hi, maybe the service center just had flashed your rom to 2.3.6, but your defy is no difference from before, you can flash miui as usuall, but you bootloader may be 5or6, be careful of it.

Thanks for the comment as I have today when to motorola service center they have changed my motherboard to MB526 (i.e Defy +) instead of giving me motorola defy (i.e MB525) they are giving me Defy +. Now in that case what should i do. Help me as i m big fan miui and i would like to install in motorola defy plus also.

I have the same problem like you and cant wait for the miui for Defy + Oo

I think you need to flash the froyo bl6 ROM first as I thought that you couldn't flash a froyo kernel on the new gingerbread bootloaders. Could be off tho.

I have used both WIUI and MIUI Pikachu Edition on my DEFY+. WIUI problem was that it didn't have the battery fix, so it charge to ~82% max, but, nevermind, it was slower than Pikachu, anyway!
To use Pikachu you need to flash Froyo BL6 - download link
If you need step-by-step guide, let me know, as I have done that on both mine and brother's defy+!
Cheers!

defy+ and miui install

Hello niksy.
Do you have any new info or suggestion on installing MIUI on MB526?
For example:
1. Is il possible to flash a MIUI 2.4.20 (the final edition) full configured from my old MB525 with clockworkmod?
2. Is there a solution for the Po-Li battery charging level?
3. Is there a better kernel to use berore installing ROMs and wich MIUI distro do uoi suggest on MB526?
Thanks in advance for your kind help.

[Q] Noob Question about flashing Indian 2.59 defy

I have 2.59 Indian defy , I have following questions about flashing
1. Can I revert back to stock 2.59 fw after flashingg to 2.2/2.3 ? So if official update will available there will not be any problem.
2. If yes please post link of downgradable method.
3. Whats the differance
Nandroid backup & sbf & fixed sbf?
4. Are nandrroid backup /sbf/ fixed sbf different for every defy?
Thank you.....
Sorry,i am also a noob for defy. And can you tell me where to edit my personal XDA profile
sent from DEFY noob
1. yes you can.
2. You need to go into recovery, install the nandroid backup of 2.59 and flash the 2.59 sbf.
3. Not sure, though they are same for 2.51 & 2.59
Why would you want to go back to Company firmware anyways... I have Barebones 1.5 which is way better than the company firmware, is much faster (my quadrant score is 1600+), has none of the moto bloatware, everything is very stable...?
And by the looks of it, by the time Moto releases 2.2 in India, 2.3.3 will already be available here (courtesy Quarx's excellent work..!)
Thanks mate....just installed cwm & 2nd init recovery...now confused between barebones or cyanogen 2.3..
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
yeah you can do it
I'd say go with the Barebones 1.5.1, it is a very stable ROM, CM7 still has some niggling issues...
I've been on Barebones 1.4 onwards and I am totally loving it... OC'ed my phone to 300/700/1100 and it is rock solid stable....

Cynogen... its rocks....
Works great on my defy, few niggles but it can carried away..Its fast, stable for me and battery life is better than any other ROM for me..

[Q] MVNO support

i tried to use the spn-conf.xml from this thread, but unfortunately without success...
has anyone tried this or got it working on the defy and has some useful hints for me?
btw. my defy is running on Android 2.2.2 Froyo 3.4.2 179.2 CE Retail DeBlur
thx
has no one any idea????
is someone out there who tried it on the defy?
The same for me
I'm thinking about an update to 2.3 ...
is this problem fixed in the beta 2.3 from moto? or do you mean cm7?
does a 2.3 of moto already exist?
no, i'm thinking about cm7
where can I find the original moto v2.3 version?
I've a red cam version, so i don't have to care about the green cam
what about my inital post?

[Q] Defy with froyo 2.2a please help

Hi frendz.
Today i got my defy which has froyo 2.2..
I am already loving it..
Unfortunately it has green lens.
My battery lasts for only 1 day on this stock rom..
For example say battery is fully charged and i start watching movies say 2 hr movie
i can continuously watch on 2 movies..brightness is set to 60%.
so i wanted install custom rom which has better battery backup.I went through the forums OMG!!! so many custom roms??..Which is better with least bugs please tell me..I have few questions please answer ..
1)How to install custom rom from scratch.
2)I want downgrade option to stock rom which i have now for warranty reasons.
3)Links for cm7 rom which is best with least bugs and best battery backup..Coz i see cynogenmod defy device database has no links in it.
4)Can i upgrade to gingerbread custom rom without flashing gingerbread official rom and can i again comeback to stock rom if something goes bad for warranty claiming??
5)Is miui rom best than cm7..And if so then which version..
Please help frendz...
Thanks for everyone..
1. You need to root your phone first before you can install a custom rom. Look for Superoneclick. Once you have done this you need to either install derfy2ndInit from the market or downloaqd RSDLite 4.9 to your computer.
2. To downgrade to stock rom you will need to use RSDLite with SBF JRDNEM_U3_3.42_117-002. This will return you defy back to 2.1 then use the motorola upgrader to 2.2. Your defy will be unrooted and back to stock.
3. Never tried CM7.
4. There is no Gingerbread stock rom. You can upgrade and come back again as in answer two.
5. I have always used MIUI and the latest version is 1.9.2. There is a built in updater and the rom is updated every Friday 11.00 BST. The choice of roms is always down to the individual depending on what you want from it, as I have only used MIUI I am not in a position to make judgement.
I hope this gives you pointer in the right direction but please have a good look through the forums as most if not all your questions will be answered.

Hi, i hope thats all what you needed on Information ...
System: 45.0.1320.MB526.Retail.en.DE
Android: 2.3.6
Baseband: EPU93_U_00.60.00
Kernel: [email protected] #1
Build: 4.5.1-134_DPF-132
thats all i hope so ...thx a lot
After flashing a another rom, the defy don´t boot only the White LED is on...
Battery is full...
Please, can someone help me....
Once you flashed 2.3.6 there's no going back to Froyo kernels. New bootloader (v6) doesn't allow them so you can flash only 2.3.6 SBFs.
Is there maybe a version who supports the camera..thx
None of the 2.3.x builds support the Green Camera Module. You can try and root your device and apply Greenbread mod. If that doesn't help AOSP roms like CM7 , MIUI might aid you.

Doesn't Greenbreadmod install a Froyo kernel - which will cause a bootloader error and you need to flash an sbf to fix it.

OTA update from DFP-125 to DFP-231 gives you an unrootable phone

Hi all!
This is my very first post here, although i`m quite familiar with most topics related to our defy`s.
I`m starting this post because i need to share my experience with the latest and the greatest mistake I ever done since i have this phone, so all of you who are considering to update, be aware!
So, i flashed yesterday in my red-leans defy the GB 2.3.5 rom (to be more precise 4.5.1_DFP_125) and got this message from moto that there is an update to DFP 231. My rom was a bright clean one so the update process went smoothly and the result is a wonderful 4.5.1_DFP_231 rom with Bl 7 and unrootable (yet).
Although the rom is excellent and everything works as it should be (quite fast and great battery life for a full-blur rom), you must be aware that the absence of root limits almost all the fun part that the hardware of your defy (or defy+) is able to deliver. Keep this in mind before updating your bl6 (rootable) rom.
Sorry for another post on this topic but being new in this forum i`m not allowed to post in the development section of defy (where I firs intended to write).
A similar thread you can find here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523950 )
If somebody knows a way or will find a way to root all the new Bl7 roms, please share. Until then cheers from vazduh.
Being an android newbie and a Defy+ user, maybe my respond is irrelevant and sorry if it is.
My rom version was 6. I made the OTA update from DFP-125 to DFP-231, which also updated the boot.img, probably making it version 7? as you're saying.
Then I flashed a full DFP-125 sbf with version 6, and everything was fine. Rootable as ever.
So, the problem you're describing is that there is not a full sbf you can use for the first defy to do something like this or I'm totally missing the point? I though only a full sbf with CG31.smg could destroy the downgradeability.
i dont know what firmware i have before in my MB526, remember only android 2.3.6, my phone download 16mb via OTA and i have BL 7 and DFP-231. Can i try uptade sbf to DFP-125 ?
My phone had 2.3.5 when purchased.
I can flash this version 6 rom after the OTA update.
I wipe and use DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-125_BLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_UCADEFYEMARAB1B80AA004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTES_P025_A023_M002_HWp3_WIG148097_Service1FF.sbf.
And everything goes factory default.
If you have flashed a version 7 full sbf, I think that the downgradeability is lost.
Why don't you guys try the ZergRush exploit or GingerBreak ?
Herpderp Defy.
not work for me, phone launch only DFP-188

is your phone defy or defy+ ??? which variant ?? the post you have given has amused me cause as far as i know defy wasn't supposed to be upgraded to 2.3.6 . and u have only stated that you mobile is red lense defy that is also basic defy with bayers module variant but not defy+ . so kinda confused . can you tell which variant is urs ? is it defy with red lense ? or defy+ ?
From DFP 231 no downgrade just to 188
no root
no downgrade
(yet)
just wait
188 and 231 (or 2311 / 2312) are all on BL7, so downgrading 231 to 188 should be possible...
but there is no way to root these roms (for now)...
@joydeep:
i think he has got an defy+, cause there will never be an OTA to gingerbread on Defy
and i really have to say:
ON EVERY THREAD WITH UPGRADING TOPIC IS A BIG RED TEXT THAT DOWNGRADING / ROOTING IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR 188 AND UP

My phone is a regular defy with red leans, but after i flashed the defy+ oficial 2.3.5 ROM (DFP-125 for UK as i remember) i suppose that it "became" a defy+. This is why i received the OTA update message from moto to update to DFP 231 (which i know is a BL7 ROM). After the update process, i tried to root the phone with Superoneclick 2.3.3 and failed (never failed before, with previous ROMS). So my coclusion is that the 16 MB OTA update delivered me a 4.5.1 134 - DFP 231 rom which is not downgradeable and unrootable yet.
And yeah its amusing to now how easy can transform your defy into a defy plus (btw i didnt experienced any problems regarding battery indicator or camera issues. In fact the phone runs flawless after the update)

Strange. I myself tried to root the new OTA-updated 231 ROM and failed with every known method (known by google search at least), but i admit that i didnt try to re-flash the old 2.3.5 rom (451. 134 DFP 125) for the simple fact that a assumed it would be impossible, resulting in black screen. But i now have a full 231 UK sbf and perhaps would give a try to reflash 2.3.5 rom. It least this is what i understood from your post.
Cheers

its a defy RED lens regular, but because the hardware is identical with defy+ it was considered as a defy+. The only difference i know between the two phones is the battery (processor: OMAP 3630 but i know it says that defy has 3610 and defy+ 3620, no... its the same; GPU PowerVR SGX530, 512 RAM and so on)
I also have a regular defy in which I flashed the 2.3.5 Offical SBF so in a way it became a Defy +
I also received the OTA update, which changed the screen lock btw, and I noticed that it took away my root. I tried with Superoneclick 2.3.3 and 2.3.2 and they both failed. I also tried to flash the 2.3.5 Official SBF and it resulted in a black screen and wouldn't boot. So after 2 restless hours, I found the 2.3.6 rom and my phone was brought back to life.
But now I still have no root.. Does anyone have a solution?

Not yet, and a I have a nasty feeling that we will have to wait a bit longer... As I read around the topic i understood that the new roms which have Bl7 came with a new script or something and this is why the old rooting methods didnt work. We need new stuff
On the other hand its a good rom, no complains about it, except root ofc. Keep digging
