Multitouch issues resolved?! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi,
I'm about to order a Galaxy Nexus but then I saw this video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsYoxZiBTEA.
It says that this multitouch problem occurs with the GSM version also. So has this problem been resolved now or is it still apparent? Multitouch is very important for me and could be a dealbreaker if it doesn't work. So has it been fixed in stock rom or maybe any custom roms?
Thanks in advance

No, the multi-touch issue is not fixed, and is still present on Stock 4.0.2.
As for custom ROMS, I have no idea.
It's extremely annoying as i've paid for games I can no longer use.

Only 4.0.4 Roms dont suffer from this bug

Awesome news Hopefully an update will come along some time soon so I can remain stock
Cheers.

yea it was fixed in 4.0.4. I can't remember last time I experienced that bug.
Its a non issue. Strictly software bug. Already fixed and moved on. No worries.
It rarely happened when I was running older software, but if you want to remain stock, the fix is to power toggle your display. Else just flash a newer rom with the fix built in.

Can't speak for stock, but I haven't noticed the multi-touch bug with the exception of some ROM specific 3.0.8 kernels. Whether it's cured, or just not as apparent I'm not sure. I have a GSM phone.

i tried the multi touch app and i don't have that issue.. running google stock 4.0.2

1) Why get a Nexus device to run stock?
2) Why run stock when there is AOKP?
3) What are you doing on XDA if you truly dont want to enjoy your phone?
Hasn't XDA taught your anything? lol

im in 4.0.3 and have beaten wind-up knight, 9 innings pro, gta iii, shadowgun, and cant stop playing modern combat 3 online and no issues here

Do you really think that? So why xda devs not work at Google? And why xda devs didnt make Android os before Google? Oh I know it..xda devs are not able to create it themselves
Seriously...custom roms surely add features, but surely add some bugs sometimes... I like custom roms, but what I mean is that if you have android, you have to thanks Google every day(after you can thanks xda devs)..don't forget it

What I personally never experienced a multitouch bug on my galaxy nexus. I'm on stock 4.0.2 and have the GSM Version. Maybe it's because I have the white version with was released later than the black one in February?

Not even sure what your post has to do with what I said...

I have a black GSM version on stock 4.0.2 and no multitouch issues at all.

This issue os pretty strange... the first time I installed FIFA12 the controls were a nightmare...
Now they perform faultlessly.

Issue is NOT present in stock 4.0.2 GSM. Tested with the same app (multitouch tester) that was used in the YouTube video.

It absolutely is present in 4.0.2 stock, because I have the issue and can confirm it with the multitouch test app and the fact that playing dual-stick games like Modern Combat 3 is impossible because of the bug.

Look, I know how to do all the rooting and flashing because that's what I did regularly with my Nexus One on T-Mobile. Now I have an LTE GN from Verizon, and I will admit I'm a little worried.
With HTC, when the power button was bad, or the phone's earpiece was bad, even though I'd unlocked the bootloader, I identified myself to HTC as a developer, and they honored their warranty.
I bought my GN through Amazon for $99 when moving to my fiance's Verizon account. Who do I talk to if something goes bad with the phone? Verizon? Amazon? or Samsung? And if I've unlocked the bootloader, will they honor their warranty? I've seen that you can relock the bootloader. True? Will it allow me to restore it to stock and re-lock the bootloader for warranty purposes?
I definitely want to get some of these irksome bugs addressed by updating, and I'm honestly not particularly fearful of bricking the phone. My only concern is if some aspect of the hardware goes bad...I want to not be out of luck on the device.
So, has anyone got any experience with this? Has anyone returned a defective GN that they'd unlocked and installed custom ROM stuff on?
Thanks,
Randy

I think I'm OK.

Do you use 4.0.2 GSM version? If yes, it must be a hardware issue, cause on my device multi touch works absolutely flawless. Multi touch tester and Antutu test don't show the issues of the video in the op. Modern Combat 3 works great without any multi touch issue.

Haven't noticed it on AOKP, and I specifically looked for it since I knew of the issue before I bought the phone. So flash AOKP and you won't have to worry about it.

[REQUEST] Galaxy Nexus Cupcake/Doughnut/Eclair ROM

Hey I know this should be in Development Forum but I'm not allowed to post there yet, was wondering if it would be possible for a Dev to make a ROM to run Cupcake/Doughnut/Eclair on the GNexus?
Obviously not for a daily driver but for simple curiosity to its possibility and its speed. I imagine that on such a powerful device such a simple OS would run blazingly fast.
Feel free to repost this in the right forum, actually please do.
AJ
Q: Why the hell would you want to do that ? :| You want fast ? Try a 4.0.3 ROM and that's it. End of story.
I wouldn't use it daily, I just never got to use the old android versions and I think it would be a cool gimmick. If the G1 can run ICS why can't the Nexus run Cupcake?
I'm currently running the AOKP (Kang Project), I'd say its the best ICS ROM I've come across
Why would you ever want to do this? it would be equivalent to taking your PC and putting windows 95 on it.....Why would you. 4.0.3 ICS works fine, it doesn't slow the phone down any, downgrading to an older OS isn't going to show you some amazing massive speed increase.
While it may be possible, I think you can assume from the tenor of the responses so far that it isn't too likely that you'll find a lot of people interested in investing the time to make it happen.

This may be the only constructive reply here, thank you. I just wondered if it would be possible or if anyone else was curious enough to try it. Never mine, I'm holding out for a sense ROM, again not a daily driver just a time to time use thing
as ittekaimus said, you'd be unable to run those.
all those versions of android required physical buttons, so you won't have home, back, or menu unless you added softkeys, would would basically require a rewrite of the original code. and no one is going to do it.

well if I recall this has been asked a few times now...I just dont understand the mentality of buying a gnex to take 5 steps back. You dont go and trade your car in for a vehicle thats 10yrs older do you?

I miss my Galaxy Nexus :(

So I had the Verizon Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean and today I sold my nexus and bought the SIII. I never realized how much software matters over hardware! Sure the SIII has more ram and a slightly better camera but I will tell you while I miss my nexus!!!!!
1. Stock OS - I hate the fact why on my SIII I cant organize my apps into other app folders. I feel like I am running android 2.4 and not 4.04!
2. Jelly Bean- I love project butter (even though the Siii is still smooth) and I way prefer googles voice assistant alot more
3. Build- I think I am one of the few that prefer the the size and material of the nexus. Even though the nexus is close in size, I still feel the
S3 is just too big. Not to mention I prefer the rubberized feel on the nexus.
4. On screen menu keys. Just have not got used to the S3 and dont know if I ever will.
5. Ability to swap roms. Being that verizon has a locked bootloader on the S3 and there are no working Jelly bean roms, I feel by the time
Verizon upgrades to Jelly Bean I will be counting down the days till the Galaxy Nexus 4 comes out!!!!
*****Thinking about selling my S3, but dont want to waste an upgrade on a new phone so just may give it to family and buy my nexus back***
Bottom line.... I miss my nexus
That's why I did not buy it

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
even though you can slap a cyanogen onto a non-nexus device, it will took longer than on nexus. On Nexus, Google update new version, the longest you have to wait is one week before a build is surfacing. But nowadays our dev are super so it only took few hours lolz, and with pretty much everything working most importantly.
With non-nexus, NO~~ it took ages to wait for this driver, that source code wtf wtf bla bla bla~~ I've been there with SGS2 and One X, regretted my choice. and you cant enjoy the true feeling of AOSP too. you'll notice you need TW or Sense for a better hardware experience like the camera, etc etc.
oh as asdfasd2 said, yes i agree. Samsung does sucks with their source codes. CM was long enough on SGS2 and still, after they release the codes, devs are having headaches fixing what were supposed to be fixed. Luckily Nexus S and Gnexus are handled by Google, not them.
i must confess i was feeling a little tempted myself but ever since the nexus 7 release i cant take the damn table off my mind just waiting a couple of weeks to see if a nexus 10 is gonna be release but i cant wait a lo more

Adobe Flash on 4.1 Jelly Bean!

Found this on the Android General discussion forum, and thought I'd bring it to attention here, since we proud Gnex owners are basically THE people rocking some jelly bean version phones, and I've seen many complaints about Adobe flash no longer working.
I take no credit for this guide, simply posting it here for those of us who don't have time/have a life and aren't scanning other forums.
Here's a link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336

Honestly? I personally don't really care about the whole flash buisness... but I don't use it much. Only time I did was when trying to watch streaming video on specific sites, and I've found other, easier alternatives. But there are some people who surf flash based sites on a regular basis, it's understandable they'd be annoyed, I have one friend who didn't want to make the switch to 4.1 because the whole flash issue...
If anyone else was worried about loosing flash support, no reason to now. Make the switch! JB is just worth it...
And people, remember, this is just a temporary way to hold off the inevitable pending death of flash and the rise of HTML5. Support s gone, Adobe announced they'd pull Flash from the app store all together on the 15th of August, and let's be honest, flash has always been a slow, clumsy way to surf the web on mobile (nevertheless, it was nice to have the possibility of running it).
For me, Flash Player carried over from ICS when I flashed the yakju JB OTA, so I had it all along. As I understand it though, all you really ever needed was to sideload the latest Flash (11.1.115.1.12) APK which we've had up in the Dev forums here for awhile now.. Not sure what those extra steps and files are for in the thread you linked.

Try it. Seriously, go into your browser and open up a flash site, let me know if it works... it carried over for me with the OTA, though flash hasn't worked for me since. Also side loading it doesn't help. Sure it gets installed, but that's all it is now. An installed icon in the app drawer. Clicking it and opening a browser for the settings gives me a blank page. Would be interesting to know if it actually works. I thought it did in the beginning, and proudly showed my friend he shouldn't be worried, flash still works. Then I realized I hadn't been on a flash site, and flash DOESN'T work. Oops

It works well for me on JB (Eclipse ROM) and I side-loaded V11.1. I think someone already mentioned there is a 'flash-fetcher' on the market here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modaco.flashdownloader
If you want to be sure you're up to date I think that gets it from Adobe, but I'm not sure, and haven't used that app. I'm able to use flash in the stock JB browser and also in Dolphin, and like everyone, not in Chrome. I'll give you site a try because I don't really use it much but I know it works.

Lag?

I have been experiencing some pretty annoying stuttering on my verizon galaxy nexus . I know, this is a development forum, but this is something I can not figure out. My galaxy Nexus has been lagging, or more lime stuttering. This is not the butter that I experience on my nexus 7. Is there anything I should try, or look out for? I have restored , installed different launchers, forced GPU rendering, but nothing seems to help. I do not think it is hardware, because my benchmarks are fine. What would you recommend me try?? I really didn't want to mess with my phone, but once I get home, if this doesn't work, I might just flash 4.2. Thanks

Just kind of good I am not the only one. I will probably flash to 4.2. Does anybody ha e any suggestions for the two of us? Ty

You on stock? Because I experienced no lag whatsoever when I had 4.1. I would recommend flashing 4.2 but that's your choice

I think it has to be one of the preinstalled apps, that may be hogging the phones for those who use it
Its only a stupid suposition, but who knows? It might be the answer to the lag difference between devices

I'll look around. Google currents lagged my nexus 7 so it is possible
I had two maps running in the background, and Verizon mobile. Closed those, and the phone seems a little bit better, but I will test more .the weird thing is I do not use those, but they arr launched by the application

I recently just cleaned up My device's memory and on my dad's Droid Incredible(he really needs a DNA) and mine and all lags just disappeared.
Cuz over time my phone was getting more and more bloated with useless files and finally I couldn't handle the lag and only saved my downloads and titanium folder and just wiped out everything.
Then afterwards flashed PA 2.53 and I just put those two files on and installed apps that were necessary. Phone was lightning again and no more FC.
Same with my dad when I flashed Pons CM10

If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^

VZW Galaxy Nexus Xperia Z Rom (Teaser + Other)

Hey guys, i recently started making a Xperia Z Rom for the VZW Galaxy Nexus Community. Its still a work in progress and it will be uploaded whenever i feel like its stable enough to be a daily rom. There are alot of things broken right now such as Camera and lots of FC's. This rom will be based of AOKP 4.1.2. I chose android 4.1.2. because i feel that it is the most stable and fastest android version out there right now (And the Xperia Lockscreen would only work with android 4.1). This is fully customized with lots of Xperia apps and things such as boot animation. Right now im working hard to release this soon (Just need to fix some things). This rom will be 450+ MB's in size, <<< Due to all the xperia apps and what not. Im trying to slim it down a bit before releasing it.
Some features
Gapps integrated
Sony Walkman
Sony Sound enhancer
Sony Bravia Engine
Xperia Z Lockscreen
Xperia Z Boot Animation
Xperia Home Screen
Xperia Apps.
Etc... (I dont want to give away to much
A Few Teasers

very excited. alien rom was by far the best rom ive ran on my gnex so i have faith this will be just as good!
Any thoughts for maguro ?
I could be wrong, I probably am, but the only difference between a maguro ROM and a toro ROM: the packaged radios and the build.prop?

Sounds close but radios aren't packaged in ROMs. I think you were referring to the ril files.

Looking forward to this! Thanks for your work!

Yeah... But something makes a GSM Nexus' calls/SMS/3G work while that same ROM on a toro has nothing with the radio.

Yes, the radio interface layer is how the ROM communicates with the radio hardware. On a GSM, the radios are different so the ril would also need to be different to know how to make the communication between the hardware/software properly. Once the radio images are in place, its a done deal, just making sure the ril files are specific to the hardware version the ROM is for. May be more than this I haven't learned yet.
Edit: it appears there are binaries for additional hardware such as WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. that are also specific to GSM/CDMA variants. Not sure there is a difference or why there would be.

Pretty sure the WiFi and Bluetooth binaries are identical between GSM and CDMA variants, WiFi works on the CDMA port of Ubuntu Mobile and all that was changed was the build.prop so it would flash on a toro and toroplus.

That was my reasoning as well, but back to topic on hand, I think this ROM would be very interesting, too bad Alien isn't being developed any more, never tried it but it sounded really nice.

It wouldnt matter if the hardware drivers are different in each rom all i really have to do is test a few modifications to the rom and the rest just add a custom script with all the Xperia Addons. The same way AlienDroid flashed itself.
Most likely i can get a sprint version working almost immediatly. Is there anyone with the sprint model here? I need you to flash a zip on a specific rom. If that works then i can get the sprint version released roughly about the same time as the Verizon one. PM Me.
I can probably make a file that can be flashed on all 3 Gnexus and work properly. Im going to test it a bit.
Edit - Rom is uploaded and read to be downloaded. I will make a new thread tommorow in the VZW section with a download link. For now i need sleep.
Brother please make one for NExus 4 as well...looks fantastic...also..what is thatin the first screenshot? The flip-sort of thing?
