[Q] whats wrong with my DHD???

My DHD is like 2 months old and I admit that it has lots of apps on it. it started to lag and I found out that turning the usb debugging on solved the problem and everything is smooth and fine but after I root it with visionary v14 it started to lag badly in sometimes and it will never return normal unless I restart and I never turn fast boot on. So then I used ADW launcher. It reduces the lag but not that much. Then at last after reading forums I found out that flashing buzz kernel is one solution so I tried it and it succeed to reach up to 1.5Ghz and solves the lag problem. Everyone in the forum said that it runs really smoothly and has no problem but for my phone, after 2 days, it freezes and restart and then just now when I was charging, it started to freeze and one way to get out of it is to pull out the battery. What is wrong with my DHD? it seems that I have one of the slowest DHD it scored only 1700 on quadrant standard at 1Ghz. please help me...
thanks in advance
anyone can help me?
Try installing osmonitor or any task manager, try to look at each process, identify which ones are busy using the cpu..
Alternatively, try turning off auto-sync..
Ive installed all of them and my auto-sync is off. when I open my osmonitor, everything is 0% except the os monitor and the android system...
thx for the reply though

Forgot to mention, i read somewhere that the sd card can sometimes cause lags.. i dunno.. for me, i had it last time when i use stock sense.. turning usb debugging on reduces the lag, but it still there.. now i just use cm7, smooth as a butter..

it could be the undervolt in the buzz kernel that's causing the instability and reboots .... it did for me btw i have over 500 apps on my phone and it runs fine (apart from sence fc'ing if i try to use my phione too soon after boot) lol

Hmm, disadvantages? I've seen almost none apart from certain apps not gingerbread friendly, eg: need for speed shift.. Other than that, it's just a plain new android system, and not clutter over fancy ui such as sense.
You can try reading the step-by-step tutorial in the android developement thread. There are currently 3 (i guess) different compilation of cm7, but still the same none the less..
I love the one in my signature, u can try to check it out.. happy flashing..

CM9 RC1 in action[Video]

It was requested so I offered and made a video showing boot up, and general usage in the newly released CM9 RC1. It is running the stock CM9 kernel, not HONOs kernel. It is fresh, 3rd boot after flashing. It is rock stable so far with no issues since flash. If you are considering using it as a daily driver, I would say go for it!
If you have any questions about it, just ask and I will try my best to answer accordingly.
And NOW, the video

p.s. excuse the rotation, there is supposed to be a fixed one on my channel soon but Im not sure when it will pop up.
Edit: heres the rotated video.

What about battery?Better?
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda app-developers app
Battery
For me, its pretty decent. I dont constantly run 4g and usually have it disabled altogether because Im on wifi pretty much everywhere. I leave wifi on all the time and gps too. When i flashed it yesterday at approximately 2:30 pm local time, It was at 71%. I did not charge it and used it fairly minimally(around 20 mins of gaming, some wifi browsing, a handful of calls, playing with it while shooting the video, and a couple text messages) and i started charging it at 11am today with 35% left. Is it better than gingerbread? definitely. I havent tried HONOs new v4 kernel though. Of course YMMV.
oh, and btw for those wondering, I havent had any issues at all since flashing. No crashes, no force closes, and everything is smooth and buttery.
Also, if there is anyone who would like to see something specific on video, I could do another if necessary. I tried to get the basic out of the box experience into that one.
I've been using it since it came out on the 26th as well. Maybe it's a placebo effect... But it seems so much smoother and with no force closes.... But... That could also be because I did a full wipe when I installed... And I haven't done that since installing the first nightly... Bottom line... I loving it. No issues so far. Also thanks for the video.

And I agree with your sentiments exactly. No issues for me and extremely smooth. I see no reason yet why this shouldn't be daily driver ready.
oh well if you dont mind, can you do a video of web browsing, showing youtube, playing flash videos, and heavy gaming. lol i know its alot but i can either get this phone or the exhilarate, and i just wanna know if this phone is worth getting

Oh and an update on battery. I know that this is only a short term test but in the last 2.5 hours since i unplugged, i have made 1 phone call, had wifi on the whole time, and done a few texts. Im still at 100 percent. I used to be at 95 or less by now...

Slow performance and 1 core use only

Hello Guys!
I just noticed one thing on my Lu6200 that Only one core is being used. I had system tuneup pro installed and it was showing one core offline and other was working.
Secondly I installed Ski Safari game and I have that game on ipod 3 and on Galaxy Skyrocket but performance on Lu6200 is quite slow. Lagging and lose of frames.
I was wondering if someone else is having same issues. Or if someone on some other rom and not facing issues? I am using rom from chuyennho184. So far its very stable, call logs working , sms with 160 limit working. nothing bothering me just the performance....
So can anyone check and lemme know if they are having same probs?
Thanks
Is that not by design? Improve battery by shutting down a core if it's not needed?

[Q] Sprint SGS3 help

hello and thanks to anyone reading this.
Ok so I've searched what feels like a million places and finally am comming here as a last resort. I will try to be detailed in everything i have tried up to this point so sorry if this gets a little long. I hope this clears up problems on this phone for anyone else with similar issues.
So the problem is that i am experiencing major lag on this phone. Let me specify. Mostly during games, which some are unplayable. Now that being said, I have not tried many games but here are some specific ones that have had some problems:
Nova 3 (which I am unsure of compatibility due to mixed reviews), The lag makes the game unplayable, online and offline
Modern Combat 4 (lag isnt too bad but still makes the game hard to play and not fun),
Shadowgun Deadzone had a wierd blur effect which made it unplayable --- fix : I had tried chainfire which fixed it but also disabling hardware overlays fixed this issue --- this is just some background info maybe it helps maybe it doesnt.
I have even noticed some lag on vector, a non graphicaly intense 2d game.
Some lag occurs even on the home screen as well (mostly when the device is first turned on and the home pages have not been loaded into ram yet, but this still shouldn't happen).
I know this phone has a weaker graphics chip and processor than the international version, but with the adreno 225 and the snapdragon s4, this device should be able to play these games and not lag on the home screen.
specifics: power saving mode is not turned on, I have tried to disable hardware overlays and force gpu but neither did any good (execpt shadowgun listed above). I have tried rooting and installing chainfire, this didnt fix the lag. I am on stock android 4.1.1 right now (rooted).
This phone is nearly new, about 2 months old.
So I guess my next step would be to overclock? does anyone think this would help? My point was that this phone stock should not have these problems and maybe I just got a bum phone.
Ok so thats the main problem, another, I have recently experienced battery drain. With all radios off, the phone not used (in my pocket, turned off) I am experiencing about 8-10 % drain per hour. - I dont know if this is normal but if any suggestions please let me know. While in use (browsing internet) I get about 40 -50 % drain per hour.
Thanks again to anyone for reading or providing help. Any suggestions are appriciated.
After I used my S3 for a few months, maybe 3 or 4, I also began to experience great lag and choppy performance. I was disliking the bad battery and the general slowness of the ROM so I flashed another ROM. I would suggest you flash an AOSP ROM such as the M snapshot of CM10.1 and see if that runs any smoother. I noticed a huge battery life increase and a much better performance. If you still have lag issues after an AOSP ROM, you most likely have a problem not related to the ROM. If you find an increase in performance with the AOSP ROM, but you prefer Touchwiz, look for a different custom ROM that is Touchwiz based. These ROMs will likely have a smoother performance and a better battery life than stock ROMs. Also, about your battery drain issue go to Settings > battery and see what is using a lot of the percentage.

Alright thanks for the help everyone. The solution is that Gameloft did not optimize this game for this phone. So change the buil.prop, and the game runs like butter. For anyone wondering, the solution is to edit build.prop and change the:
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus --- delete watever you have and type in "Galaxy Nexus"
ro.product.brand=google --- be sure this is lower case.
Thanks again. I hope someone finds this useful
(as for battery life, I dont know whats wrong)

Where is the build.prop located? And what else might might be effected by changing it?

The build.prop is located at /system/build.prop
The only things that would might be affected (for this specific build.prop change) are other apps that read your device name / type, such as the play store
The play store would be affected in that it would show more apps possibly, and apps compatible with the nexus
I think it crosschecks your device name against other stuff too though, so dont quote me on that

Note 7 - Weird scrolling - Touchwiz - Root

Hello everybody,
This will be a long post but I will try to make it as short as possible.
I pay a great deal of attention to the scroll fluidity and smoothness. It is a vital factor for me in a android device.
Attracted by the hardware specs I fell in the trap with the S6 and the Note4. Even after rooting, custom rom and everything. It just wouldn't be fluid.
Now to be clear: I need to specify my definition of fluid.
Fluid and reactive scrolling for me is when you feel that you are almost moving a physical piece of paper behind a glass. It follows your finger seamlessly and has a physically coherent inertia.
This type of scolling is not a dream. Try for instance a brand new nexus, or better . . . . . the LG G5 ? With the governor set to (surprisingly) conservative. The scrolling is smooth like CRAZY. (Even way better than iPhone, no jokes)
Now I have the Note 7 for 14 days. If I like it I keep it, if I don't I'll send it back.
I really wanted to try the note 7 by myself.
I am incredibly surprised that there is almost ZERO stutter! Wow!
BUT because yeah there is a but: The scrolling is weird! Not natural at all. Sometimes it decelerates and re-accelerates. Doesn't always follow the touch. Bad inertia. It's just overall a good but very weird and uncomfortable experience.
I noticed that this is not always the case OO
I indeed noticed that this might be dure to some kind of process from samsung that seem to take over the scrolling.
Or it could also be simply drop frames. . . . but that would be weird since the scrolling is . . . . . smooth besides being not reactive.
So I ran GPU profiling. And indeed we're way off the charts!
Note 7:
For comparaison, LG G5:
However, as mentioned earlier, it doesn't happen all the time.
So I created a very basic app that only displays a list of images from the web to isolate the normal behavior of the Note 7: The Scrolling is so smooth, no weird behavior, no weird acceleration, nothing.
But sometimes this "process" would activate and throw the render time off the charts, and the scrolling would be weird again !!!!
I have a couple of video that showcase the difference.
Note 7: Smooth scrolling - Demo App
As mentionned some times the "process" would activate and screw with the scrolling inertia. (And cause drop frames at the same time).
Note 7: Weird behavior - Demo App
In all other apps, except my Demo App and rare exceptions, the scrolling is in weird mode.
Note 7: 9Gag for example:
For comparaison, this is 9Gag on the G5
I think rooting + custom kernel could fix the issue. Potentially with a different governor. But I cannot root my phone . . . . since I might send it back if I hear experiences that rooting doesn't help.
So my question is:
If you are a user with the same feeling about scrolling on the Note 7.
Could you please tell me if rooting + custom rom / kernel / governor helped solve it ?
Or is it still . . . . weird, and off the chart in GPU profiling ?
Rooted users, could you post pictures of GPU profiling when scrolling in FB, or any long list ?
That would help a LOT. And let me know if I want to keep the Note 7.
I currently have the G5, I love it. But I'm lurking towards the amazing screen, stylus, and gear VR of the Note 7.
Plus ironically . . . . the browsing experience on the note is just . . . incredible OO
Info: I am on the Exynos / European Version
Note: Please do not answer this post to simply tell me that this is an insignificant detail, that Touchwiz brings a lot more feature over stock android etc. . . . Yes sure, whatever. It doesn't matter, this is not the point here. Please comment only if you want to help, or discuss in a constructive way. Thank you

Custom Rom developers often put different scrolling methods in their Roms and have the option to choose which one you like. The scrolling on the N7 reminds me of this, it's seems to me they've decreased the "friction" of the scroll. I'm pleasantly surprised that the N7 has virtually no stutter, but yes I have noticed a difference in the friction of the scroll.
Haha for real you quoted my whole post ? ^_^
Could you edit, for readibility ? Thx

No idea. I'm sure Samsung are trying to eliminate lag and stutter by doing something at a kernel level.

Do you by any chance have a custom Kernel on your device ? (if you have a note 7)
If yes could you check if this "tweak" is still there ?

No, full stock.
Update:
I decided fu** my withdrawal rights. I'm going to try and root it and sell it on eBay if I don't like the result . . . . . .
AND . . . . . . it solved it Thank you sooooo much HydraKernel / HydraRom.
The GPU profiling is still off the charts when the weird "process" activates" . . . . but processor use overall in incredibly low compared to stock. Wow. And most important, eventhough weird result in profiling are still here. Scrolling is finally buttery smooth :
So I can 100% recommend HydraKernel / HydraRom.
I'm still figuring out how to get the secret mode on the browser though if anybody has an idea (as well as web-sign in): Both using iris would be awesome.
