Data - HTC One X

Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone could explain why ny device has signal, but it unable to actually connect to the internet via mobile data - can't find a setting to turn it on but I obviously kind of need it - using WiFi atm
Thanks

Which network are you using?
Go to Settings --> Mobile network -->Access point names to see if your network is listed and selected.
If it is not there, you need to get APN settings from your provider and manually enter it.

reboot the phone.
mine did this earlier today for some reason, but then i have been fiddling with it so i may have done something stupid. it just sat on 'turning on'
rebooted, and the data works fine again.

So mobile network is definitely turned on (swipe down -> settings -> mobile network = on)? Do you have G/3G/H symbol next to signal bars?
Also, is wifi off? I found that sometimes when wifi was on and could detect a network but wasn't connected, it could interfere with mobile network.

Might as well phone Orange to see if they can solve the problem. The only option is to do a factory reset in HBOOT.

Will have to do that after - just in the queue to phone orange at the moment

Oh after trying to send a text to my other number it won't do that either - despite displaying as having signal?

Just called Orange Internet
Set up another one by following the Orange instructions and that didn't work either.
Could it be that the sim hasn't activated yet? I assumed it has since it says I am connected to Orange and I have signal bars for Orange - although I can't send texts? But I can phone 150..

Just called Orange. Sim card isn't actually active yet - I assumed it was as it appears to show signal.

Changing to WiFi only Data?

When I installed my ROM, and on first boot I was given an option for when to use data.
Wifi only, or WiFi and Mobile Networks.
Now, I am going on holiday in a week and wanted to switch it to WiFi only to avoid data roaming charges.
Can anyone help, I cannot find it in the settings.
Settings > wireless and networks > mobile network.

Obviously I looked there first. There doesn't seem to be a "WiFi Only" option.
If I just deselect Data Roaming, will that essentially do what I want?
Yes, just turn off mobile network and turn on WiFi.

In the widgets > settings widgets you can choose mobile network and wifi network (as well as gps and bluetooth) screen widgets so you can toggle them on and off.... when not wanting to use mobile data, its good to have those widgets on one of your screens (as the dashboard widgets are usually missing one or another of those 4 essentials)
saves time from going into the settings repeatedly just to turn something on or off.

It is stated in the setting that it enable/disable data packet usage over mobile network. It has absolutely nothing to do with your phone call whatsoever. What makes you think that way?
Just kidding. In extreme cases, to prevent data on moblie network, one uses firewall to block access to any applications that try to access it.

All you need to do is deselect Mobile Network. Even the description says its used to connect to the internet.
a question really easy

One X thinks it is connected to WiFi when no longer in range

I've noticed of late that my One X thinks that my home WiFi is still in range, and that it's connected, even when I am not at home. To get mobile data to work I have to turn WiFi off and back on again to make it work properly.
Anyone experiencing the same?

Nah, there is an option for disconnecting the wifi if there is no good connection.
also there are wifi fixing tools in the market, switching between aps etc.
also there are tools for switching to 3G if WiFi is under some threshold.
Unfortunately you must search and test. Did my fair share of that.
Also check out that option in the settings if you have it checked.

Regardless of that setting, it should know that the Wi-Fi it was connected to is no longer there.

Okay and? Are you completely stock. And you tried already factory reset, and this happens with every AP on the latest sw ?
Then you could try to return it for repairs?

After Disconnect from WiFi no Mobile Data.

Hi everyone,
I have now my OnePlus 3 for 3 weeks and I have noticed that when I'm long in my WiFi network and than I go out of my Wifi (Disconnect). And than it don't Connect to Mobile Network for data. And yes mobile data are aktivatet, the settings shows that the Data Service is off. But this is only so when I'm long in WiFi if I'm only for 20 minutes than it Connect to Mobile Data.

No APN reset don't work. Get Disconnect from Mobile Data Service. But I see that the settings says when it is connected Network Type EDGE. But if it gets Disconnected then it says GSM
Edit: Attached ScreenShots
Go to developer options and turn on "cellular data always active". I use that on my phone and it picks up the cell signal almost instantly when out of WiFi range. I am still getting about 5 hrs SOT. ,
Okay i think this is gonna work, instand Switch to Mobile Data. And what to you mean with SOT @calbrs
Today i downloadet the system Update 3.2.2 and I think this bug is patched with this update . Actually no issues with the Mobile Data connection
EDIT: NO DONT work same issue

I have exactly the same issue with my OP3 OOS 3.2.2, no root. It is really annoying
Me too, it isn't handling the switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi very well, not sure whether it's just one way, when i get to work and connect to work Wi-Fi I've ended up having to turn off mobile data to get it to use the Wi-Fi connection.

It is two way. That's my observation. I am very disappointed from the phone which has such problems with basic thing like wi-fi connection. I think this will be my first and last OP phone!
So has anyone found a solution to this issue? What kind of flagship killer has problems with such basic functionality?
I've read on other forums that some devices have a feature called Smart Network Switch, but I can't find that anywhere.
And I really don't think it's the APN...I've modified it in all possible ways and it's still happening...not switching automatically but starts working after switching to airplane mode and back. And the "aggressive" switch option doesn't work either.
If anyone has any idea about how to fix this or how it can be further investigated, please share, it's becoming really annoying. Thanks!

I activated the Mobile Data on in the Developer Options and for me it works pretty well.
The IPv4/IPv6 solution seemed to work. I still have issues when connecting to the wireless network (company wifi, with login credentials and the whole deal) but I used to have the same issue with my Nexus 5, meaning that I have to be disconnected from the mobile data to access the wifi network's login page (forgot to mention this in my previous post). Anyway, I'm happy that I don't have to switch to airplane mode anymore Thanks everyone!

Mobile network staying on when connected to WiFi...

Hi Everyone,
I recently updated my phone and everything seems to be working fine, but I noticed after updating, that when connected to my Wi-Fi, the mobile network stays on, it does disappear. Before the update, if I was connected to Wi-Fi, the 4g LTE indicator would disappear, but now it stays on. Even when I turn off the network, it still stays active.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

I had that icon using Viper. Switch to airplane mode and it goes away. Get LTE discovery app from playstore. It will show mobile disconnected when on Wi-Fi. Look under network info
Edit: just noticed you also asked in Viper thread as well and got your answer (it's just an icon issue). Lol XDA users.
You guys are funny.
Check Developer Options. There is an option to keep data on at all times to make switching between data/wifi faster and that's what's happening to you.
It's either preset by a MOD in Viper ROM or you somehow toggled it on accidentally. Easy fix.

Actually, you are funny cuz I already checked that toggle and made sure it was off haha. It was actually an icon bug in the Viper ROM I am using. I switched the signal icons from ATT to T-Mobile and the data icon vanished when connected to WiFi.

If you mean when WiFi is on your seeing the wifi bars and mobile bars at same time that is normal. Your only using your mobile data if you are seeing 5G or LTE showing next to the mobile bars.

No in that case that wouldn't be normal. Only thing I can suggest is when your on WiFi turn off Mobile Data. I do that all time. No sense having both on when you only using one. You will still get texts and phone calls. You just won't get pics or videos through text until you turn mobile data on again.
So try that and see what happens when you turn mobile data off.

Mine used to do the same I had to uninstall visual voicemail. Not that it had any negative effect, I just didn't like both icons been displayed at once. I'm on Mint Mobile with an unlocked S20.
Usually when that happens is when you use an app that only uses data. Just like my Three app in the UK, doesn't use WiFi and you only can use it with data.
If you opened any sort of Tmobile app, force close it and put your phone into flight mode then turn flight mode off, or restart your phone.
It sometimes glitches out and doesn't go away, its really annoying.
This setting in developer options will cause this. Turn it off and your LTE/5G icon will go away when disconnected from wifi.
