For the past week and 1/2 i get error 1012 if i do a profile or prl update. I play with my radios in different area to test. So i always follow up with a profile update. So then i have to call sprint, have them refresh my phone and then it works for a short period of time. If i do a profile restore it never activates and have to call sprint.
Running synergy rc1 hw 0002
Lastest radios were flashed in fastboot and have worked before.
When i called sprint they gave me a credit if i was to go to the store and it be free of charge and id get a new phone. But i dont want to end up with 2.3 and loose root.
Also she said it no longer matter if your phone is rooted. You can bring it for service.

Did you use clockwork mod? This guy had a similar prob.
I am having this issue as well, I posted in the forum in that link.
This is odd. We can make calls on the phone, internet, text, can not update PRL, profile and it will not receive picture texts. I messed up and DID NOT make a backup of the stock ROM, as I put a new 16g SD card in it. So I dont know if I can go back to the Stock rom or not and try it all again.
I really dont want to go to Sprint and then be given a new 2.3.3 phone.
Thanks to all that have any ideas.
I have another EVO and did the same thing to it, and it works perfectly.
I had this problem, too. The only thing that fixed it for me was a full wipe using ##786#. You will need the MSL code to do this. If you don't have it and you are rooted, you can get MSL reader from the market. If you are not rooted, then you need to call Sprint and sweet talk them into giving it to you. Back up all your apps/user date with Titanium (or whatever you use) before attempting this because it WILL wipe everything from your phone.
i use amon recovery. wiped my whole phone and reinstalled the rom, even flashed others with no go. Downgraded radio = nothing, upgraded again = nothing
I have had lots of problems getting my Data to work on my EVO running on the Boost Mobile Network(A.K.A. Sprint). Still continue not to have Data on it. I assumed it was PRL Version, but was incorrect. Well, I would get the same Error Code. I managed to update PRL manually using the link below.

Still NO DATA on my HTC EVO 4G!
Still get calls & text messages, but no internet!
I got a refurb phone a couple days ago, and they were having provisioning problems then when trying to update it at store. Perhaps it's still occurring?
UPDATE:
I took it to the store yesterday. When I went to go pick it up i noticed a scuff mark on the bottom left along with the screen lifting. Went back today to get my refurb only for this one have the whole bottom lift and fiber in the rear camera and the lense. Back to the store I go and hopefully I get a new one.
UPDATE: given another refurb. This one is perfect, no issues. no more errors. also its hardware version 0002. Weird. The other was 0004. So about $37 at the store. when i called sprint I received a $50 credit along with the $37 I spent on the phone. New phone plus credit = a happy customer.

I have been working on my HTC EVO phone for several days trying to get my number transferred and the phone activated. I have done a factory reset called customer service, tried rooting it, everything. I got the MSL code from the previous service providers, luckily, and reset the meid imsi and everything. Finally I came across this post and it was a life saver. You providing the ##786# was what i needed to totally clear everything. It is finally activated. Thank you so much it worked!!

Hello everyone, I did a little searching and yet to find a problem or resolution similar to mines. I am not new to flashing. Everything normally ran smooth on previous phones that I did. My final product after the flash is the issue.
Flashed phone is an Evo 4g. One prior owner, a close friend who bought it new from the Sprint store. Not going into the technical details( assuming everyone knows the process). But my donor phone this time was the incognito.
Problems: I have no idea what could of happened. When I call out the number shows as private on any phone that I call. I try calling the phone, it goes to voice mail. I call out pressing *82 to see if my number appears but I always get a "Welcome to Verizon wireless, your mobile number is not active or invalid" . When I press 611 it goes to the Sprint Carrier. Sms don't work but internet does. Any guidance would be appreciated. Anyway in which I can restart from the beginning without rerooting? Or a way to bring the original esn back, I could take it from there also.
-Thanks

What rom are you using? Have you tried to update your profile and prl?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Yeah, sounds like you have a Verizon prl or you are roaming, try updating it.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Or, a Sprint PRL with enabled roaming.
Don't have the phone with me but a basic recovery rom (forgot the name) while rooting, updated to mikg sense rom, downgraded radios, flashed then received those issues, did a recovery from nand back up, issues still there. I'm not home yet, but i'll try to update the prl. I also thought it was one if those you guys stated. The other forum thinks that I screwed a middle step up and gave me some software( haven't tried it yet). But i'll update later.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I believe that you are correct it's running off of roaming. Don't know why I get verizon error though.. But sadly I found where I went wrong. I fcked a middle step up. Only 9/10 of the data successfully transfered to the device for some reason. My rls log shows that my esn(hex) is zero'd out. That means that the other ways involving esn to restore are now deemed useless, unless there is a way involving org. Hex or dex. I would try rewriting locations using old esn &meid locations but didn't write the esn down . Any guidance from here?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
once you write the MEID, I have always had it write the ESN for me, I have never had to restore the ESN personally. But there is a website out there that will figure out your ESN based off of your MEID. google it cause I do not remember the name of it off of the top of my head.
Yes, I was working with different software than I usually use. But yes I found a meid converter early. I now know my esn and will try to do it manually the way I stated above.

Problem resolved, everything is now running smooth, thanks again to the few who actually responded to my post.

I picked up a used Evo 4G recently only to find the previous owner had it flashed to MetroPCS.
As far as I can tell I've got it all back on the Sprint network but still having some problems, example, it'll only call out or receive voicemail when roaming. I want to take it to the Sprint store but the banner says "MetroPCS".
I need to know exactly what the default Sprint banner says so I can fix it up before taking it in.
The device is showing my @sprintpcs email address, downloaded the latest PRL (60687).
I didn't know what the MSL was and didn't use cdma-workshop because on two different systems with two different antivirus software it came up as Malware. I set it to 000000 using a guide I found but could do with knowing what it should be. (Is the MSL unique to me as a customer, if so would I be able to find it from my Moment phone maybe?)
Anyway, the main thing is the banner. If I can set this then it'll be half the battle.
TIA.
P.S. Why wouldn't this be reset after a factor reset? Is there a code that will literally wipe everything or am I missing something that I need?
I think it didn't reset because its a radio thing, not software. Not the smartest on carrier flashing things though.

Post 1 and use the 3rd download link for the PRI, baseband and WIMAX.
Flash it and see if that fixes the issue.
Thanks for the link. I have to leave in 10 minutes so I'm not going to have time. I have tried to get into recovery before (hold down volume while powering on) but it doesn't seem to work for me so I need to look around and see what I'm missing. If Sprint can't help then I'll give this a go.
They did tell me they had a service outage in this area so I'll try on my way home.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Make sure fastboot is off in settings, and once that is off, pull out battery and put back in then try again. Or get quickboot or something from the play store.

Thanks for the posts. Sprint was saying that they couldn't get it to receive a signal so they'll just replace it for me. That $8 a month that I've been paying forever finally pays off!
I picked up an E4GT a couple weeks ago, had been just playing around with it, flashing a couple ROMs and such, so I decided to replace the phone I currently have on my plan (EVO 3D) with the E4GT. So I proceeded to installing a stock FH13 ROM on the phone and I unrooted it (just to be sure nothing would be getting in the way of activation). Now I've called to try and activate it twice (assuming the first time I called the person didn't know what he was talking about) and each time the codes that the Sprint representative gives me do not work.
The first code he gave me was ##725465#, and said to hit edit when I was taken to the next menu, however, this code did nothing for me.
Then he asked me to enter ##72786#, then to change the MSL, however, the codes he gave me to change the MSL continuously gave me the error "Invalid Lock Code"
Both times the person let me know that the phone had been "tampered" with and that in its current state, it could not be activated.
SO......what did I do wrong?? Do I need to be on a stock GB ROM?? I wouldn't think so, but am rather confused, as I'm sure there is a logical explanation for my issue. Or is it the phone? Has it been flashed for another carrier (Cricket, Boost)? I don't know, so I turn to y'all....gimme your input!

so you never had the phone activated?
Why not Odin Stock EL29 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101.
This will take you to a stock (although rooted, but will not make a difference for OTA updates because of the stock kernel and other code)
Then try what they are asking.
Nope, I've never activated this phone myself.
Unless anyone has any other ideas, I'll probably trying the stock EL29 and see if that works
Did you buy it used?

What ROM are you actually running? The dialer codes don't work on the CM or AOSP roms, at least not normally.
You need to be on a Touchwiz based ROM.

@ravaged: Yes, I bought it used.
@DaMan: I tried to activate it online, went through the process, it wouldn't take, and then was told to call technical support
@Dalmus: I am on a TouchWiz ROM, stock FH13
Sounds like someone may have flashed it to boost or USC. Therefore the esn won't match because the original is no longer there. You may want to check out some of the guides for flashing your phone to another carrier. I've never done it but maybe you can reverse the steps. You may need a sacrificial phone with a good esn to do it. Someone on one of those threads may be able to assist you more.
I went ahead and put in on the stock EL29 ROM, and the codes still don't work.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking might be the case....
Someone else broke it,. ..................... no soup for then!

So I've gone about google searching for flashing back to Sprint, most suggestions start with flashing a Sprint PRL and that seems to be the secret to everything....but when I enter the RTN service menu, I've found this phone already has a Sprint PRL. The MSL is 000000 which seems to mean that it was indeed flashed to another carrier, but I can't figure out how to get the original MSL back.
Not completely sure, but I think that number is under the battery with the serial number.
Nah....the MSL is a 6 digit number which I believe for this phone should be 725465, although I'm not exactly sure, but that's the number the Sprint representative gave me to enter originally....I dunno.....
I'm figuring there has to be a way to revert the MSL back to its original....just can't figure out how.....
Where did you buy it from?

CDMA Workshop is used to do just that along with some other stuff. just google it and rewrite the orig MSL.
Also since it is 000000 someone changed it via CDMAWS sprint phones do not have orig msl as 000000.
If the DEC under the battery (orig) and in the MEID phone info (programed) dont match then the orig DEC esn could of been a bad esn (blacklisted) or it has been flashed to another carrier....boost..etc with the donor ESN.
What does terminal emulator say when you try getting your MSL that way?

Before I describe my issue, I'd like to state that I have searched high and low for answer to no avail. I am using a Sprint Galaxy Note II that has been upgraded to 4.3 stock. It was unrooted when my issue began, but I went ahead and rooted it to try and help my problem.
Two days ago I signed up for Straight Talk Bring your own phone. I entered the provided code which took me to the hands free activation. The activation proceeded successfully (my phone said success) until it forced a prl update. It says it fails (each time it tries the prl update) and immediately reboots the phone. Once booted the activation attempts again and repeats over and over unless I cancel before it gets to the prl update. Strangely enough if I try to make a call it says my phone has not yet been activated, and yet a few times after waiting I can make calls (verified they are coming from my new number), but no data functions. If I then try and complete the activation (the incomplete notification remains), I'm back to square one.
Straight Talk techs have assured me that my phone is active throughout their system and the sprint towers are having no issues. They say other Note II's have been successful. My phone is communicating with the towers as I get the LTE icon during activation.
As an experiment I activated a Samsung Galaxy 3 (never rooted) using the same method and it went through fine. It updated the prl and is now working like a champ. I am now at wits end with my Note. I have faith that all would function if I could get the prl to update and I haven't a clue how to get there from here. I have also been unsuccessful obtaining my MSL even after rooting. A little history on the phone is that it was active with Sprint and it was rooted at 4.1. I returned it to stock to take the 4.3 update.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

If it's active in their system and if their systems are compatible with your phone then you should be able to update the profile and PRL with no issues. Make sure you're connected to WiFi. There isn't much else you can do short of cloning another phones information onto it but then you won't get LTE. Are you sure it's active on their system and not still attached to Sprint?

It is active in their system and unfortunately I don't have another phone to clone. My prl says 2010. It will not update over wifi or LTE. I've tried factory resets (before I rooted). I'm sure it's something with my phone. I just can't pinpoint it. The only progress I have made is that I did manage to extract my MSL. The reps at straight talk said my phone would use sprint towers to activate. Also I'm wondering it my note would use the same prl at the S3 I activated. Thanks so much for trying to help.
You can do *22804 and it should update the prl

Although I may be completely wrong here, I can only go off of experience saying I haven't had a problem updating the profile and PRL or getting service from a "flashed to" carrier, by replacing the original carriers settings. I've tried NUMEROUS Sprint and Boost Mobile PRLs on my phones (I've had a EVO 4G, S2, Nexus, EVO LTE, and Note 2 on Boost...yeah I change phones a lot) and never had an issue getting Boost Mobile service since they use Sprint's towers.
First off, is the Note 2 still active on Sprint? CALL Sprint and verify this. I know if I try to activate a Verizon iPhone 4 on Page Plus that it'll default to Verizon OTA programming and pull that data when I WANT it to pull PP's OTA data via *228 (or *22890). Same thing may be applied here (except with update profile instead of *228). Secondly, is the phone's MEID the same as what you registered on the account? Although I think the L900 is set to show the OEM MEID in settings, I've seen some US Cellular (and maybe Verizon) phones that have shown the OEM MEID in settings but when hooked up in diag mode through the computer showed the real MEID which was completely different. Just something else to consider to make sure you cover everything!

MMM I think I know what's going on here. You need to change your MDN and MIN to something other than 000000xxxx. I think that's forcing a HFA loop every time you boot the phone. Are you familiar with CDMA workshop or DFS CDMA tool? You'll need one of these to possibly fix your problem. Essentially, i think your phone needs to update the profile. This wouldn't be a big issue but I think HFA is strictly sprint and update profile won't work until you get rid of the HFA nag without disabling SprintDM. Check out the two programs I mentioned.

This might just work. I have CDMA workshop demo version but am unsure how to conduct the procedure. I really need to get it fixed because now hubby is in the hospital and has the s3. This is my only means of communicating with him when I'm not there. Wish I had the funds to just buy a note 2 that is unlocked but that is not an option right now.

If you're on a CDMA network, meaning your carrier didn't give you a SIM card, then having an unlocked phone does nothing for you. Straight talk might be CDMA and GSM though, never looked too much into it. Anyway, you're going to need to dial ##DIAG# in your dialer to bring up the "port" menu. Leave it on PDA and select Qualcomm USB settings or something along those lines. You should be at MTP. Switch it to DM+Modem+ADB. Plug your device into your computer. In device manager you should be able to see which port your computer assigned to it. If you have to, change the port number to be COM25 or under. Go into CDMA WS, connect to the port, send the password: 2012112120131219 and your SPC. Go to NAM1 and read. You should see your MDN and MIN are kind of zeroed out. Replace them with something other than zeros, like MDN: 7737777777 MIN: 3122222222. Reboot your phone. HFA nag should've gone away (if you're on 4.3). Now you should be able to update your profile WITHOUT having to go through Sprint's HFA, and after it grabs everything it needs, you should be on Straight Talk.

Tried the above but got lost on MIN. (is this the same as MSID?). Didn't find MIN anywhere. This is what I did try and it may have worked..so far, so good. I changed my number via the Straight Talk automated. I then tried the HFA which failed again, so I went in and maually programmed my username, MDN and MSID. I then tried mms and making calls and it worked. I then used root explorer to get rid of HFA by deleting the Sprint update apk. The prl 2010 remained and Sprint Zone says it is current. My only issue is that internet does not work though mms does. That is an issue I am now going to try and tackle. For the record, internet also does not work on the S3 that completed the HFA and prl update successfully. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix that I am open for suggestions. Thanks for your help on this. Please see screenshots..
Yes MIN is the same as MSID. You needed to program the numbers through a CDMA flashing program to get rid of the HFA nag. Now that you've programmed them through the phone...I'm not too sure how you're going to deal with the HFA. Yes, you disabled it, but you also disabled the ability to update the profile which is what you need to do for your data to work...
Success!
Success!! Here's what I did...Found an old Sprint prl file and copied it to sd card. Flashed Digiblur Rom which includes ability to write a prl file in settings. Used root explorer to go in and rename Sprint Update apk so that it would temporarily deactivate. Updated prl to the one on sd card through Digirom. Went back in and "reactivated" Sprint update apk. This activated the HFA immediately and promptly updated the profile and prl to the correct one for sprint (since straight talk BYOP uses those) and voila.. voice, mms and internet are now working perfectly. The issue seemed to be that HFA was changing MSL to 0000006503. Simply correcting it was not enough. I had to roll back the prl to make it update correctly. It updated it back to the 2010 that it was before and updated the profile as well. I like Digiblur Rom but decided to go with Paranoid Android rom instead. I'm loving it. May try a 4.4 next. I'm running Kit Kat on my Nexus Tab and I like it. Until this fiasco, I hadn't rooted my Note 2. Forgot how much fun roms can be. Used to play with them all the time on my HTC Evo. See screenshot of my success; unfortunately showing 3g in screenshot. LTE is spotty in my area so at times I'm reduced to 3g inside my home but I'm on wifi at home anyway.

Im happy this worked for you. I believe you have to have an older Android OS to make the trick work. My question is, how can we make this work with a 4.4.2 OS? Much thanks in advance.

My community rom (4.4.2 tw) has the ability to write prl via ##data# then view knot edit).
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Samsung Galaxy S3 (L710)
On both of my L710 (S3), the write PRL option was not showing. So ##data# didnt work for me. I had to install this app:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/32jc7i0w2fa2oxw/PRLWUnhide_S3_MA6.zip/
This made it so I was able to see that function.
Here are a bunch of PRL files. I believe the latest is 25018. If its not listed there, just do a search for the zip file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35576100
I was able to update the Profile and PRL after writing the TEST.prl file.
However, that didnt seem to solve my problem.
No 3g/4g, with HFA loop, with FreedomPOP as my provider (SPRINT MVNO).
I get a "unable to establish a data connection" error MIP:67 on one of the phones when trying to activate.
On the other phone, I get the notice to call customer care (SPRINT).
I believe this to be an ICCID issue, but I cannot confirm this:

Pull up your dialer, punch in ##72786#. Let the phone go through its little process, then try to update prl and profile.
I am currently using a sprint note 2 on straight talk, had the same issue, and that's what I did to fix it.
