So I bought the app Synker to manage my email accounts with tasker.
I have the Gmail account which is my private account and then I have
the one from my job.
I wanted now that my job account is getting synchronised like this:
If
"0800 to 1600"
and
"Monday to Friday"
then
Sync Gmail + Email
if not
then
sync just GMail
When I check the account under settings/accounts& sync the email account is grayed out, outside from 0800 to 1600 so it should work, shouldn't it?
However I'm still getting emails outside of this times.
I would be really happy if someone could help me with that. Because 1. I bought the app 2. I don't want to get annoyed with work emails outside the time I'm getting paid.
If it's grayed out then it shouldn't sync. Do you have something else that manages sync like JuiceDefender maybe?
Also, just a suggestion, simplify your code by taking GMail out of there since it's always syncing.
I don't use any apps like juicy defender.
And as far as I know I have to use Gmail in that profile. Otherwise it will always getting deactivated. Because Synker deactivates everything which isn't selected.

Hi guys,
Just need a bit of help as Im having a few problems setting up my gmail accounts.
I set up a gmail account when I first got the fone and everything worked fine. Now its stopped downloading my mail...
Ive checked my settings with the ones on the gmail website and deleted and resetup the account but to no avail.
When I force the account to receive mail (and even when I dont) it goes through the motions and connects to my account, downloading headers etc but its as though there is nothing residing on the server. Ive checked if Ive deselected the option to leave mail on the gmail server after viewing it on my pc but it seams fine.
I can send mail.
Help!
Im a bit thick in all honesty and could be missing something obvious but now its a case of not seeing the wood for the trees.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Damian.
Set it up as IMAP. You can find help for that from gmail help.
then it works
imap.gmail.com
imap4
smtp.gmail.com
make sure you use those settings
Still no joy with this, gonna go through the settings again but Im stumped as to why its not working anymore.
Could be there's a very large message in the inbox that's blocking the download. The HD won't download large files unless you tell it to.
gmail uses pop not imap?I had same problem but solved it by going into gmail account settings and enabling pop3
i successfully set up my hotmail in my X1, set the sync frequency to As Items Arrive, intending to activate push mail.
but now everytime i have new mail, i am not notified at all, not even showing of the numbers of new mails in the Today Screen.
i still need to manually go Menu > Send/Receive to update my mailbox.
any1 got solution or what application i need install?
thanks
yes: GMAIL lol
This would be a workaround, but it would work.
1. Create a Gmail account.
2. Forward your Hotmail to Gmail.
3. Set up your Gmail so that you can reply using your Hotmail account. (yeah you can do that...nifty eh?)
4. Go to your Outlook on your phone and set up "gmail-sync" as your push mail account to retrieve from. It's in beta right now but is working 100% perfectly on my Kaiser. (I'm in here because I'm getting a SEX1 in a couple days ) I frickin' LOVE IT - it pushes IMMEDIATELY as soon as the mail comes in. Instructions here:
http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=winmo
5. Now all your e-mails will be stored to your phone permanently too, instead of the inbox getting wiped every time you send receive, or whenever you have your timing set up for that.
6. Forget about Hotmail and start using Gmail lol. Just kidding...but if you set it up that way, you can still use your Hotmail completely, Gmail will be practically invisible to you. (Or is it the other way around? lol)
Seriously, Google's free push e-mail service is amaaazing. I am LOVING it.
ohhh pls tell me how to fwd mails
in aol /hotmail pls
Syncing frequency to As Items Arrive works perfectly for me.
I confirm that both hotmail and gmail works as a push mail on my XPERIA.
For hotmail, you can just use windows live connection setup and choose/set "as items arrive" and set the time as "always". For gmail, you can use the activesync feature on outlook mobile as have been told by deezy7 above.
Or else, you can use the feature from Emoze service.
hi all.
thanks for ur advices.
i did add my hotmail using the Windows Live program, did set to "as items arrive" and did set for "always"
but nothing ever appear in my pjone for new mail unless i do it manually using "send/receive"
i prefer to use my hotmail acc ley.
any1 pls help mi.
thanks

I just set this up and it works Thank u for an explanation
But I have a question. Now only one of my mail accounts deliver mail. Is there an option to set more e-mail accounts to use push mail feature ?
If so how to do it ?

If you would like to have a free account for push mail service you should try Emoze. I have been playing with Emoze and honestly it helps me much to get my XPERIA have numerous mail account which works as a push mail ....
Ok, I did some workaround, created another gmail account and forwarded all my accounts to that one, and I receiving only that one.
Maybe not the best solution , but I prefer not to use online services like mobipush and such where u leave them your user name and password for each account u have...
As an alternative to Emoze i use Seven Beta. It provides near realtime push on most types of account.

Hey icbicb, in response to your other question as well, my suggestion would have been to do what you already did, which is create another gmail acccount I also prefer not to use any other online services, and was very happy when Google came out with Gmail Sync, since I've already been using my gmail account for five years, and don't have to give out sensitive information to yet another company
To those here using other services, I'd suggest you give Gmail Sync a try. Deedee, I noticed you said that Seven Beta provides you with near realtime push. I've noticed with Gmail Sync, and having my Gmail open at the same time on my pc at work, that Gmail Sync pushes in actual realtime! I'll hear the notification on my phone first before my page refreshes to show me my new e-mail! Also, I should mention that I am using gmail plug-ins to autoupdate the screen when new e-mails come in, and the Gmail sync sends them to my phone simultaneously or even before my page refreshes, thus, I know that it is actual real-time. Just like blackberry's service! I'm in love with it right now
icbicb, I'm glad it's working out for you , loyjwe I hope you are able to give this a try...
it's a good solution, but if i transfert the mail from hotmail to gmail they will be of the hotmail box...
And it's a probleme for me...
do you have a solution for that
(excus me for my bad english)
Big advantage of Seven Beta is that it works for almost all POP3/IMAP email systems and it keeps all the accounts separate so that replies from your PPC keep the correct return address.
I have it working on Gmail x 2, Hotmail and a POP3 account and all four accounts are independant of each other.
I said near real time sync as i didn't want to claim real time in case it wasn't. I rarely use the web interface since starting Seven so haven't been in a position to check. As i tell the BB users at work if you have time to compare the two delivery times then maybe you don't need a BB.

Hi titeloo...bad english is okay lol, but, I don't really understand what you mean by "they will be of the hotmail box..." need further explanation!!
@Deedee, gmail does that also....so... for example, when you get mail forwarded to your gmail account, if it was originally sent to your hotmail account, when you reply on the phone, it will reply from the hotmail account. Gmail's set up pretty good that way. I believe right now though they have a limit on the number of accounts you can send mail from, not sure if it is 3 or 4. So it's pretty neat that Seven Beta keeps all accounts separate ...btw very nice avatar
Seven is only restricted by the number of accounts that can be set up in WM, think it's 8 in total, that includes your ActiveSync/Exchange and SMS accounts.
Thanks for the compliment. Always prefer to use real piccies for avatars where practical.
I realised yesterday that about 80% of my email is work-related, and I've had enough of seeing it out of work hours... it's the old problem with push mail, you can become a slave to it and while I'm happy to hear from mates in the evening/weekend, I don't want to hear from work. So what I want to do is have all my mail sync'd in office hours, but only the 20% of non-work stuff out of hours.
All my mail comes into a gmail account, and I use the calendar of that account too, so it has to stay on my phone. One way I thought of doing it is to set up filters for the 20% in gmail and forward it to a secondary account. That's as far as I got! It would be nice to be able to handle it all within the gmail app, but maybe I could use the HTC app in some way, with something like locale automatically switching the sync options around?
Anyone else had to deal with this?
Hey all. I switched over from BB and I love everything about the Incredible except for 1 thing....email. I have my personal email and my work email set up through Gmail (under Accounts & Settings Tab) and I followed the How-To that was put up over at Android Central to use as a push server. Well the problem I have is that when Gmail checks, or fetches whatever it is, it will not grab all the new email that has come in. I travel alot and I rely on my phone to get my messages and unfortunately this one has let me down time after time. I am rooted and I have tried 4 different ROM's, cleared cache in gmail app, along with deleting and readding my accounts. I missed a couple important emails that required a quick reply to get a job but Gmail never got them (online or sent to my phone), it did grab a few messages after that, but missed 5 or 6 again. Any ideas??? If I use the HTC Stock email app I usually set it to check every 15 minutes but that is really hard on my battery. Thanks for any input
Gmail is PUSH there are no options to set check frequency and so forth. Make sure that in Accounts & Sync you have auto-sync and background sync enabled (these are universal features).

Both of those are checked. The frequency check I was talking about is in the stock email app, not the Gmail App. I understand that Gmail is Push, but what I don't understand is why it will get some emails and not others. There is no reasoning behind (same domain, etc.), I did apply a filter so that nothing goes to spam but it hasn't helped at all. Thanks for the reply though, any other ideas?
Do you have multiple e-mail addresses going to the same place?
I would disable POP and IMAP features in gmail options (on your PC). If you do that you won't be able to use Outlook or e-mail clients but you will be able to check your mail in a browser and on your phone with push.
If that still doesn't work then try separating your work e-mail. Have your gmail on your phone be strictly gmail, and then have your work email go to a different folder and have that setup with imap, pop, exchange, or whatever your work email has. This is how I do it.

I'll give it a try. Thanks for the recommendation!
Something I noticed...I set my gmail to sync hourly but it does not do that at all. Both my hotmail accounts will sync hourly but whenever I go to my gmail app, the longest time before another sync was like 22 mins. I emailed myself something through gmail once and although my sync settings were still set at hourly, I got the email 10 minutes later. Idk what's going on with that. I just now put it on manually because I'm pretty sure its turning on my 3G more times than it should.

I actually have several gmail accounts and they sync at various times with my main personal account syncing every 15min... And it all seems fine...

He probably means the Gmail email app you get once you configure a Gmail account on your WP7.
slightly different problem with gmail sync
Hey everybody,
I'm wondering if anybody else is having the same problem as me at the moment ?
I've had the phone a few months now. I experienced a few issues with Hotmail and returned to using Gmail. It used to sync and push emails flawlessly, however it seems to have stopped working which is driving me mad.
When I wake up, i'm used to seeing new messages waiting for me (mainly XDA forum news). However, the push functionality has stopped working. I open my inbox, and see a message indicating email is up to date. However, no new messages are displayed. When pushing the sync button, the inbox is synced and the new messages are displayed, despite the settings set for "as items arrive". Highly annoying and not very productive to have to check for messages manually.
I played around with the settings trying various options, I even deleted the account and started over again (which was a pain re linking contacts etc, all to no avail.
Can anybody help me to restore my push email please ? I'm getting really cheesed off now.
Thanks
Garrickus.
Could it be possible that your phone had synced with G-mail 50 minutes before you sent yourself an email, and then you received it 10 minutes later, after the scheduled hour?
BUMP
go to email account settings and check if it is showing any errors. happened to me once. I re-entered my username passoword and the error went away. Perhaps this is due to Google getting very picky these days as many gmail accounts are getting hacked.
Why not just leave it in 'push' mode? Unless you have a lot of emails every hour, push email uses less data than polling. Gmail's exchange activesync isn't exactly rock solid. Back in WM 6.xx days, I have to reset my account every few weeks.
