USB cable for cf card readers? - Xoom Accessories

Hi
Have been Googling with little success
I'd like to use my xoom to backup and rate my photos in the field, which are recorded on cf cards, most of the card readers I own have a mini USB Jack, or the bigger, squarish one
Unfortunately all the cables I can find always to go a usb a (flattish, regular connection for computers)
Does anyone know where I can get an adapter to adapt usb a to micro, or any other bright ideas as to get pictures off a cf?
Thanks

SD card reader?

Hey guys, is there an external card reader that would plug into the micro USB port on the captivate? I've been searching for a while but all I can find is micro SD to SD card adapters when I would like to import photos from a camera right into the phone
It would be a shame to have to just use micro SD cards to use the internal slot. Thanks!

I dont know of one that exists. But if youre trying to import your pictures you are going to be better off just inserting the micro sd into your phone and then copying all the image files to the phone. Its essentially the same process you would do if you had an external SD card reader except you actually have to put the SD card in the phone.
here u go.

I'm not sure that there is such a beast that would plug into the microUSB, and if there was, I'm not certain that the Captivate has the functionality/interface to read and copy from the microUSB Slot. I'm pretty sure you need the computer as a go-between if the microSD isn't in the phone itself.
I think your best bet is directly putting the microSD from the Camera into the Cappy or you'll have to upload them to the computer first, then to the phone. Sorry
I've always wanted something like that, its a great idea but such a thing doesn't exist. Closest thing would be to get the flash drive adapter with the microSD slot built in.

Yeah, that's not really possible. For one thing it's a jack, not a plug. For another, it would need to power the device attached to it while still being able to be powered from the same port for charging. For another, it would need to be able to configure as a device or a host which would really be hard. And another, it would need to have drivers for SD readers, FAT, NTFS, and all kinds of other things.
this would probably be you best bet

Wow. I stand corrected. That's a really flexible controller chip. They should have shown a backup battery being used as well in the pics too.
a kernel with USB HOST mode,
a USB OTG cable
a USB to micro USB cable
a USB card reader
a SD to microSD adapter.
and you can do exactly what you want....
but you will need a back pack to carry all your cables and adapters.
One step could be saved with this

But nobody sells it, and who wants to splice USB cables?

This part is odd:
- With own browser and ES browser
- File system format: FAT32 (does not support NTFS)
in general for any phone or tablet
an external hardrive like 1 or 1.5TB with USB will be a dream, u can power the drive with extra USB. But what about powering device with the screen? I think it will run out of juice much faster in this kind of setup. Your thoughts?
From the research I have done, it requires an org cable, an USB y-cable for hooking up an external power, and a from with org support. The two cables can be found on Amazon for 2-5$. You could use any USB charger or for portability... get one of the battery packs with USB output. Portable, but it is a lot to carry around.
You can also use a powered USB hub in place of the y cable.

[Q] Can I transfer photos from camera to GNex?

Can I transfer photos from my camera to a Nexus over USB?
When I search I find lots about transferring pictures from the Nexus to a computer, but nothing about camera to GNex, so I'm probably missing some obvious search term. I don't yet have the phone so I can't test.
Of course you can.
Just find a mini to micro USB cable and plug into camera and Nexus?
thanks
There seem to be apps to view RAW files (nef, cr2, etc.), so I take it there's no native support?

No that won't work with what your saying. U need to buy a micro usb otg cable. Then get the app stickmount and then u should be good to go. I have used a phone on my phone and it has worked fine. So I'm sure ur camera will be fine as well

Aha!
Are there micro usb to mini usb otg cables? The closest I can find is micro male to standard usb female ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/Data-Cable-...ccessories&hash=item43b0e7fd2f#ht_3011wt_1066 ), to which I'd attach a mini to standard USB cable
Root phone and get stickmount
voilà
I would find a right angle micro usb otg cable. And I haven't seen an otg cable that had a mini out on from the micro side

Micro USB Micro SD host?

Hi guys,
I´ve read somewhere that you can plug a USB on the HTC One X and it will recognize it as mass storage, hence allowing you to play videos, music, etc from there. I was browsing on ebay and and all I could find was a usb to micro usb cable. I want to know if there is something like a micro usb pen drive that takes micro sd cards, so that I can keep things as small as possible with this solution. I don´t know if I made my self clear
32GB Micro SD card goes inside the pendrive -> the pendrive goes directly into the HTC ONE Xs´ micro usb input
Update: looking around I´ve found the Technocel UV9BB that can power up the phone (600 mAh), it has a usb and a micro usb. This basically turns the HTC ONE X into a duck taped version of the HTC ONE X PLUS My question is, can the One X read the micro sd and play videos from there using this device?
Here are some links

R: Micro USB Micro SD host?
Yes I do it with my action camera only problem is videos are not always fluid and smooth.they lag a bit
Sent from my wonderful One X ruined by the worst phone producer... h....t.....c.....
I´ve received the Technocel UV9BB but it doesn´t seem to recognize the micro sd card when I plug it into the HTC One X. Do I have to do something to activate it?
I would also like to use this device with the DSLR Controller app on the HOX. Their website says the HOX is compatible with this app (http://dslrcontroller.com/devices.php).
Any thoughts?

Transferring images from DSLR to Tablet, how do you do it?

I use to have an iPad and used their camera connection kit to transfer photos from my DSLR for some on-the-fly editing. I was wondering what options are out there for this tablet. My DSLR uses CF cards if that makes any difference.

I am guessing you are not using RAW files, since the poor tablet will be seriously underpowered to do genuine work, plus there is no way to properly color-calibrate the device, making retouching mostly pointless.
With that said, get a USB card reader and a cable to connect, and you should be good to go:
USB OTG (On The Go) lead and just connect it straight to your DSLR's USB cable, or a Compact Flash reader.
In the UK you can get USB OTG leads from Poundland, unsurprisingly for £1 so they shouldn't be expensive elsewhere.

Correct, I shoot RAW, but when I know I will be putting some on the tablet I do RAW+JPEG.
Thanks for the tips guys, I found the USB OTG on a few sites for about 2 bucks. Good stuff :good:
I use a usb otg adaptor and an app called RAWDROID to view raw files, the gpad has no problem handling the larger files for me.

I'm currently waiting to get my LG G-Pad (was on a budget for a birthday present and this tablet was going cheap and it looks a nice device! It's sitting staring at me until the 12th!) but I was hoping to use some of the functionality that I had on the Toshiba Folio. If it works it might be useful for you too!
I connect my Canon DSLR to the tablet via USB and then use http://dslrcontroller.com/ to take remote control of the camera (I have a 10m usb cable I use so I can place the camera near a bird bath or something). Pictures then get downloaded to the tablet automatically. Then if I want a rough mock-up of the picture I open the jpg version in Photoshop Touch.
Doesn't replace a decent, proper configured workstation, but it's quite good fun!
So if you have a canon it's quite a fun way to transfer pictures to the tablet. Not sure if it works on GPad. Hope so!
Nice one. Did not know there was a 10 m USB lead....thought they end at 4+ meters. Can you post a link to which one you have please?

USB-C Hub - no keyboard/mouse or HDMI signal

Hey guys,
I got me an Aukey 4 USB+HDMI, USB-C hub. I've plugged it in but can't get anything to happen. I plug in a USB wireless mouse, nothing happens. I plug in a USB keyboard, nothing, no lights on shift lock/num lock, nothing. I plugged in an HDMI cable and, although the screen seems to be getting signal (It doesn't auto-power save) i can't get anything to show on it.
Have I bought an incompatible hub? Am i not doing something important?
Thanks!
are you conecting it directly? I tried to read a sd card just using the little adapter and a card adapter, and, could not, then tried with the BIG ONE included, this time it worked, mi conclusion is that you need always this BIG adapter in order to read external, mouse, keyboard, etc.
The little one is not usb otg compatible!!!

But then what would be the point of USB-C port if you have to adapt it back to a standard USB port? In addition, you would probably also lose the video functionality.....
I'm beginning to wonder if I needed to buy a powered USB-C hub?
edit: btw, I have a USB-C micro-SD card reader and it works fine directly connected although, it only works one way up, so much for being a reversible format!
From what I know Note 7 don't has MHL, so cannot connect to HDMI.
