Title says it all, I just had some good luck.
I have the EVO 3D (which I used my yearly upgrade on, what a waste) and I'm suffering from not getting any signal and missing phone calls, voicemails, etc, even 10 feet from my airrave at my house. I tried calling sprint tech support multiple times but to no avail, nobody would listen and kept talking about the network ticket that's open in my area and that would fix the problem I was having (even after I mentioned I have an airrave and still having the problem 10 ft from it.)
So I had placed an order for the E4GT on the 20th online at sprint.com. I was just fed up, and I was willing to drop 5 bills on the phone. About 2 hours later I decided to call and cancel the order for a number of reasons. The order was successfully canceled.
Yesterday the damn phone showed up on my front porch after I arrived home. I called that evening to return the phone. The helpful CR said that the order was successfully canceled and my account wouldn't be charged. This is the part that I couldn't believe. She said that it was up to me if I wanted to return the phone or not. She was even offered to activate it for me.
Just when I've lost all hope for Sprint, something like this happens lol.
And I'm enjoying this phone, it's definitely a lot smoother than the EVO 3D, and it can make friggin phone calls.
Hope it works out. I think they have a different department that looks at the inventory and figures out discrepancies. One time they shipped two phones for a single order. Called and told them and they said basically the same thing, their mistake but there is no record of the second shipment so there's nothing to do on their end. A week later someone in a different department called and said they shipped a second phone by mistake and they would send a prepaid package to return the phone or would charge full retail.
I wouldn't say you are home free yet.....
So the question is, are you willing to pay for it if they find out now that you had a chance to play with it or would you go back your 3D?
dont be so happy,yet
they will find out,you will see it on your next bill trust me...
At least he has a chance to argue his case with the evo problem.

My bill should be posted in 2-3 days so we shall see if it shows up or not. The Cs rep even offers to call back in 10 days to see if the bill posted with the charge on there and to see how I was liking my device.

One has to wonder if there is just not some glitch in their system that will rectify itself during some batch processing that might not occur until the end of your billing cycle or Sprint's Inventory reconciliation at the end of their monthly cycle. Most of the time the records for transactions are just marked deleted or cancelled until such time as the batch processing takes place and then those records are processed and compared against other tables in the database.
Well my Sprint bill just posted and the phone isn't on my bill, it looks like I'm home free!

I didnt get the phone for free, but I ordered the phone via wirefly. For some odd reason, my upgrade didnt get used. So i bought another one the following day and sold it to a friend who was no longer eligible for the upgrade.
this is not the first time this has happened on my account... happened once before about a year and a half ago on another line on my account.

Well this happens to be my first thread started on here, cheers!
I'll get right into it..
I switched to Sprint from Verizon on October 1st since it was time for a new phone and I didn't wanna pay Verizon's ridiculous data prices. Well, after getting everything setup and choosing the Epic Touch 4g (woot!) I realized I actually don't get any signal at my house despite what their coverage maps show.
Since then, I have called Sprint support about 6 times regarding obtaining an Airave. The idea was actually suggested to me by the customer support guy after doing some sort of test on my phone that indicated I was in a 'rural' area. Well, after getting transferred several times and after a large amount of confusion I was told I was being shipped the Airave.
I called a week later after not receiving the device and was told that they didn't ship it and that they actually had to order it and then they'd ship it 3-5 days.
I called again after no word/package from Sprint and they said they hadn't ordered it last time I called (at this point I'm already raging) but now it was ordered and he gave me some kind of confirmation code.
Welll i called again...turns out they still hadn't ordered one and that confirmation code was BS. I demanded to talk to a supervisor and this guy assured me that I would get the device 3-5 days.
So after waiting again and still no Airave i called again, yelled at a supervisor before he explained the whole process to me. he said it would take 3-5 days to receive an email confirmation, 7-10 for them to order/receive it, 5-10 after that until i get it.
SOO! i called 5 days after receiving no email confirmation and they said to give them another 3-5 days for that email. at tthis point they told me i could cancel my contract for free if i wish.
i love the et4g but this 'support' is the worst i've ever received. i've never been blatantly deceived/lied to like this. not even verizon those red devils were this bad
any advice would be appreciated

I got mine in two days I couldn't believe how fast out came. I have always had great customer service from Sprint. When I called to get it I told the rep I work from home and cannot miss calls and he said no problem and that it will be no charge. I always wonder why others have problems getting Airaves because it was so easy.

Not if you get it for free because of poor reception at your house. I don't have a landline and I have terrible reception inside my house. I told them that this is my only phone and I need to be able to make and receive calls and I had one within 3 days. It helps if you give them an important reason why you need to get calls at the house. It also helps if you tell them you have no signal inside, but as soon as you step outside you get reception and it's a pain to have to go outside every time you need to make a call.
I switched to sprint in july and the day my phones got at my door I called and they offered me one for free with no monthly fee either. I have read that some were charged for the device but no monthly fee, and others were charged for both. When I had called he said I "qualified" to get one for free of charge. Right after that someone posted a thread about it in the evo 3d forums and sprint got hammered by people calling and asking for them. I know a bunch of people that got turned down for one due to limited supply

There is no monthly fee on the Airave. They used to be a fee on the older ones that did now have 3G. It was easy to get that fee waived anyway.
Now they just have a charge for the device but there is no monthly fee attached with it. It is the cost of the device that you want to get waived.
Just tell them you have a friend that lives near you and he was offered one at no charge. Say he was told the only stipulation is that he needs to return it if he were to leave Sprint. Say you want the same offer.

Holy crap! This is EXACTLY what I went through trying to get an airrave from sprint three years ago. I had been with sprint for 15 years and I got lied to repeatedly about it shipping and in the end they just offered me a $20/month credit to stay on Sprint. They even lied about that... I left for Verizon but hated the prices so I came back to sprint even thought sprint is by far the worst customer service company I have ever encountered (BY FAR). I've probably got half a dozen stories like this one from customer "service" about other issues I've had as well... If it wasn't for the friends/family pricing on an everything plan, I'd be long, long gone.
So today I called sprint and told them I had crappy service at my house, so he starts asking the usual questions, (I also a new customer since last November, not sure if it matters) so then he tells I might qualify for airave. He asked me if I had hi speed internet, said yes, the he said it was going to pay $130 onetime fee no monthly fee also! I played stupid and I said "what that is crazy, how come my cousin got it for free?" (that was a lie lol) so he says hmmm really give one second ill see if can work something out..... He comes back and said well I talked to my boss and he said you can have it for free. Sweet!!! But I did have crappy service! But ever since that call im getting better 4G, but still two bars, I dont care cuz I mostly text and email.
Someone should see if they can get one for free also lol just say what I said "that's crazy, my cousin got it for free!" Lol good luck

I said that exact same thing a while back and unplugged mine. Then later I plugged it back in because I really do get poor reception at my house SOMETIMES.
It seems the problems I had with my Airrave, I could have avoided by simply leaving my phones Wi-Fi turned off. I spoke with Sprint and it seems there's some type of conflict if you turn your phones wi-fi on and try to use the Airrave at the same time? they say "some" devices are luckey and can do both..My Epic Touch was one of the luckey ones "most of the time..except for text messages. For some reason, I wasn't always getting my texts?
Now I really like my Airrave and think its a great service (specially for FREE) I just have to remember two things:
1) At home, leave my phone's wi-fi turned off.
2) As I drive away from my house and decide to place a call I have to make sure I wait till I'm clear of my router, because for some reason the Airrave has a tough time switching from the router to a normal Sprint tower. If I don't the call tends to drop and I end up having to try again.
Other than this, I think its a screeming good deal though, THANKYOU Sprint!
The problem with the airave is that you have to have a good upload Internet connection. If you seed or use upload bandwidth while your talking people can't hear you that we'll.
I also got the Airave for free, I recently moved to Texas, and I have almost no signal in my house. The first day in the house, I have missed at east 6 phone calls.
After I phone call, Sprint sent me an Airave at no charge and it solved the problem. I can now use my phone and place phone calls!
I have been with Sprint for 9 years and I can only praise their customer service.
Well I guess it wouldn't be that useful for me since my reception is fine, but network speeds are slow. My home wifi is amazing though so I don't really use mobile network unless outside

I did not dismiss your issue, but rather the way you feel of getting whats "entitled to you" if you truly have bad service then we can see that, there is absolutely no need to lie to a rep to prove your point and get something that that "could be" free because you read it on some blog, and to be quite honest im not attacking you im just trying to show you the current problem with some sprint customers.....cut out the drama queen theatrics and lies then ill be happy to send you the airave for free since you are having signal issues and ready to cancel, that sentence would be enough for me to send that device for free......do you see where im going with this.....your lie was completely unnecessary and just makes my job that much worse when I deal with this issues 40 times a day, 5 days a week

I moved over a year ago to an area far outside Tampa florida and ended up getting one as well. its funny seeing peoples faces when I refer to it as my own personal tower.. it has made a big difference. I didn't lie about getting for free, once they looked up my zip code they said it would be on its way no cost as long as I keep in good standing. I knew there is a reason I put up with Sprint for 12 years..
congrats!

I don't recall which thread (I tried searching) where some Sprint employer said I could PM him to get a new phone on the line where my Airave is since it is eligible for $150 rebate. Anyone have any idea?!
if a rep were to do that, they wouldn't be a sprint employee for long, especially if it was a free air rave through customer retention. air rave will always show as available for upgrade.

I did it with mine last year. I had a hard time at best buy and couldn't do it there. I went to radio shack and the guy processed it for me. I think he even had a hard time with however they process their upgrades in their system. He had to do something strange but I can't remember what. Just go and give it a try, the worst they can say is no.

Talked to a rep 2 weeks ago about this and he actually forwarded me a screen shot of Sprints policy on this and it is a BIG NO!!! He said the person that does it could possibly be fired over it so he said you would be hard pressed to find a rep willing to do it.
If I log into my account on sprints website it shows my airwaves line as eligible for $150 rebate, I've never actually tried to use it though, wonder why the system shows it if you can't actually use it..

It shows as eligible, but if you shop for an upgrade, it doesn't show any phones.
I'm not saying it's legal or anything, but I remember reading about people doing it here and wondered how to go about it. I'll check out my local Radio Shack this weekend and see what they said. Did you mention that it was an Airave or just told them the line number?! Also, did you lose your Airave function after this upgrade?!

Did you mention that it was an Airave or just told them the line number?! Also, did you lose your Airave function after this upgrade?!

I just told them the number but I am pretty sure they found out it was the Airave. If I remember right, I think they processed the upgrade and then called customer service afterwords to swap the upgraded number from the airave to the actual phone I bought or something like that and customer service said they should not have done it but they were already done with it. The Airave works fine now. Give it a try. I did agree to a two year contract on the airave and I guess if I wanted to cancel it there would be an etf.

Doing an upgrade on an Airave line will get you fired quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Radio Shack will do it, and you wont loose your Airave because it will be swapped back on. They dont care if its an Airave, its a contract for them and they will go above and beyond to get you that upgrade lol.
I did it. So, it is possible. And I did it at a Sprint Store.

Would they have to change the plan in the process of upgrading? I know I would have a really hard time, seeing as how I have a sero plan and upgrading an airave line.. lmfao

lies.. called sprint and spoke to telesales who was more than willing to upgrade my airrave last year when the sgs2 came out.. called back a few days later and was told could go to any dealer to do it and got mine at best buy for 173$ when it came out.. dont get fired.. if anything they just need to get permission from higher up to do it.. its like any other upgrade.. if sprint doesnt want us using the upgrade maybe they should send us new airraves instead of refurbished ones

It is possible its a pain in the ass I've done it before I work for radioshack.

When I go on sprint site I also have the the upgrade option and click it and can't upgrade for a phone. Just tablets.

I so hate that my Airave shows that upgrade, hate it even more it's listed first when I login and seems set to default or something. UGH
be careful with doing that i know months down the line if sprint systems find out that can and probably will charge u full price !!

That's not possible. They can't just charge full price down the line. It'll either work or not.

I'm not really feeling this topic. Sure, I'm all for getting a discount, but not in a scammy kind of way.
Sprint apparently has a roaming department now. And I have been "targeted as a roaming customer". I couldn't believe it when she said that. Not only was she fairly rude, but I'm now being treated as if I was somebody who hasn't been with the same carrier for years! I literally responded with "targeted? For what?" She didn't care to explain much and actually went through all my details and account history as I sat on the phone in silence just waiting for some sort of response or direction. After being in silence and hearing her mumble, cough, and what I thought to be her eating snacks, she quickly stated (so fast I couldn't make out what she said the first time) "you have the option to terminate with no etf or port your number with no etf". It literally sounded like this: youhaveheoptiototrrmijdETFporthsbsETF.
I thought about what I should as those were the only options presented to me... I finally asked, can I just keep the same thing I'm doing now? She basically said I could but threatened that my phone could be disconnected for no reason at all whenever they feel like it...!
I was too frustrated to deal with it anymore and told her thanks (nothing to thank her for, dunno why I did that) and ended the call.
Turns out I used approx 500 roaming minutes (phone calls) according to their records in six months. They claim that's excessive and sent me a letter 2 months ago that I still haven't seen. Either way, considering flashing to boost now. Only problem is, how do I get the other two phones on my account over there and would those be without etf as well?

Only sprint can answer those questions. My guess would be if they are allowing you to cancel 1 line with no etf, they should let you cancel other 2. If not, force them too.
congrats! ive been trying to do this for a while now with no luck.. did u call n ask them or did they call u?

They practically harassed me. This was the third call of the day. The first one was on my lunch break with the girl telling me "you been roamin and we callin u 2 talk bout it". I was thinking "talk about what?" lmao! But seriously thee rudest people I've ever talked to on the phone!
Sent from my Super Galaxy'd SPH-D710
If they want you to cancel your line, make it conditional on them releasing the others as well. Otherwise, change the PRL to constantly roam on your other two devices. You'll receive a call in about a month telling you that they want to cancel those lines too.
This is easy to do on an android phone, but I'm unsure about iphones.

500 minutes over six months is excessive? Isn't their monthly roaming "limit" "800 minutes or the majority of minutes" for any single month?
I have the same question, my mother is on verizon prl now but when I switch it I don't get any MMS messages downloaded, do you have this issue?

How long have you guys been on the verizon prl without sprint contacting you? I've only been on for about a week or two but I'm at 9gb and my wife is around 2gb.
2 months straight here, and a couple gig per month for the last year probably with no letter yet.

Well, I'd say it's nice to see you posting again on XDA but what odd circumstances.
I'd say call them up and get a clarification on it. If they don't drop the ETF already you could pressure them to do so and as another posted make it an "all or none" situation with your account. Remind them that it's not the only phone on the account. They'll either fold because you're costing them too much, try to give you the proverbial middle finger or drop the issue and let you continue as you have been. And if you don't get the answer you're looking for I'd take ask for a supervisor or find another way to escalate.
BTW, still sporting the LG as one of the other phones?
Lol. I do have the LG but kind of as a backup... My other phone is an HTC evo 3d which I need to find out if I can flash to boost as well...

I'm going to venture to guess "mumbles" the CSR meant to say you've used 500 roaming minutes a month for the last 6 months, but wasn't articulate enough to spit that out properly. If I were you I would call into the customer service number and try and get a hold of a rep who can properly convey what they are trying to tell you and escalate it from there to retentions. You will probably end up with a few options, 1) keep all 3 lines and try to get below a certain amount of roaming a month 2) terminate the offending line with no ETF and keep the other lines active 3) cancel all 3 lines with no ETF or 4) get the offending line terminated ETF free but have to buy out the other lines at the prorated ETF if the contract is over a year into agreement.
We are legion, for we are many.

Slow down big fella or Sprint will come calling. I barely went over 300 mb of roaming for one month and the have me a call. I'm glad since it allows me to cancel my plan whenever with no etf..

Sprint's service in my area is horrible now... I'd rather go tmobile or verizon, even if it costs more at least its service that I can use.
How do you use a PRL from another carrier? I have not seen that option anywhere.Sprint's coverage is pretty horrible and I could use some Verizon love when I am at work. Much better signal from Big Red and none from Sprint while there.
