Hello,
I was planning on flashing a custom ROM on to my Play (In particular, this onw http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427874).
However, I was wondering if either
A. Xperia Play apps (I.E. Xperia Play, Get Games, Playstation Pocket) are not lost (by default) when using a custom ROM
or
B. There is a way to add them back
Thanks!
In addition, how can I get the default games installed?

If you want to use a custom ROM, many developers will highly recommended you to format your system or data first, or bootloop will come (sometime). Maybe as alternative you can use an apps like Titanium Backup to bring your wondering things into the safe place. Then you can bring it back after you flash some ROM.
A) It depends on rom, most of them are debloated, every rom creator erase different apk. I think (but I don't remember, cause I edited it, added some apk, btw PSpocket and XPlauncher as first, changed icons etc.) Gin2 haven't Xperia Play Suite (you can download from GPlay) and PSpocket (you can't download from GPlay).
B) However you can add these apk right in the .zip file of the ROM (you can take them from other rom or try google) and they will be installed normaly with other aplications when flashing, or you can flash zip from this topic:
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679670
which contains PS store, Pspocket, Xperia Play suite (the "new" one from ICS), Get Games and Get Applications.
Third option is root this stock, install EsFileExplorer or another file explorer with root acces and copy these apks from system/app to your sdcard. Or you can use Titanium Backup as have been said. This same way you can copy/backup your preinstalled games.
The last option is to PM me and I send you the apk of these games to you
EDIT: I think you speak about Gin2Kittkat. I don't recommend you flashing JB ROMs. They are buggy, controller support is bad, PSpocket don't work I think and for games it's not the best choice. Also I think there are much better ROMs than Cyanogenmod for your Xplays...

I hope someone can help me with this. I am running the latest official Sony (2.3.4 I think), with Doomkernel OC to 1.9GhZ and root. However, although I actually like the Sony overlay much much more than the atrocious Sense, I simply long to try some of the custom ROMs out there.
But I have the following issue: I have downloaded games (legally of course!) which also have their own data installed on SD. If I move to a new ROM, will I have to redownload all that data, or can I simply re-install the titles and they will find the data on my SD instantly? How about save files? Is it possible to maintain them while moving to an entirely new ROM?
Finally, what happens to purchases from Playstation Suite (aka via Sony's store, which takes you to a different website -- not the App Market?) Would I lose these titles?
Too many questions, I know -- but I want to make sure I can get the use I primarily aim for (which is a gaming device) by switching to a custom ROM. So long as I can maintain my save data and not have to redownload GBs of game data using my slow 3G, I will be happy. Also, full compatibility with the Playstation Suite is a must.
I hope you can help me out with this question!

Im 99.9% sure you will need to re download the data as well as the save states being no good anymore. I dont think you will lose the titles from the Playstation Suite, but I dont use it so I cant say for sure.
If you wanna try it out, just make a backup and then flash the custom rom, if the games dont work anymore with the same sd card data, then you can restore the back up you made and everything will work as it was before you flash the custom rom

Do I have to buy the full version in order to backup everything? Is there a free alternative?
ive searched the forums...ive searched google and even manual for the HTC One V and i cannot for the life of me find a thing on how to (or where to) install themes ive downloaded and installed onto the device??
help would be appreciated, i just cannot figure this out and im sure its prob easy too? :silly:
What themes?
There is nothing called 'themes'! Is there? If you're not using any launcher, then in HTC Sense 4.0, we have to go to the HTC Hub and download themes/skins (as far as I know). And if you're using a launcher such as Apex, you'll have to go to the Play Store and download themes and they automatically get installed! Then where's the point of 'where to install themes?'
If you've downloaded the APK Theme Files of some launcher, then you just need to copy them to the SD Card and run and install them. Then it will be displayed in the corresponding launcher. :^)
It'll be better if you specify the extension of the theme files you've downloaded and the launcher you're using.

Well, you cant install any 3rd party themes in the stock rom. For that, you need to be running on custom roms (like CM9 based roms), even then, the themes have to be resolution specific.
The only way to customize the appearance of your OS is via Settings --> Personalize. There are a bunch of themes available ( not very beautiful though.)
okay...now im really confused??
some say use a file explorer, soforth but you are stating it cannot be done??
so, i cannot install my themes at all??

pls be generous enough to share from where u got themes (dont say they are live wallpapers)
to get into sdcard use xplore file manager by lcg or the es file explorer .....!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just to clear the confusion here,
If you are not rooted and are using the stock HTC Sense ROM without any 3rd party launchers then the only themes that you can use are the ones in the HTC hub.
If you do not wish to root but wanna install themes, i suggest you install Go Launcher, Apex or any other 3rd party launcher that is available in the play store, themes for these will also be available there.:good:
i think it was the play store i DLd to my PC then installed onto SDcard on device.
as it stands, it is using HTC stuff....i have no idea how to get a "launcher", i dont know a thing of "rooting"
i need serious help here! :good:

follow this link,
(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex&hl=en) on your pc
click the button "install"
once you click it, it will ask you for a gmail account
use the same gmail account that you have used on your one v (assuming that you are connected to 2g/3g or WIFI from your phone)
once it accepts the credentials.
the download will start on your PHONE, there is no way to dl an app to your pc via play store.
you dont have to worry about installing it, once it is dl'd it will auto install
try to learn how this launcher works, use it for a few days, if you are not satisfied then you can give other launchers a go using play store app from your phone or using your browser to go to https://play.google.com/store
Enjoy:good:
I want to start this off by saying that i am totally new to rooting and anything that pertains to phone customization. But i can follow directions very well aslong as they are in lamens terms. I enjoy learning and want to continue to absorb all i can along the way. I dont play games on my phone, i watch movies sometimes, so i am looking to just be able to customize my phones appearance and have it run smooth and fast. So if anybody can lead me in the right direction i appreciate your time and consideration..

To truly use root, I would suggest a custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM. Then you can flash custom AOSP roms. These ROMS are highly customizable from the settings menu. Always backup your stock setup 1st, in case a ROM doesn't work properly. You can customize without flashing recovery or custom ROM. There are many apps in Google play that require root access, such as ROM toolbox that has a ton of options. You can download adaware off the internet to remove most ads you get on your phone. Also root explorer in Google play will allow you to remove apps you don't use from the system, but be careful with this, because you can bork your phone from removing certain apps, escpecially Google apps.

Hi all,
Over a year back, I updated my Xperia M(C1904) to JB 4.3(latest build) and the experience since then has been quite mixed for me. While I am loving the updated walkman, album and movies apps as well as the apps and of course, the camera, constant lags has been ruining my experience as a whole. Furthermore, dunno for some reason, my internal memory keeps on decreasing despite not installing any new apps or updates and clearing cache constantly. So now I wish to revert to the original build(JB 4.1) which was super smooth although I will be compromising on my camera. So I have a few questions:
1) How to revert to original ROM? (Factory reset maybe?)
2) I play subway surfers and have unlocked a lot of stuff. If I backup my game data and restore it upon reverting to original build, will the game data remain in tact?
Thanks
You simply need to flash an older version of the firmware to your phone.
This page has detailed instructions on how to do so, as well as links to various firmwares. Although some of the links are dead...

Thanks but I will rather use sony's official flash tool instead one last thing, what about my subway surfers question?
Thanks
Helium app by ClockworkMod from Google Play may work...
Didn't try it because never needed it. I'm just mentioning it because it is the most used app for data backup of games and apps. But also Google's own backup and restore option from Settings>Backup&restore>Account for backup may also work. Good luck.

I don't know about Subway Surfers, but the official flash tool (Emma) doesn't support the Xperia M. :|

You can copy the com. files of subway surfers and later paste in the internal storage after flashing 4.1. It would be better if you take the apps backup with Sony's Backup & Restore App.
Hi all I am here with one other (un)usefull mod. With this modification you will be able to freeze all apps in native application manager + you will be able to set on/off notifications for all apps.
HOW TO:
make full backup in twrp
flash in twrp one of zip
freeze_app_mod_with_su.zip - if you use Move SuperSU to Settings Mod flash this one
freeze_app_mod.zip - in other cases flash this one
happy freezing
one issue - original launcher can't be freeze
This mod will replace Settings.apk with new one deodexed, it is based on 2.2.1 Oxygen OS version and is tested only on this version. Be careful what you will freeze or you can freeze whole phone
Good work.
But why spend time on this? We can use 3rd apps like sd maid to freeze.

I know, I know.... but I just enjoy it and I am trying to keep my phone "clean". Almost for everything exist 3rd apps but I like if it goes without them
