Anyone having horrible sprint service this week? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hi guys, I'm sure many feel the service generally sucks everyday but I feel over the last week it's Ben horrible. I've had days of trying to send text messages, of dialing and waiting over a minute for the phone to start ringing, of 1x data speed with full bars. If you have had an upswing of issues like this please let me know. My girlfriend and I have both been having problems, and yesterday we talked with a lady in the city south of us, where she said she'd had such problems alot this last week. Just interested, no solutions here, but maybe it will let us know if we can push sprint to credit our way. Stop charging me for 4g there isn't any here!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

working for them ill tell you no they wont credit you back for your lack of service. You are more than welcome to try. But if you are having service issues try updating you profile then your PRL. If that doesnt work try doing ##72786# youll need to get you MSL (Call CS to get it or most stores will give it to you.)

They're probably upgrading towers near you in their network vision. Happened to my friend where he couldn't send texts or call for a while. Google "sprint network upgrades " and look at the first link and it'll show you their network upgrades in your area.

I think sprint is sucks all together for service. I came from att like 4 months ago cause they didnt have 4g at the time and i really wanted 4g. I was told wimax was fast. What i wasent told is in az they dont have wimax. So i got a 4g phone for nothing. Im kinda pissed. Thinking about going to verision cause there speeds are off the chain without doing this and that to get them better.

Good luck with those Tier data plans. $69 for talk + $20 for text + $30-80 for data or whatever it is and the $400 deposit. Plus not to mention all the total data outages theyve been having. God Speed Sir.

I've been having terrible sprint network issues this week. So bad that I've called them twice. They tell me each time that a tower is down/being upgraded in my area. I've installed the 00002 PRL on my wife's and my phones until they get their **** figured out. IDK if I believe them that they are upgrades as I was told it should be fixed by Saturday afternoon and its Monday and they still have issues. Once a day I switch back to the 60685 PRL and check reception. I'm not talking just data either... its voice calls as well. 30-60 seconds to change from "dialing" to ringing and when it does its roaming. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Yeah in LA area i have been getting less bars than i usually get. And dats speeds have gone from 1.4 mbps to 200kbps
Sent from self nominated team "Z" member's phone.

I've had inconsistent service for the last month; that's how long I have been working in New Orleans. Perhaps it is due to negative elevation but who knows.

Early in the week I had a lot of texts that said not sent. It was quite annoying. Also the same with calls taking 10 seconds or so to actually connect. I think it may be improving a bit, but not back to 100%. I'm in los angeles as well. On a side note, i've been trying 4g around my area and i've gotten up to 9mbits. In my home its on and off, but better than it used to be.

Thank you for your responses. Its both relieving and disheartening that you guys are also having issues.

Last week I called sprint about my terrible service. They told me that they were doing upgrades in the area and that some towers would be down in the meantime. If you go on their site, they have a map of areas they are gonna be working on or are currently working on.

i just got the Epic 4G Touch yesterday and the data speed is horrendous!
i blame the inrush of iPhone users to Sprint.

Questions about an airave with the evo

Okay, during the past few months sprints network has been downhill in my home, seriously I get full bars of 3g during the day and at night I get full bars of no service and network is busy errors.
this is pissing me off, I was in the middle of an important call with a client and I got booted off the network.
tried all 5 of my evos and nada, signed up for skype quickly and I managed save my job.
This has happened a ton of times and my kids are always telling me about it, every time I call cs I am told its an outage and It will be fixed. But I am living in the most populated area of Puerto Rico, where every carrier has great service except sprint. heck tmo's EDGE network kicks the crap out of sprints 3g.
I could understand if I were in a rural area but damn I'm like surrounded by 3 sprint stores.
Anyways back on topic, would you guys recommend the sprint airave?I'm about to have call cs and ***** until I get this resolved.
My home internet speeds are 3.5mbdown/512kbps up.

I've never heard of a "network is busy error" before related to 3g.
3.5 mb down and you're complaining?
Um....
There's no "3g" on ANY network that gets that high.
It sounds like it's just an outage. How long have these errors been happening?
I meant my homes dsl speed for the airave(sprints been doing 100kbps for ages while on 3g), and the network busy error appears when I try to place a call.
this started around 2 months ago, once every two weeks, now its annoying as hell, when I was going to have my dsl installed the tech almost left because he couldn't reach me (sprint outage).
I just sent a text and got an error. SMS Error Radio Interface Resource Shortage Cause Code:64 Error Class:2

An Airave could solve the issues in your home since the Airave uses voip to make phone calls.
Do you know anyone else with Sprint, do they have the same issues?
My son is at college on the west coast of the island and hes fine been fine, he complains about it when hes home visiting us.
I'm calling cs tomorrow to see if I can get them to give me a free airave since thats what I've been reading on forums.
People with signal issues receive a free airave and have the monthly charges waived.

I'm sure they won't argue with you especially if it's an issue they admit.
this really blows, the funny thing is that their 4g is working... I can have data only but the signal reaches my home only in my bedroom with 1 bar.
I have 2 more calls to make and I'm not risking it with sprint, skype has been working great so far.
Does the airave give the phones in my home 3g data or is it voice and text only?

It uses your internet as the data connection and it uses your internet for voip [for texts and calls]

It gives u 3g data also. I had the same problem at my house. I called them and told them the problem they said I live in a red zone are and will send me an airave. Free also. I have a epic and it boosted my 3g to 1.3mbs download.

The airrave works great. I did notice an issue with Juicedefender though; it would not connect to the airrave even when forcing it to by dialing *99. Once I disabled juicedefender, it works great and much longer battery life for my device, assuming courtesy the airrave.
going to call tomorrow about it, from what I understand its some white samsung branded box right? I think I saw one at my local sprint store the last time I went there.
The new one I got about a week ago is made by Airvana or something. It is an unbranded white box (and kinda large sadly). It works just fine for both 3G and 1X (data/voice).
anyway, it was free when I complained about things getting worse. People on slickdeals saying you have to pay tax on it, about $1. I haven't had mine long enough to know.
I want this asap, I just finished my last two calls via skype and pulled the evo out of my pocket and the service is back....its 12am here now lol.
I get around 600kbs to 1.3m d/l on 3g and I ant complaining about that. But I would understand bad signal then you should reconsider getting the air wave thing.

wimax no longer working

so here's the deal, I've been using blazer 4.0 and everything is great. I have always had wimax and so these last two days I've been tethering my phone to my ps3 (battlefield 3) and so today all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. I called Sprint and no help, back to stock nothing, rooted again and tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447615 but no luck. I changed the "realm" to clearwire and my 4g connected but obviously took me to a clearwire page that asked me to purchase a plan. I've used 8gb this month and I know for a fact my 4g radio works...any ideas ? please guys just try and help.
I have the same issue today. Phone runs stock rom, no root no tether. And today I can't pick up any 4G signal. Don't know the reason.
yeah I have no idea what the hell

That has been since Monday, then yesterday evening updated my PRL and both went back to normal or I got my 3G back. But 4G was the only thing that was working.....
I'm also running Phantom 4.0 btw

This maybe a long shot but there was a lot of solar activity that was messing around with electronics. It could be possible that the radios on our phones are more susceptible to this introduction of noise then others. If the phone isn't behaving better today or tomorrow then the problem is likely something else.
My 4G connectivity has been coming in fine until it became non existent since yesterday. Not really sure why, but doing a bunch of resets doesn't help for me as well. The 4G indicator comes on, but no signal bars appear. Hmmm...
Oh, and I'm in Ontario, CA. SoCal tower down perhaps?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
We were in a major solar storm yesterday, it may have had an effect on the towers and/or some of our phones. Try updating prl and profile, see if that works. I'm in Seattle and no problem here but I just got my E4GT so I was flashing and checking out different roms all day.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Thanks guys, even if the solar storm interupted my connection then why do it connect to clearwire? It has to be Sprint and I'm not paying for them to check out my phone when clearly they're the ones controlling it
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
OMG i just started a thread about this.... I thought i was the only one. My gf with an OG Epic connects fine.....my 4g stopped connecting about yesterday...
Forgot to mention I also have a verizon 4g aircard from work and it was working beautifully today with no slow downs or problems
Follow-up from my initial response...
I called Sprint tech support and they had me do the basic pull the battery, reset the phone exercises, but nothing worked. They told me that there was no outage in my area (SoCal) so they escalated me to the 4G team (Tier 2 support).
After about an hour of going through the same exercises, the tech support person opened up a ticket and mentioned that he's been noticing a lot of complaints today of the same issue. He also mentioned something about "dual mode services" not provisioning. Not really sure what that meant, but he told me that he doesn't think it's a hardware issue, but a Sprint side issue which he thinks should be resolved in the next day or two. Regardless, he created a ticket anyway to take with me to the Sprint store if I decide to get it checked out sooner than later.
I guess I'll wait a day (or two) to see if it resolves itself. I'll follow-up with another post if anything tangible happens within this time.
The dual mode comment might refer to the fact that our phones are dual mode-wimax and LTE, from what I understand sprint is going LTE around June or July. Or at least that's what the manager of the store I bought my E4GT at said.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I live in the Hacienda Heights CA, and work at La Punte, city of Industry. I called sprint today, tried to update my prl and profile, but it still doesn't work. Maybe I can wait the sun storm pass out.
Ok ok, here's what happened. This problem started Thursday morning and so after doing the battery pull and blah blah blah I finally went to a Sprint store early Friday morning. While waiting for a tech I notice two e4gt on display so like anyone would went over and tested 4g on them, nothing...tried the og epic and without a problem it connected. I told the tech and he pulled out his e4gt and same thing...nothing so I called tech support today and told them and they startdd a ticket saying they would have a tech check it out...i later called and the tech said "oh there's an outage in your area" but I don't know because Sprint employees aren't always very consistent. I think it might have to do with our dual band but I did ##data# and changed the realm to clearwire.wmx.net and connected to 4g like nothing but when i set it to sprintpcs.com it disconnects so I am beyond confused

Update:
As of this AM, my 4G is still toast. However, on my way from Ontario, CA to LAX, my phone locked into a 4G signal around the Downey area (105 fwy). I figure this issue isn't due to my phone crapping out on me. So I placed another call into tech support and they just confirmed with me that the towers around my area are down and they apparently have engineers working on getting them back up. ETA for a fix is 6PM tomorrow. 3/11.
I guess I'll have to wait and see...

I live in SE TX near Galveston island but im on mainland. I have 4G where I live even though it's not included in the coverage map. I usually get 1 bar inside my house and it works fairly well. Occassionally my 4G will not connect no matter what I do. It goes out for several hours and will start connecting again by early morning. It has done this several times but I really can't complain because according to Sprint, WiMax isn't supposed to be available in my city. But anyways this seems to be caused by either maintanance/upgrades or possibly cloud coverage/solar interference. It always works again after a few hours of downtime. This is my experience.

I'm in San Bernardino about 20 minutes from you. My 4g has been completely gone for the last 2 days as well. At my house near Cal State, it's been perfect since June 4, 2010 (original evo release date) and only now has it ever gone out like this. Very frustrating as I rely on it a lot since the 3g at my house is virtually non-existent. Shoot me a PM if you get a signal or hear anything from sprint. Thanks.

[Q] Extremely Slow Data Speeds - Out of Blue? Help!

Switched to the truly unlimited 4G data plan on the 5th. Everything was fine up until last night. I've gone from having an awesome connection to the T-Mobile network 90ms Ping, 25MB Down, 4MB up. To a 1000MS ping, 0.05MB Down/Up.
I called T-Mobile verified my unlimited was good and there was no throttle in place. I'm not even at 10GB yet. What could possibly be going on that could cause this? I'm rooted, Stock Rom, UVALH2.
Edit - Sometimes when I run Speed Test it picks me up in New York, Nebraska, Arkansas.. Really weird!
Working fine here in 60657

Nope. I went to a buddies place over in East Dundee (60118) and my speeds were back to normal. It has to be the tower in my area is having problems? If I call T-Mobile shouldn't they know if they have a tower experiencing problems?
Hmm..
Just got off the phone with T-Mobile. It appears there is a problem with three of the towers in my area. 84 other people have already called in and they said an engineering team is working on it. I've been on these 56k speeds for the past two days already going on a third. Should I tell them I want my data fee covered for the month or what?
Anyways just glad it's their network and not my phone. Wonder how long this will take.
Same story for me. I'm in San Francisco. Where are you guys?

Call T-Mobile. When the prompt asks you why you're calling say Tech Support. Then tell the rep that in the past few days your data speeds have been 56K like. You know it's not your phone. They will then check the towers in your area and see if there are any engineering tickets/requests active. When I called after some searching the guy told me I was the 85th person in my area to call in and that there was an engineering ticket active. They said it could take up to 72 hours for it to be fixed. Tonight will mark 72 hours so we will see what happens.
I know if I leave my house and drive about 15 miles to a buddies house which runs off of different towers my speeds are normal and everything is fine. Something to do with the antennas in my area.
I'm getting what I think is normal in this area, not in my normal neighborhood so I cant really test any more. But it's at 2.5 so I'm happy for now.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Called T-Mobile a little while ago to see if their engineers had located the problem yet and if there was a solid ETA... Nothing so far the ticket has yet to be updated. She said things like this can take up to a week to get resolved and begged for my patience.
They offered me a $10 credit for the downtime. Here's my real question. Lets say this issue is not resolved within a week. Am I able to get out of my contract due to the fact I can't get my promised data connection at my residence?
Input?

Lol, no. I was in an area the coverage map rated as the best for voice and HSPA. I received only EDGE in my apartment and had frequent signal drops. I called T-Mobile every other day for three weeks. They won't do anything for you because the coverage map says you have service, and the engineers were working on a fix ASAP.

Im in VA, Had same issues, even in the store their phones did same. Some 1000ms ping and so.

I need the XDA community's help.

So for two plus weeks the wife and I have had nothing but issues with Sprint's network. She has the gs2 and i have the gs3. Sprint's network team states they are looking into it. We both are losing connection altogether or I get stuck in roaming. A friend of mine states that I should use Verizon's radio.
We have taken our phone's into the corp sprint store and they have ran full diag on them which have checked out so they say.
What could I do to resolve this issue?

Sprint's network is super slow where I live also. I hope its just all the network upgrades their doing. But, then again, we've had a tower down here for a year it seems. TO ALL!!!! this is a call to action. I too, like many others are experiencing unacceptable data speeds while on 3G and in great reception while using the Galaxy S III. the speeds I should be receiving are 1.5-3 MB/s but instead I am receiving around 128Kb/s in the city and within excellent service. We all have to pay a 'Premium Data Add-On' charges just to own these phones and this is unacceptable. Please write an Email to [email protected], vice president of customer experience at sprint and let him know what you are experiencing. Maybe if enough pissed off customers write, they will finally listen!

May jump ship from Sprint any Coloradans here?

Hello G3 people,
I am getting fed up with Sprints lame ass attempt at an LTE network!
I use my phone mostly in the Lafayette, Louisville, Superior and Broomfield area.
(kind of in between Boulder and Denver)
I was hoping to get some feedback from t-mobile users here in Colorado on Voice quality and equally important if not more to me 4G data performance.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Even if you are not in Co. and have something usefull to add, feel free.
I have checked out Sensorly maps and it would seem t-mobiles 4G coverage is better.
But it would mean more to me to hear from actual network users in my area.
TIA!
The fact that the bootloader is unlocked is a bonus but not the reason for the considered switch.
I'm in Denver and I absolutely love T-Mobile. I'm always up in Evergreen visiting my parents or in Vail, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek etc snowboarding. In all these places I never have issues with signal loss. My Dad has Verizon and I've never run into an issue in which he had signal and I didn't. Even when we are up at the top of Vail I'll even have signal while he has no bars.
My Mom and sister use Sprint and they NEVER have signal. It's the absolute worst and their customer service is horrid. After 2 years of convincing them they are finally jumping on my fiance's and my family plan at the end of this month.
As for LTE, I live in Greenwood Village and always seem to have 4G LTE signal anywhere around here, downtown Denver, or down near Park Meadows.
I was with Sprint for 10 years and finally made a switch and I'm glad I did! Finally don't need an extra device like an "AirRave" to help with data connection in my home to make and receive calls without being dropped. I now have full bars inside my house without any help from a separate device. Sprint can be soo spotty at times when you really need that data connection it isn't there. Good riddance!

I'm not in Colorado, but I wanted to chime in.
I was in the same boat as you, with Sprint for 11yrs and dealt with their horrible service, dropped calls, congested network and bad call quality.
And then T-Mobile came out with their Test Drive trial and I gave it a run the very first week it came out (last week of June, this year). I was sent a iPhone 5s (never used one before) and given 7 days to try out their network with no limits, everything unlimited.
I ran speed tests day and night on that thing (used Root Metrics for nonstop testings), gave it to my wife to try out at work and used it at all the spots we frequent. We never had a problem, had better coverage than Sprint and with the corporate discount I could get with Tmo, our bill would be cheaper than Sprint's, and we had SERO with Sprint! Our signal was horrible in our home and Sprint gave us the Airave as well, which used OUR internet connection for our calls and data and yet it was still charged to our account as usage and all their admin fee.
No such thing with Tmo, their antenna is right across the street from us and we get -55dbm signal.
I ordered the LG G3, two of them, plus another line for my sister and ported our numbers over from Sprint to Tmo, all within a few weeks of finishing the Test Drive. Haven't looked back. :highfive:
In any case, my point being is that if you really want to see how the network is in your neck of the woods, I suggest you give the T-Mobile Test Drive service a try and you can see first hand how their network is where you are. It's free and just places a hold in the area just north of $700 for the phone on your credit or debit card, but is cleared within a few days of returning the phone back to them, I checked everything out before I jumped on it.

I live in Broomfield, and work in Boulder. Haven't done a speed test, but LTE speeds seem pretty fast. I'll do a speed test and post my results.
