will be supported for another year at least.
i'll be sticking with my e4gt for some time, dev'ing is still growing, phone is a beast.
i never buy phone on release date, wait for in-depth reviews of HW, and wait to see what kind of dev interest follows. 3 months at least.
(that being said, most likely an htc or samsung...)
Well I'm giving the Gnex a whirl & if I like it, gonna hold onto it till the GS3 comes. I had my eye on the Note too but if it ships with anything less then ICS, I'll pass. I thought about the EVO LTE but any form of Sense is now a deal breaker for me. At least Samsung's TW is not so in your face like Sense is.
Half of those phones you mentioned are downgrades from SGS2 and others arent even out yet. When i upgrade i prefer to jump at least one generation so i will be rocking this phone for a while. Also lte is not a reality yet and the city im moving to in several months is not mentioned at all on the initial rollout. I am personally excited to see the roms for this phone after ics is released to public and the source comes out. Those next few months will be awesome and keep me satisfied until 2013 i bet.

Im staying right here for at least a year and a half. Lte wont hit my region for at least 10-14 months and my WiMax speeds are freaking awesome. So I am very pleased with my ET4G.

Most likely staying put until SG3 comes out but I'll give each new phone a look. LTE will not factor into my decision as it's unlikely I'll see it in my area for a few years yet.

I wished I had your patience, Lol.
Sprints lte he will not be deployed in my area until the end of the year. So it looks like my next upgrade most likely will be the galaxy s3, Or maybe even a windows 8 phone.
That being said I love this phone so that might not happen for a long time.

im only basing this off of my inside info ( which isnt much prob lees than most of you) but it appears we will be supporting wimax in the new roll out of LTE as for what I understand is sprint will now be a tri-band network wimx 2.5ghz LTE 1.9ghz and 800mhz voice ( eventually 800mhz LTE) so I am pretty sure we will still have our support for long after a year or so( dont quote me thou i mean this is Sprint we are talking about lol)
wimax will be supported till at least 2015 which means one two year upgrade cycle. long enough for all of us to enjoy wimax if we have it and for others to enjoy network vision and lte asvit expands.
Sgs3
My next phone will be the new iPhone later this year unless Google wows me with the new nexus hardware. I am sick of dealing with slow and unpredictable updates. Even the nexus s didn't receive ics on sprint until a couple of weeks ago.

I will be considering the SGSIII. If it knocks my socks off I'll buy it and sell my E4GT. WiMax is only available in tiny little pockets around San Diego (and its unofficial), so the LTE rollout isn't holding me back as I don't use 4G anyways. If the SGSIII doesn't do it for me I'll be using this phone until 9/15/2013 then see how things look, both from a device and carrier perspective.

On my old phone the best roms and themes came out of the woodwork after all the mainstream devs jumped ship. With so many of these being sold we will likely see some great things by the end of the year. People are still drooling over this phone when they see it. Today I was in a busy lunch spot for guys in suits and while in line then eating as I played with my baby I saw them all stealing glances at her as they glared at their iphones in disgust.

And for the record I will not be getting rid of this ET4G as I have learned so much from it and this community it now has centimental value to me, that i havent yet had with other phones(go ahead laugh i was while writing it ) but yea the touch has inspired me to learn new things and take my time learning.
For me, its coming down to the GSIII or the next iPhone. The nerd in me is enticed by the iPhone, but im sure ill be getting the GSIII.

I'm an original at&t iPhone guy who switched to Verizon about a year ago when the android finally started making me drool over its superior look, feel and operation.
The fact that its open source and has far better customization, sold me in a heartbeat. I started with a Samsung fascinate and was sorely dissapointed. The phone always had bugs and never ran properly. Even after a much awaited froyo update.
I traded my fascinate on craigslist for my dinc about 4 months ago and was very impressed not only with the lack of bugs and lagginess but also at the development that has occurred. The devs for this phone are freakin awesome!!! Thanks guys!!
Now I see dual core processors and larger screens taking over the android market as well as an upcoming iPhone 5 that, I'm sure will live up to the apple name.
My question is simple. Should I keep my dinc until its done, should I upgrade to a newer android device or should I cross back to the dark side and have apple tell me what's good for me once again? Hmmmmmmm.....

I'm keeping my Dinc until it's upgrade time (beginning of Jan 2012), and if there is no suitable replacement (for my tastes) then I have no problems sticking with the Dinc. It's a great phone and will still be a great phone in 6 months from now.
As for switching to iPhone, that's a matter of preference. I'm a Mac user that prefers Android over iOS because iOS doesn't have the flexibility and functionality that Android does. I do think that iOS can be prettier and more polished in some ways, but the functionality of an Android phone is worth more than the eye candy of iOS.
I would say the only worthy upgrade seems to be the SGS2(if it has lte) or the Nexus 4G/htc verzion that are rumored for this fall/winter.

HTC Nexus on Verizon *drooool*
I did a long hard search and honestly there is nothing better than the DINC right now.
The Droid incredible 2 I still wouldn't take just because of the lack of development.
I'd be surprised if Verizon would allow a stock phone without bloatware all over the damn place.. I'd love if I was wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if it was still a sprint phone. Saw an article about how sprint is now going to be removing bloatware or making it uninstallable. Pretty respectable move IMO, but I can't see Verizon following suit.
actually the nexus 4g lte is rumored to go to At&t with their new 4g lte network not verizons and sprint sort of exagerates "lies" the removal of bloatware because you can only remove 5 or so apps

The only consolation is that we still have one of the best phones out there.
I have incredible faith (heh heh) in our devs. Seeing as the inc2 has just been rooted and we have the 2 big boys, cm7 and Miui already available for the device, i believe ill be accidentally taking a shower with my Dinc in my pocket in the next few weeks.

What's next is called the Thunderbolt. It's got a screen bright enough to read, battery life... well, anything has batter battery life than a dInc, absolutely stupid-fast 4G, a stupid-fast CPU that EASILY clocks up to 1.6GHz, and a screen big enough for a keyboard. I lived with the dInc for a long time, longer than any other phone I've ever had. I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone can say with a straight face that the original dInc isn't bested yet. There is literally nothing that the dInc does as well, let alone better, than either the Thunderbolt or the dInc2.

Verizon gets a small incentive from the companies of the bloatware, that's why they put them on there. and i don't think verizon will ever get a nexus bone stock android phone, i really don't, here is why. Verizon isn't really out there for the consumer, they are out there for the profit. hence why, i mean at t-mobile and ATT, if you want a new phone, no problem, walk into the store, and get one at the upgrade price....in the middle of your contract.
Verizon hasn't gotten the idea of that just yet. plus like other companies, verizon does have shareholders to report to (and they aren't happy, they think the data plan changes will ruin their investment)
the only reason i have verizon is because that's the only carrier here with decent coverege, and they really aren't as bad as people make them out to be.

maybe because we have devs who already got it to gingerbread? and with that logic everyone in this country on the roads should be driving brand new 2012 model year cars, right now. people are happy with what they have and they make it better. not everyone has 500+ dollars to spend on a new phone everytime they come out.

really? there isn't much difference, gingerbread as i said above, is already on various roms for the dinc. the main selling point for the t-bolt right now is that it's a 4g CAPABLE phone. if you are not in a 4g area, you will get 3g coverege. my area won't get 4g until a few years from now. and no, i don't live in "podunk nebraska" i live in a town of about 48,500+ people.

Guess what? I had a dInc2 to play with for a week and I still have my Tbolt and I'm about to kernel up my old dInc, so yeah, I've got a hell of a lot more clue than pretty much everyone on this thread as to what I'm talking about. My dInc has been running GB for quite a while now. So has my Bolt. The dInc2 did EVERYTHING faster than the original, running bone stock firmware!
I'm not gonna make excuses for the Bolt. The firmware for that phone, and a good number of the leaks have been lousy. But, the more recent leaks have yielded absolutely bullet-proof, flowing-water smooth ROMs. The question was "What's next?". That big plate of glass next to me IS what's next. There is no question about it. It's not opinion. As for 4G, when towns like Fostoria, OH pop up with LTE, I'm thinking very broad coverage on this side of the Mississippi is clearly coming.... well before my contract is up. Hell! Even 3G is faster on the dInc2 and Tbolt, if for no other reason than they have the power to render things quicker. I'm glad people are happy with what they have. The dInc was, and still is, a solid, modern phone more capable than many devices to come after it. Too bad it looks pretty dated in light of Tbolts and dInc2's and several other phones. When I read someone write something like "I keep looking and I don't see anything that measures up to the dInc", I'm wondering how much crack they smoke. You're either insane, on drugs, or oblivious to reality to think that.

Wow man way to be a total ****. I have an incredible and my brother has a Tbolt, I can honestly say I prefer mine over it.
Besides that, although the Tbolt and INC2 *are* upgrades from the INC- for most people they just aren't worth someone's 2-year contract or full retail to get that sort of an upgrade. You've been out of the INC scene for a while it looks like.. and DEV's here are still putting out loads of stuff every day increasing performance/battery life/features -- moreso than INC2 or Thunderbolt since they've been out a shorter time. The INC2 even has issues now where if you buy it and it comes with GB, you can't even root it.
4G is extremely scarce, if you drive out 5 miles from whatever city you're in then you're out of luck as far as 4G goes. 4G is nowhere in my state yet, not even in our capitol (Richmond) and it looks like it'll be at least a year, probably more until we get it. The 3G, at least where I'm at, is fantastically good. I get 320kb/s on a good day and low 200's/kb/s during peak hours. That's enough to stream Colbert report, download movies (I've downloaded 4 so far) and watch netflix without pauses or hiccups.
So.. even if there WAS 4G in my area there really isn't any need that I get it since I don't normally watch HD movies on a ~4" screen or tether it to a datacenter.
Your opinion and mine.. but you don't need to flaunt around your phone while downing the INC (on our own forums) which is a perfectly awesome phone.
So Samsung has announced a new processor in their Exynos line. Seems as though they are releasing this new processor by the end of this year. Here's the link. http://phandroid.com/2011/09/29/samsung-introduces-new-1-5ghz-exynos-4212-dual-core-processor/
The question is, will this be the processor which is will be in the Nexus Prime in relation to an OMAP processor and how powerful is this SOB gonna be given the 1.2 model in the E4GT is an absolute monster as it is? Second, how overclocked do you think this new processor is or will it have unlocked overclocking potential. This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life because I am in absolute love with my E4GT but I've decided to return it and give it a month for the dust to settle. There is a heated spec war just over the horizon.
Nice find.
But what does this and all the other threads about "future phones" have to do with the E4GT? I know its comparing processors but there is an overall general forum for general talk like that.
SO sick of hearing about new stuff thats not even gonna be out for like half a year or later. I just want to enjoy the nice phone I just got. All this speculation and OOH and AHHs are just preventing people from wanting to get this phone and wait til the next big thing and makes us take a hit on development.
If you keep waiting til the next big thing you might as well wait forever because you can only have the baddest phone on the block for 4 months tops anyway and something better will be out.
Sorry for the rant.

Good thing you ask, seems as though Samsung and Google announced the date they will be announcing the Nexus Prime today. That will be on October the 11th. Won't be long, less then 2 weeks from now before we can put all these rumors to rest. Don't get me wrong, trust me, I'm a more hardcore E4GT lover than you can imagine. Here's the link to the upcoming announcement within 2 weeks http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/0...-expected-on-on-october-11th-droid-prime-too/
It's basically a EG4T with NFC, possibly LTE with Sprints upcoming network expansion, a 720 p qHD specialty screen with about a third more pixels per square inch and the new model processor. Oh, and possibly at 4.65 inches. These are the rumors circulating and the more I watch the more evidence that's popping up about the screen and the processor. Samsung just happens to announce a their new 1.5 ghz Exynos processor 2 weeks before the Primes announcement? All this with rumors suggesting the OMAP processors have been behind in production?

If the Nexus line holds true to its trends, it will probably be a Verizon phone for some months before they release it to other carriers like they have done with T-mobile in the past. I would like to get my hands on a nexus phone for development sakes only. They always have a ton of support and constant updates. But whos to say that phone wont have a fluke bug in it either. every phone that comes out seems to have some bugs that can get ironed out and some that cant.
So far I have experienced zero major bugs with my device and has been the best release of a phone that I have gotten my hands on ever, and ive owned 5 in the last 2 years. I even switched from T-mobile to Sprint for coverage reasons in my area and dont see myself paying $$$ for Verizon and its LTE when it will never be in my area or get the 4G signal indoors. Especially if sprint is announcing the switch over to LTE. Boohoo if my phone wont be compatible, I will have a new upgrade by the time i see any of that in my area.

All good points I agree and am in the same boat. I think sprint will get the prime. I find it suspicious they didn't advertise the EG4T. It was almost like they felt bad. We'll know in 2 weeks.

Here is my unrequest opinion.
It is a hardware race. Will the screen, processor, and battery life be better in the prime/galaxy s2 HD? Yes.
Will some of us go speed a large amount of money as a result? Yes, and I am not excluding myself.
But again, it is just a hardware race. Is there anything out there now, or in a year that will even challenge our phones? No, not a chance. This phone is truly a 2 year phone. I am sure of that.
Do we need a HD screen? No...the screen on this phone is awesome. Actually the hd screen on the prime and galaxy hd will have a pentil matrix...making the pixel density closer to that of our phones then one might think.
Overall...the new exynos will be better. But who the hell is going to notice. I am willing to bet, that besides benchmarks, our phone will do everything just as smooth as the new exynos. Honestly...the samsung created hardware in our phone is that good.
Hopefully, I am right...and not incorrect like I as with the evo3d. I thought the evo3d would be as smooth as any phone...but this phone just made me eat my words. I love it
I'm going to have to fight the urge to get the prime! Going from evo3d to photon to epic is less then two months is just too much already. I think I have a phone problem

Samsung is showing off Optimus Prime's long lost brother. I hope Megatron doesn't crash the party.
Just an FYI, this SOC won't be in a Sprint phone till late spring, early summer of next year, so the only 1.5GHz phones we(Sprint) will see are going to be based on the Qualcomm chip for now, which I expect at least 1 or 2 to phones by Christmas(mostly HTC tho)

Why do you think that?
Did you get this phone Calkulin?
So I'm thinking of getting this phone with my soon-to-expire premier program upgrade (especially since it looks like we wont see galaxy nexus before the end of december), and I want to be sure this thing will stay satisfying for two years.
Primarily, I want to avoid issues the epic 4g has: limited (although what there is is extremely dedicated) dev support and lack of cm/miui that keeps the phone stuck at outdated os iterations (which is mostly sammy's fault anyway).
What im asking is, is this phone a dev darling and do they promise to love it for ever, even after samsung abandons it in 8 months?

There is no such thing on the market. Once this phone stops getting Android updates, the community will have no choice but to dump it for the next newest. It'll probably be able to drive your car, have sex with your wife, and make banana pancakes. How will you be able to coerce a developer away from such a dream phone when all you have to offer him/her is a beat up old 2011 E4GT to work on? You just have to let nature take it's course. Buy the phone for what it does now or always ask that same question: "Should I wait for the next one or get this one now?"
which ROM makes Banana Pancakes?
Mine only makes Buttermilk.....
Premier program upgrade expires 12/31/12 you have a good year and two months to make a decision.

Your Premier upgrade doesn't expire in December. You have all of 2012 to use it.
If you were thinking you could have gotten one additional 11-12mo upgrade cycle, that would have needed to be done by 10/1/2011.
When it comes to electronics, nothing is future proof!
The SGS2 is a great phone today and while it might not be the top of the line in a few months it will still be able to handle it's own.
There is one thing I am jealous of with the Galaxy Nexus, and that is the HD screen. If the SGS2 would have had an HD screen, it would be right up there with the GN. I do not count ICS because the SGS2 will eventually get it. If the GN only had a qhd screen I don't think I would care as much....Seems almost like qhd screens didn't stay around as the top dog for to long. Guess the lower end devices will be going qhd while top end goes 720p to compete.
The point is well taken that there's no such thing as a future-proofe phone. I should have qualified that I am asking if this phone appears likely to enjoy EVO or HD2-like developer love. I was spoiled with cm-support on the G1 and I want to recapture those possbilities with my next phone.
I was on the phone with Sprint for an hour and a half talking about my upgrade status and they repeatedly told me it would expire on Dec 31, 2011. I guess I'll call again and ask again. I don't know what to trust anymore. If I get another year I'll be extatic.

The program itself ends 12/31/11 but you have until the end of next year to use your upgrade.
Just called Sprint to confirm my upgrade won't expire! Thanks so much for the heads-up, my XDA brothers XD

I had to fight Sprint to get my last upgrade but they relented and gave it to me so now it's either ET4G or Galaxy Nexus if or whenever they get it.

Add ICS and a 720P screen to our SGS2 and you have yourself a phone that is equal to or better then the GN. We will get ICS whether it be official or not, so that will really even the playing field. So our phone is future proof until you start seeing quad core phones come out and well as Sprint LTE phones. But I would say you are good for at least the next year to year and half with the SGS2.
When the specs for the SGS3 get dropped, I am betting that will be a game changer and Samsungs flagship phone, not the Nexus.

IMO, dual core SOCs and 1GB RAM are the major milestone for smartphones. Quad cores will improve benchmarks, but probably not much else. Cutting edge OS is what's important to me now, which the GN covers nicely

Not quite. We don't have NFC or a barometer, either. The lack of NFC means we can't use Google Wallet or Beam... ever, and the barometer means slower GPS locks and we can't use any other aps that take advantage of it.
I don't quite understand why Sprint had Samsung remove the NFC chip... it's the only GS2 variant that doesn't have one, and aside from LTE, that's the newest feature everyone is jumping on lately.
This phone will have a lot of life in it, but it's not future proof.
The nexus has a cheap pentile display. Go with the epic touch you won't regret it. And it has a sa+ display!

I really enjoyed the support out there for my EVO 4G, and was a little disappointed at the lack of options out there right now for my shiney new E4GT (not complaining, stating a fact, back off flamers)
However, read through the forums for the other variations of the SGS2 and you can see it's out there for them. I just think Sprints baby is a little late to the party, but is going to get it's fair share of cake. Read through some of the Developer posts and there is news popping up fairly regularly about test builds of CM7 and MIUI...
I am getting closer and closer to getting this. I just know a week after I do the galaxy nexus will be announced for sprint.

I'll be honest, this is my first android phone (epic touch 4g), but I have been tinkering with anything that draws power since I was a little guy ripping apart old stereo receivers and what not! Sure, something with some more bang is bound to come out in the next few months or so; but in my opinion, a device with the capabilities exhibited by this phone are not going to be overlooked anytime soon! Some people may dump the phone and grab whatever is better on the market at that time, but dev is not going to halt for this phone anytime soon as far as I can tell. Even before getting this phone I've done lots of research on android phones and spoken to friends that have owned such, and this is phone definitely marks a milestone in my opinion. Sure it has its bugs, I get LoS once a week or so; but despite its flaws (which will be resolved by the manufacturer or else!) it is a great phone and will serve any user well for YEARS! Hell, I had a Blackberry 8330 for a few years, wasn't anything special by any means at all but with some TLC and mods it was a great phone for as long as I had it. The ET4G should last a Looooooong time...
Edit: I also wanted to say, to those who were saying things about the Galaxy Nexus coming out for Sprint. Sure you may be able to the phone with Sprint in the very near future, but is it not quite similar to the ET4G? Really I guess it depends on preference and such. From what I've read and heard, though...the phones are not THAT much different so I guess whatever feel you like best is what you should get! Cheers!
so my upgrade is due in about a month for my og evo and was thinking about this phone because i played with it in a sprint store and really liked it except for the touchwiz part... so just wondering if there are any sense roms on this phone or if its even possible... i know there was one for the nexus s 4g. if not, no big deal because i'll probably be running ics anyway but just curious haha
there are no sense roms for this. and being a longtime user of HTC, I thought I would miss sense as well.
did not. not one bit. I actually prefer TW at this point, far closer to aosp, in most ways, cleaner.
of course there are sense "themes" for alternate launchers you could use, if you really needed it...
and with ICS around the corner, well we'll have CM9, AOKP, MIUI4... plenty of better options than Anything sense based.
and again, frankly, still like running stock ROMs on this phone. after all the crap I heard about how "bad" TW is/was, I expected to change it quick. but TBH I can't understand what they were talking about. clean. responsive, light on resources (compared to sense)... to each his own though, right?
alright thanks haha. its just after 2 years sense has kinda made a place for itself in my heart so idk haha. btw any news on the sgsIII? i heard a few rumors but figured this forum would know more about it like any news on a release date or a definite shape or look of the phone for sprint? don't want to buy a device and have it already be outdated like 2 months later haha

LOL, i know what you mean. I gave up on that race. I ended up hesitating on everything, because of reading rumor of "the newest thing, right around the corner". I am just committed to buying a new device every year, find something awesome, run it into the ground. ;-)
and this phone is AWESOME. seriously. fast as ****, brilliant screen, SO much internal storage and RAM, I can't make this phone fail.

There is usually never a point to wait but this time there is a case to wait. Sprint well be starting to sell lte phones around midyear that will support their new lte network. Being this close to that there is no reason to grab a Wimax phone.

tbh i would wait for an lte phone at this point. this phone is 6 months old now and if the og evo is still kicking i would hold out for an lte one.
I would wait too if that evo is still good..
This phone is awesome but i would wait for an LTE phone.
I wouldn't wait for LTE, Sprint is having their own issues with the rollout which was expected to be limited coverage anyhow for the first 1-2 years. 4g might be spotty but in a good area its crazy fast and its my understanding that phones wont have both 4g/wimax and lte. This means that unless you are in a lte area your new lte phone will only really have 3g and wifi. Just get the best phone out when your contract is up. I got this phone last month and believe its the best phone out right now.

Agree completely; there is no way there will be much Sprint LTE before the end of this year, and, then, it will only be in their major cities, if at all.
I would jump all over this phone ASAP, since its the best Android phone out there, bar none..and, if you look around, there are some good deals..
I'd save the upgrade and buy a gently used E4GT for $100 more. I realize there are places that offer the E4GT as an upgrade for less than $200, but that isn't an option for sero users like myself. Anyway lol, I've gone from the og Evo, to the 3vo, to the E4GT just a few days ago, and this thing is Big and Beautiful! I highly recommend switching

I came from the OG EVO 4G as well. A world of a difference and I love it! I hadn't been using Sense on my EVO for the last half a year cuz I've been using ADW anyway. There are so many good launchers out there and ICS is awesome in itself, I'm sure you won't miss Sense at all.
This phone is a ton faster than the EVO and the screen is amazing. My EVO would take a few minutes to fully start up, the S2 takes <30 sec. You will love it, I'm sure!

+1 on buying privately instead of upgrading if possible...
In the past 4 months I have bought 3 S2's (one I just bought yesterday), all of them I paid $400 max for. And these phones were brand spanking new, still sealed in the box. If you look for a lightly used one, I'm sure you can get one for around the $300 range.
I had a fortunate situation though cuz my EVO broke on my, so Sprint replaced it with a new one. I sold that one on eBay for $260, so my out of pocket expense wasn't too bad. I love not being under contract, plus it leaves you the option should the Sprint network change and something totally awesome comes out and you wanna be locked in again.
Yo massacre id recommed the et4g i came from evo too lte is having so many issues rolling out on sprint who knows when it will be ready especially now that the fcc either has or is trying to block lightsquared for the gps interference issues which is gonna do some real damage to sprint both finacially and in their ability to obtain the hardware and support they are gonna need, and with wimax continuing to be supported atleast until 2015 if you are currently in a 4g area you will be able to use it til your up for an upgrade again vs you could wait for lte and it wont be available in your area right away or not at all if lte happens as planned right now it looks like anything other than test markets are being delayed for now

Clear doesn't do lte yet, atleast not in my area they are exclusively wimax here in the Tampa bay area

I would wait for LTE too. I do second buying a used one but good luck finding an E4GT for $100, $200 is more likely. If you want Sense wait for a new HTC phone.
Sammys feel cheaper and are scratch magnets. Appearance wise, I think HTCs hold up better. I'm not a TW fan and I'm not Sense fan either. I like it simple and have used Launcherpro with Fancy Widgets for the sense style clock and the 5 day forecast. Been doing that for all my HTC, LG and Samsung phones. Since I'm now on a an ICS rom, I'm trying Nova Launcher.
The E4GT is the best phone I have owned but it is getting old and the new cycle bigger, badder and faster is about to start. Don't lock yourself into last year's phone with a wasted upgrade.

I've had my Epic since Dec of 2010. I'll probably be using it until at least Dec of 2012, perhaps even a little longer. Not a big gamer, and no LTE in my city probably ever, so not much pressing need to upgrade.
The Epic is a beast & our Dev teams are top notch.
both me and the wife since Dec '10 I will see what is available Dec '12 to see if I upgrade if nothing with keyboard doubt I will jump ship.
If the SG3 is quad core with a great camera and external SD slot, I'll upgrade, if not, probably be with the Epic for a while longer...

My phone or I will have to die before I stop using it.
I still use my Epic as a phone and a hotspot. But I do most of my stuff on my Touchpad so I guess my Epic is my secondary device, that I still support
I have 4 in my house and will be with them until the end of the year at least. I don't have my usual urge to change any more thanks to XDA and the Devs here.
still love my epic and doubt i'll be upgrading to anything anytime soon. hoping there's a hw keyboard "upgrade" in my future, but as Denver isn't on the list of LTE rollouts yet, there's no point in getting a new phone yet.
Unless I brick my phone before october, this will be my device until at least then... maybe longer if nothing worth it comes out... evo 4g lte is lookin pretty good to me right now though

Still using and loving mine. It has newer features than on all my sad friends who wait upon the carrier to upgrade their phones. I'm waiting for the liveblog of the SG3 and I'll give this to my son who'll still love it
Have my Epic since the day it came out in August 2010! I still remember standing in line (admittedly, a small line...there was one person in front of me) waiting for the Sprint store to open. Ahh, good memories.
Not going to upgrade until...well, it really depends on what gets announced in an hour. Lol. But, I'll probably hold out for the next Nexus which should be out by the end of this year, hopefully.
Had mine since the day eb13 ota'd
I was waiting for froyo before I bought the phone since my moment had 2.2 when mrwrx brought it to us in january and gave it a couple more months of life.

I have a habit of keeping phones for years after they are replaced in the market. However, I have been considering staying current these days since the technology seems to be advancing so quickly.
But, even almost two years old, this Epic still blows away many of the phones that I see friends and family toting around.
Who knows. Maybe I'll upgrade in a few months and give this one to my 4 year old. She loves it!
