[CAMPAIGN]--Drivers for ARMv6 for ICS, CM9, MIUI4 from QUALCOMM - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 General

I was really amazed since many devices produced still uses ARMv6.
Porting ICS, CM9, and MIUI4 with the help of official drivers can speed up and gain true HWA (hardware acceleration)
http://www.groubal.com/ics-drivers-compiled-for-armv6-from-qualcomm/#signatures
PLS. go there and sign for the campaign of these drivers.
ARMv7 has been provided with these. so also pls help the ARMv6 campaign
Galaxy Y has ARMv6
thanks and regards,
former sgy-mates

I think our device has Broadcomm

broadcom is the chipset while arm6 is the processor. please don't get confused by this kind of information

Those drivers are for qualcomm armv6 processors but our device uses broadcom bcm21553

to make it clear...broadcom is a vendor name. bcm21533 is the chipset series number used in our device. while armv6 is the processor. qualcom and broadcom is sure different vendor but they use same processor in some of their product. thats why some of the source code used in armv6 qualcom could be usefull for developing our device either. I hope this info could be helpfull

@kurotsogi : thanks for the info very helpfull
and i signed the petiton pls all SGY uysers it could be helpfull for use to in some way or the other....

Oh yea ) sorry all . But it can still be useful if a source is compiled for an armv6.

Windows Phone 7 on Epic 4g?

I don't know very much about the development end as far as porting an OS from one device to another but I was wondering if it was possible to port WP7 to the Samsung Epic 4g. I know the new Samsung Focus has it as its OS so I assumed being that they are Samsung products that there might be a possibility of getting WP7 on the Epic but I have no idea. Does anyone know if its possible and if anyone is working on it?
No.
WP7 requires either a Qualcomm QSD8250 (GSM) or QSD8650 (CDMA) - there may also be other hardware requirements
Even if the hardware requirements were there if anyone started working on porting this over they would quickly get a cease and desist order for Microsofts legal team. WP7 is not free and definitely not open source. Never going to happen. If you want a phone with WP7, buy a phone with WP7.

Not true...WP7 doesn't require a Qualcomm processor. The requirements for WP7 were but not limited to the Qualcomm 8200 and 8600 series.
If what you say is true, no further advancements in processors could be made to be used with WP7.
I remember reading the requirements for WP7...it was not limited to those 2 types of processors by far. And the Hummingbird processor may even be included in the supported processors list.
EDIT: In this stickied thread in this specific forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649909
It states and I quote, "ARMv7 based applications processor (compare this to ARMv4 for WinMo 6.x)"
The Hummingbird Processor installed in the Samsung Epic, and all of the Galaxy S Devices, is a ARMv7 based processor

Any chance to see meego 1.2 hummingbird ??

I want to ask developers, if there's any chance to port meego 1.2 hummingbird that is now installed on new nokia n9, it's really great and with "ALIEN DALVIK" it can run native android applications !!!!!!!!!!!!
Why ? To run apps which use hummingbird cpu ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
nope, hummingbird is the codename ... the nokia n9 has just an arm v7 cpu (cortex a8) and has this version of meego 1.2 and it runs great!
apart from this
with the application "alien dalvik" meego os is capable of running android apps
with full support!!!
Would wanna see it! It's gonna be so awesome! I know our dev teams can do it!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
you should just search for nokia n9 on youtube .. it's awesome and the awesome thing as i wrote b4 is that every arm v7 could have this os ... the problem is (as always) in the drivers ... anyway check the nokia n9 specs ... the gpu and processor have nothing special .. arm cortex a8 1ghz gpu powervr sgx530
It seems the meego to Desire has been bubbling around for sometime, not sure about the hummingbird version though. I think any new port to the desire keeps it fresh and interesting but devs are just getting on with the 2.3 recent release to get it running perfectly on desire. It would be interesting to see this on a desire. There are a couple of videos floating about claiming meego is running on the Desire but I'm not entirely convinced. This would be an interesting port.

It's great ... we should ask developers!!!!
on this link there are some information for the porting only 1.1 version but ... better than nothing

[Q] WP7.5 on arc

hi everyone , today HTC announced the htc RADAR , now i eas looking at its specs sheet :
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_radar-4131.php
seems like it has the same chipset as our arc , it has the : 1 GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset.
so does that mean that we can port the OS from the HTC RADAR to the S.E ARC without problems ?
excuse me , but im uneducated in these technical stuff so if anyone who is working and works in the department of ROMS and portings here would please answer me i would be thankful
thank you in advance .
WP is not open source so, there is no source for port, so no way to port to another device
Android can be ported to another non android devices 'cuz there is a source code for working with
then how was it possible to port wp7.5 to the HTC HD2 ?

Adreno 200 drivers available from Qualcomm!

The qualcomm forum admin just commented in the appropriate thread:

Re: QSD 8250, Adreno 200 hardware-related proprietary ...
In order to provide enthusiasts with recent improvements made to Snapdragon's Adreno graphics drivers, Qualcomm has made the updated Adreno 2xx graphics driver binaries available here. Note that you will most likely need to be a developer to take advantage of these new drivers since they'll require integration with the CAF release of ICS, but Qualcomm is providing these driver binaries "as is" to those of you who have requested them.

Wow i cant believe, i guess it's safe to say official CM9 is coming to Desire.
I just wanna cry!!
Don't read to much into it yet It might not be as helpful as ppl think.
Great news!!! Now devs have everything for their new roms!

Let's be optimistic!

Just gave it a try with latest dk_zero_cool-rom. Took the files from the package and pushed them to the appropriate places. System came up, but running chrome seems more buggy than with the old version. There seem to be lots of locking and out-of-memory exceptions. will give tiamats latest kernel a try now...
Update: no luck with Tiamat_Bravo-v031412 as well. I've attached a logcat if anyone is interested in looking at this
I suspect that just pushing the files directly might be buggy, people will probably find that with roms will need to be recompiled against these binaries to get the most out of them. Could well be wrong mind you but certainly think wuld be the most logical step
I'm not sure if a simple recompile will help. These are all dynamic modules, as far as I understand this it shouldn't make much difference. especially since the package doesn't contain any headers but just the libs and some firmware.
I'm pretty sure atleast kernel has to be "reworked" for new drivers.
I wouldn't bet one euro on that! Legendary Qualcomm

While this is better than nothing, let's first give the talented devs at XDA a crack at this before passing judgment. Hopefully once they work their magic, we can get a more polished product in a shorter timeframe.
I'll be impressed if ICS can be implemented on the desire as well as gingerbread was. Let's not forget that the desire launched with Android 2.1 (maybe even 2.0 in some areas?) if I'm not mistaken.
Well I be damned...

[Q] Adreno 2xx driver update

Hello,
On another forum i found this link to Qualcomm's website and there was a discussion about the usability of ICS drivers for the adreno 2xx posted there on march 13th.
So my question: I'm running Andomedus v13 and I wonder if it would make the graphics driver more up to date? If i'm right the vision uses the adreno 205 GPU, so it would be compatible? Or is it just Developer related?
Thanks!

That is for devs only, you couldn't just lift the driver and put it in yourself. But it is invaluable stuff for devs to cook into their roms.
