After a year of playing with the Hero i am now on the desire from Cellular South. i have rooted using unrEVOked and got Soff using unrEvked forever tool. im not a big fan of the CM6 and AOSP roms from the hero so i figure i wouldn't be very interested here as well so i have decided to just run my stock 2.1 rom. plus (unless i have read them wrong) most come with radio and im not really comfortable playing around with that setting.
Here are my questions.
1) i would like to use a custom kernal but it seems everything i have ran across is for GSM or have i overlooked it somehow? i cant get wireless tethering to work without it.
2) i have found a2sd already but before i go to it i want to get rid of some of this "junk" Csouth has installed. what programs can i safely remove with adb without causing problems.
3) if there are any roms that are "tweaked" 2.1 stock for the cdma could somebody be so kind as to point me to it as i cant seem to find one.
Thanks for any help y'all can offer.
Hi topic has been talk about many time before but I need help with the rooting of 2.3.4....I try following so many root thread I just cant get it..having a problem with the 2nd part of the wiki guid...been killing my self with this..if anyone can just help with quick noob question would help a lot...thnx
You're going to need to be a lot more specific. What part of step 2 are you stuck on, and what exactly is the problem (error messages, etc.).

You have a G2, you need to flash the 1.19 G2 ROM.
The Mytouch4G ROM is if you are downgrading a Mytouch 4G phone.
ok wen im on the bootlaoder window on the phone i click "bootlaoder" it does the sd card run thing...wut do i click next?? becuz it bring up another window that says hboot usb *i think* it has four choices "fastboot".."recovery"...simlock..and a img.crc or somthing like that
Make sure that the you've renamed the stock ROM to PC10IMG.zip otherwise the bootloader won't be able to find the ROM.
ok so a co-worker of mine has a Desire (CDMA nTelos) and one of his other friends tried to root it and flash custom roms. his phone works but very poorly. i need some one to point me in the right direction as to what i can flash and some info on what hboot is. i dont have a lot of time with the phone so trial and error is not a option for me. his phone is rooted and has clockwork mod and Hboot 1.06. i see lots of different roms with radios and dont want to flash the wrong one. i would like to flash the most fully updated and working rom i can.
i have lg g2x rooted running CM9 but his phone seems very different in methods used
thanks.
There are only a limited number of roms here for CDMA Desire. I think LeeDroid is one of them. Check the development section there's a pinned roms directory there. Good luck.
via xda app
Go here, then to CDMA section, there you have a few fine roms for CDMA. Plus search a little bit through the rest of the roms, a few if them are for GSM+CDMA.

Hi there,
Had a HTC One X for a while, was running ICS and Leedroid's rom. It's been really buggy for the last couple of months and I finally bit the bullet and started looking, once again, at how to upgrade etc.
Ended up reinstalling stock and then...I did the OTA to 4.1. Immediately regretted it. I've just spent the last 3 hours trying to root it! From a bit of googling it seems that it might be impossible to root it if updated OTA? I guess I have 2 questions:
1) Can I root it on JB and, if so, what the heck am I doing wrong? Constant adb errors.
2) If not, is it possible to revert back to ICS?
Please could you point me in the right direction for tutorials, if I'm being dense and missing something obvious? I'm totally frazzled by this time at night with no success!!
Thanks
Yes, you can root jb, all you need to do is unlock you bootloader via htcdev.com , flash a custom recovery and then flash the supersu.zip via recovery!
Recovery : http://db.tt/sEQHjLwu
SuperSU : http://d-h.st/B2K
No, it's not possible to return to ICS after updating to JB, many have reported that the touch isn't working...
PS: Don't forget to make a nandroid backup of your stock jb rom before rooting! You're gonna need it if you want to return to stock!

If you have already unlocked your phone once you can use the original Token htcdev sent you. If not get yourself over to htcdev.
Also if you want it easy (ie no manual fastboot commands) just use an upgrade tool. There's plenty about but I like this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
Make sure you have adb/sdk tools and htc drivers installed before begining.
As your already on Jellybean dont worry about all the cid/hboot stuff.
Put your htc token in the app folder. Put your phone in fastboot mode and plug in the usb.
Open the app and select '4' 'toolkit with all fastboot commands' on the app.
Here you'll find 'flash recovery' (9)and it will install clockworkmod.
there are loads of rooted JB roms to choose from, I use ViperX
Thank you so much - just what I needed :good:
So I just got my HTC One and I have it rooted and unlocked, but I couldn't get S-Off. I thought nothing of it and went on and flashed a few ROMs. Well I want to flash ROMs that need different kernels, so I looked up different ways to get S-Off and found SunShine. Only problem is I need to be on a stock ROM to use it, which I'm not. SO how do I get back to the Stock ROM? And please excuse me, every device I get has new things to learn about, so coming from an Xperia Z I kinda have no idea what I'm doing here. Thank you in advanced.
EDIT: So I found a ROM that works. This ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2716843 But SunShine costs $25 which I'm not willing to pay. So I guess it's S-On for me.
