[Q] FC's when trying to install themes via CWM - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
I have been reading the X10 forums for about a year and now reading Xperia Play forums for about 6 months. I am having problems installing themes onto my Xperia Play 4g 2.3.4 which i flashed to R800a Generic and have it rooted (bootloader locked).
I manually copy and pasted Tekken179's ICS theme (changing permissions) to the theme, however if I were to try to update any theme via CWM, i get a series of FCs forcing me to take out my battery. What am i doing wrong?
I have CWM installed and when my phone boots up, the status bar is missing and its very frustrating which forces me to backup to my previous backup (thank god i backed up). Thanks to everyone or anyone who can help me with this issue. I really love my xperia play.

[Q] Restoring Theme / ROM HTC Desire

Hi Guys, Need some help with this.
I installed the Steel blue theme for CM7 and decided i didnt like it, and wasnt sure how to go back to the stock CM7 theme, so i googled and found the answer was reflashing the ROM?
Now i've done this things aren't right, i'm missing the android market and my google sync data etc. So i tried downloading the new 7.1 update and flashing this but it is still missing the androind market and google sync?
ANy ideas / help would be appreciated !
Google Apps aren't included with the CM7 ROM. You need to flash a separate file to install them, as stated in the thread.
For next time(s), you really should do a nand backup before messing around with stuff to avoid reflashing and such

[Q] arc calendar deleted...

hi xda people,
i've purchased the xperia arc a few weeks ago and i'm stunned by the speed of this little machine. i have a little problem though.
due to the problems with not enough phone memory (i've installed a lot of apps and games) i've chosen to root my phone and delete some applications i didn't need. I didn't actualy delete any of the calendar applications cause i figured i might need them later. somehow though, i've lost the baility to use the app called touch calendar....when i start it there is no problem whatsdoever, but when i want to add an event i get the error 'you have no calendars.'.
my question is simple: does anyone have an idea what i might have deleted? and how do i get it back? if there's no way to individualy reinstall the specific apps or programs using the calendar (sync maybe?) is there a way to get the original xperia arc ROM from some place, reinstall it and fix the problems?
any help is appreciated, I really need my calendar app
greetz,
Flexikon.
Bump, same problem here :S:S
try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201262
or just try via SEUS, and after that try to root it again.
OP, this is not a place to ask questions. There is a Q&A section for that...FYI.
Best thing to do would be to re flash your firmware using flashtool, with the ' wipe user data' flash switched off.. That way your get new system software, but don't lose any of the apps you've installed.

[Q] Defy+ stuck at 'com.motorola.setup' ended unexpectedly

Hello,
this is my first post so let me say hello to you all! Now to my problem, I have a Defy+ (german O2 branding) and was not satisfied with the performance/memory/battery usage and in general all the motoblur stuff. I rooted the phone using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595013 howto and it went smooth and was running afterwards without problem. I setup some apps to replace the motoblur crap and started to remove parts of it using the ROM Toolbox Lite app to make backups of the system apps so I'd be able to revert things if there was a problem. Well now there is a problem an all the backups did not save me. Her is what I did:
- motorola system apps removed, problem with com.motorola.datamanager (no gsm connection anymore)
- restore of some apps via ROM Toolbox
- no effect
- restore of all apps ROM Toolbox
- no gsm
- factory reset (a friend advised that)
After the reboot I could see a gsm icon for a second before the defy+ becomes unusable because of a popup that states the process 'com.motorola.setup' ended unexpectedly. I can't get rid of this and therefore can't do anything with the phone. None of the buttons respond to anything and all I can do - if I am very quick - is to shut the phone down.
What can I do about it? Should I repeat the rooting process and therefore flash a new ROM in the process? Will this help?
Thank you for any suggestions!

You could start practise using CWM and backup either your entire nandroid or just your systems.
Next time if you fall into trouble, just hit CWM and restore back to the previous state safely.
And my advise is use TitaniumBackup as it offer a lot more options than you can imagine. Just freeze the app you don't like or convert any downloaded app into system app.. you could backup apps too and uninstall them while still having the backup in your memory card.
And lastly, playing with the system apps is kind of risky so you must take one at a time doing it to be sure of no side effect..

This will be valuable advice in the future, thank you. But I still need to find a way to access the device again. Any thoughts on that?

[Q] my Xperia play stops working.

hi, im new to this and i desperately need some help. My xperia play stops working, i think i know why i just dont know how to fix it. my phone is rooted with stock rom/kernel, sorry i dont know anything about it, but my firmware is .42 android version 2.3.4. I uninstalled the digital clocks and replaced it with Animated Weather Clock&Widget(AWC&W) then converted it into system app using titanium backup. I wiped the data of the AWC&W and uninstalled it 'coz im gonna replace it with another widget, then suddenly my phone went all black. Everytime i reboot my phone it always stops at the sony ericsson logo and doesnt go any further. is there anyway i could fix it? i hope this doesnt concern any hardware repair. thanks a lot!
Just restore it using PC Companion or flash it with flashtool
lol! i was just about to say that. i already fixed it.. sorry for the hassle.. and thanks, i love this site!

ROMs and games apps

Hello,
I was planning on flashing a custom ROM on to my Play (In particular, this onw http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427874).
However, I was wondering if either
A. Xperia Play apps (I.E. Xperia Play, Get Games, Playstation Pocket) are not lost (by default) when using a custom ROM
or
B. There is a way to add them back
Thanks!
In addition, how can I get the default games installed?

If you want to use a custom ROM, many developers will highly recommended you to format your system or data first, or bootloop will come (sometime). Maybe as alternative you can use an apps like Titanium Backup to bring your wondering things into the safe place. Then you can bring it back after you flash some ROM.
A) It depends on rom, most of them are debloated, every rom creator erase different apk. I think (but I don't remember, cause I edited it, added some apk, btw PSpocket and XPlauncher as first, changed icons etc.) Gin2 haven't Xperia Play Suite (you can download from GPlay) and PSpocket (you can't download from GPlay).
B) However you can add these apk right in the .zip file of the ROM (you can take them from other rom or try google) and they will be installed normaly with other aplications when flashing, or you can flash zip from this topic:
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679670
which contains PS store, Pspocket, Xperia Play suite (the "new" one from ICS), Get Games and Get Applications.
Third option is root this stock, install EsFileExplorer or another file explorer with root acces and copy these apks from system/app to your sdcard. Or you can use Titanium Backup as have been said. This same way you can copy/backup your preinstalled games.
The last option is to PM me and I send you the apk of these games to you
EDIT: I think you speak about Gin2Kittkat. I don't recommend you flashing JB ROMs. They are buggy, controller support is bad, PSpocket don't work I think and for games it's not the best choice. Also I think there are much better ROMs than Cyanogenmod for your Xplays...
