[Q] - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hi, I just bought a Droid Incredible 2 supposedly with a clean ESN...however when I tried to put the Droid Incredible 2 on Page Plus, the rep told me she couldn't do it because the ESN wasn't clean after all. I have a broken palm pixi with a clean esn and I was wondering if or how I could put the Pixi's ESN or MEID on my Incredible 2. I posted it on Craigslist for trade as a Bad esn phone but I really do not want to get rid of it. Any help at all would be amazing.

You cannot change a phones esn

Incorrect you can change a phones esn but it is not wise:
It is not easy at all.
It is very very illegal. Consider it like taking a cars VIN so it can be stolen.

so in other words, for all intensive purposes you can't change the ESN of a phone.

[Q] Bad Esn Evo

I have this bad esn Htc Evo and i wanted to see if there is a way to make it clear by hacking it or configuring
And just how did you stumble upon this EVO?

Well, most bad esn's are that way for a reason and a very good reason. I have heard of clearing the esn before but I think it has to actually be done through the carrier. I'm not 100% sure on that but if I remember correctly that was the only way. If you came across this phone by "accident" you might go in to a store with it and see what they say. I've returned phones before and got discounts and credits.

Shhhhh....not supposed to ask that.
That has to be done by someone at Sprint
As some else said why is it bad, is it stolen? If it is I would return it to Sprint so the rightful owner can have their phone.

Thank you all for your responses I got this evo since I lost it and report it lost and few weeks later I found it in my aunts house so now I have two the one I'm using and this one which is reported lost aka bad esn

If you used insurance they may not have reported to sprint. It may not be bad.
In other country carriers work with the bad esn?

well for starters theyre going to take that phone from you if its reported stolen and has insurance, and second once a phone has an esn assigned to thats it your best bet is to try another service provider, usually one of those prepay like cricket will flash phones not sure about the epic though.
Hmm why would you buy a stolen phone? Have sprint contact the owner and give it back to them for what you bought it for.

..ill buy it for 50.. lol
This sounds fake

I dont think this thread is legal at all. Track the owner and get your $40 before you end up getting the charge.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Little known fact, most states have a "receiving stolen property" law with punishment equal to actually committing the theft. Some of those laws have no qualifiers, so whether you know something is stolen or not is not a defense in some states.
Sent from my Epic 3g
Well this is not fake at all...i odin bak to stock n its workin in perfect condition....m not gonna use any mobile network on it....coz for it i have my g2 n a vibrant.....m gonna use it as a multimedia device.....for playin games, music and takin pictures etc.....

Its nice to know if my phone gets stolen there's people that won't even try to find out if they can get sprint to search for the owner. And would rather take a phone somebody paid $400 for and use it as ipod. What comes around goes around
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
+1 too bad the owner didnt have the gps tracker or lookout running while that screen was locked. Id kick your front door in for less than $500 with pleasure and gps tracker would put me in your front yard.

Karma is a mother, you'll get yours.
Sent from my Bonzai'd Epic 4g.
Turn it in to see if its stolen for a fact. If your going to keep the phone and you know its stolen, which im going to assume you know its stolen because you won't call sprint, then your no better than the thief who stole it. I hope you do the right thing.
Sent from my Shoe.... I mean my Samsung Shoe.... I mean my Samsung Epic
If its not fake your an idiot, they have your ip , if they wanted to they could report you for receiving stolen property. I hope they do.
I don't believe anyone should be helping you

Missing Something
You know guys i think the OP is an idiot who is missing something. Hmm i can't put my finger on it. Its on the tip of my tongue. OH YEAH...... ITS A CONSCIENCE!!! We have a lot of Devs here who are good with computers. Someone should track this idiot down and force him to turn the phone into sprint. I mean really come on.

(q) sprint insurance replacement

I lost my epic touch and got a replacement after my 100 deductible I have since found my old phone... Will I have issues if I try to sell? A bad esn?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Yes the insurance company locks the ESN before they process your new phone I believe.
A bad ESN phone can sell for parts for 100 bux maybe a little more so you should be able to get your insurance deductible back selling it.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I believe that part of the insurance agreement for a lost phone is that if you find it, you need to send it in to asurion,
So.... send it in to asurion.
I believe if you call sprint or maybe assuron you can tell them that you found it and they'll reinstate the esn. I wouldn't make a habit of it but I've seen folks do it before.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
$100? Ill buy it.
Sent from my M865 using XDA App
bad esn ET4G's are selling for 250+ on ebay.
a quick example being this:

Back in the day I lost my treo pro and filed a claim. Found it a few weeks later and called sprint and the cleared the esn. That was a couple years ago though so I don't know if the policy has changed or if I just got lucky at the time.

Can I just swap Epic ESN's

I dropped my epic yesterday cracked the touch screen.
If I just buy an epic with a bad esn locally and program it with my broken epic's GOOD esn should I be good to go?
Or is their more programming involved?
Switch the screens then be done with it
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, swap the motherboard or screen, one way or the other as Marcus stated.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
ugg I tried swapping the screen on my brothers epic what an utter pain in the ass seperating them.
But yeah swapping my motherboard with the bad esn phone was my backup plan

[Q] ESN cleaning?

this is a new one to me.

A PERSON AND THERE IS A ACCOUNT ON THE PHONE AND YOU CANT ACTIVATE YOUR SERVICE BECOUSE
OF THAT WE CAN CLEAN IT FOR YOU NOT A PROBLEM,

Probably just cloning a donor phone ESN, which is illegal and something you could do yourself if you wanted to.

Sometimes it happens by accident too.
Yeah but knowing that they fix the bad esn, people there would just buy bad esn phones instead of new ones or good used phones.
I picture this store being run by a bunch of Russian mobsters.

Lmao. Or "I clean your ESN phone, or your brain cleans my bullet, pay me now and take shot of vodka with me" that's the type of place you back out of slowly cuz you're afraid if you turn around you'll get kabonked on the noodle with an empty vodka bottle. "In russia you don't clean ESN, ESN cleans you!"
I like to break stuff!

if this ad is for a "legit" but "illegal" esn cleaning service... what they actually do is remove the ESN from the "blacklist". some people can remove it if the ESN is listed as "fraud".. some can clean it if the ESN is listed as "non-paying customer".. and some can do both.
so.. a true esn cleaning service properly removes the "bad" tag on the esn in the sprint system. I suppose a REALLY shady "company" would try to do something like just editing the ESN.. but I'm not sure who would try to pull that off as "cleaning" since you'd know the esn/meid was different than your original immediately. something you'd have to ask about

I knew a lot of Sprint care people who are known to do that. I don't know how they got away with it.
