When I use my FFC for the stock camera app I noticed that the image is mirrored and there is no longer a button to invert it. I was previously on anthrax kernel and am now on Lionfish. Going to be flashing the new SBC sense kernel once I can get my charger to flash.... But both Anthrax and Lionfish have a mirrored picture with FFC.
I heard you can use a 3rd party camera app but tbh, I don't want to, I like the look of the stock camera. Any known issues on this or a possible fix?
Issue is the lionfish kernel. So the only fix is flashing a new kernel.

No. I said I was previously on Anthrax and it did it too. So its not because of lionfish. Or is anthrax based off it? I thought it was built from ground up

I don't think it's kernel at all. HTC removed the mirror setting in the latest OS updates. A lot off roms including mikg are built with this update. Maybe HTC Will put it back.

Sorry for reviving an old thread.
Confirmed. I tried a different kernel and same issue. When I was on Decks 1.3d I had no problem. Oh well. Hopefully they'll put it back

O.O Holy ****... I never once expected a reply from you. Tried your SBC kernel when it original came out, and was pretty decent. Didn't notice THAT huge of a difference, but then again I was using the custom one. Will try again
Flashing now....
T_T During flash process though, I accidentally deleted my sdext and have no backup.

Downloaded and flashed Underworld v4 and got it up and running, however I don't notice FFC fix. It's still mirrored. Am I unable to do it with default camera app? IE: Is it supposed to add a checkbox to flip or does it do it automatically?
The FFC fix had to do with custom kernels causing the FFC to flip upside down, not the mirrored picture. I'm not sure how you can change it, to be honest. I never use my FFC, and even if I did I probably wouldn't mind the mirroring much.

I thought it was due to the ROM? By that logic one simply has to flash a different kernel. Though if I remember right, his kernels had some issues with flipped images in early releases
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Every kernel besides stock had flipped images, but ca1ne fixed it in his most recent updates. I don't know what causes the mirroring. Is it really a problem though?
Not really...but if I'm wearing a shirt with writing...it kinda sucks lol. No worries
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Oh, never thought about that. Buy shirts with mirrored font for when you have to use your FFC!
I think the camera apk might need to be modified to remove mirror mode... Unsure since I've stopped playing with apks and roms for a bit while I try to get the kernels up to snuff

Hey everyone. My wife decided her mytouch slide is a little too laggy for her. I have rooted and flashed HTC phones and my vibrant with great success. I am going to do her phone this weekend but I need some help please. I do NOT follow this forum at all so I have no idea what [ROM]s are stable and functioning for everyone else. If I could please get some input from you guys that have been here and have tested these out it would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance
Start with the Slide bible: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704567
Personally, I think this is the easiest root method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754020
If you want Froyo, Cyanogen is very good if you don't need bluetooth: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755118
If bluetooth is important for you, CR_Mod is said to be an excellent 2.1 ROM. I haven't tried it personally, Froyo is too yummy for me to go back. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7534187#post7534187
Good luck!
The dopio oc kernels are also very stable esp at 768 and 806. Just use set cpu app to maximize battery life.
The cm nightlies are also usually very stable.
The slide reloaded rom is also a sweet themed version of cr's full ota rom.

Yeah was looking for froyo but not necessary. Looked through the bible but wanted some real world feedback. I'm usually partial to eugene373's roms. But cyanogen is a god. Thanks guys. I'll let it ride for a lil while before I make a decision.

Yeah, for my uses, Cyan with the dopio kernel is the way to go 100%. But you never know, once you get the ENG flashed, let your wife play with all the ROMs she can handle until she finds one she likes. ROM Manager makes it ridiculously easy.
What about the galaxy slide rom by infinitybiff? Anyone tried that? I don't use touch wiz on my vibrant but the wife might like it. Still leaning towards cyan. Just need something fast and stable for her. I'm gonna have to theme it for her myself cause there is no one doing that.

Yes, just make sure you back up first, in case you want to switch back.
cyanogenmod or crmod
I just flashed Galaxy Slide Beta the other day after using CR for the longest time. its the first ROM that i have flashed (and there have been many) that i didn't immediately flash straight back to CR. i am having a minor trouble with the color scheme in the notification pull down and i haven't tried all the features yet... (i.e. bluetooth, tethering, and maybe one or two more) but all in all i love it!

The dopio kernel is integrated into cyanogenmod 6.1+, no need to flash it over again, but other roms you will have to flash it.

Cyanogenmod is froyo, and based off of the AOSP source, so it has a more vanilla flavor to it. CR_Mod is just the rooted stock OTA ROM with a wifi tether, and a2ext built in. CR_Mod is also eclair, it just all depends on what you like better, the latest vanilla customizable stuff, or the more stock HTC sense feel, with all of the t-mobile stuff.
Have tried a few kernels for france based roms and haven't been able to use the camera at all with them. Sick kernel seems to be the only thing that works.
Are there any that work, AOSP or sense?

My buddy has an 0004 that I rooted for him and the Ziggy kernels seemed to work okay. I think it really just depends on the phone really. I know the new hardware gives limitations but we have to remember not all phones are created equal.
Sense. Sorry, swype isn't perfect. I've tried ziggy but if boot looped. I tried the recommended kernel from MS but the camera didn't work.

I know I need a Kernel that supports overclocking before I use something like CPUBoost... which one can anyone recommend that is stable and would allow this.
Sorry this is my first time posting in this forum... was using the Eris up until yesterday.
Thanks in advance.

It's all preference, depends on if you are using an AOSP rom or Sense rom. Try them out for yourself and then decide, everyone gets different results.
I'm just throwing this out there we can only overclock our phones a wee bit and it for me at least destroys battery life.

honestly you could probably get away with just installing some of the AOSP kernels floating around the Dev threads...I LOVE invisibleks line of kernels, #28 is a champion for me...but I believe the new Tiamat line of kernels is concentrating on aggressive undervolting...I would give them a try
Might try that... it's weird, coming from an Eris, there's definitely a more professional way about this forum. BUT (big but).... the ROM's seems to be overall more incomplete and I am worried about losing somee functionality. So installing a Kernel would be my best bet I guess.... being I would retain all the functionality of the stock ROM.
Hope I make sense.
Oh the other thing is... when a kernel is AOSP compatible, that means stock ROM also right?

It's been a few months and 1.2 is STILL the best ROM in my opinion. Just... any new news on the development for 1.3?
John did mention a new kernel would be included with 1.3 but that it wouldn't be Vision Kernel as was expected a while back. Other than that, rjmjr69 (leader of ACS) hinted that 1.3 would be "coming soon" in the 1.2 thread not to long ago, so we shouldn't be waiting much longer. My GUESS (which should be taken with a grain if salt) would be that it's in its testing stages and being prepped for release, hopefully before Oct? We'll see what happens tho, someone on the inside is bound to tip us off with a teaser or something soon.

LOL ... yep , when rjmjr69 posted that , I got my phone ready , but still waiting ... LOL
Yeah, when they are trying to add a new kernel, new tweaks, Hotspot hack, etc it can get tricky. Especially the kernel part. You have to test so many configurations to confirm stability. For all I know, the kernel may not make it in. I will contact some people to try and get more details

It will be based on froyo, iirc, which would mean it'l be outdated at release. They may have considered that...

Thanks, Ceelos! That's what I needed to hear! In my opinion, I think ACS should just "strongly" suggest a good kernel for us to include instead of making one. But, I'm happy with 1.2 at the moment.
I tried the Hurricane ROM and the volume was waaay too loud. I reverted back to ACS 1.2 and I'm happy as a clam.

Usually teams seem to recommend a fellow team, member's or friend's kernel but the one that is the most current is Genocide 2.0 that has Voodoo 10. Maybe I will go through all of the kernels and test for battery life, speed, and whatever anyone asks

Since it is so easy to flash a kernel, and they dont normally change anything else in my setup, I tend to have as many as possible on my SD to cycle through until I find the one that works the best on my setup

Just hearing the part about you knowing 2 devs that are working on kernels is a breath of fresh air to me. I've been wondering when new kernels would start to roll out again. I was hoping for an update to Vision and Genocide kernels, especially after the efficiency keyboard patch was released by mkasick. Hope to see some updated, and possibly new, kernels.

They should not include a custom kernel. One of the best thing in 1.2 was the stock kernel. Custom kernels sometimes make apps to FC. I had issues, random reboots, FCs with custom kernel. That why I choose 1.2 because it have a stock kernel, no issues since first install(well in my wife Epic it lost the root).

1.2 did not have a kernel it keeps whatever kernel you had before. Im sure it lost root on your wife's epic cause it was probably stock and root is usually baked in the kernel

Hey all, I'm having some issues with the camera under the 10.5 BFS kernel with CM7.2 (both nightlies and RCs). I used that combination for awhile but then I got a screen digitizer replacement for my Inc2 and now the camera doesn't refresh under the default CM camera app unless I interact with the screen/app. I tried the camera under the app Paper Camera and it seems to work pretty well. This only happens with aero's kernel though, not the default CM7.2 kernel. The issue also doesn't occur with the unofficial CM9 builds from aero but I think that's because that ROM is using a different camera driver? If aero or anyone can shed some light on this I'd be grateful, I love using the 10.5 BFS kernel! Thanks!
it's not the kernel, it's a known issue with ics on dinc2, there is a patch on here or somewhere for the camera to work and camcorder but no flash

Thanks for the tip but aerovan stated that the kernel is compatible with the latest CM7.2 builds. I know of at least one popular Kang that bundles the same kernel. Also it worked perfectly fine up until I got my digitizer replaced... so maybe it has something to do with that?
