Derp i figured it out now, i got the games i wanted to work.
sorry for the dumb questions lol
I've heard most people have better luck using Gederom to play certain games that would otherwise be unavailable for the kindle.

Sure, stock is the best since all games running on it. ICS from gede also not bad, my meaning the games which runing on it just play smooth than on stock ROM but some GAMELOFT games crashed, Modern Combat 3 play very well, better than on stock.

Do you know if there is a difference between gede having the Galaxy Nexus as the build.prop compared to say like Hashcode's build.prop saying Kindle Fire?
If there is a difference then im so going to gedes rom
I should recommend you this ICS rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619550
Why is it better than any other rom for gaming?
Well first of all I am using it myself. Don't have any problems.
Second, as you can see, there is a line in the thread:
Modified build.prop
Most Gameloft games working
Decreased powerconsumption
Gameloft games usually don't run on Kindle Fire. With that rom they do. I installed and played my self Real football 2012. Works like a charm!
And the last thing is that you can remove the status bar while playing or watching videos! Full screen enjoyment at its best. If you`ll install this rom, just hold the power button for like sec or 2, a window will pop up and on the down side you`ll see show/hide status bar.
I hope this helps you, since I use it myself
Also: If you haven't rooted/rotted a while ago update everything with this tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
You will have latest root, FireFireFire 1.4 and TWRP installed. This way it will be easier to do stuff.
If any questions: PM me, will be glad to help!
Good luck!
EDIT: If you want also use the Hashcode's kernel. Kinda like it more than ged preintstalled kernel

Thank you for showing me this rom! Im going to play with it soon later tonight
My HTC Desire is currently unrooted (I had it rooted once, but it started crashing all the time and the battery drainage was awfull..) but especially the limited capability of installing apps is getting on my nerves.
Since I ain't felling like trying around for weeks, I'd like to hear your opinion on which rom ist the most stable and fluid one.
So, my question is now, which rom is right now the most stable and fast?
From the looks I really liked the MIUI ROM I tried, but I also liked the cyanogen mod one.
Additionally: Is it usefull to change the kernel? If yes, which one and how am I supposed to do it?

Any ROM that is small, and fits into the internal memory.
Obviously if the ROM needs an ext partition it will be much slower.
So basically any AOSP ROM will satisfy you. (CM7, Oxygen, MIUI, dGB etc.)

well, but that's the main reason for flashing, on the stock ROM I'm just able to have really few apps installed until the internal memory is full.
The crashes where most times completly random. Sometimes it just rebooted in my pocked, another time it froze on the lockscreen, and then it froze while using it. And after some time I got stock in a bootloop (on both ROMs)

Using sd-ext doesn't mean that you'll get slower rom, as long as you have sd card with higher speed (class 6 or 10). You can try CM 7.2.0.1 from Proz0r's thread (with int2sd support) no difference with stock version trust me.

Go with OxyZM1.2 or MildWild v4.3, both Oxygen based and very smooth n stable
Sent from my HTC Desire
got OxyZM1.2 right now, I like it so far...just 2 quick questions:
How can I move whole apps to the ext4 partition on my SD card? I'm running pretty low on memory again...just like 30MB left...
I can also backup the login data of the stock email programm, so I don't have to reenter everything every time I install a new ROM, can't I?
by the way, what's the difference from OxyZM to MildWild?
Thanks for the answers till yet!
Hi,
My experience so far is very limited but:
CM7 is bullet proof, but my experience with using the app S2E to expand internal storage was variable.
One the one hand, you can just install anything you like and not worry about space (within reason)
Downside is after a few months use it was laggy as hell. It was taking 5 seconds to open up swiftkey.
Now, I've since tried the following:
BCM, a version of CM9/ICS for Desire. It's ludicrously fast and comes with a very nice built in script for using the sd card second partition as internal space.
It's still laggy, BUT I've now learnt how to align partitions correctly and that my SD card is badly aligned.
I've got the 4EXT recovery so once I've backed it all up I can re-partition the card correctly and see how much that improves things.
BCM's a2sd script (called Mounts2SD) also allows you to disable writing file times, good speed up from that too, I use it on my desktop PC's SSD.
So far though, BCM is chomping my poor battery, even when idle.
BCM benches about 50% faster than CM7 on AnTuTu (3000 vs 2000)
It's noticeably smoother for UI interactions, my one 3D game (Monopoly) it also noticeably smoother (higher frame rate)
So, I've got to now fix the battery drain and repartition the card and then my good old Desire is all good.
There's also something called Supercharger V6 which bodes well, unless all it's tweaks are already in CM7/9/BCM.
J.
not alot between the 2 really. download attached file and put on ur sdcard, boot into recovery and flash it (install from sdcard) this will give ya more space

hes looking for most stable rom lol also antutu scores are pointless and mean jack s*** imho
Benchmark scores mean nothing, just a bunch of useless information that are not right. Usually all roms that I used and had big scores on benchmark apps were running much slower then the ones with lower scores. As you all can see and try roms with swap support get much higher scores but doesn't run nor smoother nor better.

guys , i've tried several ics roms over few months and they are either buggy or laggy , so my question is : is there a rom for arc that doesn't laggg.
i've already tried JJ's in addition to some other roms , it always starts nice and smooth at first , but after a while it gets laggy
currently using JJ's Hybrid 3.1 with about 140 mbs on internal ram (using link2sd). and overclocked at 1.4 GHz
so is there anything that will work or should face the inevitable and revert back to Gingerbread
also : do you guys think , that jellybean roms , by any chance are(will be) smoother than ics
None, i tried all of them, from custom to stock. They seem fast and responsive at first, then i siwtch between a few apps then try to use the keyboard .... BAM, 10-20 secs lag.
All the ICS roms lag like hell in the moment when i need my phone the most (write a note, call a number, answer a call).
I am back to GB until CM10 goes a little stable, if it keeps the same lag as ICS then i will go back to GB forever on this device.

yeah , that's what i thought :|
i feel you bro , i think i'll go ahead , switch back to GB and finally , .. admit that my single core arc is too crappy for ICS.
DAMN YOU sony ,if it weren't so sexy , i would never have bought it.
Oh THE IRONY , back when i bought it , the ugly S2 was like "70$ only" more expensive than the arc !!!!
I would never go for S2 over Arc S, if I could choose again. But yes, Gingerbread runs much smoother than ICS, but I think that new ICS update is not that terrible, and I never had any "few seconds" lag, no matter how many apps I start one after another...
@ningen90: lol at the "DAMN YOU SONY, if it weren't so sexy" haha sorry, i was also victimized by its sexiness I also tried to scout for an ICS candidate, but there are always comments that it lags, so im running GB at the moment. some people say its ok, but most of the replies are about lag damn you sexy arc... hahaha
Actually ICS wasn't optimized for performance ...it is going to lag from time to time even on A high end devixe ...try Jelly Bean ...it is the evolution of ICS to performance .

no chance of any smoothness of ICS on ARC
ICS was meant to run properly on devices with ram greater than 512mb. With only 512mb of ram it can only hold the necessary system applications of ANDROID. SO while running ICS on arc it RUNS SMOOTHLY FIRST but afterwards the apps get CACHED it starts lagging
REALLY LIKE HELL (with only 100-150mb ram gets left what do you expect its PERFORMANCE).SO i don't think that there is any possibility of running ICS smoothly forever on ARC.:crying:
JELLY BEAN on the other hand will also be requiring HIGH SPEC DEVICES..SO don't expect it also run without any lag on arc.
I don't know why SONY ERICSSON only put 512mb of ram in all it's 2011 xperia devices while also assuring to RUN OUT THE ICS UPDATE knowing the fact that ICS requires a higher RAM value.
I like the INTERFACE of ICS but to use it on the ARC IS TO GIVE UP the speed and performance.I used it for a month(tried every ics and cm9 rom)
but was too too UPSET. SO gone back to the GINGER BREAD ROM(it's best for the xperia arc).:good:
TO USE ICS SMOOTHLY I SUGGEST TO BUY ANOTHER DEVICE WITH HIGH END SPECS.

The lagging is down to free memory - FYI I had terrible lag on GB too before I realised. You really need to be careful what you allow to run in the background.
Basically, you need to make sure there's somewhere around 100 MB free ram most of the time to guarantee a lag-free experience. You can use ES Task Manager to see what apps are consuming memory, and the 'running' tab in Manage Apps to see the services. Bear in mind widgets can be very memory hungry, particularly if you have 5 screens full of them; it's often best to use something like Beautiful Widgets which allows you to have various different widgets running, but they consume the same memory as one.
Just like on Windows, some apps pointlessly run at startup, consuming your system resources even when they're not being used - LivewareManager is one example. Worse still, these apps often restart automatically if killed. You can use SystemCleanup and/or Autorun Manager to stop this behaviour.
You may find alternatives to apps that need to run in the background also. For example, there's a taking caller ID app called eCID which needs to run all the time and consumes about 30 MB. I switched to a very similar app, Spoken Caller ID, and that just starts when the phone receives a call, and stops after it has done its job. The same is true of antivirus apps and others.
Some apps need to run as an "accessibility service", which is also always running in the background. Lightflow is an example of this, as is Tasker and some SmartWatch notification apps. Work out if you really need these. For example, I quickly realised that Tasker could effectively do the job my battery saver app and lightflow were doing all by itself.
If you use an alternative keyboard, the regular one keeps running in the background. Also, if you've replaced the TTS engine with one that sounds less robotic, it might be the case that one app is running for each installed voice. The solution here is to 'freeze' those using Titanium Backup or SystemCleanup.
I don't have any lag on my Arc, thanks to reducing what apps are running all the time to just the ones I actually want.

Totally Disagree.
just Have a Look on CM9 & CM10.
They Do not Lag.
Its A Problem Of Sony,Because Sony Did Not Optimised The ICS Rom.
So They Lagged.
Our Xperia Arc.Can Run It Smoother.:silly:
Only Thing It Requires A Good Rom Dev. Like Fxp.
Latest 587 firmware is far better, but yes, you always need to freeze unwanted services. It's not always Sony fault, when you use maps and quit the app, there is part of it that stay in background, like location service, same for the store.
Those Google apps are among the worse thing, they dont quit, stay in background, eating memory and cpu.
Another cause of laginess is the constant log writing, everything is log, i use CM7 on a Desire and there is much less logs. I don't know if there is a means to stop logging, i read a lot about logcat, but nothing useful.
And remember to always quit an application by the menu, if there is one or by return. using home simply put it on background.

ram and internal storage are two very different things, you seem to be confusing them - link2sd gives you more free internal storage, it does nothing for your ram. I'd bet your problem is free ram.
now i'm using JellySandwich 3.3 with infamous kernel, with link2sd and a lot of apps installed, the HTC keyboard (i kind of love it), and the perfomance it's good, so as the battery life (about 10 hours with heavy usage, games, wifi browsing...) the only thing with this rom, it's the scrolling on some heavy web pages (like phonearena), it's not so smooth like stock rom, or another ones that i try.
My Xperia Arc has ~220MB free of ram with locked bootloader and it's un-rooted, and I'm on ICS 4.0.4 with firmware 4.1.B.0.578.
I use stock rom, and stock kernel, and I'm using Apex launcher
Did you try this??'

Guys,
The Vendor folder exist on both devices, but on LT15 Firmware the vendor is a partition and include apps, different from LT18 where the folder is only for configuration and is inside SYSTEM partition.
Because of this is that LT15 has a small SYSTEM partition when flash the LT15 firmware.
What I did was flash LT15 firmware, make a backup of SYSTEM and VENDOR folder with ADB and TAR, and then flash LT18 SYSTEM and USERDATA partition only (with FlashTool). This remakes the partition table and resize SYSTEM and DATA partition to ~400mb.
Than after flash SYSTEM and USERDATA from LT18, I format the SYSTEM partition and restore both SYSTEM e VENDOR backup that I make, placing the configuration files of VENDOR partition in folder VENDOR of SYSTEM partition, and moving the APKs from APP folder in VENDOR to APP folder on SYSTEM root.
This worked perfectly, and now I have all APKs in SYSTEM/APP and the partition size of LT18 firmware with LT15 firmware.

Hey guys, I've had my play for just over a year, I've installed countless roms and had a ball doing it. Unfortunately I think the old girl is struggling to keep up with the last couple of custom roms, cm9.1 and mark phyton's un/official ICS rom. The latter is the one I am running now and even after a reinstall it is nearly unusable, it's extremely laggy and freezes on apps like facebook, kindle and youtube. Ram sits at 30-40mb free, I have link2sd running to free up internal memory and am overclocked to 1.2ghz with setcpu. I know ICS is pushing the limits of the play's capabilities but I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be this bad can anyone suggest anything to try to get better performance please?

I wasn't exactly happy with a lot of things but at least it worked.
Just now without any reason it started showing mad artifacting and while booting up there is rainbow colored tv static. i can barely make out anything and crashes are everywhere. Especially the developer settings menu.
could this have to do with the lupus kernel and the 4.?? Android version i have, or is this a hardware problem?
All the information is in the only thread i ever made. Since my pc is broken and im posting from my psvita i cant copy the url here.

First of all what do you mean by android 4? please be more specific are you meaning to say the advanced ftf? and from the sound of your issue if at first when still entering CWM or initial boot you are having the screen problem i can confidently say that is a hardware problem however if not the best way to solve this is flashing the original ftf for xperia play search in google i assure you can find it, and you can start from there you will need to have that pc fixed before anything else though

after you posted i got kind of sad and i said to my bro: i dont want my phone to die ;_; and i hugged it close to my face. then when i looked at it later the screen was back to normal! if you want to know my reaction type in will smith video games on youtube. the moment he enters the room.
Anyways i then realized i might have hugged something back in place and started messing with the slide system for the playstation buttons. artifacts started appearing and disapearing again in reaction. So thats where the problem originated from. its now 12 hours later and its still working. So all in all you were right about it being a hardware problem. :silly:
Still i am going to reinstall the original os. If i google ftf for xperia play will i be able to find instructions on it to do the whole process?

hah No, but i did try that once. a whole different type of flickering.
I have tried the new turbo kernel and pacman rom. normal stuff is a lot quicker, but playing epsxe is actually slower than on lupus ics beta and uh...the rom had before. forgot which one.
most important, my hardware keys arent working anymore. they just don't do anything. do i need to flash an extra plugin to get it working?
*edit*
im an idiot. pacman doesn't say it supports game keys. i just assumed so.
and i just found out that for best performance i'd want lupus gb kernel. from this i can conclude that the thing that was making my first flash slow was the rom and not the kernel.
what would be the fastest rom with camera, gamepad and standard functionality? and is there any difference between 480p and 720p? besides from the difference in quality?

480p doesn't take full screen videos you'll see black lines on the sides but its good enough and gives you more ram

why dont you try to test the roms on my signatures, these are my daily driver roms, if you want more ram but less video quality use 480p if you want better video recording but sacrificing a little bit of ram go with 720p, we really couldnt say which is the best rom because usually once you start flashing rom you would notice there are things that you want thats not in the rom and there are also things that you need that that is in the rom.

actually my plan was to use the lupus v9 kernel and auroraplay rom. after i flashed lupus using flashtool it just did nothng at the lupus logo. even when mashing back or volume down. then i tried flashing the rom to see if that did anything but nothing.
so i flashed back turbo and pacman which is actually really nice. but still slower in games than what i had and the gamepad isnt working. i don't get what i'm doing wrong. flashing it is all i need to do right? i did lupus before so i dont get why its not working.
