Hey all, I'm having some issues with the camera under the 10.5 BFS kernel with CM7.2 (both nightlies and RCs). I used that combination for awhile but then I got a screen digitizer replacement for my Inc2 and now the camera doesn't refresh under the default CM camera app unless I interact with the screen/app. I tried the camera under the app Paper Camera and it seems to work pretty well. This only happens with aero's kernel though, not the default CM7.2 kernel. The issue also doesn't occur with the unofficial CM9 builds from aero but I think that's because that ROM is using a different camera driver? If aero or anyone can shed some light on this I'd be grateful, I love using the 10.5 BFS kernel! Thanks!
it's not the kernel, it's a known issue with ics on dinc2, there is a patch on here or somewhere for the camera to work and camcorder but no flash

Use angel camera for flash, there's even a theme of it out there somewhere so it isn't pink.

Uh.... 10.5 BFS is an ICS kernel. I don't believe that ICS kernels can be used on gingerbread roms, well not with full functionality anyways...

Thanks for the tip but aerovan stated that the kernel is compatible with the latest CM7.2 builds. I know of at least one popular Kang that bundles the same kernel. Also it worked perfectly fine up until I got my digitizer replaced... so maybe it has something to do with that?
I'm running the latest CM7 nightlies and always an aeroevan 10.5 kernel. No camera problems here.

Oh ok good to know. I haven't ran or even browsed any of the cm7 rooms in forever. Have you tried a fresh install of the rom and kernel? I'm thinking that this problem is software related. It just doesn't sound like a hardware problem to me.

When I use my FFC for the stock camera app I noticed that the image is mirrored and there is no longer a button to invert it. I was previously on anthrax kernel and am now on Lionfish. Going to be flashing the new SBC sense kernel once I can get my charger to flash.... But both Anthrax and Lionfish have a mirrored picture with FFC.
I heard you can use a 3rd party camera app but tbh, I don't want to, I like the look of the stock camera. Any known issues on this or a possible fix?
Issue is the lionfish kernel. So the only fix is flashing a new kernel.

No. I said I was previously on Anthrax and it did it too. So its not because of lionfish. Or is anthrax based off it? I thought it was built from ground up

I don't think it's kernel at all. HTC removed the mirror setting in the latest OS updates. A lot off roms including mikg are built with this update. Maybe HTC Will put it back.

Sorry for reviving an old thread.
Confirmed. I tried a different kernel and same issue. When I was on Decks 1.3d I had no problem. Oh well. Hopefully they'll put it back

O.O Holy ****... I never once expected a reply from you. Tried your SBC kernel when it original came out, and was pretty decent. Didn't notice THAT huge of a difference, but then again I was using the custom one. Will try again
Flashing now....
T_T During flash process though, I accidentally deleted my sdext and have no backup.

Downloaded and flashed Underworld v4 and got it up and running, however I don't notice FFC fix. It's still mirrored. Am I unable to do it with default camera app? IE: Is it supposed to add a checkbox to flip or does it do it automatically?
The FFC fix had to do with custom kernels causing the FFC to flip upside down, not the mirrored picture. I'm not sure how you can change it, to be honest. I never use my FFC, and even if I did I probably wouldn't mind the mirroring much.

I thought it was due to the ROM? By that logic one simply has to flash a different kernel. Though if I remember right, his kernels had some issues with flipped images in early releases
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Every kernel besides stock had flipped images, but ca1ne fixed it in his most recent updates. I don't know what causes the mirroring. Is it really a problem though?
Not really...but if I'm wearing a shirt with writing...it kinda sucks lol. No worries
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Oh, never thought about that. Buy shirts with mirrored font for when you have to use your FFC!
I think the camera apk might need to be modified to remove mirror mode... Unsure since I've stopped playing with apks and roms for a bit while I try to get the kernels up to snuff
I've been on CM9 RC1 for a while, but I want to switch to the CM10 kang; I'm worried that it'll suffer in battery life and stability though. Should I just wait for official or is it worth using as a daily now?

All of my phones are running stock...
Epic - FC09 debloated
GS3 - LG2 debloated
GNex - 4.1.1 AOSP build
IMO, just keep the epic on stock or a stock based ROM... even though it is outdated, it runs best on the hardware.

I'd reply in the development forum, but xda-developers hate their users and I can't...
The main problem with the kang CM10 rom right now is the same problem they fixed in CM9, found here: epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/cm9-longterm-testing-is-showing-android.html (again, if xda-developers didn't hate their users, I could post a link).
If you can find a way to not use any RAM, its great! Once you open 2 or more apps, the system chugs for ~5 minutes each time you need a bit more RAM.
No. They just don't want any idiot or spammer posting in development. You need 10 contributing posts.

As others have said, I would wait. I tried the CM10 kang from the other day (not paranoid android version) and it just didn't feel "complete," likely because it isn't. Oddly enough I figured while I was wiping I would go back to TPR and am now enjoying superb battery life that I forgot I ever had while using ICS.

If you have to ask, probably not. It lacks a lot of polish and should only be used a step between proof of concept and daily driver. Or just to show off to others.

This is just my opinion.... But CM9 RC2....is by far the best yet.. And i mean that because it is flawlessly, no bugs whatsoever or fc... Just a little fyi... I always Odin back to stock before I flash anything... And RC2 is snappy, stable, and has great battery life...... I can wait for jb

Note quite "flawless" I'd say... there's still the camera focus problem, bluetooth problem, etc.
RC2 bugs follow.
Auto flash only works if you toggle flash on/auto after each reboot, no LED for video, video MMS messages do not work, slideshows for MMS do not work, Bluetooth will not connect or end calls with screen off and will often disconnect/reconnect at random times, WiFi sleeps regardless of set policy.
Everything else works fine.

I really can't talk for anybody else.... But i have no focus problem on my camera or blue tooth........... Like I said before... I always Odin back to stock and then reroot and then install the latest update of the rom I like...... And CM9 RC2 has been great with me.... I am not saying that using Odin to go back to stock and re flashing will fix all the problems..... But i don't have any complaints...

Bottom line, there are still some bugs... not huge ones, but the rom isn't 100% yet.... just sayin
I will agree with that.... The rom is not %100...... My point was that in my opinion.. This is rom is the most stable as of now...... And i have tried them all.... The water I look at it.... The build of a rom I can be as snappy or as fastest.... But for me stability is counts more.... What's the point of having a fast ui if it keeps fc on you..... You get my drift?

Hi guys, i was hoping u can tell me wich one is the best custom ICS rom for my iconia a-100.
I know there are several types of "best"... mine is the one most compatible and stable... im not looking for overclocking roms or else...
i've been trying cyanogenmod10... was a great rom, but have several problems with apps...
so guy... if u can recomend one ICS rom for me (compatible and stable) ill be super grateful =)
Thnx
You should stay on cm10. Cm9 /ics has waaayyyy more app compatibility issues than cm10.
But if you want ics flex repear is your best bet. And its awful.lol just because it is ics.

I would go with relix or green ICS. Both are on the first page of the dev section. There is also ZN custom v1.2, that is pretty stock looking, with tweaks and Acer ring, on the second page. Try them out.
ICS was always stable for me. Its all app dependent.

I don't have a running list, because I normally just find an alternative. But the ones I still use that are glitchy are dolphin, HDR camera, and my bank app. But its pretty hard to determine if any app issues are OS/rom related or app/app update related. Unless you want to load to roms several times and several app revisions. But I do recall, not having these apps cause me any problems before cm10. But the geek in me wants the newest and fastest customizations out. We know how that is.

I did my testing over ics stock, flex, than cm10 nightly and kaze cm10. The nightly is what best suited my needs in terms of app compatibility. Anyone that reads my posts at all should know my a100 is setup for powerhouse gaming. Lol

As you all may know, new all AOSP ROMs are switching to a new 3.4 kernel. But some S3's, including mine, are not playing nicely with this kernel. Why is this? Is still still being developed? Will there be a fix? Just looking for some info

1.) Its a brand new kernel in its infant stages.
2.) Of coarse its still being developed. Its only been about a week or so since it was implemented.
3.) A fix? Not really sure what you are asking for here. The kernel is brand new and users need to be patient and wait for developers to work on it. Until then you should stick to ROMs with the older 3.0.x kernels if they work better for you.

3.4 kernel got a lot better in last two three days, everything is working fine on today's cm10.1 nightly.
I'm having the same problem Buddy. My phone just seems to not like 3.4 kernels unless they are flashed with a ROM. Any time I try to flash a 3.4 third party kernel my phone just reboots till I restore a backup.
