Questions like this r more or less preference..
Unless u want atleast 20 different answers I suggest simply finding 1 that works best 4 u as quite simply every1 has different needs for the device and even though hardware wise their almost identical, no 2 ppl use the phone alike. Simply download a few and test, if u find one, just flash a kernel that works best for you, for batterylife look for the list of safe to rwmove apps and remove some.. by disabling the ones u don't need it stops em from runnin n usin ur battery. U can save alot like that

Different roms work better on different phones, even though we're all running the same model. I don't know why that is, but it is. The smoothest rom for my phone by far is Paradox Paradise II, but the battery life is just okay. The best battery life I've had by a huge margin was running Mohk's old rom with synergy kernel. I used to get almost 2 days with moderate use, at at least 1 full day with heavy use. As far as stability, they are all very stable if you install them correctly. I've had minor issues here and there, but they are usually fixed pretty quickly.

Hey all i just got my gs2 a few days ago and i just rooted it well my question would be i like music great sound ect.. what would you recommend..

I'd say, start stock. Then root and then load up kernel that you like. Mess around with overclocking and undervolting.
Once your comfortable with it then load up titanium and start removing bloat, at this point you will have a good idea of what ROM is good simply by installing the ROM and looking at the processes.

[Q][kernal] What's a good one?

I have stock rooted, I love the phone and didn't want to flash a ROM so soon but I was wondering, what's a good kernal thats better than stock, that increases battery while not affecting the speed negatively, I currently get about 10-12hrs on my battery as is
Search doesn't work that well for me on mobile, so sorry if previously asked although I did scan the threads but just wanted to see how you guys are doing with your current kernals
Swyped from my Sgs2 T989
Try tdj's dark side kernel. Very smooth and great battery life. Plus you can overclock and under volt.

Thank you for the info but when you say great battery life do you mean better than stock?

i think there's only about 4-5 options out there... but each phone's hardware is different so each kernel will be different.
For example, my phone works really well with faux and darkside, but i get quite a bit of drain from eugene's kernel (yes I do configure my clock speed and voltages) people say synergy has great battery life and is smooth, however, my phone says different. it lagged more than the 3 mentioned and battery life was equivalent. There is also the bullet kernel... i haven't played with that... not sure if im missing any other kernels... but yeah i suggest giving the first three a try first as they are currently being supported.
reminder, you should let your phone go through at least 2 charges before comparing kernel's battery life etc... and with our phone.. thats 2 days lol
Pretty much any of the kernels on the first page will give you better than stock battery life. Faux, synergy and the dark side kernel are the three most popular kernels amongst Devs so that must mean something.

To be honest, i only ran stock for a few hours. Ive been running a custom rom since day 1. But I believe it would be better then stock because TDJ has undervolted the kernel slightly.
I'm using the darkside right now and so far so good
Swyped from my Sgs2 T989
I've tried most of the popular kernels and the best battery life I've observed has been with Synergy... hands down gives me the best standby battery life.
But what I've noticed that gives me even better battery life is just turning off mobile data when I don't need it (in class, during meetings)... which also turns off the background syncing.
But in the end, it's all up to you how crazy you want to get with your battery management.

what is the best rom for longest battery life

with average daily use
Darkside without a doubt.
You can try UC/UV with Juggernaut since that'd what I'm doing and I get great battery.

Been askedand answered many times..
Inless u want like 20 different answers, keep in mind its a preference, roms are all geared differently, download one u like, try it, n if u dont like it pick another.. try out a mix of roms and kernels to, dont b a flashaphob n plz don't turn down a rom cuz of the theme, that bugs me lol themes r probably one of the easiest things to change.. no offence to themers..
Remember all phones are different too. Some phones respond differently to different rom/kernel combos. I prefer darkside's setup but flash away and see what works best for you
Best Battery + Stability for me...
Darkside Digital Warfare 2.5.1
Darkside .. BUT the ROM feels laggy and slow to me.. JN 5.0 is the way to go

Stock. It's designed for average usage.
Custom ROMs are for above average usage.

Honestly, after months of testing roms and battery life, I'll tell you that the differences in your battery life is on how you use your phone. Here are some tips to get some better battery life:
1) lower screen brightness
2) underclock processor/voltage (slows overall functionality but saves battery)
3) use wifi over 3g/4g
4) turn off 4g
There's always something you need to sacrifice for better battery life. Some roms offer all or some of these "tweaks."

Pretty close allow me to reword:
1.) Disable automatic brightness and lower..
2.) Dont use OC kernels or ones with stock speeds on boot and perhaps if needed use UV scripts if applicable
3.) Only use WIFI/DATA when needed and dont enable both simultaneously
4.) 4 is merged with 3 but heres a new 1, dont use taskmanagers
Find a lighter launcher aswell helps.. theres way to many lol we could go on all day xD

[Q]TouchWiz Themes, Mods, Tweaks, Add-ons, etc...

Have a dumb question in which I am sure a lot of threads have been created about it but I cant seem to find one thread that at least displays what works on our T-Mobile variant SGS3.
What I want to know is what themes work, add-ons, tweaks, etc.
Themes: There are a lot to choose from with the "OMG 19 Themes" aroma install but there are a lot more themes that are located in the other SGS3 variant forums. I've managed to get one of the International version "Glass Theme" to work with a few adjustments. Basically it would be nice to see if there was a thread on here to show what themes work and what does not.
Add-ons:Multi-Window, Ink Effect (Multiple Colors), Pop-up Broweser, Volume Rocker Skip track, Back-To-Kill, Multi-Dpi TouchWiz apps, TouchWiz launcher features, etc...
A lot of these add-ons can be found in some of the TWRoms available but wouldnt it be nice to have a thread that gives us the freedom to have these be installed on any TWRoms?
Dumb thread I am sure but I am bored at work so....
Personally I like aosp roms such as cyanogemmod 10.1 over the touchwiz stuff, i just can't stand using the default stock sg3 rom, it's just annoying in a lot of ways. if you were to switch over to aosp i would give you suggestions on tweaks etc, i get blazing fast speeds of data at 8mb/s i get like amazing battery life, my battery usually lasts 2 days no charge before reaching 14% so I don't think touchwiz has all those features but hey I could give you one kernel that i recomend for you that also works on touchwiz, It's the kt747 kernel.
Here is link for that amazing powerful and battery saving kernel. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871946
make sure you download either touchwiz version or aosp kernel version because flashing aosp kt747 kernel on touchwiz rom will put u in a bootloop.
good luck

Rawdaddy,
One good app i can suggest you find on the play store is the air push detector because that app will save you from malware bastards who make bad software that pushes spam notifications to your phone that drain your battery. air Push detector is like your antivirus or firewall or the malwarebytes of the phone world. it will knwo all malicious apps after it scans them.
i also use the room toolbox lite which allows you to get tweaks mods etc and even edit buildprops but i'd be careful when editing build props or using roomtoolbox make sure you backup your current rom so if u mess up any settings then you can always go back. One of the most important things I can suggest when it comes to watching downloaded movies on your big gs3 screen phone is to use BS PLAYER, u can get it from the android app store.
I've tested every movie player out there and the only one that is perfect and can run every video well without errors is the bsplayer, if u notice mobo player u might not hear sound but see video and mxplayer vice fersa yet bsplayer can play all hd 720p movies very well. I'm an online movie downloader from scene sites.
another suggestion i recomend is to stay away from MIUI roms and also Jovy's roms such as his xperia, it usually takes Jovy about 5 release updates to get things right, i've tried his roms and data doesn't work right and after im done talking to a person the proximity sensor gets screen stuck on black.
MIUI is just complete junk, i'm a crack flasher flashaholic and I know definately that stuff need serious work for people to even consider seriously, they want to imitate the ios look but the whole things is unstable and battery life sucks.
Use Liquidsmooth Rom if you want super stabiltity.
I'm enjoying the cm10.1 and facebook is working on it just fine.
I also dont' recomend installing themes on any cm10 build, battery life will die.
For battery tips I would recomend you clear battery stats before flashing a new rom and drain your battery all the way, let it fully die then plug it in without unpluging at all until it finishes charging and you should notice great improvement.
Also don't keep battery plugged in yor charger overnight after it's fully charged because i heard that puts excess electricity in your battery and phone causing issues and your battery life won't be prolonged.
Well to be honest ive pretty much tried every rom that there is available for us to use. Ive even tried AT&T roms. From stock ics touchwiz to jb touchwiz. Ive tried most if not all aosp roms aokp roms cm roms paranoid roms pacman roms and I'm still not able to stick with one rom.
Most if not all Aosp based roms suffer from screen flickering and the wake up black screen of death. Some roms have features I like while the others have better visual settings.
I recently just went back to TW roms. Thata why I want to know what I can do to improve my experience with these roms.

Umm. There is some questionable advice in this post. Clearing battery stats? Not sure the poster understands what that does based on his other misinformation. You can leave the phone on the charger overnight without any issues. The phone recognizes the full charge and allows it to run down a bit before charging again. In the morning when you pull it off the charger it may appear to discharge fast but that is because it was not a full charge. That is not an issue. Running the battery dry is also bad info. It can damage the cells in the battery. Don't trust me. Do a little research and see if you come to a different conclusion.

Help with finding a rom?

So i rooted my phone a year ago (about) and never did anything with it till now. I'm starting to get the jist of things, but i realized most of the roms that look good to me are for international versions of the Gs3.
So here we go, does anyone know of a ROM with better battery life than stock, android 4.2.2 (optional), a smooth feel and keeps the phone fast, takes up little ram, (OpTiOnAL: pie control I can get it without the rom but it's easier built into it)
Now it does not need to have all of these, just letting you know what I'm looking for
I also have tried liquid smooth and didn't like it. I'm current on Paranoid android 2.54 on android 4.1.2 and not really liking the battery life
One thing that I absolutely need is good battery life, and I'm not quite sure what kernel to get and if I have to under clock it myself or something, or if I can just flash it and that's it

The People's Rom, or Mother of All Roms.. Try them out.. Pie control you can always add later, Both are 4.1.2, plenty of options of themeing (Via Morphology), Kernel choices as well. YMMV on any rom depending on use. But give them a shot see what you think. Ktoonz is the kernel that give most customizable options.

There are 2 ROMS that I know will work for you as far as battery life. They both are also TW stockish. One is TPR and the other is MoAr. One note though ALL phones are different and everyone's taste is different. Both ROMS use Aroma installer so there are options and both are also Morphology approved.

What ROM for my girlfriend? (stable, reliable, great battery life)

Hello everybody.
I've rooted and modded the Samsung Galaxy W of my girlfriend but now i'm facing a lot of strange battery issues: the battery drains really fast and she hates it.
I've tried CM9 RC6 and SlimBean but the problem is still here. I've got no time to waste on trying 20 ROMs so i'm asking you a suggestion.
She was really excited about the stock ROM. It was fair enough for her, apart from the bloatware that couldn't be uninstalled and some random reboots and freeze.
So, i'm searching for something like that:
Great battery life
Stable and reliable ROM
Possibly CM based or AOSP
In my opinion, a CyanogenMod 7 would be great, but i can't find it for the SGW.
Could you please help me?
Thank you!

My honest advice:
Do not consider anything except Stock ROM with Value Pack or CM9.
Its not that those other coders are not talented. But - it's like with those small, heavily tuned / modified Honda Civics driving around: Their owner / creators and other enthusiasts love them for their custom mods, but you really could/would not give such a car to your girldfirend, mother, or whatever.
sooner or later you run into problems that will never be fixed, nothing for daily usage by a non-IT-person.
With beta 6, i guess you mean RC6?
Battery lasting, the missing fm radio and a sometimes not-100%-stable camera would be the only drawbacks i see for it.
Performance and overall fluidity is at least one class over the stock rom, really remarkable.
Maybe there will be better battery performancee with CM9 in the future, as it is not really clear atm, what causes the impacts.
But i think its unlikely that it will ever reach the Stock ROM under this aspect, as the new features are simply likely to consumer more cpu cycles then before.

CM9 RC6 was actually my first choice, because a friend of mine is using it without any problem. Anyway, i've experienced the huge battery drain even with CM9 RC6.
I can give a try to CM9 RC7 but i'm wondering: wouldn't it be better to choose a ROM with the 2.x kernel?

Yes, i meant RC6, sorry.
Sadly, battery performance is crucial for my girlfriend. Anyway, i just want a "normal" battery drain; what i'm experiencing is a very massive battery drain, totally abnormal.
Would you suggest me a Stock ROM with Value Pack? Maybe it's the better choice...
for me battery drains so fast because of to many apps..just install apps only for daily use..

I think the same but she's just like 20 apps, Pinterest, Instagram, GoogleReader, Dolphin, GMail, and stuff like this.
Regarding your screenshot, 17% left after 10 hours is not so great.
This is her phone now:
Can i install a 2.x kernel on CM9 RC7?
like i told you before..i use my old battery and stock 3.0kernel rc7..my battery usually last no longer than 5-6hrs..
you got 16hrs..that better than mine..
if you want 2.6 kernel i think it is better to install cm9 rc2..

5 - 6 hours? How can you use the phone? You can't even go outside for a dinner that you have to charge your phone.
Do you mean that you actively use the phone for 6 hours or what?

You mean these ones?
Black Notes: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483072
RebelROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673875
Bagux Project Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687854
They're pretty old and discontinued but they could be enough for my girlfriend. I'll check them better later.
Thanks!

beside the aosp & cm9..try queen anne's revenge or biohazard..

These ones?
Queen Anne's Revenge: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2161091
BioHazard RoM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927428
They're just customized CyanogenMod, and i've already have problems with CyanogenMod. If i would try CM another time, i would stick to CM9 Unofficial
Even if Queen Anne's Revenge is aimed to best battery life and it's made by an italian (as me ). It's interesting...
I think i'm gonna flash one of those modified stocks! Wish me luck!
At the end of all my tests, i've decided to keep using F.A.W. (Rls 3, from the same branch of Rls 2): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626827
It's simply a powered Samsung stock but it's rocking stable, really fast, enough good looking and with a huge battery life!
Perfect for my girlfriend!
