So yeah just wondering. Like say there was stuff on my phone that I had to get rid of, and make sure there was no way to have anyone access it. Not saying there is, was, or will be anything like that on my phone but just wondering. I'd like to render it completely unusuable so that not even the most skilled techie could get I to it. Mainly want to do this when i get a new phone and have my desire as a project to see if I could reanimate it. Any ideas at all? Besides physical damage like smashing it.

WARNING: BRICKING CAN PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR PHONE AND OS NOT RECOMMENDED TO DO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
But if you do for some reason WANT to brick your phone just install a PD198 from a phone thats not yours.
Once again, I very much suggest that you DONOT do this and if you really want to get rid of your phone after you get a new one, I'm willing to take it off your hands!

Yeah a bit. Watched a few of his "unboxing" videos. Already handy phone completely apart a few times but not really for that reason. Next time I do I'll see if I can do something. I go to a technical school too for electronics and nanofabrication so I could also make any additional modifications to the board if needed.

I see they got it to boot on their Desires and are freakin out, rightfully so. I wonder if the G2s will get a port..if I knew anything about deving I would be over this like flies on sh*t, but alas..I know nothing..
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Thanks for the link. And I bet our devs would love to get it going. I've looked around and the vision seems to be one of the more buzzing forums in terms of development. And I agree, if I could then I would most definitely port it as well. It'll get working on our visions, considering our hardware is more accelterated and powerful than the desire. I know ill be getting the Sensation asap, but the G2 is a great phone and great for flashing roms, etc.

The original Desire got it booting? I know the DHD guys got it booting (without a touchscreen though).
If none of our devs take this up, which I doubt, I'll try port the DHD port of the Sensation. Which I'll fail.
Meh.
Dammit, it was the DHD guys :-(

I completely agree. If my old G1 could run windows98, Sense, and even 2.3 without much trouble then the G2 should have NO problem I would think.

Sure.

That's where custom 2.1/3.0/3.5 ROMs come in.

I think HTC thinks Sense (2.1/3.0/3.5) won't run on the DInc. I also thought that Sense 3.5 was supposed to be the version that didn't require the hardware requirements that 3.0 required, so I would think that would've been the version they could've used instead of 1.0... At this point, I don't think HTC will release any more updates for this phone.
Sad really, cause it's a work-horse.

I think it was more along the lines of this was going to be the last official update so they were not going tto take the time to build 2.1 sense on a device they no longer support. They just wanted to update the base and interlace sense 1.0 and push it out. They did the same with the EVO.

HTC and most manufacturers out there seem clueless. I mean imagine a world where the UOT Kitchen wasn't something developers had to come up with over months of dissecting the phone, but rather a software program that came with your Incredible that allowed you to plug your phone into your computer and make simple color changes and things to personalize your phone.
It's sad really because HTC is so great in some ways - they did afterall, put out the Dinc to begin with. But they do tend to move on to new phones fast...
Thank God for XDA developers!

Its def possible, and was just throwing it out as a possibility. Without actually holding your phone its not really feasible to expect an exact diagnosis. therefore people throw possibilities out for you to check out since you are the one with it in hand.
But whatever, since you feel the need to be a **** I could less give a damn about any further assistance.

if anyone encounters this, i got it fixed
seems the only way is to get back to in-box state (stock and format all ur storage)
then root, flash whatever u want
This happened with all three of the SII's that are in the family and its unlikely that they are all defective seeing as how they are all running on the same ROM. Doesn't bother us much though, we know were the keys are located

Basically I'm helping therinsem with his sense5 project.. and I flashed an experimental ion kernel and it just gave me a blank white screen after the htc logo, so I pulled battery and restored a backup of jellybeer, and booted it to find my touchscreen not working, so I pulled battery and rebooted and it just sat on boot anim for ages and ages, so another battery pull and boot into recovery, but the touch didn't work there either (4ext) and I flashed an ruu to reset it completely and hope it worked again, but no still not working
Any ideas what's wrong and what I could do to fix it?

Have you tried fastboot flashing a non-touch recovery, then flashing a stock-ish ROM (like ARHD) from there? Also, are you S-On or S-Off?
S-off
That was my first plan for the day! Then if that didn't help I thought id try get s-on to restore a standard hboot

It's possible that your hardware failed independent of the software flash. So it is worth a shot.

Try this explanation, I'm not saying that its right but its possible; the kernel was not properly configured and supplied too much voltage to the digitiser, they are very sensitive things and too much voltage could easily cause is too break
