Is there a Micro USB adaptor or a way of getting the tab to read my SD card?
buy that [Official Samsung USB + SD card Adapter]
http://www.expansys.com/samsung-con...-10-1-30-pin-to-usb-30-pin-to-sd-slot-219891/
And how will I get this for usa?
Get the Samsung USB Connector from Best Buy, go to their website and search for SKU 2837365. The price is $19.99 and it allows you to use just about any Micro SD USB reader. It also works with USB sticks, mice and keyboards! I got 2 of them from my local BB. Picture attached.
The best Micro USB card reader is one that I got from Micro Center, it's made by SIIG and is super tiny! It's just about the same size as the Micro SD card itself, you just can't get any smaller and it's only $5.99. Picture attached and here is a link to purchase:

Here's a picture showing the USB connector attached to my Tab. You can see in the notification area that it recognizes the USB device attached, and you click to safely unmount when your done. When you plug in the adapter with a storage device it automatically launches the file manager and goes right to the drive. It supports copy/cut/paste from/to internal memory and the attached storage.
Thanks so much for your help I happen to have a 10 dollar gift card for bb and microcenter is right around the corner not to mention there's not many of them out there
Check out the reviews of that micro usb card reader. Many of the reviews on amazon say it doesn't last very long...
Try this one:

Both look interesting. Might try the amazon one first. Just picked up the USB adapter at BB.
They are just getting their GTab display setup and didn't have any on the shelf, so might have to ask around. Had a really helpful guy looking for me and he went all over the store and in the back before locating them in a cupboard in the phone area.
Thanks for the info.

I had that one. For some reason, it fit too snugly in the Samsung adapter, and the plastic end broke off when I tried to pull it out. Trashed the MicroSD card as well.

Truth. It's a pain taking out a regular usb drive. I can't imagine how much harder it is if the thing was micro.
I forgot I have a $5 reward cert for BB, I may have to get the usb adapter from them with it before it expires. I have a very small microsd usb card reader but problem is that it kinda gets warm when I have it plugged into a computer/usb hub. It is like the one below except it is orange.

I would rather use a usb thumb drive or sd card since they are much cheaper for larger GB amounts, problem is finding one that is small. I wonder if any thumb drives are setup to be used at a right angle?
ariel123, You need a Micro SD card reader, this thread has links to 2 of them, one from Micro Center and one from Amazon.

It's a black TPU case that I got off of eBay. Fits the Tab great and feels really nice.

Aargh, why didn't I pick one of those usb connectors at BB when I was in the USA (where I bought my tab).

Thanks for the info I sort of figured it out self it works quiet well now I can transer sings from my tab to the ad card my car radio has
Now will these adapters allow you to play music, movies and pics from the card or is it just used to transfer data back and forth?
Just wanting to know what would happen if I attached a Micro usb to my phone with a female usb end
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-Femal...cessories_Cables_Adapters&hash=item45fd574d6b
and then attached a SD card reader to it.
Would it bring up external storage on the phone or would it just do nothing other than confuse the phone?
Just wanting to know before I go out and buy
Thanks In advance
It would just do nothing at all I think because I don't think the One X supports USB Host and I presume these are pretty similar things

Hi again
I was also wondering if it's possible to swap internal memory with a microsd card connected via a micro to USB cable using a card reader or can it only be done with internal microsd slot ? And also a stupid question but thought to just ask. Is it possible to transfer videos or files from a microsd card (card reader)/flash drive to the galaxy note 2 using that same cable ? I don't currently own the note 2 but I will soon. I'm just waiting to see if a 32gb will become available by the end of this month. Thanks so much for all your help !
What you're looking for is an OTG (on the go) cable... It'll allow you to connect usb devices to the micro usb, including keyboards, mouse, hdd, and even usb drives. You'll need to be rooted in order to use one though.
Swapping memory .. Etc

No that's the cable I'm referring to when I say 'micro to USB' cable. I'm wondering if you can swap internal memory of the galaxy note 2 for a microsd card connected by that cable using a card reader (with the microsd in it) or can you only swap internal memory with the microsd card in the phone and also if files or videos can be transferred from the microsd or a flash drive using that cable to the galaxy note 2. Thanks !
does this exist? for any phone?
an external battery you attach to your phone's micro USB and a microSD card reader (like one would do with a usb on-the-go cable and card reader)

I think he means an external battery with an SD card slot. Since the N5 doesn't have a removable battery, an external battery would have to plug in to the microusb port (there are some that I think replace the back, but I'm not sure how well they work) which means he can't insert the meenova reader.
to OP: I have not come across something like this. I suppose it's an interesting idea. Not sure how would do this without making the phone too bulky.
Or a microUSB microSD OTG device that allows pass thought for microUSB power would be very handy

With most manufacturers removing micro SD card slot from their flagship phones, Oneplus included, has anyone been able to expand storage through USB OTG? I'm currently on a different older phone, which has micro SD card slot, and I recently expanded my storage by replacing 256GB card with 1TB one.
While my OP9Pro is on the way, I'm thinking of purchasing a small USB-C micro SD card OTG adapter (something like this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B09L4NDV4T), unsolder the USB-C plug and insert a short ribbon cable between it and PCB. Then plug it into USB-C on the phone, and tuck the PCB with micro SD card inserted somewhere between the phone back cover and a case.
This obviously will require some case modding/dremeling to avoid bulges, but my biggest concern is whether or not I'm able to solder the microscopic leads on the USB-C connector and whether this whole setup will work anywhere close to internal micro SD card on older phones.
Am I dreaming or has anyone attempted this before?
Interesting idea, I'm curious how it works if you try it. Although I can't imagine needing that much internal storage all the time. I just have a dedicated 1TB USB-C flash drive that I copy stuff to that doesn't need to stay on my phone all the time.

I didn't mean that I need all 1TB right now. I went from 256GB -> 1TB and currently have over 550GB free space left. However, I do backups (apps, using SwiftBackup, and TWRP backups). App backups must be on the phone all the time, since it's automatic and syncs to OneDrive; TWRP don't have to, but I like to carry them around just in case.. I also save all camera photos/videos to SD card. So it all adds up, and 256GB on the phone that I'm getting will feel tight.
I'll try this idea and update this thread if it's at least somewhat successful.
Would it not be easier to get a lil usb c extension cable and somehow modify the phone case than the actual phone itself?
The storage expansion card for Xbox Series X/ S delivers an additional 1TB of external memory while maintaining the same peak speed and performance of the console's internal SSD for a streamlined gaming experience.
Unfortunately, guys, using USB OTG is not an option. I recently tried to use the above-mentioned USB-C adapter without worrying about it sticking out too much, just for the proof of concept, and found that the card gets too hot, i.e. it's using a lot of power. This will kill the battery very quickly.
So this makes the idea a non-starter.
