I would really want to revert to stock SE 2.3.4 ROM, and I mean STOCK. With bloatware and bugless. Though I don't want to lose root or relock my bootloader. How do I do this?
Edit: 2.3.7 is ok too if it is compatible with DooMKernel

Just repair your phone with SEUS on pc companion and root with flash tool or super one click. Or if you have FTF then flash that and root again. Saying that isn't doomkernel prerooted.

That is what i wonder, and that is why i ask; for example, when rooting now again, wont there always be that little slight chance that i will brick my phone ?
There's always a way to brick your phone but if you follow instructions carefully then you should be ok. I've bricked mine a few times but it's only a soft brick, it's hard to get a total brick.

Thanks man. As you can see I'm on my phone so I will thank later, but could you send a link or something on how to unbrick?

Great. In PC Companion when i press support zone: "The program could not be installed at the moment. Please try again later (Roughly translated to english, may not have been this message EXCACTLY). What do i do then as an alternative ?
What about flashing a new Firmware with Flashtool and then use fastboot to install a new kernel. Yes, No ? Some alternatives or fixes please ?
If you cant install the support zone then you will have to use the flashtool to flash stock firmware, the file is here on this link.
Deleted link from here, it was not working.....
Edit: sorry just checked the link and its not working, il upload it if i cant find a link that works but it will take about 1 hour or more to upload
Edit:here we go check this, this is the one i meant to give you.

Since i accidently exchanged the roles of CM7 and Stock
I did the firmware, didn't boot, so i installed DooMKerneL v10 and still didn't boot (both times stuck at SE logo screen), so i installed SE.TWEAKED and it works. Even though SE.TWEAKED seems like an O.K. ROM i'm still looking for stock. How do i get it ?
Well, does anyone here got a system.img of r800i stock Rom ?
As flashing new firmware doesnt do anything.
download the ftf use 7zip extract system. sin Google sin2img then convert system.sin to. img

i have a plan to root (with locked bootloader) my r800i and delete some bloatware..<br />
<br />
have a question :<br />
<br />
1. if i want to unroot my phone, is it can be done by re-flashing the stock rom?<br />
2. is flashing the stock rom will bring back the bloatwares?<br />
3. if i accidentally brick the phone by deleting the bloatware, does flashing the stock rom (using flashtool) can fix the problem?<br />

Thanks, ArcMan09. I have only rooted the Arc and have not installed any other firmware - it still has the existing manufacturer's firmware. I have also not unlocked the bootloader. Will it not accept an "official" update again ?
The updates do some checks on your current system, if it seems modified it will not update. Just do a restore in pcc it will install the latest version on your phone for you.

Just flash 4.1.A.0.562 ftf files with FlashTool.
FlashTool do not require unlocked bootloader.
After that you can root easily.

I just updated my Arc to ICS. Connected through the Sony Companion which detected the SW update and it downloaded and updated it. The downside of this is that my existing root has been 'patched', ie, it has been unrooted with the update. Waiting for Doomlord to work his magic now

Yes - but what we really need is a 1-click rather than flash 'down', root and then flash. Am too lazy for these you know...basically a zergrush exploit or an emulator trick for the latest firmare...

There is no easy root method at the moment. If you want root then you will need to downgrade the kernel then root then update kernel.
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
The only easy way is an unlocked bootloader, other you'll either have to use the downgrade or wait for an exploit.

Ok, so I have now rooted following instructions from this thread :
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119
Step 1. Download Flashtool
Step 2. Download the .562 kernel
Step 3. Flash .562 kernel and reboot phone
Step 4. Root using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038
Step 5. Download the .431 kernel
Step 6. Flash .431 kernel and reboot phone
I don't see why you need to go check on the talk.sonymobile.com site as those very same instructions have been posted here.
You do realise that everything that happens there is just a rehash of what happens here at XDA. :cyclops:

True...just that I had several links bookmarked on this rooting thing and I followed one of them. Btw, the .562 & .431 kernel links were about 5 MB each, whereas the ones I found on XDA were ~250MB - guess they included the entire stuff...or, I wasn't searching properly here:crying:

Righto...just wondering why you need to download the whole ftf's when kernel flash would do...
Probably because they couldn't find the kernel alone. In that case, the only option would be to download the entire ftf.

Root for 4.0.4 Xperia Arc/ Arc S was out a while ago. One must downgrade the kernel, root and then upgrade it.
try to put your drive into flashmode and flash back to a stock rom/kernel and try install the big pack on an GB rom!
First of all, go to this forum and download the LT15i 4.0.4 update for your phone. I suggest Generic Global World.
Flash it using the latest version of Flashtool (v0.8.6.0). Check the No Final Verification box. Welcome to the correct build of ICS for your phone. LOL!
Now you've already downloaded the LT18's 4.0.3 ftf previously. Using Flashtool, just flash the kernel alone of the 4.0.3 build. Make sure you exclude everything else. The 4.0.3 kernel is rootable using the zergrush exploit.
Once that's done, flash back the 4.0.4 kernel. Again making sure to exclude everything else other than the kernel.
And there you go, you have a rooted 4.0.4. After this, go download pvyParts' Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market.
That should solve your problem. You should have no issues with CWM after that. (Maybe except a slight offline charging issue. )

Hi!
A couple of minutes ago I flashed .58 (hong kong) firmware on my Xperia Play and I rooted it with Doomloard root kit. But here's the problem:
I want to install Gin2JellyBean and for that I must have CWM recovery(x-part) and it says that I must have root access. But I have superuser so I tried rootchecker(market) and it also says that I don't have root access! Need help! I have a Swedish Play so can I flash back stock rom?(.42)
//Revilz
Regardless of whether it is an international PLAY or not , you can revert to .42 stock. And i would recommend using flashtool to root your device.
Kudos !

Okey, so what do you think? Shold I go back to stock or try to root it with flashtool and go to Gin2JellyBean?
Try This
First of all, maybe without reverting to stock unroot your device.
Then go ahead and try rooting via flashtool, although if it is still not detected you might aswell go ahead and revert back to stock and root it from there
Kudos !

Hi all,
Just find something...
Downloaded the latest Sony xperia s rom 6.1.A.2.55 installed it than when i tried to root with it failed so got an idea...
Took me a few hours and a lots of trial and error and re flashing to finally get it.
This is what i did to get ROOT.
Step 1, Download my zip and copy on your phone . I only created the zip and the script and used su binary from my saved rom and the supersu apk
Step 2, Download the rom 6.1.A.2.55 (you can google for it)
Step 3, Download and flash Advanced Sock kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280 and flash it. Do not reboot into the OS (I don't know if it can cause problem but when i did, my was constantly rebooting.)
Step 4, Start recovery and flash my zip MYSUPUBLIC.zip it will flash the CWM Recovery is well
Step 5, Flash back the Stock 6.1.A.2.55 kernel.sin
Step 6, Reboot and enjoy :victory:
"Sorry for mistakes but i rushing to sleep, i work tomorrow @ 0600 not even bother to set up the phone...:crying:"

Good idea, but nobody bothers to share it.
We can even flash the original kernel then on to the locked bootloader, which would ultimately give a rooted phone in the end (at least in theory).
I could post my vwm backup, but is been modded by now, and a few things i've removed like themes add sony apk's.
And thanks for anyone who's programs i used.

As i said in first reply:
-power off your phone (removing battery will do the trick)
-hold back button and connect usb cable to Play
-flash stock frimware with flashtool (tutorial how to use it is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054486
(read on if you want custom kernel/ROM)
-download ROM you want to use and place it in SD Card
-power off your phone
-hold search and connect usb cable to Play
-in flashtool, click on lighting icon, choose fastboot mode and select kernel you want to flash
-remove usb cable
-power on phone, and phone vibrate press volume down key (Volume down is for CWR, volume up is for TWRP recovery in lupus kernel, for doomlord kernel is back button)
-format system and data from recovery
-choose "install zip from sdcard" and choose ROM that you put in sc card
Keep in mind that kernel must match rom you are instaling. JB kernel for JB roms, ICS kernels for ics roms, GB kernel for GB roms
List of roms and firmwares you can find at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184897
