Have to agree here - the official CM7 version is very, very good. Our devs are rapidly finalizing CM9 too, but it's not ready for prime time yet.

Hey,
i tried to install it to my MB525. after installing the zip file i tried to reboot it, but it only showed up the boot screen for some hours. Now the phone turned off and doesnt start again?
I tried to plugin it into my PC but the only thing that happens is that the LED turns on (white).
Is there a way to restore it, or is it completely destroyed?
Thank you for help
Edit: sorry, right after posting it i tried to plugin it again and now I can see the Boot screen again
But i only saw it for some minutes and know it is turned off again. (except the LED)
Edit2: sometimes when i try to start my defy i can access the boot menu but then it turns off after some seconds, too :/
Do you know something to fix it?
Man this is the big problem...now I m confused for installing that zip...and i dont know the solution...
Experts plz help us...
Thanx...

Does that mean you got your defy working again and you only want to try upgrading again, or do you have the same phone two times?
If you was able to restore your Phone: how?
first for sack148, did you wiped dalvik cache on recovery mode?
can you reach recovery mode?
now for shaggy
dude, it's safe, just don't forget to wipe dalvik cache, it can be the answer for sack148's problem
oh, and sorry for didn't mentioned it before, i didn't wiped dalvik cache and my defy works, :S
sorry again

just make sure you have a nandroid copy of your stock rom and a fully charge battery

you don't really need a nandroid backup, it's just in case of something goes wrong, but, you always have all versions of stock sbfs here on XDA.
just follow my tuto, and you should be fine
Dude after installing cyanogenmod 7.1.0, my defy is not going further the boot screen untill the battery is drained, I am also unable to access the boot menu.. Please suggest the solution...

I dont remember if its there in latest nightlies of CM7.

Hello, I am really new to the whole flashing roms business but decided to go for it last night. So I followed the instructions to flash CM7 on my Defy. Worked great but needed the Android Market but could not access the .zip i put on my SD card. So without thinking much I installed a custom recovery defy_recovery-1218-0326-signed (1).apk but I believe that 2nd init is the custom recovery ( but I couldn't access it after flash was complete). After I installed the custom recovery I rebooted my phone and it got stuck on the M logo. I can access the bootloader menu and the recovery menu but have not been able to do anything that helps. I have RSD lite but does not recognize the .sbfs that I have downloaded. Please help me. I am out a phone and we all know how crappy that is. Thanks so much!
I was able to flash a version of Froyo and from there go back to Ginger! Thanks guys!
Cant help with Cm7 but can offer my advice, Walters version of newest 2.3.4 Defy + ROM works great and very easy to install, instructions are in the thread, I recomend using that ROM ;-p

Yeah I already tried that, nothing...
You've run yourself out of options, you should never wipe using stock recovery when using CM7. Flash a stock 2.2 sbf.

Why'd you install another recovery when CM7 comes with it preinstalled as 2ndinit?! The 2nd init bootmenu consists of a custom recovery. You should have read FAQs properly.
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
Yeah, like I said, im extremely new to this hole thing. I wasn't thinking when I put the new custom recovery. Im going to try to flash a new 2.2 rom and go from there if my battery will hold up...
Don't understand why..
I flashed the boot.img included in the zip via fastboot
then i went into recovery and installed FXPCM7
rebooted
Stuck on FreeXperia logo for 30mins.
Whats going on?
After you flash the kernel boot into recovery...
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
then go into advanced then wipe dalvik cache
Then flash the CM7.zip
Let me know how it goes - good luck
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- advance > dalvik cache
install FXPCM7
tried it, still stuck on FreeXperia logo
do i need to be on stock when installing it?
I am currently on the enhanced v2 firmware with doom kernel..
update:
tried stock too, doesnt work..
Hm try this
Redownload CM7
using flash tool flash this FTF - It has the newest baseband and largest user partiton
flash the kernel that came with CM7
Enter recovery and..
> factory reset
> wipe cache partiton
go into advanced and
>clear dalvik cache
Then install the CM7 zip from sd-card let me know how it goes
Thanks, but that was the firmware i was on.
I tried that method twice but the same thing kept happening to me
stuck at FreeXperia logo
Just to check if the problem is specific only to CM7 rom itself try installing another rom like Gin2Jellybean - Good luck
I have used various ROMS (all working perfectly) such as:
Gin2ICS/JellyBean
xDarkICS 4.0.3
Xperia NXT
JokaWild
Advanced Stock
So I think it may be just a problem with CM7?
Oh that's strange, try to download it again or try another build from here
tried the stable build now.. same problem :/
EDIT:
Tried flashing doom kernal, this time it actually boots.. touch screen doesnt work but it boots..
Is there another kernal i can use that works?
help please? would love to get cm7

What you need to do is reboot the phone when the boot logo comes on continuously hit the back button... That should get you into recovery. Then install rom from sd.

You don't have to unzip it. Just throw the whole zip into sd card then flash it with CWM.

How is it not working? You can't acces wifi settings? Scanning doesn't result anything? You can connect but internet still doesn't work? Which kernel are you using?
Try re flashing this way....
Assuming you did a backup before... (and was on pac18)
Wipe data factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dvalik
Format system
Flash rom
Fix permissions
Reboot up to start screen (as if it is first loaded screen)
Hold volume up and power to reboot into recovery.
Advanced restore the data only from your backup.
Wipe cache and dvalik again
Reboot
(will probably work from just backing up what you have now)

I'd say do a nandroid backup from recovery so you'll have it booting up again. If you have a backup that is.
Then either flash or copy the files don't think you have to do both. And its usually safer to flash as you'll gett the right permission on the files.

it's actually what I just did, got here because I'm having issues with the encryption unsuccessful... how'd you get around that?
I went with CWM 5 (signed version 5.0.2.7 ext4+rfs) and then proceeded to install CM9 final 3.
all went according to directions but then I got that msg and the reset button that doesn't do squat...
tried a search for the error message there but couldn't really pinpoint a working solution. so for now i just odin'd back the latest fw for the S5660 (ie S5660XXKTL_S5660XXKT7_S5660DBTKT1_HOME - Germany)
Reason i'm doing all this is because I believe the German baseband is different that the Canadian one (for Telus) since I'm not getting any reception from my provider but i'm able to get (detect) another one...
thanks for your time...
