Does anyone know the answer. I am curious if I buy a newer used Vivow to replace my older more used Vivow, will it have 1.04 and can you downgrade?

I just got this phone a week ago
I used the you tube links and downgraded in a hour. Check out the videos on you tube.

Swyped From My MikRunny'd Superphone Using TapaTalk 2

I kept getting same error. I messed with it for bout 3 hours before I got it. I got tired of trying. Went to a family members house different comp. Worked like charm first time. The comp I was trying on is the one I rooted my first inc2. It has everything already set up and wouldn't work. Try different comp

Just got my Dinc2 and I was about to downgrade hboot, root, and flash Condemned CM7 in about 30 minutes.

Help Upgrade 3.26 to 3.29

i originally go the phone with 3.30 something and i forgot which method was it, but i downgraded to 3.26 i guess. i always kept getting notifications about the OTA to 3.29 but ignored them and tried using Unrevoked 3.21 but it said something Triumph and since then my 4G doesn't work, i get like PCS number invalid, check username/password(something like dat) i tried using i think 1.17 PC36IMG but i get Main Version Older or soemthing, Update Failed. anyone got any ideas. i got my Evo about 5 days ago.
wow u need some help. what method did you use to root? how far did you get in that method? how much farther do you want to go? 4g not working might actually be permanent, but that is only a maybe. us talented almost-devs/helpers at the xda will have you back on your feet in no time.
also, pc or mac? hardware version? hboot version? etc.

i have a Win7 64-bit, i got 2.02 hboot? i tried rooting but never got it. used simple root 1.47 snd got to 3.26 somehow. used to get updates to upgrade to 3.29 then i tried unrevoked 3 and bam. thats where im at now. noww if i could only get 4g to work and get root, id be happy lol
I have heard many times that it is very bad to run unrevoked on a hboot 2.02 phone. Try running an ruu to get back to 3.30, and then follow one of the hboot 2.02 guides out there

Setting up Evo for fastboot

I am wanting to get Fastboot commands working on my Evo, Currently when I try a command they do not work. I read that I need a different H-Boot for fastboot to run correctly on my phone. So searching I found the correct H-Boot, but it seems my partitions are wrong for the H-Boot. Here is what my set up is...
CM7
Hardware 0003
H-Boot 2.10.0001 S-OFF via Unrevoked
Baseband 2.15.000.11.19
PRI 1.90_003
Software 3.70.651.1
When I run "cat /proc/mtd" in shell I am 00040000 for erasesize
Is there a work around I can do? I found a way to fool H-Boot into thinking its .76 BUT it says NOT to use the method if I have new partitions, erasesize 00040000, which I have
Could I RUU to a earlier software, then apply the .76 H-Boot, or will my 0003 hardware cause conflicts? So much dev for the Evo, but so many restrictions on what you can and cant do, depending on hardware, h-boot, baseband, its crazy! lol If it is possible please give as much info as you can. I dont want to get even more confused on what I can and cant do to get fastboot up and running
Thanks
If you've fooled HBOOT, kudos to you. But the latest HBOOT isn't downgradable, and if you RUU on your current software, it'd take you back to stock blah blah, but I think on the current HBOOT. I don't have all the answers, but I think you may be stuck on this one...

No, I havent fooled it. I found a thread on how to, but not with my partitions sizes, I have the 40k partitions. So that being said I can not as of yet downgrade my H-Boot to ENG .76 I thought to myself, I am still S-OFF so I should be able to flash simple splash screen, nope!
c:\android-sdk\tools>fastboot flash splash1 evosplash1.rgb565
sending 'splash1' (750 KB)...

Seems I cant do that because of the way I rooted, Unrevoked. I had the HTC Hero a while back and that phone was so easy to mess with. Then I played with a Intercept, trash! I got a LG Optimus S, another phone that is a PIA! Now I got my dream phone, been wanting a Evo since it cam out, 2 months after I got my Hero, grrrrrrrr Anyway, now that I have a Evo I cant do as I was able to do with my Hero. I thought because it was HTC it would be the same. The other 2 phones not being HTC was the problem, lol. I guess these phone companies are doing more and more to try and lock the end user out of rooting the device. Sucks for us who want to be flashing this or that, in any method we choose.
Now that I am done ranting, lol It looks like most of the stuff i want to do can be done via PC36IMG.zip's. Flashing recoveries, flashing splash screens, radios, all that junk. Is there a good thread explaining how to create these zip's and what they can and cant be used for?
Thanks

My replacement evo came with 3.70, hw003, hboot 2.10, 2000 erasesize and I still downgraded my hboot to .76. It's the newer block sizes and hw004 that have problems downgrading.

There's a thread on Android Central HERE that explains how to make a flashable PC36IMG.zip splash screen. i assume the process for any other PC36IMG.zip is similar.

You could try and theoretically it "could" work but I can't say for sure because there haven't been much reports of the 40k sized 003hw's having success with it.

I see, so theoretically it could also brick me. I am within my 30 days, and have a dead pixel. Thing is they know I root my phones, they were checking out my wifes LG Optimus S with 2.3 and were really interested on how to root. One of the reps wants to root his Evo but is scared due to all the versions and what not. Cant say I blame him, but you think working for sprint they can easily get a replacement phone, no?
Has anyone had success with hardware 0003 and NEW partitions (40,000 block size), or have anyone bricked while trying?
Thanks for input

My girl got her Evo in December. It's an 003 model but I'm not sure about the partition size as that is news to me. I rooted with whatever version of Unrevoked was out at the time, and simply grabbed the .76 hboot from Toast's part 2 thread and flashed it. It worked without any issue.....in this case. After I did that, I read that a lot of people were having trouble downgrading to the engineering SPL and were bricking, and I breathed a heavy sigh of relief that it didn't happen to me and my girl's 4 hour old Evo. lol
Come to think about it, I don't even know why I did it to her phone. I always experiment with my own phone before flashing anything new on hers, so in retrospect, downgrading to that hboot in her phone just for fastboot commands was a risk not worth taking.

Incredible 2 (vivow) with hboot .98?

So I just got a droid incredible 2 and was planning to run revolutionary on it to get S-OFF and root it. I tried to get started but apparently I have HBOOT .98 rather than the supported .97.
Does anyone know if the latest OTA is to blame for this or something about new dinc2's?
Is there a way to downgrade HBOOTs?
No, you cannot downgrade, not without root anyway, which you cannot get since it's not supported yet (see here). No clue when it will be, and I doubt anyone else does either
Didn't this forum already go through this once already before the GB root was available? Feels like deja vu
Wow, that was quick... Verizon must've already had a batch of new Dinc2's already updated and shipped before they did the OTA update a few days ago... .98 Hboot is what is coming in the latest OTA updates.
Looking like a new wave of XtcClip buyers again till the Devs can achieve S-Off again for the .98 Hboot.
So not knowing anything about HBOOT, besides the version, I know the Desire S is supported on HBOOT version .98.
Are these completely different or the same across all HTC phones?
I don't know if it has been confirmed that HTC clip supports .98 hboot either. but hopefully it works!
Will the HBOOT .98 ever be unlocked? I just got the INC2 and it automatically installed when I left the house for a few minutes!!!! Is it possible someone will unlock this?? I got the phone mainly so I can OC it and put on custom roms, WTF!! (

Ill be getting my inc 2 tomorrow (replacement for inc 1) and it wouldn't surprise me if I'm stuck in the same dilemma. Disappointing but ill have to wait because my inc 1 isn't functioning anyway.
Looking forward to the battery life though anyway. I had to go to aosp for better battery life with dinc 1 anyway.

DInc II arrived on Friday.
I got soo lucky when I pushed customer service to give me an early upgrade.
It cost a total of $99.99 billed in Oct.
I worked real hard at rooting it, and come Monday I see it payed off.
I'm sure that it is only a matter of time that devs will discover, test, test and distribute the magic that they are soo good at.
I tried to donate to them but PayPal or AMEX was not an option and it has been so long that I looked at a money order that I don't think it would be worth the $0.60 USD + a postage stamp to mess with it.
Does any one know of a NORMAL way to donate to AlphaRevX or Revolutionary?
I plan on trying to get another DInc II in January (if it is still around).
me too
+1 stuck with S-ON and the 0.98.0000 HBOOT from OTA...
FYI
I just sent my Dinc2 in for warranty and the replacement has Hboot .97
now that XTC clips (everyone) are now unlimited, from beta to actual unlimited clips, so should try to find one.
Im pretty sure alpharev is working on s off for our 98 hboot they where asking for just that hboot or a link to the ota.... Pretty good sign

Workaround for 2.3.4?
Apologies if this post outs me as a total noob, but I'm only a week into my budding love affair with the DInc2 and Android, and I've already made one stupid misstep, as my phone came with HBOOT .97, and I foolishly took the OTA, realizing about a day later that yes, I would like to root this phone.
Being impatient, I was googling around to see if there were any solutions, when I found a link to a guide to unroot the Incredible 2 (which apparently I'm not allowed to link to yet). Basically, what this guide does is reflash the phone to 2.2 via an official signed update package (which should be able to be dropped on the SD card of the phone and flashed via the power/volume down method), gain temp root and manually reflash the HBOOT with .97 (via a dd command), and then upgrades (via another package to be flashed from the SD card, not OTA) to 2.3.3. At that point, I believe I could use the current version of revolutionary to gain S-Off, root the phone via the normal method, and be set to go.
Now, my question: is this going to result in a bricked device or a lot of wasted effort? Can the phone even take a signed update from the SD card without being S-Off? And will it trip me up when I try to flash to 2.2 because it's older than what's currently on the phone? Has anyone thought to try this? Waiting for Revolutionary to update is probably the smarter course of action, but I am one to push the limits of the technology around me, so unless someone out there knows that this won't work, I'll likely give it a go.
You will need to update to 2.3.3 leaked ruu to s-off anyways

S-off okay I've searched the forums and can't figure this out I've had a rooted Inc for a year now I had it unrooted for about 2 weeks before using unrevoked too root and install cwm but my hboot is set to s-on this hasn't been a problem until I tried to update cmw it won't install via hboot or rom manager. So I need to get to s off I'm running cm7 latest nightly. I see htc has unlocked the boot loader for the Inc today will this help me? And I rooted my brother's phone at the same time and his is set to s off this is why I'm confused...

Where did you see that the incredibles bootloader had beed unlocked by htc?
Unrevoked shold have given you s-off also.
What android version are you on?
What radio (baseband) version are you on.
EDIT: I see that htc has unlocked the incredibled bootloader, so yes you can just use that to get s-off.

[Q] Just Got DINC2. Need a little advice.

Just got a DINC2 replacement after 2 years with original dinc. My hope was to root and S-off ASAP. After a little searching I am not sure how to proceed. I have 0.98 bootloader with Android 2.3.4 and 5.10.605.9 software version.
I see that revolutionary does not have option for my bootloader. I also see a thread with a downgrade tool. I also saw a sticky saying not to download the bootloader.
Where do I go now with this?
Thanks.
If you have a way to get a xtc clip to get s off you will be ok. There are people that have been able to get s off with your software version but then have bootloop issues with sense roms. For some reason aosp roms are ok. There are many threads on this make sure you read up before deciding what to do. But I did read with the clip to get s off no issues with sense roms.

Thanks for the reply! This is very disappointing. I really do not want to shell out $50 on a clip. It seems all I can do otherwise is wait for an OTA or a fix.
If he's on the 5.x version he can downgrade, and then use revolutionary.

Sorry looks like yours is not the newer software so you should be able to downgrade with revolutionary. Sorry if I miss guided you. There is a lot of people with the newer version having problems.
ok so what ive read here is if the phone is
SOFTWARE version 5.10.605.9
then downgrade + revolutionary. Hboot is .98, for what it's worth.
Also, another question, if the phone is past the 1 year warrenty, is it worth while to just use the HTCDev unlocking, or does this not 'fully' unlock the device to community needs?
