[CDMA][Radio][Bootloader]4.0.2 to 4.0.4 Radio patches and bootloader - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Ok, so this is a installer for clockwork recovery for the 4.0.4 radios and bootloader. This has ONLY been tested coming from 4.0.2. 4.0.3 radios and bootloaders MAY have issues. I don't advise you even consider it. This will work on stock 4.0.x, and even aosp builds.

Bootloader version is PRIMELA03
Thanks for Berzerker hosting!

Update: If you don't want radios from the ota, you can download full versions here (includes bootloader):

This link will likely get overloaded, so someone mirror it.

I up graded to the leaked 4.0.3 radio and boot loader, any way to downgrade and then do the patch?

I'm not sure if it's "safe", but try this radio (from the post in the general thread):
To confirm (because I have heard many horror stories about bricking with radios)
4.0.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403133) only, CWM-ok, root-ok, custom ROM (CM9) and custom kernel (lean) ok?

Anyone have a copy of 4.0.2 radio and/or boot loader? The general radio thread links had been shut down by the us govt. Lol

Just noticed that your screenshot has the radio as I515.10 V.FA02 and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481044 has I515.09 V.FA02. Just curious if you know what the difference might be? I was only asking because I thought the radios were pulled from the same OTA file. Thanks.

Um bootloader scares me. I'll pass until radio-only is available. Borked radio is nothing but borked bootloader = death.

Thanks for scaring me and putting me off.
The 4.0.3 leaked radios came with a bootloader too, though.

I flashed it and radio is grabbing 4g now at my house! Thank you so much for this!!
How do I check for potential bootloader issues?

Try booting into the bootloader and see.
If the OS booted up though, I'm 99% sure everything's all right.

I flashed the 4.03 radios in CWR and did a bootloader upgrade separately in fastboot. So we need to flash the 4.02 radio in CWR and flash the 4.02 bootloader in fastboot before attemepting the 4.04 upgrade - right? Or use fast boot to flash the bootloader and individual radios?

Im at work currently taking a shiit and just downloaded the new radio. I work for verizon and have two repeaters in the store and currently is only showing two bars of reception. Ill report back in a few minutes once the new radio is flashed.

Everything is fine, booted into CWR touch and everything. Also, I haven't noticed a change in how the signal is reported, just better signal and of course it's in beautiful 4g.

So has anyone tried this on 4.0.3?

I was able to install from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 radio without a problem. It did take about 2 minutes to flash in CWM though. Be patient!

I downgraded from 4.0.3 radio to 4.0.2 and flashed the zip... I got an error message saying:
assert failed: samsung.update_cdma_modem (package_extract_file("radio-cdma.img"))
E: Error in /sdcard/Download/402_to_404_btldr_rdo.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Hopefully this didn't just **** up my phone hahahah....I just checked and one radio is from 4.0.2 and the other is from 4.0.4... What is going on?! Uh oh LOL.
Do you guys see it? I'm running 4.0.2 CDMA radio, and 4.0.4 LTE radio... What. I'm gonna reflash 4.0.2 radios, try again, and re-confirm md5.

Holy crap!
I only have preliminary results, but I am LOVING this update!
I went from -115 to -120 dbm in my room to -95 dbm!
I have a factory refurbished HW 9 phone.
I also noticed a MUCH faster boot time.
Not sure how that was included though.

Flash instructions for those of you on 4.0.3 leaked radios/bootloader:
1. Download 4.0.2 official radios/bootloader here
2. Flash with CWM, then verify your bootloader version is PRIMEKJ10 (or something like PRIMEK)
3. Flash the new radios with CWM
4. Reboot, enjoy!

Just flashed a nexus from 4.0.2 and one from 4.0.3, both updated no problem. Will report back if the radios appear to work any better.
Both phones were having reception issues before, both on seperate radios.

[Q] concerning the recently leaked radios

I just saw that the official gb rom for the evo was leaked with some radios, im currently running cm7 and am curious as if updating my radios to the new ones would be safe and possibly produce better signal?
radios and leak information can be found here(XDA):

I have not tested it but if someone could tell me how to flash a radio i wont mind testing it myself

Search in the thread for.the leaked gingerbread rom. There is a flashsble zip somewhere in there. Just flash it in recovery, and expect to see some different screens while.it flashes, so don't panic and pull battery. I flashed the radio image last night, and haven't noticed any improvement.

So the zip file that includes the entire rom does not include the radio? Do you have any idea on what page the radios are? I was trying to keep up with the thread yesterday but it was moving fast as hell....by the time I got to work this morning, it had well over 100 pages.
Edit: I'm downloading TMartin's rooted rom now to try it, but the mirrors are slow. I don't know what's inside the rom yet.
Have you tried this radio with the 1.90 PRI? I see you still have the 1.77 PRI in your set up.

The radios are not in Tmartins rom. I think it was around page 50 - 54 that Barnacles posted the radio.img, which needs to be flashed in fastboot. then shortly after his post, someone posted the flashable zip. And you wont have any issues being on PRI 1.90, other people posted screens with that setup.

Same thing.
Those with CWM, rooted, but no filesystem modifications:
Good luck. I can modify the installer script if there is an issue.
Everyone else. If you flash this as GSM, well...tsk.

Couple of notes here:
You must be on 4.0.2 bootloader, radios, boot partition (kernel), and system or this will failed.
You can use this in both stock and CWM recovery.
You will lose root and will have to reroot afterwords using CWM!

I'm a little confused and was wondering if someone could confirm that it's safe for me to flash this. If I restore my nandroid backup of the stock 4.0.2 rom I have, it's ok to flash this? I have not flashed a different bootloader or radios since I originally unlocked and rooted it. Restoring root and CWM I get also. I'm still a tad newbish with the Nexus so I'm sorry if this question may seem dumb.

[CDMA][Radio][Bootloader]4.0.4 IMM76K Radios and Bootloader

I pulled the patched radio.img from my phone after updating from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4IMM76K. This file should work coming from any radio as it includes the full radio.img, not just the radio.img.p that is in the update from google. I do seem to get a 4G signal where I previously only got a 3G signal (ie in my basement). The .zip includes radio.img, radio-cdma.img, and bootloader.img.
It must be flashed through a custom recovery, fastboot will not work for the LTE radio.
It flashed fine on my phone, but I'm not responsible for any problems you may have .
Thanks to SpringRush for posting the google link to the update and krazie1 for the logcats that got the filename and probably helped find said link.

Since the latest liquid rom and kernel probably does not include a radio image or bootloader.img, then I would say you're fine. That's the reason I pulled the patched radio.img and made this thread. It's just the radios and bootloader from the newest update. Generally, custom ROMs do not include radios or bootloaders.
How's the battery looking so far? Lol

Will we be able to flash okay radios over this if it turns out worse. Also, why do we need the new bootloader? Will this effect anything going forward?
Worked fine over aokp m5 with stock faux kernel which I didn't expect any problems seeing how they aren't included in custom roms...slightly worse than the leaked 4.0.4 radio was getting -89dBm 51asu now getting 93dBm 47asu. Haven't tested much though that's just signal strength not hand off or anything also that was on 4g.

You can flash whatever radios you want as long as they are the full radios and not a .zip containing a radio patch in it. I don't know why the bootloader would affect anything. It's a nexus phone. It's not like we needed some hole to unlock our phones. fastboot oem unlock should always unlock a nexus as far as I know. I just made this .zip based off of other leaked radio threads, and they included the bootloader in 2 out of 3, so I figured 'why not' .

Hm, for those that have flashed this, I would compare your about screens to reflect the radios shown here. I pulled the radio images out of your zip (both .img files) and tried to flash them in fastboot. The LTE radio (radio.img) failed to write and I believe it's because in the original 4.0.4 update zip it's an img.p file, or a patch to go on top of 4.0.2 radios. So, if I had to guess, your zip is flashing only the CDMA radio and the LTE radio isn't being properly flashed for those running anything but the LTE radio that came with the 4.0.2, if that at all. Just a word of caution.

[Q] Need Help with error

I have been running the rooted stock ver 4.1.2 GC01 That i found here on the forums mos ago. This morning i tried to flash a new kernel and rom and figured i would test out a few new roms. I download the blasphemy kernal, slimbean, carbon, CM10.2 and dirty unicorns roms. I was looking for a stable and reliable 4.3.1 rom as daily driver. problem i ran into is no matter what i do i get a operation failed, cant verify signature. after hrs of reading a tinkering. i install cwm but it never flashed over the e3 recovery that came with the rooted stock 4.1.2 rom i had flashed. I read that you had to disable the verify signature in cwm settings but no such option is available. I tried flashing the kernal and all the roms and i keep getting the same error no matter what i try. Can somebody please explain to me what im doing wrong? Also if i missed a stable 4.3.1 rom to dl and try im open to suggestions. i figured i would check them all out and see which i like best. Any help in the error problem and possible suggestions for roms is most appreciated.
Well first off, I would say none of the 4.3 ROMs are "stable". Functional yes, but not stable. Try the EL29 Direct Boot kernel-http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p...ernels/Recovery Kernels/GB/Noobnl Direct Boot for flashing. Don't forget to get an ICS modem for the 4.3 ROMs and Wimax was removed from 4.3 by Google so no 4G if that's a dealbreaker.

ok, tyvm for the info. im dl the tar file now. hope that fixs the problem. when you say 4.3.1 isnt stable. what excatly do you mean by it. i know with a lot of roms with this phone it seems like its a ymmw situation, esp data from what ive read. Would i be better of just sticking with a 2.2 rom? 4g isnt a big deal for me. im normally on wifi anyways. when im not i just really need to make sure i can get emails form work and txt messages. 3g is generally good enough for that. most the time i have 4g turn off just to save batt, as im a somewhat heavy user. biggest reason i was looking at 4.3.1 is because of an app. I get the "incompatible device" message if not on 4.3 or higher. i know for fact if i manually install app it will work just fine. It will just be a pain to get new updates since i can just use the play store to update. i did read about a work around but i lost the thread due to trying to get this phone to be able to flash roms. other than the app my main concern is getting the most out of my batt as possible. i seam to have huge battery drains lately. so figured a fresh clean install with a custom kernel might do the phone some good.
Sry for the noobish questions. I came from the fascinate, charge and razr on verizon and was active in thoughs sub forums. But for some reason this phone seems to be a pain in my butt for some reason. idk if its because to jellybean, the phone or im just getting dumber lol. again ty for your help ill post back soon on results.
awesome. it now boots into cmw but wont boot back to my rom. i guess i have to just to flash a kernal rom and modem now right? is only being able to boot into cmw and not boot into stock rooted rom normal at this point?
Also is FC14 the better ics modem to use if trying out a 4.3 rom?
Yes, it boots to a "safe" recovery then you flash your ROM and reboot. The one problem with EL29 is it can't flash modems, you can do that after your ROM boots up tho.

Try whatever ICS modem you like. Some report better performance with some than others. You might try the official releases first before grabbing a leaked one. Either way, your phone, your experience is your best guide.
In a word, with items like this (best modem), searching may not be as useful as experimenting.
Swapping those is quick business.
Good luck!

Recently I've decided to flash over to the new NH7 Update because I wanted to try out the 4.4.4 Modem. After flashing both the ROM and Modem, I no longer have any sound. I'm a "bit" new to some of this so I'm hoping I could get some help. I've flashed plenty of other ROMS and Modems before without an issue (At least issues I could fix) but I can't seem to find any information on how one would fix this problem. I'm assuming the problem is the 4.4.4 Modem?
I'm also having the lockscreen freeze up on me when I try to unlock the phone. If I let the phone set for a while it settles down but it's still really buggy. Seems to do this with any ROM I flash and random things FC on me.
Lastly, Not sure if this helps with the problem but every time I boot into recovery and go to start the phone, it tells me that I lost root and gives me the option to fix. If I choose not to fix, I still have root. No idea why it prompts me about this?
Anyway, here's some info on what I did.
Flashed this ROM and used the modem provided in the thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-4-4-4-nh7-insane-kit-kat-v1-9-14-14-t2876946
1 Wiped Cache, Dalvik, Data, Factory reset with TWRP
2 Flashed ROM with TWRP
3 Put phone in download mode and flashed the NON-HLOS.bin
4 Restarted then booted download and flashed Modem.bin
5 Restarted normally and setup phone like normal.
6 No sound :/
Used the latest version of TWRP I could find. (2.8.1 I believe?)

Try the double flash method (start from phone off, flash without auto reboot, pull battery, boot back to ODIN, flash again, pull battery, boot normally). Some bits may not have updated. This will fix it.
The thing about losing root is I believe a known TWRP bug in that version.
Marc
Hi Marc
I've tried the method you describe with no luck
Oh, I suppose it's worth mentioning that I'm using ODIN version 3.0.7
Thanks,
Jeff
For Sickness' 4.4.4 ROM you have to be on the NH7 bootloader for it to fully work with no issues
And also, try TWRP 2.7.0.0. I use TWRP 2.6.3.1 and never have had an issue

Hey Kriptik210
For the bootloader I'm not exactly sure where to find it. (I have a link to what I think is a bootloader but I'm not allowed to post it until 10 posts)
If you look at my screenshot. It says Baseband Version m919uvufnh7. Isnt this the bootloader?
Sorry if I sound silly. I've never really had to update stuff like this before. It's really new to me.
Thanks,
Jeff

Baseband is the modem, build number is the bootloader. I don't see a screenshot anywhere
Ok, thank you for clarifying.
I'm going to download the 4.4.4 OTA and flash it VIA ODIN, then re-root. I've read towelroot v2 can root 4.4.4 without tripping knox.

You can't do OTA if you don't have the stock firmware already on your phone. But you can Odin.
You can use this link if you need anything...
http://www.droidviews.com/update-t-mobile-galaxy-s4-to-android-4-4-4-kitkat-and-root-it/
I got it. Sound is working now. I was apparently on the MDL bootloader. I used this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/help/nb4-to-nh7-firmware-upgrade-via-odin-t2880284 to get updated and re-rooted. Thanks for the help. I never would have known about the bootloader if it had not of been for this thread. I think I can handle the rest from here
Cheers!
Jeff
If you are unsure of your bootloader, there is a Phone Info Samsung app in the play store. IT will show you your boot loader version, modem baseband, etc..

Build number is the software version. It's defined in the build prop. Has nothing to do with the bootloader. Can make it say whatever you want. Unless That is Samsung is stealing mine and sickness' rom names and making bootloaders called HispAsian rom and Insane 4.4.4 haha in which I better be receiving a check
To find your bootloader version, download android terminal emulator from the playstore and type
getprop ro.bootloader
And hit enter.
