Which tutorial did you read? Try the noob one. Flashing custom ROM and custom kernel will help you play games smoothly even without overclocking. Once you have successfuly unlock bootloader and install custom recovery, you can freely install custom ROM which is extremely fun

Yeah asking how to unbrick your phone. Look I understand being around the root process, o switched time roms twice a day on my fassy. This thing is a diffrent beast. So humble yourself and read because you need s-off. Then flash a recovery then root by flashing Su or installing a Rom. But welcome.
Ps I hate you for getting a froyo filled inc2. Jk lol

If your Inc2 would happen to come with 2.2, the most you would get with s-on is temp-root, no custom recovery, no custom roms, no custom kernels, and you'll lose that temp-root after rebooting. Inorder to achieve permaroot you need s-off. Software s-off can be reversed btw. So run Z4 if you want. Most you'll get is temp-root and nothing further with at, if that at all.

Hi im hoping someone could help me please im thinking of rooting my wifes wildfire but i want a stable rom for it because the wife does not now how to sort any problems out she may have when running a custom rom.
Im wanting to know the quickest way to root and the most stable rom there is for
it im no noob with rooting etc just want someone to point me in the right direction please.
thanks in advance
Hello, you'll find all the tools, guides etc in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
IMO the most stable roms are the sense roms but I have put cm7 stable on my girlfriends wildfire and she has never had any problems with it, in fact she likes it more now as she can customize it better, you know pink icons, wallpaper theme etc etc

Lol if she wants to customize it cm7 is the way to go, the nightlies have more features but I'm pretty sure she won't even notice them. There is a new stable version on the way soon which will have all the new features that are already in the nightlies.

[Q]How TO brick my phone

So yeah just wondering. Like say there was stuff on my phone that I had to get rid of, and make sure there was no way to have anyone access it. Not saying there is, was, or will be anything like that on my phone but just wondering. I'd like to render it completely unusuable so that not even the most skilled techie could get I to it. Mainly want to do this when i get a new phone and have my desire as a project to see if I could reanimate it. Any ideas at all? Besides physical damage like smashing it.

WARNING: BRICKING CAN PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR PHONE AND OS NOT RECOMMENDED TO DO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
But if you do for some reason WANT to brick your phone just install a PD198 from a phone thats not yours.
Once again, I very much suggest that you DONOT do this and if you really want to get rid of your phone after you get a new one, I'm willing to take it off your hands!

Yeah a bit. Watched a few of his "unboxing" videos. Already handy phone completely apart a few times but not really for that reason. Next time I do I'll see if I can do something. I go to a technical school too for electronics and nanofabrication so I could also make any additional modifications to the board if needed.

[Q] Rom?!

Sorry but ive got a pretty nooby question. If you want a rom like the Viper rom, Do you need to root youre device to use that ROM?
Yes. There is no way to flash a rom without unlocking the bootloader rooting the phone and on most devices flashing a custom recovery.

Welcome to XDA devs. You'll find that most of the development forums have "sticky" posts at the top that will explain not only the rules (you'll see one applies to you already) and standards, but also some helpful "noob" guides to get you started.
From your initial question (and follow-ups) it appears you're brand new to android. That's cool, we all were once. Do yourself a favor and do about an hour of reading--straight reading--before asking any more questions. This is not an insult, it will be much faster than asking, waiting for a response, then asking another question ad infinitum.
Finally, specifically to your question: most of what happens here on XDA devs requires unlocking your bootloader and rooting; if you're not comfortable with doing that, this probably won't be the best forum to you. Again, no offense intended. Your fears are well-founded: you could break your phone if you don't understand what you're doing. That said, I'm pretty much computer illiterate, but have had a great deal of success around here by just reading, reading, reading.... and then following directions in the posts (and there's many posts in which people give fantastic step-by-step directions.
So good luck, search the forums, read the forums, and ask questions once you've tried something and it's not working the way you expected. And have fun!

They're right, you don't need to root to flash a ROM. In fact, most if not all custom ROMs are pre-rooted. I'm suggesting you read first to understand what "root" really means; once you have the basics down, the idea of messing with your phone won't seem nearly as frightening.
BTW- another thing about XDA: click the "thanks" button in addition to saying thanks in your comment.
I ported one Viper rom. It was very laggy due to the overclock default of the rom with Screen off, and bulkyness in size.
You DONT need to root your device to use a rom, but you NEED to unlock the bootloader.
There goes your loophole.
So i have to unlock bootloader and recovery and thats it?

[Q] Could really use a backup file of the stock HTC One V phone (as in HTC Sense)

Well, my phone is pretty much messed up and the whole situation is too frustrating for me to even want to think about it anyone. If someone could attach a backup file of their own stock rom that they originally had when they got their HTC One V it would be really helpful. All I want is to return my phone to what it once was but I was too dumb and never made a backup.
EDIT: Also, my phone is GSM if that means anything.
When I jacked my phone up I just downloaded the proper ruu for my carrier and reflashed it that way. There are a few threads on here that has ablink to the ruu download site
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
Sorry, I'm a total noob. :c You could say I was lucky to have even put new rom on my phone. Could you link me the site? I might be able to figure out the rest after that.
Ah, wait. Sorry for the double post but I remember coming across this RUU stuff when I was trying to get it back to what it was. The problem with this was there wasn't a Bell RUU (Canadian company). Is there a Bell RUU out there somewhere?
I'll do some digging around and see if I can find the bell gsm ruu. If I find it ill post link
